Guardians
~+Morning: Edd's house+~
"On today's news, we bring important information..."
The trio all sat at the living room eating their breakfast while watching the news.
Tord had come back last night to see Edd and Matt, his best friend obvious displaying the look of guilt while Matt obviously decided to play Mr. Intelligent for once.
He was kinda to spill what he wanted Matt to hear, the ginger allowing only what he wanted to share. Getting that he and Edd didn't have to act in front of Matt anymore have him the chance to not force Edd into their ridiculous plan.
"We advise the people of England to keep an out for this specific individual. As this person is the first prince of the throne to the country of Norway."
An image of a young teenager came up on the screen next to the newscaster. He looks very similar to Tord saved for the prince being younger.
"Whoa, Tord! You're on the tv!" Edd says surprises as he stops petting Ringo to point at the picture. "You never told us you were royalty."
"I come from a line of royalty actually." Tord huffs as he sets his cereal aside on the table. He crosses his arms over his chest. "Before my parents died and I was taken in by my adoptive family, I learned I had come from an old linage rooted from the royal family themselves in Norway."
"But I thought Norway doesn't do royalty like England?" Matt said kinda confused.
"We may not do rulings in my native country, but we still keep an old family linage who was royalty back in the old days. The people of Norway looked up to them with respect and seek guidance from them from time to time." He gets up from his seat to go put his dishes away.
Edd hums as he looks back at the lost prince of Norway's picture on screen.
"Then he would be a distant cousin."
"In a way yes," Tord answers from the kitchen. "But I would be the last one the royal family would consider as an heir to the throne if no family close to them has any children to inherit the throne. My bloodline to theirs is very ruined out already that we could consider ourselves non family."
Matt chews the last spoonful of his cereal and frowns. "You know the young prince of Norway looks family." He tries to think back to where he's seen that face before. Excluding Tord since all the explanation was said and done of the Norwegian's part.
He merely shrugs his shoulders honking its already a lost cause. So he pulls out his phone and snaps a picture of the news to send to Tom later.
"Might as well inform Tom. He doesn't watch the morning news after all."
Snap
"We ask you all for your cooperation, thank you."
~+Meanwhile+~
"Tomi, do you mind being left in charge while I'm out for work?" Tom asks after he finishes scarfing down his breakfast. He was in a hurry to get to work after waking up a little bit later than usual. He was up a little late last night trying to get the talkative kids to sleep. "If you can't I can drive you guys to someone who can watch you guys for a while."
Tika looks up from her cereal with a twinkle in her eye, "Are we going to drop us off to Storm?" Seth barking once beside her seat liking the idea too.
"I mean he did say he doesn't mind watching you while I'm at work. I'll just have to take him into watching Tomi too." He quickly gets up from his seat and dashes to the sink to give it a quick rinse, then leave to clean it properly later when he gets back. "You two better be finish eating breakfast by the time I get back down!" He exclaims as he runs out of he kitchen to get dressed in his room.
Tomi and Tika were already dressed thanks to Tom who had taken the time to get them all cleaned up and ready for the day. The kids look at each other and smile before putting their dishes away in the sink with Tom's.
Tomi walked to the doorway to pick up their shoes, setting his mother figure's shoes ready near the door for him to slip on. He comes back to Tika and Seth after putting on his baby blue and white sneakers Tom had bought for him yesterday on the way back to the apartment.
"Come on Tika, I'll help you out your shoes on." He says kneeling down in front of the arm chair in the living room. Tika comes to the living room followed by her animal companion after getting Tom's keys, wallet, and Police Badge. She takes a seat on the chair while Tomi unlaced the shoes.
Tika hums a song while Tomi puts her shoes on until he's done. When he is, he stands up and helps her onto her feat.
"Comfy?"
"Yes!" Tika says happily as she hold onto Tomi's hand. The teen notices her slight tug for him to bend down a bit for her. When he does, Tika places a soft kiss on his cheek. "Thank you."
Tomi feels lighter at her thankful kiss on his cheek. "You're welcome, Tikky." He kisses her back on the forehead and she giggles in response.
Tom comes back racing down the stares. He stops and pats his body trying to remember if he has all his stuff. "Wallet? Keys? Badge?"
"Here!" Tika says holding out his stuff.
Tom smiles and accepts them from her before patting her on the head. "Thank you. Alright, now let's move along."
"Are we taking Seth with us?" Tika asks.
