Trumpkin the Dwarf

The eight friends grabbed their weapons and their crossbags and headed out the  chamber, following Esther. Dawn swiped the dust off her mustard dress while walking out of the ruins with them. She then catches up with Peter. Peter smiled at her. "Lovely as always." He complimented.

Dawn blushed a little. "Thanks." She smiled. "Looking handsome as always too." Peter smiled. Esther made a noise. "Will you two love birds hurry up?!" She yelled out.

"Alright, alright!" Dawn grouched. "Sheesh!" They then rushed after Esther and Daniel, who was busy being chatterbox with her. Peter sighed. "Why is she so mad?" He whispered.

"I have no idea." Dawn shrugged her shoulders. Jane gave her sister and the Pevensie children rather disappointed look. "I thought you said she was nice!" She scolded. Lucy bit her lip. "She was....I don't know what happened....."

Jane sighed and turned to see her brother and Esther laughing and flirting with each other, much to her confusion and Edmund's dismay. Edmund grumbled. "She was the sweetest girl I knew, but....nevermind."

"Maybe Daniel just wants to get to know her too, Ed." Susan told her brother. "Don't take it too personally."

Meters away from Dawn, Jane and the Pevensies, Esther laughed softly. "Really, Daniel, You saw Dawn singing in front of her mirror?" She asked him.

"Yeah." Daniel answered. "Sometimes I take longer during my bathroom breaks." Esther smiled. "Bathroom breaks?" Daniel nodded. The girls heard it. "Eeeww, Danny!" They screeched. "Not in front the Queen!"

Esther laughed. "Oh ignore them, go on."

"Okay. So, where exactly is this place, Esther?" Daniel asked.

"We just have to keep-" She was cut off, by some voices near the river. "Hey, look!" Lucy called out. "There's a boat!" Jane gasped. "We have to help them!" The eight friends raced down the mountain edge and to the nearby shores of the river where the boat was located.

"Drop him!" Susan called out. Jane also drew her bow at the two men who were holding a bound and gagged dwarf over the water. Listening to her command, the two armored men launched the dwarf into the water. Susan fired an arrow to one man's chest sending another one as a warning into the side of the boat. Jane also shot an arrow but it splashed into the river and the remaining soldier yelled and jumped into the water.

Edmund and Daniel left their swords on the shore as they and Peter dove into the water. Jane daringly swam into the river to retrieve her arrow despite in a dress. Dawn stood on the shore with Esther and the Pevensie sisters, watching worriedly as Edmund and Daniel dragged the boat to shore, Peter rescuing a drowning dwarf and Jane retrieving her arrow that she released.

Peter set the struggling dwarf on the rocks. Lucy fell to her knees and drew her dagger, cutting the ropes off of his hands and feet. The dwarf ripped the cloth from his mouth, coughing up water. "Drop him?!" He said angrily. "Is that the best you can come up with?!"

Susan looked at the dwarf in disbelief and exchanged incredulous look with her siblings and friends. Esther rolled her eyes. "Oh please, you ungrateful littl-" but Susan cut her off. "A simple thank you would have suffice!" She replied.

The dwarf pulled the cloth off his neck. "They were doing fine drowning me without you help." He said.

"Maybe we should have let them." Peter replied. Dawn nudged her boyfriend with her elbow. "Peter!" She reprimanded. "Don't say that!"

"Sorry." Peter said. Dawn looked at the dwarf with a sympathetic look. "Why were they trying to kill you anyway?" She asked. Before the dwarf could answer, they heard Jane's scream for help. She was drowning in the river while retrieving her arrow, due to the weight of her dress.

"Help! Help!" She cried out. "Help me!" Dawn gasped at the scene. "Jane!" She cried out. "Somebody do something!"

