xi. Grocery Store Meet-Ups

CHAPTER ELEVEN ౨ Lovesick
"Can we pretend that nothing's changed at all?"

As the two, Lorelei and Juliette, stroll through the aisles of the beautiful Walmart grocery store, Lorelei skillfully maneuvers the shopping cart, making every effort to avoid any collisions. Despite her best attempts, she unfortunately encounters a few mishaps along the way, resulting in a few unintended crashes.

"I'm about to lose it," Juliette blurts, shooting her a look. "You're about to be off shopping cart pushing duty if you crash the cart again."

She furrows her brows, "I'm sorry? I'm not trying to crash. Maybe you could get a job at this place and change where things are around here if it bothers you so much."

Her jaw drops, a laugh quickly leaving Juliette's lips as she moves to place a hand over her mouth. "That wasn't funny, I'm going to kill you."

"Shut up, oh! And grab the tortillas." Lorelei instructs, her arms folded across the bar of the shopping cart while clearly displaying her boredom. "Are we almost done?"

"You didn't have to come, you offered."

She sighs, her chin now placed on the palm of her hand. "How stupid of me."

"Stupid indeed, what else is on the list?" The question making Lorelei reach into her pocket to check only to find nothing. "Hello? What else is on the list."

"Did I give you the list?" She asks.

Hearing that made Juliette straighten, her head whipping around to look at her friend. "Lorelei, did you lose the list?"

"Well!" The brunette stammers, "Who even makes lists, Julie! We have a notes app on our cellular device used for stuff like this. It's not my fault! Let's just, hey, we have what we need. Majority of it at least. We'll be fine."

"We have stuff to make like, four dinners. Our cart is probably filled with the entire stores' snacks." She sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose.

"We can retrace our steps? I had it with me like two aisles ago."

Pondering to herself about whether or not they should just leave the list and go off on what they remember, Juliette nods her head. "I guess."

Doing exactly that, they scan their last whereabouts in search of the list. Nothing. "Okay, you know what! We don't need the list, let's just get pizza and lasagna and call it a day. My feet hurt."

"Pizza and lasagna." She murmurs before shrugging. "Okay."

"Lor?" Someone questions, their heads turning to see a beaming Azzi. "Shut up! Julie? What are you guys doing here?"

"Don't answer that." She added quickly.

Letting out a laugh, Lorelei steps away from the cart and goes to pull the girl in for a hug. "We're grocery shopping unfortunately. Or, we were until our list got lost."

"In other words, she lost it." Juliette mumbled, wrapping an arm around her. "It's so good to see you! How's senior year treating you?"

"Good, I forget this is my last year sometimes."

Lorelei nods and frowns, "This is so upsetting, I'll miss you so bad, what the fuck. How's basketball?"

"Lor, you guys are literally seniors too." Azzi laughed, "And good, really good. We played well, I'm already thinking of how I'll do next season. What about you guys? Lorelei, soccer? How's it been?" The girl asked, placing both hands on her hips.

"Won my last couple of games, we have playoffs soon, so that's fun. That's it, really." She chuckled.

The girl nods, listening attentively before looking over to Juliette. "And you, how's photography?"

"The same. Lots more people are reaching out though," She explained, "I'm putting together a website because I realized I don't have one and it'll be easier for people to contact me and whatever."

"Lor, I expect an invitation to your last few games." She demanded, "While pictures, I'll be giving out your name to people when they need anything done for the future."

They both grin, nodding their heads. "We appreciate and love you more than you know."

"Same for me to you," Azzi replied, looking over her shoulder. "Oh, wait— Ice, come here!" She called out, meeting their gazes soon afterwards with a tight-lipped smile, "I actually don't know where she is. But, there's a party someone's having two days from now, she's been letting people know. You guys should go!"

Just as they're about to respond, out of no where, KK appears from behind them. "I won't be there, sorry." She sighs sadly, feigning the mood. "They will though, and a bunch of others. I heard so myself."

Lorelei hums, "I'll let Clem and Mars know when we get back home, I think we'll go. What'll you be doing, Arnold?" She asks KK, who shrugs in response.

        "Play basketball or something."

"Huh, should've guessed." Juliette joked, her eyebrows soon raising in remembrance, "Oh! You know, we still have that PlayStation you begged us to buy. We could play, what's it called? I don't know, but we could play something."

She gasped, a laugh leaving her lips. "No way? I thought you would've gotten rid of it after—" Quickly cutting herself off, she cleared her throat. "Yeah!"

Ignoring the instant stiffening in her shoulders, she nodded. "Good, great! We should uh, get back to it. Tell Ice we said hi, or if we see her we will. It was nice seeing you both, really. I look forward to seeing you at the party if we go."

Azzi smiled, "You too! And I will for sure, bye."

With one final hug to both girls, they descend down an aisle. Leaving the duo back to their own devices, "So! The party, would you want to go?" Lorelei inquired.

The brunette shrugged, "I don't know. Probably not, I'll most likely stay in."

"Boring," She trailed off, extending the 'g'. "It'll be fun! We can dress up. And it won't be like the bar, we can actually talk to people we know."

"I talked to people I knew at the bar."

Not responding to her, she reaches for the cart and continues strolling it down the aisle. Completely disregarding her, making Juliette scoff. "And if I said I'll think about it?"

Stopping immediately, she looked over her shoulder and smiled. "You'd make a bunch of woman very happy!"

"Oh, wonderful. Suddenly I'm convinced!" She retorted, face expressionless, "Now, lasagna and pizza. Focus."

"Focusing." Lorelei returned. Even though she was the complete opposite. Too deep in thought about ways she could help change Juliette's mind completely. Wanting to spend an eventful night out with not only her, but her friends. With no interruptions, and of course, with no distractions.

Not too bad! So plan she shall.
