Chapter 53
"Umm... that's so nice..." Sherlyn moaned as Ardeth gave her a foot massage.
"You should take rest instead of running around, see your feet is swollen." Ardeth scolded as he pulled on Sherlyn's toes.
"I just went to kitchen to get water, I wasn't running around." Sherlyn frowned, " Any swollen feet is a common pregnancy symptom."
"Still I don't want you to exert yourself, since we have our semester holidays coming up, try to chill."
"You are behaving like a strict teacher." Sherlyn scoffed.
"I want to keep my girls safe." Ardeth said, and Sherlyn rolled her eyes turning away her face.
"If you want any help just give me a call." Ardeth said pulling Sherlyn gently towards him, by her legs. "Do you need any help?" Ardeth asked running his hand over her leg.
"No." Sherlyn said as her hormones went wild.
"Are you sure?" Ardeth asked as his hand grazed her inner thighs.
"Yes." Sherlyn rasped sucking in a breathe as his hand moved close to her nether parts.
"Your body is saying something else." Ardeth said looking into Sherlyn's eyes, as he ran his finger over clothed female parts.
"Ardeth." Sherlyn breathed out.
"Yes baby."
"Please..."
"You just have to ask me." Ardeth said blowing over her nether parts.
"Fuck me." Sherlyn said pulling him up, and pressing her lips onto his lips.
"As you wish, Sweetheart." Ardeth said lifting her up and carrying towards their bedroom.
"Ardeth?" Sherlyn called as she layed in his arms spent and satisfied.
"Hmmm."
"Are you happy?" Sherlyn asked raising her head to look at his face.
"Yes, why do you ask so?" Ardeth asked as he pushed her hair from her face.
"I felt like asking, since everything is going so fast."
"I agree everything is going fast, but I am not regretting anything that has happened or is happening. I am very happy with my life, infact I have never been so happy in my life. I have a family of my own, a sweet home, delicious food, and a person who loves me to moon and back, isn't that is what we need in life to lead a happy life."
"I love you." Sherlyn said resting her head on Ardeth's chest with a smile.
"I love you, and I love our baby." Ardeth said kissing her head.
"And then he made me, pullout all the wires, and fix them, while he watched." Jamie complained as he rolled his eyes.
"Seems like he is suspicious about your work." Ardeth laughed.
"Suspicion my foot, he is shit scared that someone would conspire against his, fail his car breaks or something to kill him, since he has a tug with everyother guy in the town because of his high-headedness." Jamie shook his head as he took the last sip from his coke can.
"Heard about him." Ardeth nodded.
"Let's not talk about that pot belly
Let's have fun instead." Jamie said placing the empty coke tin in a straight line to the garbage bins. "Let's kick and make them fall into the bins." He grinned.
Ardeth shook his head in amusement, as he placed his own empty coke tin beside Jamie's.
"On a count of three." Jamie said as they took the positions.
"One...two... Three.."
"What's happening here?" Mr.Scott asked startling Ardeth, making him miss the goal.
"I did it." Jamie shouted as his tin landed in the bin. "Sorry, Mr.Scott, we were just having some fun." He apologized realising Mr.Scott's presence.
Mr.Scott nodded.
"Nice shot by the way." Mr.Scott said to Jamie," Even without any proper practice, you were able to make a goal, I can't say the same to others." He said looking at Ardeth, and walked inside his cabin.
"Just because I am going through my worst days, doesn't give you a right to insult me." Ardeth said furiously as he stormed inside Mr.Scott's cabin.
"Isn't that is what everyone else is saying, what made me special? That I am directed to your anger?" Mr.Scott asked as he flipped through the files.
"I have been begging you to train me, you never obliged, if you can't train me, or help then you have no right to criticize me." Ardeth said and turned around to walk away, and just as he was about to step out of Mr.Scott's room, he turned around and spoke, "You know what? You are right." He said making Mr.Scott look at him in surprise.
"I lost many games, I wasn't able to regain my form. I have failed my team, and everyone thinks I am a looser. But that didn't stop me from trying, everyday I am waking up trying to work hard, and get back in form. Everyday I am trying to inch little bit closer to my goal, to make my family proud, I am fighting, without giving up no matter how hard it is on me, unlike you who left the game, and hiding away from everyone, crying in the corner over some silly things. I am stronger than you, you coward." Ardeth spat.
"How dare you to tell that to me? Get out of my room." Mr.Scott shouted banging his hands on his table.
"Isn't that is what everyone else is saying, what made me special? That I am directed to your anger?." Ardeth smirked, "I quit." He said and walked away.
"Here's the Tulips, you asked for." The floral shopkeeper said handing the flowers to Ardeth.
"Thank you." Ardeth said and was fishing out the money to pay the man.
"A bouquet of flowers, please." Ardeth turned around hearing the familiar voice.
"James?" Ardeth called looking at James Priestly, who was standing in the line behind him.
"Ardeth." James smiled looking at Ardeth.
"You came to buy flowers." Ardeth said looking at the flowers, James is holding in his hand.
"Yes." James blushed making Ardeth look at him wide-eyed in suprise.
"So... Do I know her?" Ardeth probed after a few seconds.
"Ms.West." James answered.
"I knew it! I fucking knew it!!!" Ardeth exclaimed. "I was telling Sherlyn the other day that I can see sparks between you and Elizabeth." He clapped his hands in excitement.
"Sorry to say but It's one side love." James sighed.
"What?" Ardeth asked confused.
"Can we move aside, we are blocking the line." James said gesturing towards the line.
Ardeth nodded and followed him to the parking lot.
"So..." Ardeth asked as they stood in the parking lot.