The older brunet hums and pats Seth on the head. "Maybe not today Tika, I thinks it's best we leave him at home today. This way he can explore his new surroundings."
"Alright," Tika says looking at her friend. She hugs Seth tightly for a moment before letting him go to pet him on the head. "Protect the house while we're gone. Okay?"
Seth barks in confirmations and sits down waiting for his mistress, her friend, and guardian leave before roaming his new surroundings.
Tika and Tomi follow behind their fast guardian to the front door where he slips on his black shoes for work. And then they're out the door and down the elevator in a few minutes.
Tom herds hen out of the building and into his police car. "Seatbelts, or this car is not moving."
Tomi puts his seatbelt on first before helloing Tika with her own. "Ready!"
Tom smiles from what the kids see in the rearview mirror. He starts the car up and drives towards he bridge he and Tika went to yesterday with Tord.
"Make sure to remember the route to the bridge you two. If you don't feel like staying inside the apartment while I'm gone, you two might as well go see Storm. Am I clear?"
"Yes." The two kids say from the back seat.
He car ride filled with the sound of radio music and Tom's humming. Tika and Tomi sometimes exchanging a few words before being distracted by the view outside the window.
Tom pulls up to the side of the bridge, parking the car and unlocking the doors. The three of them get out of the car, sliding down the slope of he hill with the officer's careful guidance.
"Okay, I guess I can leave you guys here." Tom says checking his watch for he time. He's already cutting it close to clocking in. "Tika, you can lead the rest of the way?"
He girl nods and gives him a thumbs up. "I can do that! It's still fresh in my mind."
"Alright then," He says with a confident smile. Tom looks to Tomi and pats him on the head, "Watch out for Tika and yourself as well. If anything happens, make sure to contact me asap. Understood?"
"Yes, Tom." Tomi says smiling wide for his parental figure. "I'll make sure to keep a close eye on Tika, promise."
Tom nods, then kissing them both on the forehead before leaving them. He runs up the hill towards the car as Tomi and Tika wave goodbye until he leaves.
Tika holds onto Tomi's hand to start leading him into the Little Devil's Base.
~+Police Station+~
Reggie has been counting down the time until Tom came skidding to a stop inside the team office. Not to mention, clocking in just a minute before he came was considered late.
"Nice job Blue! Another successful entrance!" Max cheers from his seat having watch it all go down like a few other officers in the room who have early morning attendance like Tom.
"Yeah, yeah," Tom chuckles as he heads over to his desk up on the other end of the room where all his team officers can see him. "Let's get back on task, we don't want another typo report. Remember last time when Jay sent me back Kate's report."
The officers in the room laugh remembering how the report came out very off topic about a murder case. Instead of being written that the victim was stabbed to death, it was more like the victims was laughed and wetted himself to death. There were a few other typos in the report, but it's best not to mention them.
It wasn't even a minute yet when Tom sat in his seat that he had to get back up seeing Jay walking up to his desk. "Jay, it's really early. Unless you've got-"
"Coffee and blueberry scones," Jay cuts him off showing him a cup of coffee and a bagged up scones in the other hand. "Don't worry Tom, I got you remember. We're old partners so it's practically basic knowledge by now." He reminds with a soft expression as he sets them on the desk.
Tom thanks him, "Thanks Jay. You're too sweet as always."
"Anything for you," He then proceeded to pull out a small batch of thornless roses. "Another present."
Tom accepts them thoughtfully and places them in the empty vase at the corner of his desk. His former police partner being a real gentleman as usual. So he thinks he could reward the man caramel haired officer with something.
"Hey Jay, mind bending down a bit. I gotta tell you something."
The Head Captain of the station leans down a bit only to be surpassed with a light kiss on his cheek. Jay straightens up with slowly starts looking red.
"Blue, that the Boss Captain you just kissed. You gotta remember we need him functioning." Fred says jokingly with a laugh. Seeing their Boss Man malfunctioning had to be the Blue Department's best highlight of the day so far and it wasn't even the afternoon yet.
"And can you tone down the PDA, Blue! Some of us can't take your sweetening sweetness!" Reggie adds cheerfully from his spot.
Tom looks at his officers with a familiar expression they're all aware off when someone starts playing some romantic music from their computer. His children, the officers under his command, all cut the music abruptly and turn back to their work. Let it be known not to mess with their captain when he's still not fully awake, even if he's a morning person.
"So what else brings you here Jay? I don't assume it's only for the dropping off some coffee, scones, and some flowers."
