Chapter 10
"You are coming to Soccer practice with me." Ardeth announced.
"Sorry sir; No." Sherlyn deadpanned.
"Why?" Ardeth frowned.
"You asking me why!" Sherlyn threw her hands up in air in exasperation. "Because of you I missed classes for five alternative days!"
"So what? Because of you I sat through the boring classes for the other five alternative days!" Ardeth argued.
"I can't put up with you, I came to Soccer practice yesterday, I missed my classes, today I have to attend them to catch up with the lessons." Sherlyn said, "If you want you can join me."
"Why can't you come to practice with me?" Ardeth scrunched his face.
"I have to write assignments, for Nick and I. Besides I have nothing to do there except to sit and watch you guys play." Sherlyn explained.
"Fine." Ardeth scowled.
"Are you coming to class with me?" Sherlyn questioned.
"No, I have Soccer tournament next week, have to practice hard, it's an important match." Ardeth informed.
"Okay, I have to go now."
"I can't do anything to change your mind?" Ardeth asked making puppy eyes.
"Just go away." Sherlyn laughed.
"Sherry?" A familiar voice called from behind making Sherlyn spin around.
"Nick!" Sherlyn exclaimed and sprinted towards Nicholas Roy.
"Sorry, excuse me." Sherlyn apologized to the guy, whom she ran into making his things fall as she happily ran towards Nicholas, "How are you?" Sherlyn beamed in happiness of seeing her friend after ten whole days, since he went to stay at his parents.
"Handsome as ever." Nicholas grinned. "I missed you." He wrapped his arms around Sherlyn in a bear hug.
"I missed you too Roy." Ardeth said as he pulled away Sherlyn from Nicholas by holding her backpack, and wrapped his arms around Nicholas.
"We met eachother just an hour ago in the apartment!" Nicholas said as he shoved back Ardeth, "I missed you in the college, Roy." Ardeth said making Nicholas roll his eyes.
"Come on, Sherry, we are getting late for the literature class." Nicholas hurried towards the class pulling Sherlyn with him.
"What's cooking between you and Ardeth?" Nicholas nudged Sherlyn as Professor Luciana was explaining Shakespeare poetry.
"Nothing." Sherlyn answered as she continued to listen the lecture.
"Liar, liar, pants on fire." Nicholas sang, "I can see stars twinkling in Sky's eyes, when he was looking at you."
"How hard did you hit your head?" Sherlyn whisper shouted.
"Very hard that I am seeing things that I never thought I would see." Nicholas whispered back. "What happened in just ten days of my absence?" He wondered.
"You are seeing things." Sherlyn hissed.
"You are in denial." Nicholas sang.
"Shut up!" Sherlyn elbowed into Nicholas's stomach.
"Ouch! You..."
"Ms. Priestly and Mr. Roy." Professor Luciana called making them stop their banter, "Out of my class now!"
"Sorry Professor." Nicholas and Sherlyn mumbled as they walked out of the class.
"For once in a while I was attending the class in peace and your ruined it." Sherlyn scolded Nicholas as they walked towards the cafeteria.
"It was you who was hiding things from me, I thought we are best friends!" Nicholas argued.
"Nothing is going between us." Sherlyn furrowed her brows, "It was my mistake that I advised him to attend the classes and he made a habit of annoying me in the classroom from past ten days."
"Ardeth is attending the classes! Wow, that's a news now." Nicholas said in surprise.
"You were the one who was spoiling him rotten." Sherlyn reprimanded, "He is also doing his own assignments now."
"Wow..."
"I am fucked now." Johan said as he slapped his head.
"Johan, there should be some solution." Marcie said as she ran behind him.
Sherlyn and Nicholas looked at eachother, before they ran towards Marcie and Johan.
"Marcie, what happened?" Sherlyn gasped.
"Why does Johan looks so pissed?" Nicholas inquired as he watched Johan kick his car as he marched to and fro in the parking lot.
"His team has an important Soccer match next week. And when he thought everything is set, and confident about the victory, a drug scandal surfaced in the team, someone was peddling the drugs, because of which the future of the team participating in the tournament is in question." Marcie cried.
Sherlyn knew that Johan was the skipper of college Soccer team in which Ardeth played. But the drug scandal came to her as a shock.
"Who's the drug peddler?" Nicholas asked.
"Ardeth Sky." Marcie said shocking both Sherlyn and Nicholas. "Professor Ashford found Marijuana in Ardeth's bag, and he was called into the Principal's room." She informed before she ran behind Johan.
"This is not true!" Sherlyn and Nicholas said at the same time.
"I know Ardeth he can never be into the drugs." Nicholas said as he held his head in his hands.
"May be someone's framing him." Sherlyn said as she walked to an fro in the parking lot.
"They are going to suspend him. And his Soccer career, that he build shedding his blood and sweat for years, is gonna get ruined." Nicholas cried. "He will loose his scholarship too."
"Come with me." Sherlyn said as she ran inside the college.
"Sherry, where are you going?" Nicholas asked as he ran with Sherlyn.
"Professor Luciana." Sherlyn shouted as she ran towards Luciana Philips in the corridor.
"Ms. Priestly?" Professor Luciana asked in confusion. "What's the matter?"
"Professor Luciana, it's about Ardeth Sky, he is being accused for something he didn't do!" Sherlyn said to the Professor Luciana, the disciplinary committee head of the college.
"Ms. Priestly, I am sorry but all the evidences are against Mr.Sky, Professor Ashford found two packets of Marijuana in his bag." Professor Luciana explained.
"No!" Sherlyn said as she slapped her forehead feeling frustrated.
"I can understand your frustration, but I am sorry I can't help." Professor Luciana said as she walked towards the Principal's office.
