Chapter 40
"Hey mate." Collin fist bumped with Ardeth as soon as he opened the door.
"Where is Nick?" Ardeth asked walking inside the home.
"He is in the shower." Collin informed plopping on the recliner holding the remote in his hand. "So, how is the baby?"
"Cute and healthy." Ardeth smiled. "I already love the baby."
"Aww... You gonna be a great father." Collin smiled.
"Thank you, Collin."
"So, did you tell Sherlyn that they are in talks of not including you in next match also?" Collin asked carefully.
"No, she was happy today after seeing our baby for the first time, I don't want to spoil her mood." Ardeth sighed.
"I hope for you to make a come back." Collin wished.
"I am trying my best, but I don't know what's wrong with me." Ardeth said running his hands through his hair. "On top of it, that Professor Asshole is poking his long nose into the game, persuading the selectors to drop me."
"I don't know what his problem is." Collin rolled his eyes. "Why he is doing this to you."
"Because he is a fucking asshole, who can't beat my ass, so he is whoring around to find someone else to fuck me." Ardeth growled, "Limp dick."
"We all stand with you, Ardeth, even Coach Broughton said that he will never let the selectors to drop you." Collin consoled.
"Thank you Collin, I really appreciate that but If they drop me out, I am going to loose my scholarship, things are going to get difficult."
"No matter what happens we will stand with you, Ardeth." Nick said walking inside the living room.
"Yes, Nick and I, infact the whole Soccer team will stand with you." Collin nodded.
"Thank you for being so kind." Ardeth smiled.
"Ardeth is becoming a softie." Nick commented."Is it the baby or the baby Mama, mellowing you down?"
"Fuck off, Roy." Ardeth scowled and threw the pillow at Nick, making him laugh.
"I going to get beer, who wants one." Nick asked walking on inside the kitchen.
"Can you get me an Chocolate icecream with some extra chocolate sauce on it?"
"Anything else?" Ardeth asked.
"Umm... I am craving for some Cheeseburgers."
"We will buy some at the drive thru, okay?" Ardeth said.
"Okay." Sherlyn smiled.
"Here's your icecream." Ardeth said handing her the icecream cup.
"Thank you, you are the best boyfriend." Sherlyn pecked his lips, and started digging into the icecream.
Ardeth shook his head smiling and began to drive the car.
"What are we going to do today?" Sherlyn asked eating the icecream.
"I have a practice match today, even though I don't know whether I would make into the finalists lists, Coach Broughton wants me to play the practice game so, that I don't loose the form." Ardeth informed.
"You will make a comeback, don't give up." Sherlyn said holding his hand, that's on the gear.
"Thank you." Ardeth said linking his fingers with Sherlyn's and pulling her hand to kiss.
"We can go to Marianne's cafe after the match okay? Till then eat the burgers and these snacks." Ardeth said kissing Sherlyn's nose.
"Okay, you should go now." Sherlyn smiled as she watched Ardeth's team mates shouting for him, from the field.
"I should go now." Ardeth smiled and jogged to the field, leaving Sherlyn in the stands.
Sherlyn watched Ardeth practice in the field, she can see that he is still struggling with the game, and that's hollowing him down. Nevertheless he has been a great boyfriend and father to her and their baby till now.
She smiled thinking about how much he cares for her, and loves her.
"Hey there." The sudden voice snapped Sherlyn out.
"Um..Hi." Sherlyn said looking at a cute boy, who was standing near her.
"My name is Darius Paulson." The boy introduced himself, "I saw you sitting here all alone, so thought of keeping your company." He gave a charming smile.
"I am Sherlyn Priestly." Sherlyn replied, "Are you a new student?" She asked in confusion looking at a stranger.
"Actually, I am from the rival team." Darius replied. "I am sitting out for this match because of my hamstring injury."
"Oh, that sounds bad."
"Yeah, but injuries and games go hand in hand everywhere." Darius laughed.
"Would you like some cookies?" Sherlyn asked offering the cookies she was eating.
"Sure, anytime." Darius said taking the cookies from Sherlyn. "They are delicious."
"I know right." Sherlyn smiled.
"You have a beautiful smile." Darius complimented.
"Thank you." Sherlyn smiled politely. "Are you from South fields?" She asked.
"Why did you ask so?" Darius asked.
"Your backpack, it has the logo of Southfield's NGO." She pointed out.
"My Uncle lives there, and when I went there for Thanksgiving he gave me this bag, since I liked it." Darius explained, "I take you are from South fields."
"Yes, I grew up there until I moved here." Sherlyn replied.
"I like Southfields the suburban environment, fields, and forests." Darius said.
"I miss them too." Sherlyn sighed, "Especially Hailey's Frappe."
"Oh, I like that too." Darius exclaimed.
"Hey Ardeth, that Paulson is talking with Sherlyn." Johan nudged Ardeth, eyeing at Sherlyn and Darius in the stands.
"I noticed." Ardeth said wiping his face with the napkin, looking briefly at Sherlyn's direction.
