Minho POV:
After saying goodbye to Hana, I went to my parents house.
There was something really important I needed to do.
Get my cats.
I missed them so much, I've been so restless without them.
Thankfully my roommate loves and has no allergies to cats, so that's good.
I had three cats, Soonie- the oldest, Doongi- the middle child and Dori- The baby. They're all grown now, but they'll always be my babies that I've been raising ever since high school.
I first stopped by the grocery to grab some beer, before going home. I dint know what else they'd like so I just got my favorites, rice crispies, ramen and chips.
I'd brought the cats over to the new house way in advance before i actually moved in, they seemed pretty chill, that's why i finalized this house, since I was worried about them being uncomfortable at any other place. So I decided to get all three of them here since the house was set now. I got them into their carriers and loaded all of their toys, beds, a cat tower, food and treats, food bowls, litter boxes and litter in the car.
I came back by 1pm, seemed like Hana had already left, just like she told me. I let the cats out slowly not to startle them and let them explore, while they did whatever cats do, I decided to tidy up the living room, make comfortable space for them and their bed and the large cat tower with three other beds for the each of them. Good thing the Living room was quite big, so it dint look too congested.
Seemed like Soonie and Doongie found their spot. They were sitting by the window where the sun shone brightly. Dori was still trying to figure out his favorite spot, he was always a little more cautious than his brothers. I tried to play with him, offer him treats to make him more comfortable, and that seemed to do the trick. He eventually settled on the cat tower, away from the others, which he usually did. He liked his space, it was always the other two invading it.
A few hours later, the cats approached me, meowing. I glanced at the clock, 3pm. Yeah it was time for food. I showed them their food bowls to which they sprinted within a blink of an eye.
It was cute how the new place dint bother them at all, they acted like everything was normal, it was still all the same.
As the clock advanced to 4pm, I stopped procrastinating and got up and went to take a bath. When that was done, i wore decent clothes and I tidied up my room.
I still had two hours or so before she came back, and i had absolutely nothing to do.
Hana POV:
I left an hour after Minho, around noon, and made my way to the library. It was a bit of a walk, but the movement helped ease the nausea that had been nagging at me all morning. When I finally arrived, I grabbed a cup of iced coffee and picked up the books I had been eagerly waiting for. I found a quiet spot in the far corner, put on my headphones, and tried to focus on studying.
But it wasn't going well. Despite my efforts, I couldn't shake the discomfort. I kept sipping my coffee, hoping it would help, even though I wasn't sure why I thought it would. I just needed something to distract myself.
By 4 p.m., the wave of anxiety hit me hard, and it only seemed to grow worse the longer I stayed. I knew it was time to leave. The thought of staying and risking a full-blown attack was too much, so I packed up my things and headed home.
The walk back was tiring, but somehow the busy streets brought me a sense of comfort, their sounds and movement a welcome distraction from the chaos in my head.
I got home around 4:30 and walked through the door, only to be met with a surprising sight. Three cats were lounging in the living room.
"CATS?" I gasped, my heart suddenly racing, more from the shock than anything else.
I quickly knelt down to pet the one with soft gray fur behind its ears. As I touched it, the cat gave a soft purr before turning away. I felt a small wave of calm wash over me, but the cat's response made me apologize instinctively.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you didn't like that," I cooed gently, offering the cat an understanding smile as I backed off.
Minho POV:
I didn't hear the door open, but as I was drying my hair, I suddenly heard a voice from the living room, "Where'd these cats come from?" I quickly turned off the hair dryer and left it on the table, still half-damp, before rushing into the living room. Looks like Hana had met my cats.
"Surprise," I said, unable to hide a grin.
She turned toward me, her face a mix of shock and pure joy. Her eyes sparkled as she asked, "Is this why you asked me all those cat-related questions?"
I chuckled. Seeing her this happy made me smile too. "Yeah, I wanted to make sure there wouldn't be an issue."
"Well, I absolutely love this! I've always wanted a pet!" she exclaimed, practically glowing.
"Well, I'm glad you like the arrangement," I said, feeling a bit more at ease.