"As I said it's one side love, that writer is too involved in her fictional world that she is too oblivious of my interest towards her. So, I thought of dropping this bouquet at her home with a little anonymous note. Hoping to garner her attention." He said looking at the bouquet.
"I don't think that would help you anyway." Ardeth said thinking. "She might just ignore those flowers thinking they are from her fans."
"What else do you want me to do?" James asked.
"Make her notice, and fall in love with you." Ardeth shrugged.
"But how?"
"I have a plan, I am sure it works if everything goes accordingly."
"You will help me make Ms.West fall for me?" James asked smiling.
"Yes, I am going to be your wingman." Ardeth grinned, "Let's start our mission." He said pulling James with him.
Ardeth took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
"Hello Ardeth, what a pleasant surprise." Elizabeth said as she found Ardeth at her door.
"Hello Lizzy, how are you?" Ardeth smiled.
"I am good, do you need anything? Why don't you come inside?" Elizabeth asked opening the door for Ardeth to step in.
"James invited me over for dinner, and James misplaced the bottle opener. So, I came to borrow one from you." Ardeth explained.
"Oh, no worries I think I have an extra one with me." Elizabeth said walking towards the kitchen.
"If you don't mind can I have some coffee? I am feeling cold." Ardeth requested.
"Sure." Elizabeth smiled.
"Here's the coffee and opener." Elizabeth said walking towards Ardeth.
"Thank you so much, Lizzy." Ardeth smiled taking the coffee cup.
"Is everything ok?" Elizabeth asked looking at Ardeth.
"Yes, why did you ask so?" Ardeth asked.
"You look a bit shaken." Elizabeth said looking at Ardeth.
"Oh, may be because of the cold weather." Ardeth said looking into his coffee cup.
Elizabeth nodded.
"So, how is life?" Ardeth asked.
"Except for the writer's block now and then, everything is good."
"That's good to here, don't you feel alone here?"
"Sometimes I do, then again I have my books and a lot of characters to keep my company." Elizabeth smiled making Ardeth mentally smack himself.
"That's good. You sound just like James, he is living alone ever since Sherlyn moved in with me, he always keeps himself occupied with his works. What a great craftsman he is."
"I agree, I saw his work."
"I was telling James to date someone since he has been single for a longtime now, seems like no one caught his eye. I wonder how anyone can be so blind to not notice such a charming and kind man like James." Ardeth shook his head. "Anyways thanks for the lovely coffee, I got to go, James is cooking lunch for me, I am blessed to have him in my life."
"Please feel free to visit, when you are free." Elizabeth said walking Ardeth to the door.
"Thank you Lizzy, take care." Ardeth said walking out of the door.
"You too, convey my regards to Sherlyn." Elizabeth said before closing the door.
Ardeth took a few slow steps in the direction of James's house when he heard a loud thud.
"Hey James." Ardeth said walking inside the house. "I hope the lunch is ready and set?"
"It is. I was waiting for you." James said walking out of the kitchen.
"Ms.West?" James said looking at Elizabeth, who was standing behind Ardeth. "What a surprise!"
"James, Elizabeth's home door's hinges came off the frame making it impossible to close. so, I brought her here, thinking you will her." Ardeth said.
"Oh, that's bad." James said, "It's a old door, and the people who lived there earlier didn't take much care about it. Anyways, I will fix it for you, Ms.West."
"Thank you, Mr.Priestly." Elizabeth said.
"Lizzy, why don't you join us for lunch, I am sure there is enough food for three, what do you say James?"
"Yes, I cooked a storm today, please join us for lunch, Ms.West." James insisted.
"Thanks for the invite, Mr.Priestly, I have cooked lunch at home already, I don't think it's good to waste food."
"Lizzy, you can store the food in refrigerator and eat it tonight, it isn't safe for you to go back and stay in a house without a door, where any burglar can easily walk in. Please stay in James's home until he fixed your house door." Ardeth tried to convince.
"Yes, Ms.West, I have heard about burglar attacks in the neighborhood." James said, "Please stay here, you can get your valuables if you have any at home."
"I have my grandma's table, which is the precious thing in that home, but I don't think I can carry it till here." Elizabeth chuckled.
"Let's have lunch." Ardeth announced walking towards the dining table, James and Elizabeth followed him.
"James, have you got butter?" Ardeth asked as they sat by the dining table to have their lunch.
"Yes, in the kitchen." James replied.
"Okay, I will go get it." Ardeth said walking inside the kitchen.
"So, Ms.West, do you have any friends or relatives in the town, where you can stay tonight, if I don't get successful in fixing your door by tonight?" James asked breaking the awkward silence.
"No, my sister lives in West city suburbs it takes a day to reach their place from here, and I don't have any friends. I will check in into a hotel."
"What?! When!!" Ardeth shouted walking out of the kitchen as he spoke into his phone. "Okay, okay I am coming right away." He said cutting the call.
"Is everything okay, Ardeth?" James asked.
"No James, my friend Andrews uncle is with police since the hotel he was staying at was providing accommodation to anti-nationals, and police raided and took him to jail for interrogation to make.sure he has no relations with the anti-national groups. I hope the paparazzi didn't get the whiff of news, if not it's going to be viral." Ardeth said sending up a prayer.
"Are you leaving now?" James asked.
"Yes, Andrew needs me now." Ardeth explained, "I am sorry, James. I couldn't stay for lunch."
"It's okay, go help your friend."
"Thank you, and I am happy that Lizzy is here to keep your company, it makes me feel less guilty." Ardeth said smiling at Elizabeth.
"Sorry, and Thanks for everything today, Lizzy. We will plan a lunch , together someother day."
"No worries, your friend needs you." Elizabeth said.
"Thank you, have a great time you two." Ardeth said grabbing his coat and walking towards the door, as he slyly winked at James.
