3. An Unwanted Bind
There I was— back here again.
It was the ring. Throughout the party, I couldn't even focus on Jaegyu because the ring was plastered—literally, on my finger. And it was the ring finger; I didn't want to be questioned by my friends whether I'm married at 18 or not. Whatever happened, I was back here to fix it.
"Baby," Jungkook's voice resonated in my mind. "Trust me, you'll come back again."
How did he.....know? I had one theory— that he knew about the ring in the first place. Even if he didn't, I have much to complain.
"Welcome." an unfamiliar face greets me with a sweet smile. "What do you need?"
Holy shoot. Am I in Gorgeous Town? Literally everyone who works here is expectantly stunning. The stranger must've guessed what why I was staring so particularly at him, and his lips turned up again confidently. "Well," he says, checking his reflection on the pink hand-mirror placed conveniently on the counter. "I am pretty eye-catching."
"You mean eye-cancerous." Yoongi passes by with heavy lidded eyes.
With that, a one-sided bicker ensues as Jimin pops up on his tippy toes, over a shelf. "Yena!" His eyes crinkled cutely. "You're here!"
I drowned out the bickering noise of the pink mirror narcissist and headed towards Jimin, who was holding a console in his hand. On the screen— several tiny creatures wandered around in a shabby, wooden kennel. "I'm trying to mate them," he points at the two wolf hybrids. "But they don't want to."
"Well, if I were to mate, I'd want a big fluffy bed instead of the floor." I gave my opinion. Jimin's eyes sparked in realisation. He fumbles with his tiny fingers, pressing the buttons expertly.
As I watched him play, I was strangely oblivious to my surroundings— and did not hear someone coming up the stairs. When I finally realised, Jungkook was already leaning against the door frame, eyes gazing on me. He adorned a white shirt that was a tight contrast to the ink on his skin, and almost made him seem unreal. Beautifully unreal. His brown locks laid gently down his forehead, framing his god-given features, resembling a painting.
Then he spoke, which broke me out of trance. "They didn't want to mate because the female isn't in heat."
"Then what will the male do?" I asked.
"Make her." Jungkook replies as his eyes pierced through me. "Make her feel in heat. At least that's what I would do."
Somehow, the bottom of my feet tingled at his statement; as if it was warning me to run. As if I was facing a predator. Jungkook's stare on me was so deep, it felt as if he was talking to me. I gulped.
"That's right, what brings you back here?" Jimin leans an arm across my shoulder. Oh right, I forgot.
"The ring." I showed them my fingers. "It's stuck. Can you help me?"
"Oh?" Jimin's eyes lit up. "Can't help you, sorry baby."
"Then what am I supposed to do?!" I raised my voice in desperation.
"Well," Jungkook tilts his head in amusement. "You'll just have to be mine. Simple."
Mine? Did he just say to be mine? "You're crazy." I replied, a shudder in my voice. "Don't you have anything to take it off?"
"You can't take it off. Since the ring accepted you, you're bind to me, and only me." Jungkook explains nonchalantly, leaning back onto the wall. His gaze was still on me, eyeing my every move.
"I don't get it. Bind to you?" I was getting desperate.
"The ring, it may be hard to believe right now, but is a spiritual bind. To whom it chooses, they are meant to be their partner. Cliché, but true." The pink mirror stranger clarified. "I guess Jungkook finally found you."
"No. I don't believe this.....there's no way..." I deny.
"The ring cannot be taken off. The proof is in front of you." He glances at the ring, before placing his sight back on to me.
"Then.....then what do I have to do to unbind myself?..."
"You can't. Wearing it means pleading absolute faith on Jungkook." Jimin explains.
"Now that she understands, leave me and my girlfriend alone, you imbeciles." Jungkook slides a hand onto mine, pulling me closer to his chest— much to my astonishment. The rest exchanged looks and slowly made their way into the basement, hands in their pockets.
"I'm not your girlfriend— and neither am I taking this bullshit." I tried to pry away from his grasps, but to no avail. As the light hits his face, the piercing gaze was still on me; the darks of his eyes contrasting against the hues of his light brown irises, sending me to a trance-like state. His eyes. God— it was all so beautiful... otherworldly, even. His moment of sudden beauty rendered me speechless.
He then turns to me. "Yena...Kiss me."
"W-what?" I stuttered. Did I hear that wrong? Did he say to....kiss him?
"You have to kiss me." He wraps an arm around my torso, inching closer to my face. "If anyone else takes your first kiss before I do, a curse will be put on us."
"No." I pushed against his chest firmly. "Besides, I had my first kiss already."
"You haven't." His lips curved up into a smirk. "You know you didn't."
"B-but—" I hesitate. "I can't just kiss someone I just met."
Jungkook tilts his head yet again, eyes evident on me. He studies my expression, before gently letting go. "If you're scared, we can do it another time."
Another time? That means I have to not kiss anyone during that time period— that sounds possible, but the risks sound unexpectedly scary. And what if I had the chance with Jaegyu? Maybe I'll peck Jungkook on the lips for a bit, and call it a day.....
"Fine." I closed my eyes. Oh god, what am I doing?
I waited a few moments before a soft sensation landed on my lips— and every single one of my senses tingled; as if they were screaming for more. His lips morph deeply onto mine, brushing against it ever so slightly, before pressing it passionately against me again. It was a combination of hot and cold, and pleasure begins to overtake my every nerve. It just felt so....right. Like every puzzle falling together, like the deadly sweetness of bitter caffeine. It was so perfect that I fell into its trance—unable to recover.
When we parted, I felt my heart racing— and I knew, that very moment.
I knew.
That I was doomed.