"Sherry, calm down." Nicholas said placing his hand on Sherlyn's shoulder.
"Wait..." Sherlyn said as she ran towards Principal's office.
"Mr. Sky, we found two packets of Marijuana in the possession of your brother, Ardeth Sky. We don't entertain this in our college." The principal said to Tristan Sky.
"I am really ashamed of my brother's behaviour Mr.Paul." Tristan said seated infront of the Principal.
"There's nothing to be ashamed of, they aren't mine." Ardeth hissed from the corner, where he was standing in.
"Shut up, Ardeth. Let me handle this scandal of yours!" Tristan glared.
"Why don't you believe me, you fucker." Ardeth yelled in frustration.
"Mr.Sky, mind your language." Mr.Paul glowered and turned to Tristan, "Mr.Sky, as I said, we don't entertain such behaviour in our college, taken that he was also a part of our Soccer team that is going to play an inter college tournament next week, this drug scandal can cost us a lot."
"Mr. Paul I apologise to you on behalf of my brother, can you please kindly pardon him for one time, I assure you this thing won't repeat."
"I am sorry Mr.Sky, but I have to take a disciplinary action against him." Mr.Paul said as he pushed his glasses onto the bridge of his nose, "We are going to suspend him for atleast a month and he will no longer be a player in the Soccer team."
"You can't do that." Ardeth shouted, "You can't bar me from playing Soccer." He cried as he saw his dream of becoming a professional Soccer player crumbling to ashes infront of his eyes.
"I apologise on his behalf, Mr.Paul." Tristan told to Mr.Paul as he raised from his seat.
"Mr.Paul..." Professor Luciana said as she walked inside his cabin, "I think should wait a bit before we award the punishment to Mr.Sky."
"We have all the evidences against him, Professor Philips." Professor Ashford, who was sitting in the chair all the while listening to the conversation spoke for the first time, "I found the drugs in his bag."
"That doesn't mean those drugs belong to him, Professor Ashford." Sherlyn spoke as she walked in behind Professor Luciana, with Nicholas.
Ardeth looked at Sherlyn, who looked at him before she answered.
"Just because you found the drugs in his bag doesn't mean that he is a druggie or a peddler. Who knows may be someone is trying to frame him."
"Why would someone try and frame Mr.Sky in a drug scandal." Professor Ashford questioned.
"Because there is an important Soccer match next week, and everyone knows how much of a threat can an aggressive player like Ardeth can be for the opponent team." Sherlyn argued.
"These are baseless reasons." Professor Ashford said to Mr.Paul.
"I am really sorry Professor Ashford, I didn't mean to disrespect you in anyway," Sherlyn said to Professor Ashford, "but Did you check the surveillance cameras? Did you see him smuggle the drugs to anyone in the college?" Sherlyn countered.
"What's the need for it?"
"I urge you to check the CCTV footage." Sherlyn requested the Principal.
"Professor Philips." Mr.Paul nodded at Luciana.
Professor Luciana walked towards the projector with the Security footage.
Sherlyn walked to Ardeth's side, and held his hand as she nodded at him in assurance.
"We trust you, Sky." Nicholas said as he stood by Ardeth.
Ardeth nodded at Nicholas.
Sherlyn and Nicholas stood beside Ardeth in the Principal cabin, as Professor Luciana played the CCTV footage.
The room went silent as they watched the security footage which showed, Sherlyn and Ardeth speak in the corridors that morning.
They watched Sherlyn run towards Nicholas and the guy who was coming opposite to her stumble and drop his books on the floor, and Ardeth help the guy gather his books and papers that scattered all around, when the guy discreetly slipped the drug packets into Ardeth's Duffle bag, when he turned around to gather the papers.
It happened in a brief second that it was almost as if it's not there, nevertheless they were able to replay that certain clip and the evidence was clear enough to prove Ardeth innocent.
"We are really sorry for coming to conclusions without looking deeper into this issue, Mr.Sky." Mr.Paul apologized to Tristan Sky looking ashamed.
"It's okay, Mr.Paul, good thing that we found out the truth." Tristan said as he shook hands with Principal Paul.
"I am sorry Ardeth, I am revoking your suspension order and you can continue as the player in Soccer team." Principal Paul said to Ardeth as he patted his back.
"Thank you Ms. Priestly, for stopping us, from committing a grave mistake, on right time." Principal Paul thanked Sherlyn.
"Thank you Principal Paul and Professor Luciana." Ardeth said before they walked out of Principal Paul's room.
"Ardeth, can I have a word with you." Tristan said once they are in the corridors.
Ardeth nodded and followed him.
"I can guarantee you, Professor Asshole has a hand behind this fiasco." Nicholas whispered as they walked in the corridors.
"Not you too." Sherlyn scolded Nicholas, "You can't accuse someone baseless and it's not a good thing to call names."
Nicholas rolled his eyes, "Let's go and inform Johan before he gets all mad and breaks his car and legs." He said as he walked towards the parking lot.
"Everything will be fine, baby." Marcie said as she ran her fingers through Johan's hair as he laid under the tree with his head resting in Marcie's lap.
"It is fine already." Nicholas announced from behind startling Johan and Marcie.
"What did you say?" Johan asked.
"I said everything is already fine, thanks to Sherlyn here that it was proved that Ardeth is wrongly accused in this fiasco." Nicholas explained, "Principal apologized and said that everything will go as planned before."
"Wow! That's... That's wonderful." Johan beamed in happiness.
"How did you know that he was framed?" Johan asked.
"It's a long story, for now celebrate and let your team members know that you can still play next week's match." Nicholas said.
"Marcie, come let's go." Johan said as he walked towards the Soccer field.
Marcie gave Sherlyn a this is not over yet look before she followed Johan.
