High King's Stubborness
Later, the eight friends and Caspian gathered all the other Narnian leaders and animals in the Stone Table area for a meeting. And it was an important and serious topic, with Peter and Caspian standing in the middle. Dawn stood by with Jane and Susan near the Stone Table while Lucy sat upon the table listening with a little distasteful frown. Edmund stood by with his friend Daniel and Esther stood meters away from them. Dawn looked at Peter and Caspian with a concerning look as she listened to what they were saying.
"It's only a matter of time. Miraz's men and war machines are on their way." Peter was explaining while facing each of the Narnians present. "That means those same men are not protecting his castle." Daniel gulped. "What do you propose we do, sire?" Reepicheep asked.
"We—"
"Our—" Peter and Caspian stopped and looked at each other confused. Everyone looked on nervously, narrowing their eyes and held their breaths. Caspian rolled his eyes and stepped back. Peter then turned his attention back to everyone.
"Our only hope is to strike them before they strike us." He said.
Caspian stepped forward again. "But that's crazy!" He argued. "No one has ever taken that castle."
"Maybe because no one has tried." Esther said. Caspian looked at Esther and nodded as if he agreed. Esther smiled at the Prince a bit.
"There's a first time for everything." Peter shrugged. Dawn was feeling somewhat hesitant and unsure about that idea. She bit her nails out of anxiety. Jane shared an expression with Susan. Susan sighed.
Trumpkin stepped up. "We'll have the element of surprise!" He said bravely as he wants to support the high king. Esther nodded. "And a secret weapon." She added.
"But we have the advantage here!" Caspian argued. Just then, Susan stepped forward towards the Prince.
"If we dig in, we could probably hold them off indefinitely." She added, placing her hand around his shoulder. Peter and Esther was taken a back by what his sister just said, but he didn't say anything.
Esther snorted. "Sure...and get caught." She said.
"Just like my dad busted my sister for hanging with you guys." Daniel added. Esther laughed and then hid it with a cough. Dawn blushed with embarrassment by her brother's comment. Peter shot Daniel a dirty look for daring to mention that in front of everyone. Daniel laughed.
"Ahem!" Jane warned her brother and he stopped laughing.
"I, for one, feel safer underground." Trufflehunter spoke up to Peter. Out of discourage, he and turned to Caspian. "Look, I appreciate what you've done, but this isn't a fortress." He told him. "It's a tomb."
"And if the Telmarines are smart, they'll starve us out!" Edmund added. Esther was stung by what her boyfriend just said. She backed herself a few meters away from the crowd.
"We could collect nuts!" A squirrel, who's name was Pattertwig called out.
"And throw them at the Telmarines!" Reepicheep sarcastically added, but then he froze. "Oh shut up!" He shouted at Pattertwig. Daniel and Esther giggled a little at what he and the squirrel just suggested.
Reepicheep turned to Peter. "I think you know where I stand on this, Sire." He said. Peter gave the mouse a nod. Jane looked nervous at her friend. "Peter, what is he talking about?" She asked.
Dawn raised an eyebrow at her boyfriend. "Peter, are you that serious you're doing the right thing?" She asked. "Caspian's the only one who knows how power hungry Miraz is and how many army he has. The Prince doesn't think it's a great idea to start this plan. His uncle's men is apparently outnumbered than ours."
"We can do a raid." Peter suggested, raising his voice. "We would be able to take control of the castle if we attack at night. Those Telmarines aren't such a big deal. I can do it! We all can do it!" Esther nodded in agreement, but had a little knowledge that something could be off with that plan.
Peter turned to the Centaur, by the name of Glenstorm. "If I can get your troops in, can you handle the guards?" He asked him. Dawn was a little shaken by it.
"Or die trying, my liege." Glenstorm replied. Dawn sighed sadly.
"I don't know if that's a great idea, Pete." Jane hesitated. "You don't even know a hundred percent! Those men could be much stronger than us much stronger!"
Jane's words gave Lucy's attention. Lucy shifted on the table. "I agree with Jane." She spoke. "That's what I'm worried about."
"Sorry?" Peter turned to his sister with an expression of disbelief.
"Well, you're all acting like there are only two options. Dying here, or dying there." Lucy explained to him.
"I'm not sure you've been listening, Lu." Peter said.
"Well you're not listening." Lucy talked back to her brother. "Or have you forgotten who really defeated the White Witch, Peter?"
Peter's expression on his face changed from disbelief to emotionless. "I think we've waited for Aslan long enough." He said coldly. And with that, he turned back to the group. Dawn sighed and gave Lucy an apologetic look. Lucy just gave her friend a nod although she did not agree with her brother's plan.
"So, who's with me?" Peter announced to the room. Caspian, Dawn, Susan, Edmund, Esther and whoever Narnians that raised their hands, decided to join Peter to the raid.
"Uhh..I don't have that much experience in combat." Daniel said.
"Me neither." Jane hesitated. "I don't really do fights."
Esther had an idea for the brother and sister. "Jane, you can stay and make sure Lucy's fine." She said. "Daniel, you can come with us." Daniel's face lit up. "Okay, cool!" He said. "I've got experience in sports so I think I can get the hang of it." But Daniel froze for a moment. "I should've brought my soccer ball here." He groaned.
"I can make one for you, Dan." Esther suggested with a smile. The Queen used her powers to make a ball for Daniel. And an icy blue ball appeared and landed between them. "Wow!" Daniel breathed. "This looks even better than my very own soccer ball. Is this one unbreakable?" He asked. "Or is it a magical one of it?"
"Unbreakable." Esther smiled.
"Ooooh~!" Everyone said in awe unison. "So I'm guessing it can be magical then." Daniel winked at Esther, causing her to blush rosy pink. Esther smiled at Daniel, Jane and Lucy and all the Narnians, but glanced at Dawn and her human friends and walked off. Edmund looked at Esther very concerned, still thinking of what he could do to get back together with his girlfriend.
The others decided to finish off the meeting. Dawn paced beside Peter. "Are you sure this is good idea?" She asked her boyfriend. "Caspian said no one's ever taken over that castle before."
Peter nodded. "Of course I'm sure!" He replied. "I'm sure the raid could drive the Telmarines away." Dawn sighed. "But you don't know that, Pete." She said. "Telmarines are seemingly unpredictable. What if they overpower us?"
"Then we'll find a way to stop them." Peter shrugged.
"Well, I may agree with what your sister said, but I'm only joining you to the raid because...I'm worried something could happen to you." Dawn confessed. "We just have to see how it turns out then."
Peter nodded. "Fair enough." He agreed. But little did everyone knew, was what Esther knows how their plan will result in.
