Hana POV:
"Hi, I'm Hana—Choi Hana. Nice to meet you!" I said, introducing myself to the guy standing in front of me.
I had left Seungmin and Jeongin with Minho in the living room to explore the house, but honestly, I was more intrigued by him than anything else.
I had seen the house before, but I had never laid eyes on Minho. And wow—he looked almost perfect. I didn't know much about what made someone attractive, but there was something about him. His jawline was sharp and defined, and his big, soft eyes held a warmth that contrasted with his intimidating presence.
Deciding to break the ice instead of just stealing glances, I asked,
"What are you guys talking about?"
"Are you sure you're going to be okay living here?" Minho asked, looking genuinely concerned.
I felt a little flustered. Was this about living with a guy I barely knew? "Why wouldn't I be? Oh wait, is it about the 'living with a roommate who's a guy' thing? Seungmin, Jeongin, come on—I'll be fine, I promise!" I said, giving them an exaggerated look.
"Don't worry. I don't see a problem, yet. Unless you're a weirdo or something?"
I watched his eyes widen in surprise, a hint of confusion creeping in. Maybe I shouldn't joke around so soon.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean it like that; I was just joking!" I said, embarrassed.
He laughed.
"No problem. Your concerns are valid, I guess. And no, I'm not a weirdo."
"See? No problem at all," I reassured Seungmin and Jeongin.
"Well, if she ever needs help with anything, and you guys aren't around, I can always lend a hand. That's what roommates are for, right?"
Minho said, casting a glance at the two, who looked less than thrilled.
"Fine, but if you do anything wrong, you're dead,"
Seungmin declared, though I hoped he was exaggerating.
"What he said," Jeongin added, giving Minho a scrutinizing look.
"Hey! You can't just threaten someone you've just met!"
I giggled, shaking my head at their antics.
"Oh, but I just did," Seungmin shot back, grinning.
"Don't worry; they're just messing with you. But seriously, don't test him,"
I added with a nudge to Seungmin.
Minho nodded, looking amused. "Don't worry; I'll try not to be a bother. I'll be in my room now, but if you need help moving things—or anything at all—just call me. I look forward to getting to know you guys, assuming I'll see you around."
As he headed to his room, I couldn't help but think he was more sociable than he appeared.
"We're still going to check on you often," Seungmin said, his tone serious.
"Yeah, you won't stop us from doing that," Jeongin added, his expression mockingly stern.
"I'm not even going to argue with you. As much as I don't want to burden you, I'd appreciate your visits. It gets boring sometimes," I admitted.
"Yeah, we know—we're just that fun and cool," Seungmin replied cheekily.
I rolled my eyes. "Okay, okay. Don't push it! Let's get unpacking," I said, laughing at their antics.
This is exactly why i love spending time with them. They sort of pull me out of those thoughts, but when they're gone I slip back in.
Minho POV:
I stepped away from the living room, feeling it wasn't my place to linger any longer. I couldn't help but wonder—was one of them her boyfriend? It wouldn't surprise me if she was dating one of them; they were all pretty good-looking.
Hana, too, had her own charm. She had soft features and was petite, almost reminding me of my best friend, Changbin. Sorry, Binnie.
I could see us getting along well; she seemed like an open person, at least from what I observed with her friends.
Seungmin's POV:
Me and Jeongin are not satisfied with the decision Hana made,
Moving in even when she knows its a guy, all though she found out late.
What if he tries something?
I don't know if it for the worse or better, But he doesn't look the type to do something like that.
I'd rather gag myself than confess so soon that the guy looks and acts decent.
I knew we were being paranoid, but it felt justified.
Hana isn't great at reassuring us. She tries, and she thinks it works, but Jeongin and I know her better than she realizes. She often insists that she's fine and can handle everything herself. That's the crux of our concern—she believes she can manage, right up until things spiral out of control. Then it hits her: maybe she can't handle it after all. And even then, she won't ask for help until it's glaringly obvious something is wrong.
It's frustrating. Why does she let it get to that point?
