Chapter 44

"Umm... a bit towards right." Sherlyn said standing in the living room of their new home.

"Good?" Ardeth asked moving the sofa towards right.

"No, a bit more towards right."

"Hmph... Okay?" Ardeth questioned.

"Okay." Sherlyn smiled. "Now everything looks great." She said twirling around to take a look at their newly furnished home.

"Finally... I can get my ass some rest." Ardeth said stretching in the sofa. "I could have been as well as a fucking weight lifter in Olympics with the amount of weight I carried today."

"I wish I could have been of any help." Sherlyn sighed sitting beside him.

"You did help me, guiding to arrange the furniture, if not it would have been a bigger mess." Ardeth said pulling Sherlyn closer to him.

"Are you happy?" Sherlyn asked, "With the things happening?"

"Happier than I ever was." Ardeth smiled. "I could have you and Nugget with me always, I can come home to you."

Sherlyn kissed his cheek.

"Not to forget I don't have to take cold showers now." Ardeth grinned like a Cheshire cat.

"Do you always think about it?" Sherlyn rolled her eyes.

"Everyone thinks about it, but no one says." Ardeth winked.

"Can we talk about something else?"

"Why isn't it an interesting topic?"

"No sir, not when our friends will be here in any minute now." Sherlyn reasoned.

Ardeth rolled his eyes.

"My father called me earlier asking whether we need any help to move the furniture." Sherlyn said, "I said Nick and Collin are coming to help us."

"That's kind of him." Ardeth nodded, "James is making a crib for our baby."

"Yes, he doesn't want me to see it." Sherlyn huffed. "You get to see it but not me."

"Because he wants it to be a surprise for you." Ardeth chuckled.

Sherlyn rolled her eyes.

"Sherlyn." Ardeth said sitting straight in the sofa gaining Sherlyn's attention.

"Yes." Sherlyn said as she sensed something serious in Ardeth's tone.

"Since we moved in together, and with baby on way, I thought it would be great if I take up some part-time job." Ardeth said, "And my friend offered to come and work with him in a garage he works in."

"Ardeth, what's the need for it, we can manage." Sherlyn shook her head.

"Sherlyn, I want you and Nugget to be happy and comfortable."

"We are happy and comfortable." Sherlyn frowned.

"I am glad to know that, but still I want to give you both, the best I could afford." Ardeth said, "Please don't say anything."

"But Ardeth, how are you going to manage the game and studies."

"I can still study and practice the game since I will be working after the college hours." Ardeth assured.

"Don't over exert yourself, I am happy with what we have, and I don't want anything more."

"I won't, but I want to be better for you and Nugget." Ardeth kissed her cheek. "Enough of this discussion." He said standing up from the sofa. "Let's go and christine our bed." He wiggled his brows.

"Did you forget Nick and Collin are.."

"No, they are not coming." Ardeth said, "Nick messaged me that Coach Broughton asked Collin to stay back for something, so we have atleast an hour till they arrive." He said as he lifted Sherlyn in his arms making her shriek, and carried her towards their bedroom.

"Hey Jamie, pass the screw driver." Ardeth asked as he tried to fix a car in the garage, where he started his first day of work.

"Here, man." Jamie passed the screw driver from under the car, where he was laying.

"Is everything set under there?" Ardeth asked as he joined the wires of the car.

"Yes, it should be done in a few minutes." Jamie answered back.

The bell rang loudly interrupting their conversation.

"Boss's calling." Jamie said rolling out from under the car, "I will go and check with him, meanwhile try to start the car." He said walking towards the small room in the farthest corner of the garage.

Ardeth watched Jamie knock on the heavy wooden door, before he walked in. It has been two hours since Ardeth walked inside the garage, never once did he see the owner of the place, the owner seemed to be a recluse man, since most of the time he conveyed his messages through Jamie. And Jamie mentioned him earlier that no one is allowed to step inside the owner's room.

Ardeth shrugged and walked towards the car grabbing the keys. He turned on the ignition and the car came to life.

"This baby's owner called in to ask whether it's good to go" Jamie informed Ardeth, patting the car.

"It's all set to go." Ardeth said getting down from the car.

"Good then, I will go inform Mr.Scott about it." Jamie said turning in his heel.

"What's the matter with the boss guy?" Ardeth questioned as he and Jamie walked towards their lockers after finishing the work.

"I don't know, he has been the same ever since I joined the garage two years back, back then only David was allowed the enter his cabin, and now that David stopped working here, I am playing the spokesman." Jamie shrugged.

Ardeth got to know from Jamie, that David is the guy who used to work with Jamie, and he moved to other town few months ago to join the university.