Jayden shakes his head, "Ah, yes. Zack gave me the clear report about your cousin who was part of the Traveling Auction Case. First of all, I'm glad you two got reunited after those years. How is he?"
Tom nods, "Thank you, he's doing well and is getting along swimmingly with Tika."
"No problem, and the second thing I wanted to address is about Tika."
Tom tilts his head a bit as he crosses his arms. "Something about Tika?"
"Yes," Jay comes around to Tom's desk. "Mind if I use your computer?"
"Yeah, let me just unlock it." Tom bends over, quickly typing in the user and password. The lock opens up to Tom's screensaver which is Tom and his old friends at a carnival.
Jayden pulls up the browser and a news article relating to the missing Norwegian prince case. "The foreign prince? What's this got to do with Tika?"
"Apparently, child services looked into her background more thoroughly on her mother and father's side. Her crazy uncle was on her father's side, but her mother's side is interesting because she is the second and only female child of the Thorne Family in Norway." He clicks a few links and gets a family picture pulled up of the last royal family before the current one.
A man and woman side by side arm and arm with amused smiles. In front of them is their son, captioned as the heir and first prince in line for the throne after his father. Next to their son is a young female who looks similar to Tika dressed beautifully in a violet gown and dawned on the finest jewelry, captioned as first princess.
"Tika's mother, Nora K. Thorne, is the daughter of the esteem late royal family. Her brother, who is King at the moment, has their first and only son missing. Recently the higher ups sent a message to them about their niece who had lost her parents and uncle who is standing for trail." He then turns his head to look at Tom. "They might ask for her to come to Norway in order to take her cousin's place if they can't find him before his inheritance. Even if they do find him, they might offer to bring her into their family."
Jayden had heard for a source that Tika's mother had a close relationship to her brother. So it's highly his family will take the girl into custody as his own daughter.
"But she's only ten years old, Jay. They're asking for too much if they want this child to take their son's place." Tom voices his concern as her looks down at another photo Jayden pulls up. The current Royal Family of Norway, Mathias K. Thorne and his wife, Eleanor Heart.
The only problem with this photo is that this is their first photo together before they had their son. Tom had never seen a picture of him currently, but he knew the prince's name.
'Storm Thorne'
A simple yet proper name for the prince.
When he thinks about it, his Storm often told him to refer to him as Torm instead, saying he liked it more than the one with the added letter S. He guess it has to do with being commonly named after the Norwegian prince.
"I'm sure they'd wait until she turns of age which is eighteen for girls. For boys the coming of age for inheritance is twenty or twenty one depending on their father's choice." Jayden tells his friend while rubbing at his chin. He looks back at the screen and closes the tabs to clear the area.
The blue officer sighs and shakes his head. "Then I guess I'll have to talk to Tika later so she knows what's going on. I don't want to leave her in the dark about these kinds of things for too long."
"Good point," The Boss says placing his hands on his hip. "Well that's all for me. I should get back to my office to finish the rest of the closed case reports I recently got back from your team. Your department does a great job Tom, you should be proud of them."
"Oh Jay," Tom says with a laugh, "I'm always proud of them."
Today, he just feels a bit lighter without a tickle in his throat to distract him.
~Back to the Little Devil's Base~
When Tika brought Tomi inside the base, the first to meet them was the little girl who she first met upon coming here.
The blond child, Mary, and her guardian who introduced herself as Alexa, lead she and Tomi on the other side of the bridge.
Tika smiles when she sees Storm relaxing with the pack of wolf dogs lying or playing about near the calm stream. "Storm!"
The masked leader looks up from the wolf pup at his side to see the small group heading towards him. He gives the pup on last pet before standing up onto his feat. Then giving a wave to Alexa and Mary so they can leave them alone.
"Good morning, princess." He says approaching them. The girl gives him a hug which he return carefully in their audience's word choice. Storm wasn't really the one for hugs after all. "Tom dropped you off?"
"Yeah, he brought Tomi along too." She tells the other cheerfully.
"Who?"
"That would be me."
Storm looks up from Tika to meet similar black eyes to that off his favored officer. Standing there similar to that of Officer Tom.
Tomi notices his gaze and blushes with embarrassment now having to introduce himself. "I'm Thomas Towell, or Thompson after my cousin took me in. But please call me Tomi, I prefer it over my full name."
The young leader places his hand over his chest, "Storm, but you can call me Torm. I'm the leader here." He can't help but not take his eyes off of Tomi, he doesn't know why. While he does this he also give him a curt bow out of habit.
