It's crowded
Shutter sound ready
I'm pulling in close, zoom in
Jealousy, bitter silence
Look at the thrill in your body
Pikachu, Pika, Pikatte
Flowing in front of the mirror and under the light

"Who's there?"
The manager called out.
"Minho? Are you in there?"
Hana replied.
Minho's eyes widened at the sound of her voice, and for a moment, everything else seemed to fade away. His manager, still with his hand on the doorknob, looked over at Minho, a questioning glance in his eyes. Minho gave him a subtle nod.
"Let her in," Minho said, his voice softer than before, as he tried to push aside the pressure from the media and the upcoming press conference. He didn't want to deal with that at this exact moment. He wanted to see her.
The manager hesitated for a brief second, glancing at Minho's face, before opening the door. Hana stepped in, looking a little worn but a gleeful smile that Minho admired.
Her eyes locked onto his almost immediately. For a heartbeat, neither of them spoke. She eyed him all over, cuts on his face, kinesiology tape all over his arms and legs.
"Minho..." she began softly, but her voice trailed off as she took in the whole scene—the staff rushing around, his coach and manager looking tense.
"Wrong timing? Am I even allowed to be here?"
She blurted.
Minho blinked, caught off guard by her words. His eyes softened, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"No," he said gently, shaking his head. "You're not interrupting anything."
He glanced at the chaos around them—the staff rushing to attend to his wounds, the constant hum of voices outside—but when he looked back at Hana, it all seemed to fade into the background.
"Well I know you must be in pain, that guy was brutal, but I knew he didn't stand a chance. So this, is for your victory."
She pulled out a cup of pudding from her bag.
"I know you like this, and ever since you've been on a diet, I figured you could cheat just this one time, you coach doesn't need to know."
"Uhh..."
A man behind her, she figured in his late 30's, made her turn so quick.
"Hyung, this is Hana, my roommate. And Hana, this is Kim Jaehyun... my coach."
Hana's eyes widened a little as Minho introduced her to the man behind her. She hadn't expected to meet his coach in such an unexpected moment, but quickly masked her surprise with a polite bow, lowering her head slightly out of respect for his age and position.
"Nice to meet you, Coach Kim," she said with a gentle tone.
Coach Kim greeted her back, his expression unreadable for a moment. Then, as if sensing her nervousness, his features softened slightly.
"Nice to meet you too, Hana," he replied with a slight nod, before turning his gaze to Minho.
"Sorry, but he can still have the pudding, right?"
She asked sheepishly.
Minho chuckled, Hana's face flushed a little, awkwardness bubbling up inside her. She had only meant to offer a little comfort in the form of pudding, but now that Minho's coach had seen, it felt even weirder.
"Well, if Minho's getting pudding, then I guess I won't be the one to stop him," Coach Park said with a half-smile, though there was a glint of amusement in his eyes. "He's done really well tonight, so he deserves, I'm not going to argue."
Hana handed the pudding to Minho, trying to ignore the awkwardness in the air.
"It's nothing, really. Just wanted to do something nice for you. You've earned it."
"The paparazzi suddenly vanished from the outside the waiting rooms, that's the only way I got in."
I said, to keep the conversation going since he was to busy trying to get to the pudding.
"They're preparing for the medal ceremony. We should be heading there soon."
The coach replied instead.
Just as the coach spoke, a voice came over the PA system.
"All participants, please report back to the bout waiting area. I repeat, please return to the bout waiting area."
"Well, there's the call,"
Minho muttered, standing up a bit too quickly. He winced, a sharp pain shooting through his abdomen as he straightened up.
"Are you okay?" Hana asked, rushing to his side.
"Yeah, just a little sore," Minho replied, his voice strained.
"Took a bad hit to my abdomen. It's nothing serious."
"Have you checked him thoroughly?"
Hana turned to the medical staff, concern still etched on her face.
"Are you even medically qualified to nurse him?
The staff member, a middle-aged man with graying hair, looked up with a reassuring smile.
"I've been looking after him since he was 20 years old, miss. He's in good hands."
Minho gave Hana a gentle nudge.
"Hana, it's really fine. I've been through worse. This is normal."
He grabbed his white jacket, the sponsor's logo emblazoned across the chest, and began to put it on.
"Well, if you're sure..." Hana trailed off, though her worry was still evident.
"I'll go join the others then. Meet you by my car later?"
Minho paused, looking at her with a frown.
"Actually, I won't be coming home with you tonight."
Her brow furrowed in confusion.
"Why? Aren't you coming home?"
Minho's expression turned serious, his voice lowering.
