La, La Chic
Isabelle's P.O.V
What the hell I am going to wear?
I looked at the clothes I had scattered on the bed and frown. How was I supposed to go out on a date with Oswaldo when I have absolutely nothing to wear? This was the first time he asked me out and it didn't involve Megan. Don't get me wrong I loved Megan, she's an adorable kid, but I really wanted to go out with him alone. And when he finally did ask, I've got nothing to wear.
"Hill, I've nothing to wear, what am I going to do?"
I was full out panicking, throwing outfits after outfits to one side of the bed trying to find the right one.
"I'm doomed!"
I threw myself on the bed with the clothes. Hillary came to stand over me, rolling her eyes when she saw my entire wardrobe lying on the bed under me.
"Come on, Izzy, you've got more clothes than me and I'm the shopaholic."
She leaned forward and pulled a dress from under me none too gently. I frowned up at her, but she ignored me.
"What about this? This is really pretty."
I sat up and snatched the dress from her hands, "Yeah if I was going to church."
She grabbed another outfit and I shook my head, "Too much, I'm a slut."
Rolling her eyes, she picked up another, and I shook my head again. "Not too much, I'm a slut."
I threw myself back down on the bed and groaned loudly, "It's no use, let's face it, I've got nothing to wear."
Hillary threw herself on the bed next to me. "Ok, so we go shopping."
I turned to look at her like she was crazy, "Hill, my budget doesn't allow for buying new clothes, you know that."
Her face broke out into a big smile, "That's why we're going to this little shop that sells amazing clothes, but we're gonna like, get it for like half the price. How super is that?"
I frowned down at her. What the hell is she talking about? "Hill, even half the price is still over my budget."
I hate to burst her bobble, but she knows that the only thing I accepted from my mother was my college tuition, everything else I worked and paid for by getting a job.
"Izzy, trust me. Remember that girl I told you I met in the library, the black girl with the big ass?"
She looked at me waiting for me to confirm I remember, I nodded my head.
"How could I not, it was all you talked about for a week."
"Like, how could I not? Her body was, um, how do you say it...wicked! Anyway, like I was saying, her mom owns a little bouquet, that sells these really awesome clothes and she says that if we shop there we'll get friends discount."
I frowned harder at her, getting up from my spot on the bed, I gestured with my hand to the bed. "Why didn't you tell me this before I emptied the entire content of my wardrobe on my bed?!"
She got up and faced me too, "Because you're stubborn and you like would never have listened to me."
I give her a look clearly saying that she had me all wrong. She in turn put her hands on her hips and frowned at me.
"Remember prom? I told you to like, come with me to the mall to buy a dress, but you clearly refused, saying that you'll like, wear one that you already got. Then the day before prom you called me in a panic, saying that you having absolutely nothing to wear."
I chuckled inwardly, I remember that day. Hillary was so upset that she had to cut her salon and spa visit short to accompany me to the mall. We were lucky that there was a new store that had just opened and received a new shipment of dresses that day.
"Yeah, but that doesn't count."
"Why," She asked still frowning.
"Because I was young and stupid then, now I'm older and wiser."
She cast a look at my bed and all the clothes I had on it then back to me, "Sure, if you say so."
I opened my mouth to defend myself, but the light tap on our door stopped me.
"They're here." Hillary squealed.
"Who's here?" I asked.
"Georgia, the girl I told you about and her roommate and best friend, Meg.
She reached for the door but then turned back to me. Her face held a warning, "Be nice to Meg, she's like, a little shy and a little weird, but like, very beautiful. With a little makeup and a change of outfit, she'd be super sexy."
"What! I'm nice to everyone."
She gave me a 'yeah really?' look, "Do I have to remind you about Steven Flinch?"
My face coloured, she was right, my mouth can put me in so much trouble some times. But I still felt like defending myself.
"That was an accident."
"So you accidently told him that his braces made his breath stink, and his head was shaped like Frisbee. And like, if he didn't weigh himself down with rocks, he's likely to be blown away."
Yeah ok, so that wasn't an accident, but I couldn't help it. Words just come into my brain and spill out of my mouth before I can stop it.
A next knock came on the door, a little louder than the first. But Hillary gave me a pointed looked before she opened it.
"Ok, ok I'll behave, I promise."
Seeming satisfy, she turned the knob and let two black girls in. The one who I guess was Georgia stepped in first with, a short shy girl behind her, who I guess was Meg. They were both beautiful, but Meg was exceptional.
"Hey, girl you ready?" Georgia asked, Hillary.
"Like, are we ever."
Hillary then turned to me, "Georgia, this is Isabelle, my best friend."
Georgia smiled at me and waved. "Hey Isabelle, I'm Georgia, but you can call me G..."
She pointed to the girl by her side, hiding behind big glasses.
"...this here is Megan, but you can call her Meg."
I said hi to both girl, but I mainly kept my eyes on Meg. There was something about her that seems familiar, I just couldn't place it.
"Well, now that we've all met each other, let get the hell up outta here and do some shopping!" Georgia exclaimed.
We all left the room and went about buying our outfit to wear to the club.
We pulled up outside of a massive shop named, La, La Chic. I looked over at Hillary with my eyes wide and mouthed, "Little my ass."
She give me a guilty look and mouthed back, "Sorry."
As we entered the shop, we were greeted by a tall, elegantly dressed black woman. She was an older version of Georgia, but with a lot more class.
"Darling, must you always wear those ratchet clothes. It's insulting to me."
The words was said with a smile as she embraced Georgia. She then turn and smile at the rest of us. Her face was kind and motherly.
"Darling, aren't you going to introduce me to your friends?"
Georgia gestured to us one by one, "Mom, this is, Hillary, Isabelle, and Meg. Guys, this is my mother Lalita Yolanda."
Suddenly we were all engulfed in a warm hug. "Nice to meet you lovely ladies."
After the introduction, we were all ushered into the shop and the most elaborate shopping spree. The clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories were out of this world. We had the run of the entire shop to ourselves. We spent hours, trying on outfit after outfit.
After trying on like fifteen outfits, I finally found one. It was a sexy low back pale pink dress. It hugged my top half of my body but flared at the bottom, stopping about six inches above me knee.
"What do you guys think?" I asked.
"It really beautiful and it looked like it was made for you."
Meg replied. After spend a few hours with her, I realised that she wasn't shy, just reserved. She just like to keep to herself and who can blame her, because as much as I like to talk and as opened as I was, I only had one friend I truly trusted and that was Hillary.
"I think it's going to blow that boyfriend of yours away, let's see him try and resist you now, you are so gonna get laid tonight."
My cheeks redden, and I shot Hillary a look. The girls started laughing, making me blush harder.
"Let's not talk about getting laid in front of the virgin."
Georgia shot Meg a look. Meg just rolled her eyes and muttered, "Whatever."
I opened my mouthing and spoke without thinking. "You can't seriously be a virgin, right?"
Hillary's eyes widen in shock, but Meg just shrugged it off, saying.
"I can neither confirm nor deny that fact."
Georgia snorted, "She a virgin."
We all started laughing, including Meg. From then on we continued shopping and exploring all the levels of the shop.
