Chapter 2

It's been a few weeks since Fowler brought me to the Autobots. So far, they have no clue about my ability. And that's only because I'm so quiet. After the first day, my energy sort of died down which shocked all the bots. I'm a shy, quiet girl so that first day for me wasn't expected. Cliffjumper isn't mad at me for messing up his prank and occasionally I help him with some pranks. Right now, they are all out scouting, leaving me in charge of the ground bridge.

It's kinda quiet. I don't like it... suddenly, Arcee's voice rang throughout the base.

"Arcee to Optimus. The cons are back. Cliff could be neck deep in scrap", she says. I gasp but continue listening.

"Understood. Ratchet, do you have Cliffjumper's coordinates", Optimus asks.

"I'm locked on his signal, Optimus. But our team is scattered across time zones", Ratchet answers.

"Arcee. Bulkhead. Bumblebee", Optiimus says. "Rendezvous back at base and prepare to groundbridge. Jaymen, bridge Ratchet and I back."

"On it, Optimus", I say before opening a bridge to Ratchet's position and another one to Optimus'. By the time Optimus got back the other three bots where waiting. They groundbridge there and I hear nothing for a while. Soon, Optimus asks me to open a ground bridge, his voice solemn.

They come back through and I immediately look at Optimus, who looks to Arcee.

She shows me the horn and I look to Ratchet. He shakes his head. I gasp, feeling tears forming in my eyes. I see them heading to the elevator which takes them to the roof so I get in the human elevator and find them all waiting for me at the top.

We stand in a circle as Optimus speaks.

"We must not allow our anger over the lost of Cliffjumper to impair our judgement. As of today Only we five Autobots remain on this Earth. We owe it to ourselves to the memory of Cybertron, to any Autobots in any Galaxies seeking safe harbour, to humankind." Arcee came and placed the horn in the center of our group. "And we owe it to the memory of our fallen comrade to survive. Arcee." Optimus calls on her to speak.

"If Cliff's gone, standing around here sulking won't bring him back. So unless anyone minds, I think I'll get back to protecting humankind", she says as she walks off.

"Optimus, helping humans will only result in more tragedy", Ratchet says.

"Your opinion is noted", Optimus says.

Most of the bots leave but I stay. I walk up to horn and whisper to it. "You should have told her." I look up at Optimus as he was the only one still up here with me. I take a look towards the setting sun before I look back at him.

"He loved her, you know", I say. Optimus smiles a rare smile.

"I know."

"She loved him, too", I say, looking in the direction Arcee went off in.

"They loved each other", Optimus says. "But they knew it was dangerous to get involved with one another during a war because it would have made the pain of losing the other more unbearable."

He knelt down to my level as he spoke. I responded with as equal level a head as he did. I learned to keep my emotions mostly hidden. Cliffjumper was one of the few that could get them to come out and it was usually when we were planning a prank.

"I know. All I'm saying is that they loved each other and that is why it is so hard for Arcee", I say. I look at the horn and see something that Cliffjumper let me etch into his horn.

'Besties forever.'

I gasp before a single tear fell down my face. I had completely forgotten about it until now. I pulled out a necklace that had a shard of metal with the same words etched onto it. It was in the shape of the horn. I immediately knew what I had to do. Cliffjumper told me to give it to Arcee if something should happen to him

"Let's go inside", I say. He nods and we go to our respective elevator. I quickly find Arcee in her berth room.

"Arcee", I say quietly, though loud enough for her to hear me.

"Go away", she mutters.

"I have something that I want you to have", I say, holding out the piece of metal.

She took and read what it said. "Besties forever." She looks at me confused, "But we're barely even friends..."

I chuckle softly. "It's not between me and you. It's between you and Cliffjumper. A week ago, he had me make this as well as etch into his horn those same words. He told me to give that to you if something should ever happen to him."

Arcee gasps before she transforms and her holoform appears. She gives me a hug. "Thank you."

"It's no problem, Arcee", I say with a smile, hugging her back.

"Hey, I got patrol in the morning, want to come with?", Arcee asks, her holoform disappearing and she transforms.

"It depends on if Optimus lets me", I say. I go to the main room where I find Optimus at the computer.

"Hey, Optimus! Can I go on patrol with Arcee in the morning?" I ask.

"No", came his quick but gentle answer.

"Okay", I say, a hint of sadness is my voice.

Optimus glances at me, knowing I'm trying to guilt trip him especially when I give him the puppy dog eyes. He just returns his eyes to the computer. I huff softly. Normally that works. I sigh before going to the couch.

It was late and I needed sleep. Soon I fell asleep, though not with the most peaceful of dreams.

"Let her go!!" my father yells to the man holding me.

"Oh, I don't think that will happen", said the man. Everyone had masks on except for him. He had several scars going along his face.

"Who... who are you?", I whisper, my voice shaking.

"The name is Silas. Though, we are known as MECH", he says, glancing down at me. I look at my parents and I could see in their eyes that they know what I'm about to do.

They both shake their heads barely, telling me no. I plead with them. I can get us all out of here easily. They shake their heads once more.

"Now, little girl. Tell us where your robot friend is, or your father dies", Silas growls.

"What robot friend?!", I exclaim, struggling to get away. I hear a shot ring out and I look to my father. He's laying face down and there is a bullet hole in the back of his head. I scream and try to get away.

"Keep struggling and your mother dies too", Silas whispers.

"Jay, whatever you do, don't tell him!!", my mother screams before Silas gave the order to shoot her. I gasp, feeling tears stream down my face. I scream loudly and rip myself free from Silas' grasp. I run towards my mother, screaming her name.

"MOM!! MOM!! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!!", I scream. She looks at me before whispering one word to me.

"Run", her voice faint. I scramble up and run out of the house, dodging every MECH agent. I keep running and running but someome grabs a hold of both my arms and starts shaking me. I couldn't see them but I could hear their voice. It was deep and soothing.

"Jaymen... Jaymen, wake up", I soon recognize it, starting to realize it was a dream.

I gasp sitting upright and see a man standing in front of me. He had black hair and bright blue eyes. He was wearing red and blue. That gave away who it was. I stare at him for a few moments before I break down again, remembering my dream.

"Shh... It's okay, it wasn't real", Optimus whispers as he sits on the couch beside me in his holoform.

"That's the problem though... it was very much real...", I whisper. I could feel his gaze on me before he wraps his arms around me, pulling me close. I grabbed onto the front of his shirt and start crying again.

"Shh... It's okay... you don't need to cry... I'm here for you", he speaks again before humming a song.

It was a beautiful song and I almost fell asleep to it. Once he finished, he noticed my eyelids drooping.

"Go to sleep. I'll be here if you wake up", Optimus says to me. I hug him before falling asleep against his chest. I slept with a smile on my face.
