Your Eyes Got Me Dreamin'

Stevie swishes around the upstairs of her house singing Ebony Eyes quite loudly. She was in an amazing mood and Lindsey smiled as he watched her twirling around.

"Song stuck in your head?" He asked.

"Since Cal Jam! That was so much fun!"

"You looked great up there, baby"

"Thank you!"

"Let's play the song. Maybe that will help"

"Give it a shot" she says. He goes downstairs to find French Kiss in the stack and puts it on the turn table. Their record collection had grown to an overwhelming size since their own respective stashes had been combined.

Well have you seen that girl in the corner
I'd like to take her out of her chains
'Cause if I have my way with you baby I would be changing your life today

Stevie began to sing, dancing around the living room with Lindsey, both of them smiling so much.

Your eyes got me dreamin
Your eyes got me blind
Your eyes got me hopin
That I'll be holding you close tonight
Your eyes got me dreamin
Your eyes got me blind
Your eyes got me hopin
That I'll be holding you close tonight

She was the same as a hundred ladies
But when my eyes looked at her I learned
That she was keepin a secret fire
And if I got real close I'd burn
So it looked like I had to move slowly
Like a cat at night in the trees
'Cause I was waiting for her to show me
The way that she like her love to feel

Your eyes got me dreamin
Your eyes got me blind
Your eyes got me hopin
That I'll be holding you close tonight
Your eyes got me dreamin
Your eyes got me blind
Your eyes got me hopin
That I'll be holding you close tonight

Ebony eyes, ebony eyes
Ebony eyes, ebony eyes

Your eyes got me dreamin
Your eyes got me blind
Your eyes got me hopin
That I'll be holding you close tonight
Your eyes got me dreamin
Your eyes got me blind
Your eyes got me hopin
That I'll be holding you close tonight

The song ended and Lindsey kept singing, pressing Stevie's body firmly into his own.

"Your eyes got me dreamin, your eyes got me blind, your eyes got me hopin, that I'll be holding you close tonight"

"I might just let you hold me close tonight" Stevie says.

"You might?"

"If you're a good boy" she tells him.

"I think I can manage that" he says. "Won't be much longer until we aren't alone anymore"

"Our break is almost over" Stevie moans dramatically and he chuckles.

"I know, baby, but only a couple more months and we will be free from tour"

"Then back in the studio"

"That's true"

"I don't want to go"

"I think you will want to once we've been home for a while. That itch to create, to perform"

"I know, but right now, being with you like this is all I want. I'd give up just about anything to just stay in this house and cuddle with you"

"You're so cute" he tells her, kissing the tip of her nose.

"I love you, Lindsey"

"I love you too, honey. Is Mick still coming over tonight?"

"Yeah, can't I just cancel?"

"No, he...he really wants to talk to you and it's pretty important"

"Can't he call?"

"Stevie..."

"Fine. I guess I should change then"

"You look great as you are. Relax. I've never known you to be antisocial."

"It's not that I am antisocial, I just haven't been feeling good recently. I think I'm coming down with something"

"How long have you felt this way?"

"Just a couple of days, maybe."

"With all the vitamins and supplements you took on the road, I find it hard to believe you're sick"

"I know, I just don't feel right"

"Want me to reschedule?"

"No, it won't be long until he's here and I couldn't do that."

"Well just let me know if you need me to take care of you. You were in such a good mood today, I'm shocked you aren't in top form"

"Usually I feel good but sometimes...man, it's awful"

"You should see a doctor. Being on the road like that is going to be hell"

"I'm sure it will pass"

"If you say so" he says, knowing he can never tell her what to do.

Mick arrives with a bottle of wine, looking rather sharp. He kisses Stevie's cheek and greets Lindsey with a simple nod. Lindsey isn't giving him a very friendly, warm look and Mick looks away.

"Are you going to stand out there all night?" Stevie asks, smiling at him. Mick gives a small smile back and enters the house. Stevie takes the wine from him and pours two glasses, one for each of the boys. Due to her feeling out of sorts lately, she chooses to have just water.

"Thank you for having me" Mick says.

"You're our friend. You're always welcome" Stevie says, "Sit down"

"I spoke with Lindsey and I've been working up the courage to tell you. Now, don't blame your husband when I tell you this. He doesn't deserve to be in hot water. It's all me and before I tell you, I'm so sorry"

"You're making me nervous" Stevie says, placing a hand on her stomach. It is doing flip flops and she feels ill.

"I, um...I'm the one who told Carol where we were." Mick winces, waiting for a reaction.

"Excuse me? I don't think I heard you right"

"Carol and I were sleeping together after she and Lindsey broke up. I was talking how I always do about this and that. It had come out in conversation that before Christmas we'd be in Hawaii and I might have told her specific dates...."

"You...you pulled me off that tramp and made me seem like the bad guy. You told her where we would be and she came and attacked me in an attempt to get Lindsey back. She's crazy and you know she hates my guts, and believe me, I'm not too fond of her. What the hell?!"

"I'm sorry, it slipped. It was an accident. I had no idea she would go to such lengths"

"So about Lindsey...why would he be in trouble?"

"I told him before I came to you about this"

"Like a few days ago, last week...?"

"No, I told him at your New Year's party"

"But that was...almost 6 months ago. Oh my god!" Stevie gets up suddenly and looks quite pale.

"Are you okay, honey?" Lindsey asks.

"I need a minute" Stevie says, walking quickly down the hallway. Lindsey follows after her and sees her go into the bathroom, slamming the door. She is sick and his heart breaks hearing the wrenching sounds coming from behind the door.

"Baby, open up"

"No, go away!" She yells.

"Let me help you. You're sick"

"Thanks for the play by play" she says, her voice shaky.

"Steph, please..."

"No, leave me alone. I don't have it in me to deal with you right now" Lindsey is torn. He wants to take care of her but she seems very angry and most likely won't want to talk to him tonight. He goes back to Mick on the couch and sits down.

"So that went well" Mick said. "I make her physically ill."

"It wasn't you"

"Maybe I should leave"

"No, stay. She will eventually come out. She's pretty mad at me too"

"I'm sorry. I've made a huge mess"

"We. We've made a huge mess" Lindsey says. "How about another glass?" He raises the wine bottle from the coffee table.

"Sure. I think we'll need it"

"No doubt" Lindsey confirms, pouring them each another hearty glass of wine. They clink their glasses, silently toasting to their coming demise at the hands of a tiny woman in a shawl and platforms. They gulp the liquid down, breathing heavily afterward. It was going to be a long night.
