Chapter 2 Edward Cullen
It had been a couple of days for the Swan household to forget their priorities and relax. It had been a good three days for them which lifted Charlie's spirits. No sulking in her room, no night terrors and no mentioning of the 'E' word for Bella. His eldest daughter was now lively again, always in the living room either conversing with her sister or reading the morning paper. Charlie knew that this had something to do with Nia being back in their lives. He finally got his girls back. And he hoped that it would stay.....until Saturday night.
It was passed midnight when Nia woke up due to screams coming from Bella's room. Her first instinct; grab a bat and swing. She ran to her older sister's bedroom but by the time she arrived, Charlie was already there comforting her screaming sister and there were no intruders. Charlie cradled Bella who kept on thrashing around in bed crying.
Nia was aghast by this not knowing what to do next. Never in her life had she seen Bella or anyone have a breakdown. She dropped the bat in shock which garnered her father's attention.
"Go back to your room Nia." Nia opened her mouth to say something but closed it realising that she lost for words. She didn't know how to respond. "PLEASE" She flinched at her father's tone and ran strait back to her room. It took all night for Nia to blur out the memory and fall asleep, all whilst clutching her stress ball.

Nia woke up again; this time to the sounds of birds chirping outside her window which she always left shut. Nevertheless, they were still annoyingly loud. The memory of last night flashed through her mind. Maybe it was just a dream, hopefully. Nia glanced at the clock by her nightstand. It was past ten, Charlie usually wakes me up and brings me a cup of coffee before nine. It had been like that for the last three days. Nia stood up letting her feet make contact with the cold wooden floorboards. She grabbed the blanket on her bed and wrapped it around herself to keep her warm. She was beginning to miss the weather in Arizona, now she had to get used to the always cold one in Forks. No one was downstairs. Not even Bella who was usually the first to wake up and lounge by the coach watching the morning news. Maybe they're out shopping Nia thought. They did ran out of eggs. A post it note was on the fridge and it said...
Duty calls girls. Don't want me to loose my job right? And you both need to go to school tomorrow.
BTW there's no more coffee Nia.
-CHARLIE
Great, no wake up call and no coffee. Nia groaned. She decided to make breakfast for her and her sister. Bacon and eggs, her mouth began to water. But she got to wake up her sister first. Nia jogged up the stairs and into Bella's room. She bit her lip in anticipation. What happened to her last night? Nia swing the door open. Surprise, surprise, there she was on the same chair she was sitting on four days prior. "Is it just you or did the empty lot next to us magically built a house with a hot neighbour?" Nia tried to joke. Silence.."It doesn't have a great view to be honest"...more silence..."Charlie is at work and we need to go to school tomorrow."...silence again...Nia hugged her sister from behind. She felt horrible not knowing what was happening to her older sister. Whatever it was, it was intense. Nia thought of that boy who broke her sister's heart. Whatever his name is, he's dead to me.
--------
It was Monday, a day that Nia had dreaded, her first day in school. Forks High School looked like any other high school in the country, with the same set of people in the social hierarchy. What she learned from other schools was to blend. Don't stand out too much at the same time don't be that freak hiding in the corner of the room, just blend. But blending in was going to be difficult for the brunette since all eyes were now on her. It is no secret that Forks don't get a lot of new people, so unfortunately for Nia, she was now the talk of the school. The brunette started to feel conscious of her outfit choise; ripped denim jeans, a white turtleneck, a red striped cardigan, scarf, hot, boots and a tribal necklace her uncle Billy gave her as a little child. She started fiddling with her scarf which hung loose around her neck. Girls started whispering in envy of her face while boys proceeded to check her out and comment "Hot fresh meat coming through!" Nia shook her head at these immature high schoolers. She was too mature for this.
Bella (whose mind is still floating with the clouds) didn't notice the attention on her sister proceeded inside the building and headed towards her classroom. Nia sighed, they talked about Bella showing Nia around in the car but Bella insisted that she has to cram before a test and taught Nia the directions instead. Of course, Nia knew that 'cramming' was just an excuse for her not to face her sister while she's suffering 'depression'. Bella was also smart like Nia, at least Nia hopes that Bella is still maintaining her strait A's. She seemed to not know what's going on these days. Success! She managed not to get lost and made it to her first period in time.
--------
It was now lunchtime. By that time, Nia was more than happy to eat and relax. Education gave her a headache and the stares burning into her back made her shrink into her seat so low that people in the back thought she was missing a head. Despite what Bella said about treating new kids like they were invisible, Nia had managed to get new friend, they were all in Bella's year. The Swan sisters maybe introverts but Nia has it more in control. Her new found friend was named Jessica Stanely, an annoying yet friendly brunette who seemed to be quite the chatterbox...especially about other people's business. "...so I told her to get revenge on her pathetic ex and best friend. Now she works in a diner cause she got expelled. Gosh I love it when I tell people to do bad things. It amuses me, don't you get amused?" All Nia could do was nod throughout another one of Jessica's stories. Not only can she talk a lot but she can ramble very fast. Nia still played like she wasn't getting irritated, she didn't blame her, it's just her personality..And she want to be sitting alone her own on the first day. Jessica brought her back to her table. Sitting down, Nia was met with new faces. Jessica introduced her "Meet Nia Swan everybody; sister of Bella Swan but she's a year younger, fresh from hot Arizona, she's considered quite a genius in her old school and word is that if she maintains her almost perfect grades she'll be graduating with us, and she has her eyes set on Oxford, she's shy like her sister but has more of a fashion sense in the bohemian clothing department and is addicted to coffee." By the time Jessica was finished, Nia had her mouth wide open in shock holding up her cup of coffee. Jessica seemed to take this as a compliment and sat down. Everybody in the table didn't look surprise, they all had knowing smiles.
"Jessica here is know for scaring the crap out of people with information they didn't even know went public." A good looking guy patted Jessica's shoulder. He had a cute baby face with blonde hair but seeing how close he was with Jessica, he wasn't available. "OUCH" She gave him a hard nudge. "I'm Mike Newton." He groaned clutching his right arm.
A camera flash made Nia temporarily blind for a moment. She sat down trying to avoid tripping due to imbalance. Nia blinked a few times before seeing a blurred figure of a guy and his hand outstretched for a handshake. "Sorry for that. I'm Eric Yorkie, reporter of the school paper and you're going to be on the cover." The brunette missed his hand still having a blurry vision. People in the table laughed a little causing the newest addition to the group to blush. A couple more girls and boys in the table introduced themselves, seems like Nia has found herself a group. Nia caught a glimpse Bella walking in the cafeteria and sitting alone in a table beside the windows. A year in and she doesn't have any friends? Jessica noticed what the youngest Swan was thinking about.
"Bella used to sit in that same exact spot." Wait..then that meant everyone in this table was Bella's group. It surprised her since these type of people weren't exactly Bella's cup of tea. Nia thought it too at first glance but after a couple minutes into their goofy and friendly conversation, it was best to not judge a book by it's cover. "I knew Edward was an asshole." Jessica rolled her eyes.
"Edward?" Nia repeated not knowing who this 'Edward' was. Everyone looked at her quizzically. "What?"
Eric was the one who asked what everyone was thinking. "You're telling us that you don't know that tall, pale, handsome guy with a weird but freakishly good looking adoptive family who always kept to themselves, okay with incest and mysteriously moved away a couple months ago?" Nia shook her head in confusion.
"Looks like you and your sister aren't that close." Jessica smirked.
Mike gave Nia the direct answer "Edward Cullen, the dude your sister dated before he moved the same day your sister went missing in the woods?"
Nia chocked on her coffee "SHE WHAT?!"
