08: Busy Day
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
Minho POV:
I finally went to bed at the dead hour of 2 am after exhausting every bit of energy that made me so restless.
It was around 6:30am that i woke up again to go for my morning jog and workout. I needed to keep fit almost all the time because boxing is not at all easy on the body.
I came back around 8:30am and took a bath, and by the time i was done, it was close to 9:00am. The house seemed silent too, seems like my roommate has already left. I got out and got dressed, but now i was starving and absolutely needed breakfast.
I boiled a few eggs seasoned with pepper and salt, a glass of yogurt- bananas - blueberry smoothie and a glass of water.
I thought of taking a small nap till 12pm, before going to the boxing gym. Ever since I won the last National tournament, I was taking it a little easy , a few weeks of rest, so my workouts weren't too tiring. I had worked so hard for my success, i knew i deserved this break. But i feel lonely without boxing, so i still go to the gym, goof around with my mentor and coach, practice a little, and later catch a coffee or sometimes a beer with my friends.
But obviously since my friends have their own leading life, they're busy on weekdays, so ill have to patiently wait for the weekend to meet them. Maybe one of them would be free, maybe.
Hana POV:
I woke up around 7:20 AM to get ready for college. My first lecture was at 8:30, followed by a seminar for all third-year students at 10 AM. I took a quick shower and applied minimal makeup—just enough to look presentable. As usual, I skipped breakfast, opting instead for my daily coffee from my favorite café, conveniently located five minutes from campus.
It was only when I was heading out that I realized Minho wasn't home. Typical. He stayed up late yet somehow managed to be up and out before me. I supposed our conversation would have to wait.
Sitting in the car, I found myself reflecting on how fast time had passed. Third year already. I'd made it this far, just months away from turning 24, and in another six or seven months, I'd be in my final year. Most of my classmates were already 25, but that was nothing new—I had always been younger than my peers.
Not because I was exceptionally smart or anything. I had just started school early, which came with its own kind of pressure. When you see people around you doing better, even if they're a little older, it's hard not to question if you're falling behind.
I still remember taking the college entrance exam at 17 and enrolling just four months before my 18th birthday. Seungmin and Jeongin made a huge fuss about it, dragging me out to have fun before I got buried under textbooks. They even threw me a small birthday party, just the three of us.
By the time I started my residency, I'd be 26. It was daunting. We all knew the reality—things weren't going to get any easier.
It took me ten minutes to reach the café, but the morning rush was brutal. I waited five minutes just to place my order and another five to get it. By the time I had my coffee in hand, it was already 8:20 AM. Good thing my college was only five minutes away. If I drove just a little faster, I could still make it with time to spare.
And I did. I arrived with exactly five minutes left. Catching my breath, I pulled out my books, and before I knew it, the professor walked in to start his two-hour lecture—one of my favorites, GYN/OB surgery.
After class, I forced myself to grab a sandwich from the cafeteria, just enough to keep me going. Then, I headed to the seminar. It was on mental and physical well-being, led by some well-known speaker. Unfortunately, it was a complete waste of three hours—uninspiring, unhelpful, and honestly, I could have spent that time being productive elsewhere.
As soon as it ended, I rushed to the hospital for rotations. Our schedule had us rotating through different surgical and medical departments to gain hands-on experience. It could get intense, especially when we were asked to assist in the ER with minor consultations. By the time I arrived, it was 3:30 PM. I changed into my scrubs and joined our attending resident, ready for the long shift ahead.
Just as I was about to head home, my phone rang.
Jeongin.
The moment his name flashed on my screen, I couldn't help but smile. I answered, pressing the phone to my ear.
"Hey, Jeongin, I missed you guys. I've been so busy the entire day."
"Hana, we missed you too," he said. "We wanted to check in—everything's fine at your place, right?"
I chuckled. "Yeah, everything's fine. I finally unpacked, so my room is set now."
I didn't mention the noise from Minho's room. I'd talk to him myself. No need for them to start questioning him over the phone.
"That chuckle is the most unconvincing thing in the world," Jeongin muttered. "But if you say it's okay, then fine."
"Ha-ha, very funny, Jeongin," I deadpanned.
He ignored my sarcasm. "Why've you been so busy today? I thought you'd be home by now, but from the background noise, I'm guessing you're driving."
"It was a long day. They needed the interns to help out," I sighed. "And yeah, I'm driving."
Before Jeongin could respond, I heard a familiar voice in the background. Seungmin.
"Hey, give me the phone," he said lazily. "I'm too tired to dial her."
"No," Jeongin shot back. "If you want to talk to her, call her yourself."
"Quit being a brat. My phone's on the charger, and I'm too lazy to get up."
"That sounds like a you problem."
"You put that tongue back inside, Jeongin."
"I don't want to, I don't want to, I don't want to," Jeongin sang, clearly just to annoy him.
I laughed at the chaos, they were so effortlessly funny. I yelled over the phone, the phone was probably on speaker now, since Seungmin wasn't whining anymore.
"What is wrong with you guys, God," I yelled over the phone. The call was definitely on speaker now—Seungmin had stopped whining, which meant he had no reason to fight with Jeongin anymore. "I know the phone's on speaker now since Jeongin's not bullying you, and you're not whining."
Seungmin and Jeongin ignored my accusation entirely.
"Have you eaten?" Seungmin asked, his voice suddenly serious. "Why were you out so late?"
"Jeez, Dad," I sighed. "No, I haven't had dinner yet. I'm on my way home now."
"You better eat when you get home," Jeongin warned. "Also, me and Seungmin are coming over this Saturday for a sleepover. And before you try to argue, we don't care whether you like it or not. We're coming."
I groaned. "Ew, why are you coming over?"
"Because we said so," they chimed in unison. "Cry about it."
I laughed at them. "Fine, you can come over. Do you guys want a drink, or are we doing this sleepover sober?"
"Nah, we're drinking," Seungmin replied. "It's been so long, and you hate clubs."
"Fine, I'll stock up on drinks," I muttered.
"Are you reaching home now?" Jeongin asked.
"Yeah, just pulled into the parking lot. Why?"
"Nothing," he said. "We were just waiting for you to get home safely before we hung up."
I paused for a second, a small smile tugging at my lips. "Aww, guys, that's really sweet. But I'm here now, so you can hang up."
There was a brief silence before Jeongin spoke again. "Is there anything you want to tell us?"
I frowned. "Well, that's random. No, I don't."
Which was clearly a lie. I knew it, and they definitely knew it too. I heard a simultaneous sigh from the other side.
"Why?" I asked, suddenly more alert. "Is something wrong?"
"We'll talk to you when we meet," Seungmin said, his tone unreadable.
Oops. LOL. I guess I'm in trouble now. I'm already dreading the interrogation.
"Oh. Alright," I mumbled. "Well, see you then?"
"Yeah," Jeongin said. "Good night, loser."
"You too, bro. You too."
I walked to the lift and then to my flat. I punched in the code and walked into an empty house. Maybe Minho wasn't home yet. I took off my shoes and hung my coat on the rack by the door.
I went to my room, changed into fresh clothes, and took a bath. Afterward, I remembered I had apples from yesterday, so I grabbed one and ate it.
It was already 11:40 PM, and Minho still wasn't home. I figured he wasn't coming back tonight, so I went to bed. I was too tired to stay awake any longer.
