Chapter 18
Buddy, you're a young man, hard man
Shouting in the street, gonna take on the world someday
You got blood on your face, you big disgrace
Waving your banner all over the place
We will, we will rock you, sing it!
Ardeth groaned as the blaring music disturbed his slumber.
"Who the fuck is partying in the morning." Ardeth mumbled as he pried open his eyes, and looked around the room to register the surroundings.
He turned to his left and found Sherlyn sleeping like a baby, hugging him, resting her face on his bicep.
He smiled as he looked at how peaceful she looked when she was asleep, her thick long lashes resting on her soft pink cheeks, and her lips slightly apart.
Sherlyn frowned in her sleep as music blasted through the speakers again, she flutter opened her eyes and saw Ardeth looking at her.
"Good Morning." Sherlyn smiled at Ardeth, what time it is?" She asked as she looked around to spot her phone.
"Quarter past ten." Ardeth answered as he looked down at Sherlyn resting his head on his hand, supported by his elbow.
"We slept till this late!" Sherlyn said getting down the bed in a hurry.
"Calm down, we are not late." Ardeth said sitting up on the bed. "I bet most of them would now be in their bed dealing with the hangovers."
"I think so too, but we should go and see if Marcie and Johan needs any help." Sherlyn said walking inside the bathroom.
Sherlyn stood infront of the mirror in the bathroom in her bathrobe, when Ardeth exited the shower with a towel wrapped around his hips.
"What are you doing?" Ardeth asked Sherlyn standing beside her.
"What does it look like?" Sherlyn asked as she continued applying the concealer on the hickeys Ardeth left on her neck.
Ardeth pulled down the sleeves of the bathrobe, Sherlyn was wearing revealing more hickeys he left over her chest and cleavage making Sherlyn blush.
"You look beautiful with them." Ardeth said kissing on her shoulder wrapping his arm around her waist, looking at her through the mirror. "Don't conceal them."
"Are you trying to get me killed in the hands of My cousin?" Sherlyn laughed elbowing Ardeth in his stomach. "Get ready, we have to go down before anyone catches us together." She said as she got dressed up in the room, while Ardeth was in the bathroom.
"Hey Johan, Hey Marcie." Sherlyn and Ardeth greeted walking inside the kitchen.
"Hey guys." Johan greeted flipping a Pancake, while Marcie raised a brow at Sherlyn.
"Met him near the stairs." Sherlyn mumbled to Marcie as she grabbed milk corton from the refrigerator.
Marcie nodded in acknowledgement.
"So, what are plans for the day?" Ardeth asked as he helped Johan.
"We are planning a barbecue, and bonfire by the lake, before we get back to our respective places in the evening." Johan informed.
"Sounds great." Sherlyn said. "Nick..." She called as she watched Nick march inside the living room heading towards the exit.
"Sherry." Nick said stopping momentarily, "I am in a rush, will explain to you later, enjoy your day." He said as he dashed out of the doors.
"What happened to him?" Sherlyn asked looking at the door, Nick left.
"May be he is having hangover from the night or upset about something." Marcie shrugged.
"Anyways, we are going to wake up the people and let's prepare for our outing at Lake." Johan said as he and Ardeth walked up the stairs.
"So, what's next?" Sherlyn asked Ardeth as he drove her back to city enjoying the evening at Johan's place. "You are going back to Soccer practice again from tomorrow?"
"Yes, have to practice hard if I want to get recognised by the franchises." Ardeth shrugged.
"Don't stress yourself, you are already giving your best in the game." Sherlyn said looking at Ardeth. "And I am proud of you."
"Thank you." Ardeth mumbled and looked away as his eyes turned moist.
"Did you speak with Nick? He is not taking my calls." Sherlyn said looking at her phone.
"Mine neither, he seemed upset about something, he will bounce back to normal. Give him time." Ardeth assured as he parked the car.
"My home is in next lane." Sherlyn said looking around in confusion.
"I know." Ardeth said getting down the car and opening the door for Sherlyn.
"Then why did you stop here?" Sherlyn frowned.
"We need some exercise, so we are walking till your home." Ardeth said making Sherlyn throw her hands in air.
"Walk." Ardeth said and Sherlyn huffed and began walking beside him.
"Don't make a face like I am making you do something bad." Ardeth chuckled.
"I don't want to walk right now." Sherlyn nagged.
"Are you asking me to carry you?" Ardeth teased.
"No." Sherlyn whisper shouted.
"Great, because I am not strong enough to carry you." Ardeth joked.
"Shut up, I am not fat." Sherlyn whacked Ardeth's arm making him laugh.
They began to enjoy the warm evening, walking close to eachother. Their hands brushing against eachother every now and then.
"I like winters." Sherlyn smiled looking at the sky as snow flakes started to fall.
"And I am beginning to like it too." Ardeth said slipping his hand into Sherlyn's.
Sherlyn smiled and linked her fingers with Ardeth's, as they continued walking to her home.
"Here we are." Sherlyn said standing near her home.
Ardeth sighed looking at her home.
"Goodnight." Ardeth said stuffing his hands in his Jean pockets once Sherlyn left his hand.
Sherlyn tip-toed and pressed a kiss on his cheek, "Goodnight." She said pushing her hair behind the ears.
"See you tomorrow." Ardeth smiled and walked away.
"I can swear that something is definitely wrong." Sherlyn said as she blocked the way, stopping Nick.
"For the hundredth time, I am fine Sherry!" Nick exclaimed.
"I can smell when something is wrong, so don't lie to me Nicholas." Sherlyn said placing her hands on her hips.
"Sherry, there's..."
"Not that again." Sherlyn rolled her eyes, "Not one or two, you are walking like you have the weight of the world on you shoulders from past 4 days after you have dashed out of Johan's farmhouse. Did something happen there?" Sherlyn asked taking Nick's hand hers.
"Sherry, I can't say anything now." Nick sighed in defeat.
"Fine, but you do know that you can share anything with me right?" Sherlyn asked and Nick nodded.
"Remember I will always be ready to listen to you and help you, without judging. So, please don't push me away." Sherlyn said looking at Nick. "I am sorry, if I broached you, you are my friend and I couldn't see you sad."
"No, you didn't do anything to say sorry." Nick said, "I am sorry but I will tell you when I am ready."
"Ok." Sherlyn nodded.
"Can I get a hug?" Nick asked and Sherlyn opened her arms and hugged Nick.
*Cough*
"What is it Sky?" Nick asked annoyed.
"I am going to Soccer court, wanted to ask whether you two want to join me." Ardeth said.
"I will let it pass, I have some work." Nick said, "I think Sherlyn would be happy to join you." He said giving a push to Sherlyn, who glared at him.
"Bye Sherry Tomato." Nick smiled, "See you tomorrow."
"Idiot." Sherlyn mumbled.
"Are you coming?" Ardeth asked.
"Do I need to?"
Ardeth shrugged.
"I think I will go to library, I have assignments to do." Sherlyn said.
"Okay." Ardeth said still standing infront of Sherlyn, not making a move.
"Okay..." Sherlyn said waiting for him to move aside. But Ardeth continued to stare at her with his hands in his pockets.
"Arrghh..." Sherlyn groaned, "Let's go to the Soccer court." She sighed and Ardeth grinned and led the way.
