AKIRA WAS A MAN OF MANY WORDS, but the recent situation he was presented with shocked him to the core. His siblings were in front of him, The oldest calm, and collected. The second was a wreck. Was it because it had been their mother's death anniversary and the same day his arm had become paralyzed and lifeless? Or was it because of a different reason. Now that was the question he wanted and answer too.
Layla was playing with the necklace she had on, or more specifically, the ring the love of her life gave her, Hikaru.
Hikaru was part of the royal family of Ohm, another realm that depended on the balance of magic. Hikaru and Layla were childhood friends that turned into lovers. Their fate of marriage had been sealed a year before Sky and Zara's was. But unlike Zara and Sky's engagement, Hikaru and hers was made public and celebrated across most of the realms. Some people like Riven considered it old fashion, barbaric even, the whole idea of alliance and arranged marriage. But Layla nor Hikaru's family minded, as long as their precious children agreed to it, and unlike most alliances in their families, Layla and Hikaru agreed because they loved each other.
Layla was happy and content, she had a somewhat perfect family, except for the pain and guilt that clouded her mind every time she thought of her courageous mother. She was in love with someone who returned her feelings, and she was almost finished her schooling, she had a job that she earned and worked hard for, and made her family proud.
But it was days such as these, where she was confused, and indirect, sloppy even. Many teachers excused it and all students stayed clear of her for today, was a day nobody could converse with her, not unless you were her siblings or her fiancée. Today was the day she was completely and unapologetically vulnerable.
Layla felt like she was being judged when she met the eyes of her older brother, the only teacher she could tolerate in this entire school. "What's wrong?" Akira asked, trusting Layla to tell him everything. Layla felt like a deer that was petrified when faced with sudden bright lights. "I-" she paused as she looked over at her younger sister, the apple of both her and Akira's eye. Zara gave a pleading look too Layla, silently begging her not to tell him what she learned today. More specifically, what Layla saw.
"I'm just scared, with the whole incident of the burned one and Zara's roommate, I just don't want her to get in harm's way" Layla said quietly as she looked down. Squeezing her eyes shut and cursing herself for lying to their elder brother, who kept their best interests in mind. Zara let out a silent breath of relief, but Akira froze in shock.
"Did you say there was a burned one within your vicinity?" Akira asked in a gentle tone, but when the two sisters looked up to meet his gaze, his eyes were filled with fury. "Last night, Bloom was beyond the barrier, and when I finally noticed, our roommates and I went looking for her, she was running from a burned one, if it wasn't for Ms. Dowling, I'm pretty sure most of us would be dead" Zara replied honestly, or at least tried too. Nobody but the girls of the Winx suite knew about Stella's ring, and Zara would like to keep it that way. Akira didn't calm down. "Dowling saved you?" Akira asked.
Zara nodded her head rather innocently, not understanding the reason behind his annoyance or rage. "I thought you knew" Layla said, Akira's attention now on the older sister. He didn't reply to Layla nor Zara. "Don't worry about it anymore, I'll make sure no burned ones ever cross that barrier, and even if they somehow do, you won't be here, you will be home along with your sister." Zara nodded, Akira patted both their heads. Zara and Layla knew it was out of the affection he had for the two. Zara watched her brother pick up his coat that laid lazily on his chair and walk out of the office.
"What was that about?" Zara asked as she watched the desk, he was seated on previously. Layla didn't respond as she stared at her younger sister. "Why did I see Stella enter Sky and Riven's room?" Zara didn't dare say anything. the room now filled with a heavy silence.
Sebastian had shared a dorm with Hikaru, and coincidentally Hikaru and him were the neighbours of Sky and Riven. Sebastian watched as Hikaru was obviously frustrated, pulling at his hair and furrowing his eyebrows. Sebastian groaned in annoyance as Hikaru had paced around the room once again. "What has you so worked up?" Sebastian asked. Hikaru had stopped and smiled apologetically, a light blush tinting his pale skin.
He didn't notice the distress that he was causing Sebastian from how angry and anxious he had been. Hikaru had sighed before taking a seat next to Sebastian. "Layla and I saw Stella walk into Sky's room" The blonde raised a brow as he sat up straighter, he thought he heard the wrong thing. Stella and Sky? Wasn't that old news? He asked himself. Sebastian couldn't understand, He would have never expected something like that from Sky, I mean he was good, good enough to get Zara's father to choose him as a future husband. 'How could this happen' He asked himself. 'Why would she let this happen, didn't Zara and Sky love each other?' Sebastian felt a sudden burst of rage enter his body, he started to get uncomfortable in the room. He understood why Hikaru was passing, The prince of Ohm was walking in circles to keep his anger at bay.
"Is she in there right now?" Sebastian asked as he motioned to the left side of the room, on the other side of the wall was Sky's bedroom. "I'm assuming" Hikaru responded as he glared at the wall. Sebastian stood up, walking towards the entrance of their suite. Hikaru, still in his right mind, had stood in front of his roommate and long time friend. "Please don't, we have to talk to Zara first, rashly hurting Sky or going in the dorm to ruin him will not help Zara in the slightest and do more damage, remember Stella and Zara are roommates."
Sebastian had sighed. "Sometimes, you're too calm. I guess it's a trait you have from being from Ohm." Hikaru and Sebastian both smiled, even in a situation as dire as this. Their sense of friendship overcoming the need for revenge, or maybe it was because Hikaru was a fairy of emotion, put he specialized in providing a sense of calmness to the receiver.
Hikaru smiled before he turned around, the expression changing from a smile to Stoic. 'I want to hurt you' He thought as he looked at the picture, the one of Zara's and Sky's engagement. Everyone he cared for in that picture. Layla, Zara, Akira, Sebastian, and Layla's father. He felt angered that someone as irrelevant as Sky and Stella would try to disrupt that peace. 'Who did they think they were? Stella's kingdom relied on Ohm and Espero alike, if Zara's father wanted he would be able to trample and take control of Solaria, and Sky? What was Eraklyon but a kingdom who couldn't even protect their own.' Hikaru was reminded of Sky's fathers tale, how he was so courageous and died for the peace of the realms, but Hikaru knew from the tales told that was far from the truth. It was just there to justify the favouritism Silva had for Sky, and the reason why the blond shit-for-brains even got accepted to Alfea.
Hikaru wanted to hurt them, he wanted to hurt them bad, but he had to be patient, too act rashly would only allow them to win. So he smiled, he smiled until his mouth hurt, so he wouldn't be able to show what chaos he would install into Stella, and Sky's life alike.
Professor Dowling had waited anxiously for the message, waiting for a grand total of a few hours, while she was stressing over the request she received over a month ago. She knew he was coming, she just never knew it would be so soon. Dowling hadn't informed anyone else of the sudden circumstance, would they accept it? Would Akira be fine with the arrangement? Dowling didn't know what to do other than let him in after all, he had a place here before Sky did.
Just as the thought left her mind she had gotten a call, She hesitated before she slowly picked up the phone and spoke with a calm and collected voice, hiding her nerves. "Hello, This is Headmistress Dowling" She sounded like customer support, and she hated the fact she had to lower herself for this family.
"Dowling... It's good to hear from you again"
"As it is for me Ms." She was interuppted by a sickly sweet laugh,. One filled with mock and amusement thrown at her. It was humiliating.
"Don't lie love, I want one thing from you, let my son in your school and all you have done is forgiven"
"Of course, if you want to pay with the price of your head nailed to a frame and up in my office... that can be arranged" Dowling felt sick.
"What's his name?"