"I'll be home later, but not anytime soon."
Hana's concern deepened. "Is something wrong?"
Minho sighed, rubbing his temple.
"I'll explain everything when I get home. Or, you might find out from the news first... because of that nut-job."
Hana's eyes widened, the realization hitting her. "The news?"
Minho nodded, a hint of frustration in his voice.
"I'm holding a press conference. Things have escalated. The media's might go out of control, and I need to clear the air."
She let out a breath, her shoulders relaxing.
"Okay, okay. That actually sounds good. It'll clear your name before it spirals out of control."
Minho gave a small, tired smile. "That's the plan." He then glanced at the clock, knowing they needed to head out soon. "I'll handle this, don't worry."
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
"The first round of IBA selection's winners to be announced shortly."
The male announcer finally spoke.
"Do you think Minho's gonna win a medal tonight?"
Felix asked excitedly.
"He played well, he deserves to."
Seungmin added.
"The paparazzi made things worse apparently."
I broke my silence.
"Why what do you mean?"
"He didn't have time to explain, he said he's going to hold a press conference after this. He's not coming home with us. He also said watch the news."
I said calmly.
"Oh I'm sure we could just... you know drive there. All the reporters would definitely be heading there, we should just follow one of them."
Felix said.
"How? They're not going to let us in you dumbass, we don't have a reporter's ID."
I chuckled.
"Just watch the news as we sit outside, better?"
Seungmin suggested.
"And get him food, that's most important he must be starving."
Jeongin added.
The room fell silent as the female announcer's voice echoed through the speakers.
"Here are the results we've all been waiting for. Keep in mind, only three of them will be making it to round two."
My heart raced as everyone leaned in, holding their breath in anticipation. Felix fidgeted, his eyes glued to the screen. "This is it," he whispered, tension in his voice.
"Third place, we have Jeon Jaejoon,"
the announcer said, and a ripple of applause followed, but the tension was still thick.
"Second place, Lee Dong Man."
The crowd's reaction was polite, but it was clear where their focus lay.
"And finally," she continued, "our man of the hour, first place goes to... Lee Minho!"
The words rang through the space, and for a moment, the room seemed to freeze. Then, the applause erupted. Felix and Jeongin shot up from their seat, grinning ear to ear, high fiving and hugging each other.
"Yes! I knew it!"
Seungmin shouted, pumping his fist into the air.
Hana let out a relieved sigh, her lips curving into a proud smile.
"He did it."
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
As we made our way in the venue, we could see reporters and photographers gathered in clusters near the entrance, all their attention focused on the empty chair on the main stage of the press room.
"He's probably running a little late here," Seungmin said, his tone reflective.
"You know how these things go. They'd be all over him if he was."
They somehow managed to push through with the bunch of paparazzi rushing inside the venue, no one really differentiated them.
The reporters, busy adjusting their cameras and preparing their questions, didn't seem to notice, too consumed by the arrival of the man they had been waiting for.
Minho stepped onto the stage with a calm, assured presence, his posture straight and confident. His formal attire seemed to accentuate the sharpness of his features—his black coat fit perfectly, the white shirt and black tie adding an air of refined simplicity.
"If there's another he's good at, he cleans up well."
Hana said her inner thoughts out loud.
The flashes from cameras started up again, rapid and unrelenting, as they captured every moment of his arrival. Minho briefly scanned the room, his gaze sweeping over the reporters and the crowd, before he took his seat at the center of the stage.
As Minho settled into his seat on stage, the trio glanced at each other, a teasing glint in their eyes. Hana, still caught up in the sight of Minho looking so polished, hadn't noticed the playful smirks forming around her.
Seungmin nudged her with a grin.
Jeongin chuckled, joining in with a sly look.
"Is this why you came? To see the 'Lee Minho, Suited Up' edition?"
Hana blinked, caught off guard by their teasing, and she quickly shook her head, trying to cover up her embarrassment. "I wasn't—I'm just saying, he looks good in a suit, okay? I didn't even know he'd wear a suit."
"Uh-huh, sure," Felix said, crossing his arms.
"Guys, this is not the time."
Hana hit them playfully.
Seungmin laughed, nudging her playfully.
Hana rolled her eyes, but couldn't suppress the amused grin that tugged at the corners of her mouth. "You guys are impossible."
As the teasing continued, Hana couldn't help but laugh, her friends being their usual silly selves made the moment, the press conference feel a little less intimidating.
The press conference room fell silent as Minho finally took the mic from table, his calm demeanor almost at odds with the storm of questions that were about to hit. The tension in the air was palpable, but Minho's posture was composed, his eyes scanning the sea of faces with a quiet resolve.
