Chapter 41
"I hate this." Sherlyn cried as she looked at the empty icecream tub in the refrigerator. "Sorry baby, we don't have any sweets at home." She mumbled keeping a hand on her belly.
Sherlyn woke up from her sleep craving for something sweet, only to find that she emptied all the icecream and sweets in her kitchen. Even though her father and Ardeth asked her to let them know if she need anything, she didn't want to disturb their sleep.
"I think we have to adjust with these toffees." She said grabbing the toffees, and climbing the stairs to her room.
"I will ask your Papa to get some sweets for us tomorrow. We can't disturb Papa or Grandpa now, I am sorry baby." Sherlyn mumbled walking inside her room.
"Why are you saying sorry?" Ardeth asked making Sherlyn jump startled.
"Ardeth, what are you doing in my room?" Sherlyn asked looking at Ardeth with wide eyes, as he laid on her bed in his pyjamas.
"Waiting for you, duh." Ardeth rolled his eyes.
"When did you come inside my room?"
"Some ten minutes ago, I have been waiting for you, where did you go?" Ardeth asked sitting on the bed, "And why are you saying sorry to Nugget?"
"I went down to find some ice-cream in the kitchen, as the baby and I were craving for something sweet, but we ran out of the sweets."
"Didn't I ask you to call me, if you crave for anything?" Ardeth asked raising his brow.
"I didn't feel like disturbing you at this hour, you sounded tired when I called you." Sherlyn reasoned.
"Baby, no matter what, if you want anything please don't hold back yourself, please." Ardeth requested, "I wish I could be with you all the time but since I couldn't, please atleast let me know if you need anything, that makes me feel less guilty, that I am not able to take care of you and Nugget always."
"You are being a great boyfriend and father, don't feel bad, Ardeth." Sherlyn said placing a hand on Ardeth's shoulder, "I will call you if I want anything, I promise."
"Thank you." Ardeth smiled, "Now come here, and see what I brought for you and Nugget." He said pulling out and holding up the bags from underneath the bed.
"Donuts!" Sherlyn exclaimed opening the box.
"Yes, and I also brought some Swiss chocolates, baklava, Turkish Delight, cookies, Macaroons." Ardeth said as he laid the boxes on her bed.
"Thank you very much." Sherlyn cried hugging the donuts box. "How did you know we are craving for sweets." She asked munching the donuts.
"Father instincts, I guess." Ardeth shrugged. "Are they good?" He asked eyeing the donuts.
"Delicious, are they from the new cafe?"
"Yes." Ardeth nodded.
"They are yummy, just like Marcie told me." Sherlyn said taking an another bite, "You want a bite?"
"No, thanks." Ardeth smiled, "You eat."
"Can you pass me my water bottle?" Sherlyn said pointing at the water bottle on the bedside table after she finished the last donut.
Ardeth passed the water bottle after unscrewing it.
"Are you craving for anything else?" Ardeth asked taking the water bottle from Sherlyn.
"Yes." Sherlyn nodded.
"What are you craving for? I will go get it." Ardeth said fishing his keys out of his pocket.
"I am craving for some cuddles." Sherlyn smiled sweetly looking at Ardeth.
"Come here." Ardeth said throwing the keys on the bed side table, and opening his arms for Sherlyn.
Sherlyn crawled into his embrace, and hugged him wrapping her arms around his waist, breathing in his soothing scent.
"I love you." Sherlyn said placing a kiss on the skin exposed because of his unbuttoned two buttons of his shirt.
"I love you more." Ardeth said kissing the top of her head, "And I love Nugget too."
"I love Nugget too." Sherlyn smiled, "But I hate the morning sickness." She complained.
"I am sorry, is it severe?" Ardeth asked concerned.
"It's tolerable, but I hate starting my day looking at the toilet." Sherlyn pouted.
"Nugget, please don't be hard on Momma." Ardeth said placing his hand on Sherlyn's belly.
