Minju's POV

"Today's activity need pairs of students to conduct a mini research about how to dissect a frog." the professor showed a preserved dissected frog.

I can't withstand to look at it. Why does it have to be frogs? My poor friends ╥﹏╥.

"We don't have the time to pair you up so, the one beside you is automatically your partner. You may start now, the deadline is the day after tomorrow." he walked in the way next to me.

"Miss Minju, you should persuade Miss Ahn to do this report with you" he whispered in my ear.

I looked at the girl beside me who is reading her mangas without knowing what in the world is happening.

Am I really gonna work with her? Or should I do this alone?
'No Minju! Your teacher depends Yujin on you!'

The students are all paired up leaving me no choice but to be her partner. I'll do this for my grades' sake.

"Dissecting research, the day after tomorrow." I said while calming myself. She just looked at the paper that I gave.

Keep calm Minju, keep calm. Inhale, exhale~

Keeping my temper low, I took her manga and replaced it with the paper which has a 'dissecting report' written on it.

She straighten her sit and glared at me first while turning her head around, knowing about the situation.

"What's this?" she turned the paper back to back.

Of all people, why do I need to pair up with her? Am I really unlucky?

"It's a paper obviously " I sighed. I know I can't persuade her with this. She's not even interested.

"Nonsense" she throw the paper and grab the manga again.

What should I do with this girl?!

"It's for our grades. Please do cooperate! I know that you don't want to be paired with me since I'm just a loser, but please I have a grade to accomplish" swallowing the pride that I have, I said those words to her. I had no choice but to plead for this monster.

"Then do it alone" she turned the next page, not even looking at me.

Okay, I'm full.

"Aish, Ahn Yujin!" I grab her manga again but this time, she hold it too.

"What the heck?! Are you blind? I'm reading!" she grabs the manga back to her.

If I have to do this just to persuade her, well I should continue doing this.

"Both of you! Get out!" the prof. said cutting our epic scene. Oh no, I just made a bad impression.

"B- but - -

"No buts!" he shouted again.

Removing my grip from her book, I stood straight and bowed my head.

"I'm sorry sir" I walked outside the door. I felt that Yujin also went out of the door, slamming it hard.

It's her hobby isn't it? -,-

I didn't mind her and just walk my way to the tree where I stayed last afternoon.

Today is my mom's birthday.

The breeze blow gently as I sat and lean on the big tree next to me.

"Hey big guy, I know you can hear me but you can't understand every word that I say right? Haha. I have something to tell you"

I looked like an idiot talking with a tree. I'm the only one here and I wanted to remove some burdens so I'll just talk to this tree.

"You know tree? This is the first time that I will have a decent talk with something, yeah 'something' because you're just a tree haha. I just want to share some of my burdens to you, let's keep it as a secret okay?"

"I feel like I don't belong here. We're only poor. Since I'm a scholar from Trevor, this school insist to have me when they knew that I had to transfer to a place near their school. When I first got here, I thought that students are nice since this is one of the richest schools that I know but when I met that monster, it seemed like I had the wrong impression"

I sighed. I took the mini box from my pocket which I had bought earlier for my mom.

"Anyways, today is my Mom's birthday. I had to work hard to earn money, in order to buy this simple gift of mine. Even I had to work while studying, I will still do this thing because my mom? she's worth it all. I love my Mom very much. She doesn't deserve to be hurt and to be abused by a foolish man" I opened the small box and held the necklace up.

I looked at it for a while. I saw mom looking at this necklace before when we passed by an accessory shop.

She'll definitely love this.

I was about to put it back when I saw a hand holding it in the other side.

She grab it and leveled it on her face.

"A necklace? Looks fake. Whom are you giving this to huh, transferee? Tsk tsk tsk" she said, making the bracelet, turn in her hands.

I stood up from where I sit. I went near her and tries to grab the necklace.

"Just give it back, please." I'm feeling nervous right now. No please, not my gift.

"Why should I?" smirking playfully, she went near me and leveled the necklace high, to the point that I can't even reach it.

"You want it? Then get it! Hahaha" she's just laughing while I tried to jump in order to reach for it.

After a few tries, I've got the chance to have a grip on it but unfortunately I lost my balance and fell to her.

I fell on top of her. She stopped laughing when she noticed our awkward position. We're still having a grip with the necklace.

"Give it to me!" I grab the necklace from her hand. I don't care if I'm still on top of her. All I care about is my gift.

"No" she grabs the necklace back.

"I said, give it to me!" I grab the necklace again and this time, I know that I exerted too much force making the necklace break and shattered into pieces.

It seemed like my time slowed down. All I can do is to stare at the ruined necklace. This is the only gift that I have for my mom yet it's gone now.

I picked up the broken necklace. I felt that my tears started to fall down my cheeks because of anger and frustration. I stood up, pre occupied about how can I give this to my Mom.

This is all I've got.

I turned my back while wiping my tears. I'm not a showy person, it's just that, I had enough.

"It's broken now" I heard Yujin said. She composed herself first. I know that she's smirking right now based on her tone.

I don't know what to feel anymore.

"How could you?! How could you do this while not even knowing what and how important this is? Are you happy now huh? What did I even do just to be treated this way? Can't I deserve to be happy? You know what? this thing that you've ruined is for my mom. It's her birthday today. I'm giving this to her so that even just for once, I did something to make her happy! You're rich that's why you don't know the feeling of appreciating small things, you're rich! that's why it's easy for you to get what you want, you're rich but.. I'm only poor Yujin. I love my mom that's why I'm paying back her efforts even with this simple gift only.

This is all I've got..

She's the only thing that I had" I wiped the tears that fell from my eyes again. Upon saying those, I left her dumfounded.

You had never felt what I feel Yujin. Never.