A reporter from the front row, eager to get the first question in, raised their hand.
"Minho, first of all, congratulations on your win tonight. But the rumors surrounding your recent match with Son Myeong-oh instead of Jeon Jaejoon have taken a life of their own, and almost immediately if I may add. Can you shed some light on what really happened?"
The question was direct, and Minho's eyes flickered for a moment. He took a deep breath, knowing this was the moment he had been preparing for. He leaned forward slightly, his voice firm but controlled.
"I was originally supposed to fight against Jeon Jaejoon today, but due to misconduct, there was an issue only 15 minutes prior to the match. Told me I had to change my opponent, that's how I ended up with Son Myeong-oh. I fought for it, I really did, to keep things the way they were, but I was given no choice."
The room fell quiet, the weight of Minho's words hanging in the air. The reporter, taken aback by the unexpected revelation, quickly jotted down notes, but didn't miss a beat before firing another question.
"That's quite a shift in circumstances," the reporter said, her voice laced with both curiosity and skepticism. "But even with the last-minute change, your performance was still impressive. Some are saying that your victory was somewhat... controversial. Do you think the outcome would have been different if you'd been fighting Jeon Jaejoon instead?"
Minho's expression remained steady, but his gaze hardened slightly. He paused before answering, considering his words carefully.
"I can't speak for the outcome of a match that never happened," he replied, his tone measured but firm. "What I can say is that I stepped into that ring with everything I had, regardless of the opponent. Son Myeong-oh or Jeon Jaejoon—doesn't matter. I'm not someone who backs down. I fought hard, I fought clean, and I won because I was the better fighter tonight. End of story."
Another hand shot up from the back of the room. A reporter, younger and more eager, leaned forward, her question blunt. "But the accusations of foul play are still circulating. How do you respond to those who say the match was unfair, especially considering the circumstances of the opponent switch?"
Minho's jaw tightened slightly, but his response was calm, unflinching.
"I can't control what people choose to believe. All I can do is stick to the truth. The change in opponents was beyond my control. But I'm not going to let anyone tarnish my reputation with unfounded accusations. I fought the match. I earned that win. People can say what they want, but it doesn't change the facts."
A brief silence followed, before another reporter asked, "What about the comments Son Myeong-oh made about the fight afterward? He implied that you had an unfair advantage."
Minho sighed, the first hint of frustration breaking through his otherwise composed demeanor. "Myeong-oh's entitled to his opinion, just like everyone else. But if you ask me, it's a little late to cry foul after the bell has rung. I'm not here to get into a war of words with him. I respect every fighter in the ring, but I'm not going to let anyone discredit my hard work. And besides it wasn't me who tried to play dirty, and it wasn't me who got two warnings in the ring today."
The air in the room seemed to shift slightly, the tension simmering under the surface. Another reporter raised their hand, her voice more conciliatory.
"You've made it clear you won this match on your terms. But moving forward, are you concerned that these rumors will continue to follow you? How do you plan to handle the media attention from here on out?"
Minho leaned back in his chair, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp. "It's inevitable," he said, his voice steady. "The media's job is to stir things up, and that's not something I can change. But I'm not concerned with the noise. Because I play ethically, and I'm well aware of good sportsmanship which I'm sure is really evident through my matches. I never have cheated, done anything to play in my favors, and I'll continue to play without deception.
A few more reporters exchanged glances, clearly impressed by his calm and composed response. Another hand went up, and the reporter asked, "With all the attention on you now, do you plan on addressing these rumors further, or will you let time clear things up?"
Minho took a moment, his eyes scanning the room before settling back on the reporter.
"I've said what I needed to say. I don't need to keep repeating myself. The truth is clear, and my actions will continue to speak louder than anything else. If people want to focus on the noise, they can. But I'm going to focus on what matters—my future fights, my career, and staying true to myself."
His answer hung in the air for a moment, and the room was quiet. Even the reporters seemed to pause before jotting down their final notes. Minho looked over to the Manager to signal him that he was done with this now.
"Alright, thank you everyone," the female announcer said, breaking the tension.
"It looks like that will be all for today's press conference. And, Lee Minho, we appreciate you taking the time to clear up the situation."
As Minho stood up from the table, the flashes of cameras intensified, capturing the last moments of the press conference. He gave a quick nod, his face unreadable as he walked off the stage.
As Minho walked off the stage, his manager and coach quickly joined him.
"Good job, Minho," the manager said, his voice low, but there was a hint of relief in it.