"I hope he listens to you." Sherlyn laughed.
"He? You know it's boy?" Ardeth asked.
"No, but I am guessing." Sherlyn shrugged. "I always wanted a cute little boy, what about you?"
"I am happy with anyone, but I always dreamt of a daughter, who looks beautiful like her mother." Ardeth said rubbing his nose against Sherlyn's nose.
"On that note, I think we should start searching names for the baby, we can't call him Nugget."
"Why? Nugget is a cute name." Ardeth said offended.
"Yes, it is but we should give him or her a real name." Sherlyn rolled her eyes.
"Fine." Ardeth nodded, "We have a lot of time to think about the names but for now, let's get you some sleep, before Nugget wakes you up." Ardeth said pulling up the duvet.
"Yes, I think so too." Sherlyn said snuggling against Ardeth as they laid on the bed. "Good night."
"Good night." Ardeth kissed her forehead.
"Stop wiggling." Ardeth complained in sleep as Sherlyn struggled to get out of his hold, as she felt her morning sickness kick in.
"Leave me." Sherlyn pushed Ardeth, and ran towards the bathroom.
"Ouch!" Ardeth groaned as he landed on the floor face flat. "Sherlyn?" He called out as he heard the noises from the bathroom.
"I am here." Sherlyn replied weakly as she continued to puke her guts out.
Ardeth rushed to her side, and held her hair, rubbing her back, as she threw up.
"Drink some water." Ardeth said passing the water bottle to Sherlyn, who sat beside the toilet sink.
"Pumpkin?" James knocked on the door, "Are you okay? Do you need any help?"
"I am good, Pa." Sherlyn answered, "Just the morning sickness."
"Okay, I made you breakfast, eat it." James spoke, "I am heading to the work."
"Okay Pa, have a good day." Sherlyn replied looking at Ardeth, who was shuffling on his feet nervously, as he heard James speak.
"You too." James said and walked away.
"How are you feeling?" Ardeth asked as he helped Sherlyn on to her feet.
"Don't ask me." Sherlyn grumbled taking out the tooth brush, "I have a spare tooth brush and a set of your clothes, you left here last time, I washed them. You can take a shower and get ready."
"Won't you be joining me for shower?" Ardeth asked kissing Sherlyn's shoulder blade, looking at her through the mirror.
"Don't tempt me." Sherlyn elbowed him, "The baby is already making me crazy, you go take a shower alone."
"Holy Chickens, why are you punishing me with these lonely, cold showers." Ardeth complained walking into the shower.
"Let's get some breakfast and go to college." Sherlyn said pulling her hair into a ponytail, while Ardeth got dressed.
"Can't we spend some time together?" Ardeth asked pulling Sherlyn closer to him.
"No, I am hungry." Sherlyn smiled at Ardeth.
"I am hungry too." Ardeth said with a mischievous glint.
"Not your kind of hungry, Sir." Sherlyn laughed, "I am famished."
"Fine, let's go and feed you and Nugget." Ardeth sighed and walked down the stairs with Sherlyn.
"Seems like Pa, already made food." Sherlyn said lifting up the lid.
"Are you expecting someone to join for breakfast?" Ardeth asked looking at the two plates of Pancakes, two glasses of fruit juice.
"No." Sherlyn shook her head, "Pa is making me eat for two persons, he wants his grand baby to be healthy." Sherlyn laughed.
"That's so nice of him." Ardeth smiled pulling a chair for Sherlyn to sit.
"You should eat too, we have enough food for two, actually three." Sherlyn said dishing out the food for Ardeth.
"It's okay, I will have some food in the cafe." Ardeth refused.
"Come on, I am not going to eat all that food, besides you have to taste my father's Special pancakes, they are yummy." She said pouring the syrup on the pancakes. "Eat." She said to Ardeth before she started digging into her plate.
Ardeth watched her lovingly as she devoured the pancakes.