"Looks like he is flirting with her." Collin whispered as he watched Darius say something, which made Sherlyn blush, and smile.
"Yes, he definitely is." Ardeth replied looking as cool as an icecube.
"Aren't you jealous?" Johan frowned.
"Why should I be?" Ardeth asked, "He can try, but at the end of the day, she is my girl." He said with a smile.
"Shall we continue the practice?" Ardeth called out walking into the field.
"How was practice?" Sherlyn asked as they walked towards the parking lot.
"It was better." Ardeth answered, "I hope you didn't get bored sitting in the stands."
"Nope, I met this guy called Darius, from rival team. We had a chat about Southfields, and life there, his uncle lives there." Sherlyn replied.
"Then I could say you had a good time revisiting your memories at Southfields." Ardeth smiled.
"Yes, but mostly it made me miss the place." Sherlyn sighed sadly.
"Don't worry, one day we can go there and have a stroll around, you can show me places there." Ardeth tried to cheer up.
"Will you come with me?" Sherlyn asked smiling.
"Yes, I wanted to see the place you grew in."
"Thank you." Sherlyn said leaning over and kissing Ardeth.
"Careful there, I am driving." Ardeth chuckled.
"Can we go to the new cafe in high street? Heard they have the most delicious donuts." Sherlyn asked.
"I am sorry, but Coach Broughton asked me to meet him in the evening." Ardeth replied, "We can go and get some donuts tomorrow, I promise."
"It's okay, I understand." Sherlyn smiled.
"Thank you." Ardeth said kissing her.
"See you tomorrow." Sherlyn said getting down the car.
Ardeth waited for her to get inside the home before he drove away.
Ardeth walked inside the elegant looking building, with smartly dressed people walking around. He could notice the looks people is giving him, because of his attire, that was completely in contrast with the neatly pressed branded suits.
"My name is Ardeth Sky, and I am here for Tristan Sky." Ardeth told the lady sitting behind the desk.
"Mr.Sky is waiting for you in his cabin." The lady said guiding him towards the wooden door, and opened it for him to enter, after knocking it.
Ardeth thanked and walked inside.
"Ardeth, how are you? Tristan smiled as soon as he saw his brother.
"Why did you ask me to meet you here, Tristan?" Ardeth asked without beating around the bush.
"Because I asked him to do so." A familiar voice answered from the corner making Ardeth turn his head.
"Father." Ardeth said with a grudge.
"Good to know that you remember me." Caden Sky said standing up from his seat.
"Why did you call me?" Ardeth asked no one in particular.
"Ardeth, I know you hate me." Caden Sky spoke in a straight tone.
"Thank god you realised." Ardeth said with a humorless chuckle.
"Even though you hate me, I couldn't do the same because you are my son." Caden spoke ignoring Ardeth's comment, "I know you are struggling with your game, and on the verge of loosing the scholarship."
"Why does that concern you now, all of a sudden?" Ardeth asked with a suspicious glint.
"I made a mistake trying to force you to quit your passion, and do something that you are not interested. Now I want to make it right, I will have the best coaches to train you in the game, with whose help you can definitely make your place in the national team. I will also give you the money to lead a luxurious life." Caden said.
"Why are being nice to me all of a sudden?" Ardeth asked suspiciously.
"Because you are my son."
"Cut the shit, I know you can't do anything without some hidden agenda behind it." Ardeth scoffed, "Tell me what is that you want that you are offering some much for me as a bait."
"Ardeth, it is all yours to enjoy." Caden spoke. "You can take whatever you want, which is rightfully yours as a future heir of this empire, in return I ask you for only one small favour that is beneficial for both of us."
"What's that?"
"I want you to marry Georgiana Bradley, the heiress of Bradley Industries. She is a beautiful young lady, who is a model. In addition to that you could enjoy the wealth and fame that comes from marrying the heiress of Bradley's." Caden informed.
"I thought you have a dutiful son, to follow your commands and orders." Ardeth said looking at Tristan, "Why me?"
"I am engaged to Rachel Morea." Tristan replied. "That leaves only you."
Ardeth knew Racheal Morea, is the daughter of Liam Morea, who runs a successful fashion designing company.
"So, what do you say?" Caden asked with a smile.
"No." Ardeth dead-panned.
"What?" Caden exclaimed.
"I said no. No, I don't want to marry Georgiana or anyone on that note, I already have my eyes on someone better than all these fake glitters."
"Are you rejecting Georgiana for that indigent, good for nothing girlfriend of yours?" Caden growled.
"For the first and last time, I warn you to watch that bloody mouth of yours when you talk about my girlfriend." Ardeth said in a calm yet serious tone, "I won't tolerate anyone who bad-mouth's my girlfriend."
"Secondly, I have no interest in your wealth or anyone's wealth in that note, I may not have a luxurious life but I have people who loves me for what I am than for what I have."
"Thank you for your offer, but I am not interested." Ardeth said turning on his heel. "Don't waste my time next time, Tristan." He said before walking out of the door.
