Chapter 6

Gwi's POV

I stared at the girl asleep on my bed. I said I wouldn't care...but from the looks of it, no one did. I got to my feet, frowning. Placing the gayageum back in its chest, the memory of what happened earlier today went through my mind.

                     ------flashback------

"-to find him, but there are men stationed all over the city. If there's any news, we will know immediately", Doyun reported. I sat quietly, reading and rereading one of the yellow flyers. I said nothing, and this obviously made him nervous.

I hummed. This darned guardian was getting on my nerves, but it was only a matter of time...I felt my temper flaring- I knew it was because I hadn't fed in a while. I turned to Doyun.

"Minister."

"Yes, my lord?"

"I'm hungry."

He visibly tensed. The corner of my lips twitched as I stared at him.

"What- What would you like, my lord?", he asked, you know, like a fool. I rolled my eyes.

"Honestly...I wonder how you passed your exams. Why do think I left her alive?", I said in a bored tone. I knew I'd hurt his pride. It was fun seeing him so nervous.

"Y-Yes, my lord", he stuttered, "I will bring her at the end of the week-"

"No."

"No- my lord?"

"Bring her now."

He gulped, his Adam's apple almost hidden by the chain mail around his neck. I internally scoffed. Did he really think that could stop me?

"Now... my lord?", he asked hesitantly. I turned to him with a cocked brow.

"Yes. Is that going to be a problem?", I asked him. He shook his head furiously.

"Definitely not. Right away."

"Mm. Hurry off now", I commanded, shooing him away with my hand. I scoffed at his retreating figure- such a repulsive person. The image of his daughter suddenly flashed through my mind.

I sighed. She was quite unfortunate. I turned toward the library so I could occupy myself while I waited for her arrival.

Not even an hour later, she was brought to me.

I was not pleased with what I saw. She looked tired and pale, the bags under her eyes more pronounced than last time. How hard was it to get some sleep in that house? I couldn't feed from her when she was like this...if she didn't die, she'd be in a bad condition.

I sighed internally. If I couldn't feed, she might as well do some work for me.

(A/N: Imagine this but him fully dressed, no abs on display)

I left her in the library but stayed alert just in case. I shook my head- she wasn't dying, just tired. Why was I so worried anyway? But that didn't stop me from perking up when I heard a chair screech.

It took me a while to decide, but eventually I walked over to see what she was up to. Fortunately I walked in just when she was about to lose her balance. A small cry emanated from her and my gut clenched, before I darted over and caught her.

I caught the look of surprise on her face before a book landed on her head. I bit back the smile tugging at my lips.

Setting her down then taking the book off, I found myself helping her put the rest of the books away. She didn't look as pale as before but she still needed rest.

"Put this back then come to the inner chamber", I told her, then walked off. When she eventually walked in I noticed how tense she looked.

I then realized she still thought I was going to feed from her. So I immediately but discreetly (not that she knew in the first place) used compulsion on her when I held her chin, asking her if she liked gayageum music.

It had been a while since I'd played, so I picked the tune my fingers knew by heart. Compulsion and music were powerful together, and soon her eyelids began to droop.

I caught her swaying body with one hand, ceasing to play just to place her down on the bed properly before picking up the tune again. My finger stroked her cheek before I realised it, but I let it linger for a while before I continued playing.

                  -------flashback end-------

Now that she was asleep, I remembered that I was still hungry. I sighed and turned, about to leave when I noticed something. Leaning down, I gently held her hand in mine and inspected her palm. I frowned.

This wasn't the hand of a minister's daughter... it was the hand of a servant.

You could tell it was soft, but blisters from repetitive tasks had caused the pads of her palm and fingers to turn tough and hard. There were several scars of old cuts and wounds on her fingers and palm. That's when I figured out why he wasn't so opposed to the whole agreement to give me his only daughter.

He didn't care.

However she was treated in that house, it wasn't good. I scoffed. Humans, always the same. I got up and left. Grabbing my black hat on the way, I darted out of there. I was still hungry after all.

                    ****hours later****

It was almost dawn and about the time Doyun was to come for his daughter. I made my way back but she was still in bed. I sighed, annoyed, but still stood staring at her.

She was actually very pretty, one couldn't argue about that. She looked nothing like her father and behaved nothing like him either... I hoped. She was probably a spitting image of her mother.

I tilted my head as her eyebrows furrowed slightly, then she muttered that under her breath.

"No... can't find... mm... help me... who..."
It was all gibberish, but whatever she was dreaming seemed serious. I was just about to go over and use compulsion when she suddenly smiled and said;

"Thank you...", then fell silent. She didn't speak again, just continued to sleep. I stepped back and chuckled, wondering what the dream was.

Not long after that, I heard the door open. I waited in the chamber and sure enough, Doyun came in.

"My lord", he bowed. I turned to the incompetence that was Han Doyun and smirked.

"Well good morning, minister. I have some orders for you so listen well", I said. He nodded, waiting.

"One, I like my food adequately rested. No bags under their eyes. I also have taste...in case you've forgotten. Two! I didn't know ministers' daughters also did laundry...?", I said, my voice lowering into a faint growl at the end.

He tensed up, "Um...my lord, I-"

"I don't want to hear it. Make sure she stops working. Just because her blood tastes good doesn't mean I won't hesitate to find out how yours tastes", I growled, "Don't mess up again."

He bowed again, but his hands were clenched firmly beside him. I stopped glaring when I heard a voice.

"What- Father? Oh." I turned to see her swiftly get out of bed and bow to the both of us. She turned to me and it seemed like she wanted to say something but couldn't figure out how to.

"Follow your father Eunhee. He'll tell you when you'll be brought again", I told her.

"Oh... yes, my lord", she said, then began to walk after her father who was already hurrying away. I strolled over to the gayageum case and lightly touched it.

The corners of my lips twitched.