"That went better than expected."
Minho let out a sigh of relief as he turned to face them, running a hand through his hair.
"Thank god it did. I was trembling under the table."
He laughed softly, the tension in his body starting to dissipate.
It felt strange—almost like an out-of-body experience to finally speak out and set the record straight, but it also felt good to have it behind him.
Hana, Seungmin, Felix, and Jeongin were waiting outside, standing close together. As Minho approached, Hana couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over her. She had watched the press conference unfold, and while she admired his ability to keep calm under pressure, she knew how much it had taken out of him.
"You did great," Seungmin said, his voice steady but there was an edge of concern in his eyes. "You handled it better than I would've."
Felix clapped him on the back.
"Yeah, man. You nailed it! I was half-expecting you to lose it for a second."
Jeongin grinned, but his tone was a little softer.
"You're stronger than I thought. Seriously."
Seungmin chuckled lightly.
"It's like you were trying to keep a cool face, but we could see the nerves. You did great though—honestly."
Jeongin added with a teasing smirk,
"I thought you were about to drop a mic at the end there and walk off like a boss."
Minho gave him a playful look. "Yeah, well, next time, I'll make sure to do that. Might as well make a dramatic exit if I'm doing it."
Hana stepped forward, giving Minho a small but warm smile.
"I'm proud of you," she said quietly, not wanting to add too much to the moment but still needing to express her relief.
"I thought I told you to go home."
He told Hana.
Hana's smile softened as she met his gaze, her heart skipping a beat at his words. There was a hint of playfulness in his tone, but she could also hear the exhaustion beneath it.
"How could we, after all that's happening."
"And we also got you food," Felix added with a grin. "You took your sweet time getting here."
Minho shrugged, trying to downplay it.
"Yeah, well, I needed to clean up, change, look presentable."
Hana raised an eyebrow, her tone playful. "Maybe you should've kept that beaten-up look. Acted like the victim for a bit."
Minho smirked, shaking his head. "Hey, I'm the winner here. Gotta look the part."
"Oh right," Hana said with a teasing glint in her eyes.
"Where's your medal? I need a close-up picture of you, gold and all."
"It's with my coach. He's gonna box it up for me." Minho leaned back slightly, looking amused. "Why do you want a picture?"
"Why wouldn't I?" Hana replied, her voice almost incredulous.
"You literally won gold, it's a moment worth capturing."
Felix chuckled from behind her.
"Don't worry, she'll get over it. She'll get tired of taking pictures after a while."
Hana shot him a playful glare. "What do you mean?"
He smirked, arms crossed.
"He wins way too many times to count. This is just another day for him."
"Minho! Are you going home with them or are you coming with us?" his coach called, striding over with a purposeful look.
Minho looked up, giving him a slight smile. "Hyung, go get some rest. It's been a long day. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"
His coach sighed, but nodded, understanding the need for space.
"Alright, take care. Don't stay up too late."
He then handed Minho a small wooden box, the IBA logo engraved on the front.
"Here's your medal," he said, his tone softer now.
Minho took the box, carefully running his fingers over the polished surface.
"Thanks, hyung," he said quietly, the weight of the medal almost symbolic of the day's hard work. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Come on, now open it, and wear it!" Hana urged, her excitement bubbling over.
Minho couldn't help but smile at the sight of her enthusiasm, her eyes practically glowing with pride for him. He chuckled under his breath. Cute, he thought.
"Okay, okay, I'm wearing it," he said, undoing the box with a teasing sigh, only to be met with Hana's eager grin.
He slipped the medal over his neck, feeling the cool metal settle comfortably against his chest. The weight of it was a reminder of everything he had fought for, and the energy in the room seemed to shift.
Hana's face lit up as she took a step back, eyes wide. "There, that's more like it. Now you truly look like a winner."
Minho laughed, adjusting the medal with a playful wink. "Better?"
"Much better," she replied with a satisfied nod, her voice light but full of admiration.
"Do they even realize that we're here?"
Felix jokingly whispered to Jeongin and Seungmin, his eyes flicking over to Minho and Hana.
Seungmin smirked, leaning in slightly.
"Yeah, it's like they're the only ones in the room. But honestly, I think it's kinda cute."
"HanMin needs to become real, it's annoying that they won't."
Jeongin gushed.
Seungmin raised an eyebrow, glancing between Jeongin and the pair of them.
"What's HanMin?"
Felix snickered, shaking his head.
"It's their ship name, Seungmin. Hana and Minho.
Jeongin sighed dramatically.
"If only they'd just admit it. They're perfect for each other."