Esther groaned. "Do I always have to do everything for you?" She spat. "Come on, Daniel. Let's go save your sister!" Daniel and Esther ran to the water until it reached their knees. Esther turned herself into a mermaid and Daniel dove into the water to rescue Jane. They both caught her and swam up to the surface and dragged her to the shore all soaked. And Esther turned back into her human self. The dwarf and the others rushed in to help Jane up to her feet. Jane freed herself from the dwarf's grip.

"I have a boyfriend." She warned him.

Esther laughed and snorted. "Wow, he's older than that rock and you just said that." She started to laugh hard. The others also joined laughing, except the dwarf.

"Alright, alright!" The dwarf stopped them. "I get you, okay?" The eight friends had stopped laughing and went back to the conversation. "So, why were they trying to kill you?" Dawn asked again.

"They're Telmarines." The dwarf answered. "That's what they do."

Edmund shared a puzzled look with his brother and the others. "Telmarines in Narnia?" He asked. Esther snorted and walked away. Lucy turned to Esther with a desperate and concerned look. The dwarf looked up at the children. "Where have you been in the last few hundred years?" He asked, and then pointed at Jane and Daniel. "Who are these two? Some kind of wanderers?"

"No." Dawn answered. "They're my siblings. Jane and Daniel." The dwarf nodded. "Hmm, didn't really expect to see some new faces here." He said.

"It's bit of a long story." Lucy also answered the dwarf's question.

The six friends nodded, except for Esther. Susan returned Peter his sword Dawn watched as the dwarf looked at them from head to toe. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me." He said. "You're it? You're the Kings and Queens of Old?"

Jane smiled at Dawn as she remembered her story of Narnia which she told her. Daniel's mouth fell open. "You six are what?" He gasped. "All this time my sister is a Queen of this land?!" He fell onto the sandy beach with a faint.

The children laughed awkwardly. "Well, that was an overreaction." Jane scoffed as she and Esther helped Daniel up. He swiped off the remaining sand off his tunic and trousers. "How could my sister never told me this?" He groaned.

"Because I was worried you won't believe me." Dawn replied.

Daniel looked around at his sister and his friends. "What can I do so I can also be king?" He asked. Esther smiled. "If my father thinks you are worthy." She replied. Daniel tilted his head with curiosity, wondering who Esther's father is, but decided to ask later.

"I hope so too." Was all he could say.

Peter reaches his hand out to the dwarf and held his chin high. "High King Peter, the Magnificent." He introduced himself. Susan grinned. "You probably could've left that out last bit." She scoffed a bit, and even earning a laugh from the dwarf. "Probably." He responded.

Peter slightly smirked and drew his sword. "You might be surprised." He said bravely.

The dwarf shook his head. "Oh, you don't want to do that, boy." He said nervously.

"Not me." Peter said, turning his gaze to Edmund. "Him." He gestured to his brother. Edmund looked a little surprised and smiled. He drew his sword and Peter lended the dwarf his. They both began to sword fight. Using Peter's sword, the dwarf hit Edmund's blade with it and swung the sword across him, which he dodged. The dwarf then knocked Edmund's face with his hand.

"Edmund!" Lucy cried.

"Oh, are you alright?" The dwarf teased.

Edmund shook his head and started swinging at the dwarf. They both circled until he went behind the dwarf, and Edmund lightly swat the dwarf behind him. Daniel and Lucy laughed a little. The dwarf swung the sword at Edmund more And everytime he dodged the swings. It didn't take long for the King to disarm the dwarf and hold his sword over him.

"Beards and bedsteads!" The dwarf gasped, falling on his knees. "Maybe that horn worked after all."

Susan tilted her head confused. "What horn?" She asked. Edmund lowered his sword and helped the dwarf up. The dwarf began to explain to the eight friends. Susan's horn had been found and being used by Caspian, a young Telmarine Prince, calling the five friends here in Narnia during his escape from his cruel and vicious uncle. The dwarf introduced himself Trumpkin and decided to lead them to the boat so that he could bring them to other Narnians.