This has been a recurring issue for the past seven or eight months. Jeongin and I both noticed it, and it was hard to ignore. At first, I thought it was just me, but when I brought it up with Jeongin, he felt the same way. You could see it in her face and her actions—something wasn't right. Usually, I can piece things together within weeks of noticing, but this time, it's different.
I can't figure it out, and I doubt I will. She's hiding it too well, and that worries us even more.
The only way left now is:
One, she finally cracks under that tough wall that she's build and opens up
Or
Two, i really hope it doesn't come to that, Until something happens to her.
Jeongin POV:
It's around 6 p.m., and Hana is taking us out for dinner, as promised. She said she couldn't make future commitments because she'd either forget or get too busy, which we totally understand since her shifts at the hospital are always long and tiring.
We chose a hotpot restaurant, and Hana let us order a bunch of dishes. Well, at least Seungmin and I did. Hana, on the other hand, barely touched her food.
"Hana, is something wrong? Why aren't you eating?" I asked, my mouth stuffed with sizzling meat.
"Close your mouth while you eat, idiot. And no, nothing's wrong."
She chuckled as she replied.
I placed a number of sizzling pieces of meat on her plate for her to eat.
I also noticed that she's getting thinner every time we saw .
I piled some more pieces of meat onto her plate, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Each time we met, she seemed to be getting thinner.
"No, Jeongin, I'm okay. I don't need more. I'm not sure why, but I'm full. Don't worry about me, eat well, okay?" she insisted, her smile not quite reaching her eyes.
"Are you sure you're full? You barely ate anything," Seungmin chimed in, ever the observant one. He picks up on things I sometimes overlook, and I could tell he was concerned too.
"Yes, I'm full. It's not like I didn't eat anything. I had meat and rolled eggs with kimchi. I just don't feel like eating anything else," she said, trying to sound convincing.
Seungmin sighed, clearly frustrated. "Okay then, we can't really force you."
We attempted to keep the conversation light after that. "How's the hospital internship going?" I asked, hoping to distract her.
"Oh yea, I've been meaning to ask you." Seungmin added
"Oh yeah, that. Well, it's going okay for now. It's a bit challenging, running around and following orders from the seniors. At this point, it's like any other part-time job, except it has that serious vibe. I can't wait for this year to be over and finally be a full-time intern. Balancing studying and work is hard," she replied, her voice steady, but I could sense an underlying weariness.
"What about you guys, how's working as vocal trainer looking out for you?
What about you guys? How's the vocal training going?"
She asked, shifting the focus back to us.
"Oh, it's going well! Just under strict surveillance,"
I said with a laugh.
"Oh? Why's that? Did you mess up?"
She teased.
"No way! It's quite the opposite, actually. They think we're too young for the position, but also too talented to ignore. So they're just keeping a close eye on us,"
Seungmin added with a grin.
"Good job, guys! That's amazing. I honestly thought you did something wrong,"
Hana said, her laughter lighting up the table.
After about an hour, we finished our meal, and Hana went to pay the bill. As we stood by the handwashing sink, I glanced at her. "It's a bit chilly now, isn't it?" she said, blowing on her palms.
"Yeah, it is. Walk fast before you catch a cold,"
Seungmin replied, rubbing his hands together.
We took Seungmin's car, since we needed to drop Hana off before heading back to our place. She insisted she could manage the rest of the boxes since it was just her books, clothes, and toiletries. We had already helped her move the bigger furniture—like her bed and vanity—into the right spots.
She can be so picky and indecisive, but honestly, I didn't mind. Spending time with her was what mattered.
There are times when even our best efforts can't lift the weight off her shoulders. I just wish we knew what was really going on in her mind. Is she happy with us, or is she just putting on a facade? In those moments, she makes us believe everything is okay, but I know that's not entirely true.
"Bye, Hana! Take care, okay? If there's anything—" I started to say, but she cut me off.
"I know, Jeongin. I'll ask you guys for help if I need anything,"
she said with her best reassuring smile.
"Bye, Hana. See you soon," Seungmin added.
She nodded and waved goodbye as we rolled up the windows and drove away, heading back to our own place.