"Let me tell you," Jamie said as they walked outside the garage, "In my two years of working here, I got a chance to see the boss guy often only after David left, I used to wonder whether he is hiding skeletons or drugs inside the cabin, but now I know there is nothing such, but seems like he is an anti-social guy."

"Weird." Ardeth commented walking to his car.

"See you tomorrow, mate." Jamie waved and got into his truck.

"Hey." Sherlyn greeted kissing Ardeth, as she opened the door for him.

"Hey baby." Ardeth smiled wrapping his arms around her.

"How was your day at work?"

"It was good, I enjoyed it." Ardeth smiled.

"Great, go have a shower, while I heat the dinner." Sherlyn said as they walked inside the living room together.

"I could get used to this." Ardeth grinned, "Coming home to warm hugs, and food."

Sherlyn laughed.

"Hurry up, have a quick shower and come back before the food gets cold." She said giving him a push.

"Who's that?" Sherlyn asked as she watched Ardeth walk into the kitchen, after taking the call.

"It was Johan." Ardeth said taking the kitchen napkin from Sherlyn and wiping the dishes. "He said he wants to speak with us, so I called him over."

"He wants to speak with us, I wonder what it is about?" Sherlyn said leaning her back against the kitchen island.

"I think it's something related to Juniper." Ardeth replied as he continued to dry the dishes.

"Who is Juniper?" Sherlyn frowned.

"Johan's girl."

"Her name's Marcie." Sherlyn huffed in annoyance, "I have one best cousin, and you can't remember her name!"

"I am sorry, I don't know why, but I get confused with her name." Ardeth smiled sheepishly.

"I think Johan's here." Sherlyn said as the door bell went off, "I will go get the door." She said pushing herself off the kitchen counter.

"Hey Sherlyn." Johan greeted as Sherlyn opened the door.

"Hey Johan." Sherlyn said opening the door for him to enter.

"Nice house." Johan said looking around.

"Thank you." Sherlyn smiled as she guided him towards the living room.

"Hey man, fancy some drink?" Ardeth waved from the kitchen.

"Hey, A glass of water would be great." Johan said settling himself in the coach.

"Here you go." Ardeth said handing him a glass of water, and settling himself in the other end of the coach.

"Ardeth said you wanted to speak with us?" Sherlyn asked sitting in the arm chair beside Ardeth.

"Yes." Johan nodded. "You know that I am going to graduate in a few months."

"Yes, and Marcie told me that you are planning to go to Boston to join the university." Sherlyn said.

"Yes." Johan confirmed, "Before that I want to propose Marcie." He said earning a happy squeal from Sherlyn.

"Wow, I am so happy for you two." Sherlyn exclaimed.

"Thank you, Sherlyn." Johan smiled, "I want your help to propose, Marcie."

"Anytime." Sherlyn beamed, "When are you planning to propose her?"

"Next weekend." Johan replied.

"Do you have a plan?" Ardeth questioned.

"Yes, I am planning to propose her on the beach, since Marcie always says about her love for the beach."

"I know right."

"So next weekend, I want you to bring her to the beach." Johan requested.

"Sure." Sherlyn nodded.

"And Ardeth can you help me with the arrangements?" Johan asked, "I am getting nervous."

"Don't worry, Man, I got your back." Ardeth assured.

"Thank you, Sherlyn and Ardeth." Johan smiled as he walked to the door, "I am really looking forward for this weekend."

"We too." Sherlyn and Ardeth grinned.

"I can't believe Johan is going to propose Marcie." Sherlyn squealed in happiness as soon as they walked inside the living room after Johan left.

"I am happy for them." Ardeth said sitting on the coach beside Sherlyn.

"I hope everything goes well next weekend." Sherlyn clapped her hands, "Poor Marcie, she was upset from past few days because Johan is being different around her, but now she gets the biggest surprise of her life."

"Poor guy is getting all nervous." Ardeth chuckled, "I hope he remembers his lines, if not I will help him."

"Please, don't do anything that messes up their moment." Sherlyn said.

"I am trying to help them." Ardeth frowned.

"I appreciate that, but I don't want Marcie to go all mad seeing someone else's name instead of hers, as we all know how good you are at remembering her name." Sherlyn rolled her eyes.

"Come on, I am not that bad."

"Yes, yes." Sherlyn's tone was dipped with sarcasm. "Just remember to stay away from anything that involves names, clear?"

"Fine." Ardeth huffed.

"Great." Sherlyn smiled, "Now let's cuddle and watch the movie." She said grabbing the remote.

"Now that's what I call the best thing." Ardeth said wrapping his arms around Sherlyn.