Hana left the cats behind and flopped down on the couch, looking completely wiped out, probably from all the studying. I sat down on the opposite couch, and after a few moments of comfortable silence, she asked, "Do you have any siblings?"
I raised an eyebrow.
"No, I'm an only child. Why do you ask?"
"I want to get to know you more—you're my roommate, after all,"
she replied, sounding a bit shy.
"Ah, I see," I said with a small nod. "Well, like I said, no siblings. Just me. I grew up alone, but my cats are like my siblings. They fit right in that category."
I chuckled a bit. "What about you? Any siblings?"
She laughed softly.
"Nope, I'm an only child too. And, well, no pets either," she added with a playful grin.
I smiled at her response, feeling a little more connected with her.
My eyes drifted over to the bags in the living room, and I immediately noticed something that made my stomach drop—there were beer cans inside them.
I gasped.
I'd forgotten to grab the drinks on my way back.
"Oh shit."
Minho noticed my reaction and looked up from where he was sitting. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"I'm so stupid, I forgot to buy the drinks," I said, feeling a wave of frustration wash over me.
I mentally cursed myself. If I hadn't gotten sick, if I hadn't overreacted so much, if I hadn't been so on edge, I wouldn't have forgotten the drinks.
Minho's voice was calm as he spoke, trying to reassure me.
"Hey, um, it's okay. I got drinks. Look."
He pointed toward the bags.
"And I got snacks too."
His attempt to make me see the positive side of things actually helped calm my nerves a little. I couldn't help but chuckle.
"There are three grown men, plus me, who are going to drink. Now tell me with a straight face that this will be enough. I don't know about you, but those two can drink a lot."
"Touché," he replied with a grin. "Well, what else can we do? Let's go."
"Wait, what?"
"Let's go get the drinks?"
"Oh, right, right. You'll tag along?"
"Yeah, I'll help you out, if you don't mind."
"I don't mind. Thanks."
He flashed me a smile before heading to his room to grab a jacket. "I'm ready. Let's go."
We walked to the nearest supermarket, picked up a few drinks—nothing too excessive, because I wasn't about to deal with three completely wasted guys. I knew I wouldn't drink too much myself; alcohol always made my insides feel weird.
"Since we're already here, should we buy groceries? There's not much at our place, at this point we might starve," I said, laughing.
"Definitely. Milk was out this morning, and we need some vegetables. Oh, and some meat too," Minho replied.
I nodded and wandered around the store, picking up what we needed.
By 6 p.m., we were back home, Minho carrying most of the bags.
"You should let me carry one more bag, it's too heavy," I suggested.
"No, keep walking," he said, grinning. "I'm not letting a girl carry heavy things when I'm right here."
"Fineee, although very gentlemanly of you," I teased, dragging the word out.
As we walked into the house, he asked, "How come you were back so fast? You said you'd be back by 6, but you were home at 4:30?"
"Oh, I don't know," I replied, trying to sound casual. "I just didn't want to stay any longer, so I decided to come back." I avoided the full truth.
Minho seemed to accept my explanation, though. If it were Seungmin or Jeongin, I'd definitely have been caught in a lie by now.
Once inside, we unloaded and arranged all the groceries in the fridge before retreating to our rooms to relax. It would be a while before the others showed up.
As I sat down, I couldn't help but wonder why I had almost had a panic attack at the library. It had been the quietest, safest place, with nothing to trigger anything. But the moment I left, my heart had been racing, my chest tight. The moment I got home and found the cats—along with Minho—it all seemed to fade away. I didn't dread being home; in fact, I felt relief. It was nice to have someone waiting for me.
My phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts. It was Jeongin calling. I shook my head, as if to clear away the lingering thoughts, and answered.
"What's up?"
"Is it okay if we come now? Like, within 10 minutes? We finished earlier than expected."
"Oh, thank god. I was getting bored. We're both home, waiting for you guys."
"We'll be there in 10."
"Waiting."
We hung up. I let out a sigh of relief. I didn't want to be alone, not right now.
I stood up and walked over to Minho's room, knocking on the door.
"Just giving you a heads-up, they'll be here in a few minutes."
"Be right outside," he replied.
