Chapter 2 - Jesse
"I don't know why I did that, I mean. .I have no idea how I'm gonna help her get a date" I rant, before shoving my mouth with fries.
"Aw! You'll figure something out. And hey -- Sara's a sweet girl, I bet any guy would be lucky to have her as a date" Chloe says with a smile, sipping on her drink.
"She's so. ..energetic and jumpy. My body hurts just watching her act so. .so. .happy" I say, cringing.
"What's wrong with being happy? Don't you wanna be happy?" Chloe says with a questionable look, standing up from my bed.
"Shut up" I reply, throwing my empty takeaway pack in the bin.
I lean back on my headboard and sip on my coke, relaxation mode activated. Chloe walks over to my window and gasps loudly, waving me over.
"Ugh, what is it now?" I say, completely uninterested in whatever it is.
"It's Jesse" she gushes, fanning herself. "He's having a party."
"On a Thursday? What an idiot!" I comment, chuckling at Chloe who is almost half out of my window.
"I wonder why he didn't invite us" she says with a frown, drawing the curtains shut.
I look at her with a blank expression on my face. Is she really this blonde? Oh my gawd!
"It's past 8pm, I better get home" she says, putting on her jacket.
"Cool. Close the door on your way out" I tell her, flashing a bright smile.
"Ugh! Goodnight Rose, see ya tomorrow" Chloe says, blowing me a kiss.
I catch her kiss with my right hand then toss it in the trash, all while laughing hysterically.
"Huh!" Chloe gasps, totally shocked by my lack of girly emotions. I guess I was supposed to catch the stupid kiss and put it on my heart or something. Anyway, who cares? It's lame.
She gives me one last evil glare then leaves.

I woke up at the same time I did every single day, 7am. But this time, instead of waiting around for my lovely father to drop me off -- I decided to skip our morning car conversation and walk to school.
By 7:45am I was grabbing books from my locker, ready for whatever crappy class we were having. I relied solely on Chloe's copy of our timetable so I decided to wait for her by the stairs just opposite the lockers. I think it's about time I carried around a copy of my own. The copy she sent to my phone 'accidently' got deleted along with every other document that began with McKinley.
As I sit and wait for this loser to arrive, Sara skips past me on her way to the bathroom. For selfies, I suppose.
"Oh! Good morning Rose" she says chirpily, standing in front of me with a smile playing across her lips.
"Yeah, hi Sara" I reply, looking up at her blankly.
"So. ..when will you match me up with someone?" She asks, casually twirling her hair that was tied back in a ponytail.
"Soon, doll. Don't you worry 'bout that. I've got it all sorted" I lie through my teeth, even throwing on a fake smile to make myself sound believable.
"Aww, Rose!" She gushes, covering her mouth with her hand. "I can tell this is the beginning of a great friendship."
"Yeah. Friendship" I reply, looking around for Chloe to rescue me.
Finally, I spot her walking through the doors. I stand up quickly and excuse myself, making a run for Chloe.
"Don't ever be this late again! I had to sit there and wait for you like a puppy waiting for it's owner to get home" I scold her, linking my arm in hers.
"Aw! Well I'm truly sorry Your Highness but I had to get a ride with Zed, and let's just say he makes alot of detours before actually heading to school" Chloe rambles on as we walk to class.
"At least he doesn't try to strike up embarrassing topics to discuss" I answer, thinking about the cringy things dad likes to talk about. For example, boys.

Classes went smoothly today and I didn't even attempt to skip one of them. Looks like I'm back to being myself again. During lunch, I sat aimlessly as Chloe yapped on and on about stupid Jesse and his party last night. For some reason it turned out to be a total flop and I don't know why she's so interested in this news. It's not like he's a celebrity. He's just my annoying, self-centered neighbor.
I'm free this last period so I casually make my way down to my space, ready for the dramas of today to pile in. I just hope today doesn't include a particular quirky cheerleader.
I drop my bag on the floor and take a seat on my chair, pulling out my phone from my pocket. I send a text to Chloe asking her to round up any guys that might be interested in taking Sara to prom. She sends back a dozen laughing emojis before finally agreeing.
I'd do it myself but unfortunately I'm not very popular with the guys, well with anyone for a matter of fact. But Chloe's a sweetheart and she has heaps of 'guy friends' as she likes to call it. Basically they're just heaps of guys shoved in her friend zone, but she won't admit that.
I lean back and chuckle as she sends me pictures of potential dates for Sara. They were all ridiculous-looking guys, I mean, even Angus from Science class was an option here. No offence to him but I don't think Sara would be interested in his conspiracies.
Giving up on Chloe's options altogether, I throw my phone on the table and lean back into my chair, thinking of other guys that she hasn't mentioned.
Suddenly there was a commotion outside. I cock my head to try and get a better look but I couldn't see anything, I could only hear someone.
"I'll just be a minute! Promise! I just need to talk to her"
"Um, okay" I mumble to myself as one of the jocks rushes inside my space and shuts the door, locking it.
I know he's on the team because of his jacket but I don't know which idiot it -- aw crap!
"Rose! You're here, great! I kinda need your help" he says, taking a seat opposite me.
"I'm sorry but I was just about to leave" I lie, not even attempting to hear what's his problem.
"What?" he answers in disbelief. "I thought you were supposed to be here from three to four?"
"Well that was before you decided to show up. Okay? See ya" I say, grabbing my bag and trying to make a run for the door.
"Stop! Please, it's important" Jesse pleads, grabbing my arm.
My eyes grow wide in shock as he touches my arm. I want to scream but that would be overreacting, so I calm down and return to my seat, trying to act professional.
I look at him and clear my throat, might as well get this over with.
"What seems to be the problem?" I ask politely, leaning in - trying to look like I care.
"It's Lyla, she broke up with me" he says in a low voice, probably not over it yet.
Wow! the star couple of McKinley have broken up. This is definitely news for Chloe. She would be over the moon to hear this. The blonde might even think she now has a chance with beastly over here.
"Okay, I'm sorry to hear that" I lie, wanting to burst out laughing but I manage to keep my straight face.
"Yeah, so what can we do?" Jesse asks, a small smile playing across his lips.
I look at his lips and forget what I was going to say. Wait, why am I staring? I hate this guy. I shake it off and open up my notebook, jotting down some notes.
"Well Jesse, I can see you're clearly not over it so I could help you accept the break up and even help you move on, if you like. But if it's too soon, I totally understand, seeing as you two were together since junior year"
"Yeah, it's kinda hard"
"Okay, so allow yourself to heal for a few days then come back and we'll talk about ways to help you move on" I say with a smile, trying to get him to leave.
"Oh, no! you've got it all wrong, Rose. I don't want to move on, you're going to help me get her back" Jesse says with a smirk, standing to his feet.
"I will do no such thing" I protest, standing to my feet as well. "I'm here for advice only. Know the difference."
"Thanks Rosalie, you're awesome. I'll come by your house later" Jesse says smugly, completely ignoring what I just said.
I plop back down on my seat, thinking of a way to get myself out of this mess. I can deal with anyone, everyone. .just not him.
There is another knock on the door. I lazily look up to see who it is. In walks Sara, happy as usual.
"Arghh!" I groan out loud as she takes a seat opposite me, ready to press me for information.
Can my day just end already?
