HAPPINESS

Third Person

They walked together, through the corridors of the building. Their hands kissing each other in some sort, but hesitating to hold.

She felt a rush of air go through her and butterflies in her stomach, her cheeks turned hot and her body melted. She was starting to admire his little actions and the caring fashion he carried with him. She didn't know if he only was like that to her, or to everyone. Just like how he was curious to know her story, she was curious to know his part of the world.

They walked a little more, not knowing where they were going. Between crowds, brushing shoulders with others, but still together by some magnetic energy.

A random person accidentally pushed her while he paced around, but she got her grip on 'him'. Then eventually, they held hands, a little too firmly. A little eye game happened when they again searched for the oblivious secret beneath those twinkling eyes. He knew a lot, but he wanted to know more. He wanted to dive in the ocean that she was and not just take a swim in it. He wanted to explore and familiarize himself with every nook and corner of her. He wanted to submerge in her.

She, was confused and uncomfortable. It was the last thing she wanted to happen, love again was not possible for her. Her faith in the quality of love was dying. And perhaps, no one falls in love in just a few days, that only happens in books and movies. But what if life really was a book? Where everything seems like a new fantasy and where everything happens for a reason.

She realized the current location they were in, the beach. He brought her here on purpose.
An amused look shot on her confused face. She looked at the sun rising, slowly and slowly, bringing itself to life. Roosters kukkudoo-ing, alarms ringing, couples kissing, kids playing, train engines hooting. The hustle started. But, it was different. There was a different aroma in the race of life today. There was peace in it. A calming, soothing peace.
How is that ridiculously possible? Such noise, such chaos, but silence within it?

Well it is. Have you ever listened to the waves hitting the shore? Or crickets crinkling a quiet but somewhat pleasant sound? How about when the wind blows in the sky, just like how children blow bubbles with a wand? Ever heard these sound which start to sound like music which never wants to leave your head? Like a favorite song which can never get out of your mind.

This is when, you start being grateful, and start realizing the importance and value of life and people around you, and not just that but the whole entire universe you have.

They took a seat on the soft and grainy sand and let nature engulf them with it's outmost beauty. Even the ugliest place looks pretty when you realize its value.

"Your words are starting to influence me Rish, this feels amazing. I feel like the wind, flying freely, nonstop." She expressed, something which didn't come from her a lot.
"Sharing does help. You know the ball of fire in your heart completely cools down when you let it out. But you need an understanding person to let things out to, and it that case, Rish Thapar at your service ma'am." He grinned.
"But what next?" She was ready to drive through this journey. Because she somehow knew that the destination was going to be worth it. Worth the pain. Worth the sacrifices. It will only be happy.

Not her words though, Rish's.

"You know why people believe in God?" He asked.
"No, I myself wonder sometimes. It's just some superstition nonsense that people give life to."
"Well, it's actually kind of true. Belief in god is a real thing and it works."
"Prove it."
"It's all in the mind Maan. You believe something and think of the results and it actually turns out to be like that."
"What are you trying to say?"
"For example, praying to god for something good to happen, you trust in him so much that it actually turns out to happen by the positive energy you carry in your mind."
He explained.
"So you mean whatever I think of will come true?"
"No. Whatever you believe in, will come true." He smiles, correcting her.
"Do you know the Ramayan?"
"Yeah."
"Ram went on an exile for 14 years, and he made through it without any sadness or pain, you know how? Positive thinking and the belief in himself."
"How about the part when his wife gets kidnapped?" Her curiosity increasing.
"Of course obstacles are there, but it only proves that you can come over it if you try hard enough and actually know you will be able to do it." He smiled again.
"You have an answer for everything, don't you?" She raised a brow.
"Not really."
"No seriously, what don't you know?"
"I don't know a lot of stuff, like..."
"Like?" She almost chuckled.
"The reason why you don't smile and laugh as much as I do, even if we have gone through almost the same level of difficulties in life." He took the chance to know her better.
"It's because you are strong, amazing and just so jolly. I'm still learning. Have a lot to learn still." She moved her eyes downward, again fiddling with her hoodie.
"Okay student, pehla homework!" He ordered in a strict tone.
"What? Are you serious?"
"Yes. Your first homework is to find your happiness. Where does it exist, where can you find this smile of yours." Which I'm guessing is really precious, specially for me.
He kept the last part to himself and smiled inwardly.
"And homework submission date?" The interest in the conversation had gone away from her side.
"Ummm........ I'll wait till........ "

He took a few seconds to think.

"Forever. Whenever you want to." He smiled, once again.

"Don't your cheeks hurt?" She rested her head on his shoulder, she didn't even realize this action of hers. But somewhere she knew that it gives her comfort and safety, and maybe even the happiness she was looking for.

Maybe.
