Chapter One: The Itching

  Kai wakes up and yawns. He rubs his eyes and looks around his room, but all he can see everywhere he looks is a bright light. He tries to stand up and feel his way to the door, but walks right into Zane's bed. Zane wakes up to this and gives Kai a questioning look, noticing how squinted Kai's eyes are. "Kai? Are you OK?" The nindroid asks. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just... Why is it so bright in here?" Kai asks. "It is not bright at all Kai. In fact, it is the middle of the night." Zane says. "But, all I can see is this bright, blinding light!" Kai yells in panic. Zane stands up and helps Kai to his bed. "Try to get some rest. Sensei will be back in the morning, we'll see if he knows what to do." Zane says & Kai nods. It had to be nothing! Right?  

  That very morning, Kai wakes up and sees normally, just... A brighter. It was as if this foggy film had been taken off of his vision. He also felt more alert then usual. He hoped right out of bed, the first one up, and went to the kitchen, deciding to cook breakfast. He honestly felt better then ever before. Zane woke up next, and was surprised at Kai's new behavior. "Kai? What about your eyes?" Zane questions. "I honestly don't know! All I know is I woke up and everything seems brighter, like a foggy lens was removed. It's weird, but I like it! I also feel as if I have more energy, and I feel more alert to!" Kai explains.  

  The red ninja puts down his deliciously cooked breakfast just as everyone else walks in. They all eat, enjoying the meal, when Wu walks in. Lloyd runs over and hugs him. "Uncle! Your back!" The green ninja says. Wu nods, hugging Lloyd back. They then sit to eat. "Mmmm.... Zane, you've outdone yourself." Wu says. "I did not cook this meal." Zane admits. Everyone but Kai looks up. "What do you mean.... You didn't cook this?" Cole asks. "Yeah, who did?" Jay wonders. "Kai did." The white ninja answers. They all look to Kai, wide eyed.  

  Kai rolls his eyes. "Just eat, would you?" He says with a cheery voice. Kai finishes his food with a smile then stands up and puts his plate away. "I'm going to train now." He says happily, then heads out to the deck, leaving everyone shocked.  

  During training, the others look at Kai funny. He never let that damn smile of his slip! It was freaking them all out! Even Wu!  

  The next thing they know, the alarm sounds. "Robbery! At the bank!" Misako calls. The ninja head out. Kai is ahead of everyone, and leads the charge. When they reach the bank, they fight against the robbers. Their were six of the thieves, one ninja for each robber. Lloyd beat his opponent in three moves, but Kai beat his in one. They were all surprised, and in the end they sent the bad guys to jail.  

  On the way back, everyone looked to Kai in amazement. What had happened over night?! Kai was happy, till an itch formed right between his shoulder blades. He scratched at it all day, and honestly didn't like it.  

  What was going on? Was a thought in the red ninja's head. He rubes the itch everywhere! At dinner, he's had enough, and asks Wu to look at it for him. Wu agrees and takes a look. Kai removes his shirt and Wu takes a look, gasping at what he sees. "What is it Sensei?" Kai asks. Wu stumbles back, eyes wide. "Sensei?" Kai turns around in question. "What is it?" He asks, worried.