"So what brings you here with Tika?" Torm asks the two as he lets go of Tika. The girl goes back to stand in front of Tomi happily.
"Tom has work today and he didn't want up held up in his apartment while he's gone. So he thought we could stay with you until he comes to pick us up." Tomi tells him truthfully as he rests his hands on Tika's shoulders.
Torm snaps his fingers, "Well this works very well then, Tika can meet her guardian today." He comes closer to them, mostly standing by Tom's side. "Follow me."
"So what entails as a guardian?" Tomi asks walking next to the devilish leader.
Torm looks at Tomi for a second before averting his gaze. "Guardians here mean protectors to the younger kids. Teens ranging from the age of fourteen to nineteen are considered able to act a protector if they want to be involved with taking care of a kid who comes wandering her just to play or hangout."
"How about thirteen year olds, aren't they considered teens?" Tika asks trailing in front of Tomi and Torm happily.
Torm hums, "I consider it a coming of age here but we don't want them as protectors since they'd take their first step into teenhood. I usually want them to sort themselves out before deciding wether they'd like to take care of someone younger than them to feel responsible."
"Ah, I get it." Tomi says snapping his fingers. "That's really mature of you, Torm."
A faint blush rises on his cheeks this time once he looks at Tomi again.
Tomi and Tika follow Torm back to the under shade of the bridge where a couple of fire pits were still active. The Little Devil navigates them through the groups with a couple hellos here and there.
They come to a group of three settled around the warmth of a campfire surrounded by rocks.
"Oh it's Torm!" A teenager with brown hair about the same height as Torm greets them as the three met them. "What brings you here?" The exchange handshake formally unlike boyish ones Tika has seen from her past schoolmates.
"You actually. Do you remember earlier this morning about what I told you?"
"Of course, the charge you assigned me too." Bryon then looks a little behind his leader to see the other teen and a young girl beside him looking at him curiously. "I'm guessing this is the little lady you told me about."
Torm looks back over his shoulder and gestures to Tika to come over followed by Tomi. "This is Tika, she lives with Officer Tom. Behind her is the officer's little cousin, Tomi." He introduces the two to his trusted friend.
"Nice to me you both! I'm Bryon Grams." He greets the two openly with a cheerful expression. "I actually happen to live near Officer Thompson apartment complex just down the street in a white house with a gray roof."
"Oh, I remember seeing it on the way here." Tika comments having watched the houses pass from her window view in Tom's car.
Bryon chuckles, "Yes, my house is rather close to his apartment. My grandfather and him are friends actually so you may see us from time to time if he visits for business."
"What does your grandfather do?" Tomi asks curiously.
"He's a retired soldier from the army, but he works in a higher up office connected to Officer Thompson's police station. So basically still working within the law." He shakes his head and cross his arms as he looks at Torm. "My grandfather also talks to Officer Thompson because of how I keep associating with Torm here."
"Not a fan, but I don't mind." Torm says rolling his eyes to show his displeasure. He and Bryon's grandfather never really see eye to eye. There was this one time where Bryon had to hold his grandfather back and Tom had to keep him from attacking the old guy. "He just needs to stay off my case."
Bryon laughs this time and pats his friend on the the back. "As long as I keep coming here and talking to you, I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon." He looks back to Tika and offers her his hand, "Let me introduce you to my group."
Tika looks at Tomi for permission and he responds with a smile to usher her to go. She places her hand in his and the brunet leads her to his group of friends to introduce and get to know, this leaving Tomi with Torm.
"So," Torm said trailing his eyes off of Bryon's and Tika's back to look at Tomi. "Would you be interested in telling me your story?"
Tomi looks back at Torm who shows a small hint of nervousness in his tone and posture. He chuckles, nodding to the leader his mother figure has been watching over.
"Sure Tormy."
His closed eyes smile making him miss the darker blush of the Little Devil.
XxxX
Hope you guys another chapter!!!
Notes:
Torm is seventeen
Tomi is fifteen
Tika is ten
Bryon is sixteen
It's undetermined if Tika and Bryon will be a pair in this story. If they were to be, Bryon would patiently wait until Tika is of right age and ask her permission if they could date. ^^
And I wanna make it clear that Tomi will not be related to Torm or Tika. Tomi is strictly related to Tom while you can assume Tika and Torm's connect to Tord from this chapter.
And what ever thwart you had, I'm flipping this story in a totally unpredictable direction ^^
Good Luck,
-BlueCipher0
