Chapter 10 50/50
"Damn it." Nia switched her position laying down on her back, then her stomach, then sideways, then on her back again. All in ten seconds. She was glad that it was summer so she didn't have to wake up at six in the morning. Still, Nia was desperate. She couldn't sleep. All she had been doing was think for the last thirteen hours. Her thoughts drifted to this afternoon....
They had transferred to the lounge awaiting for Jacob's arrival. No one in the room told him that Bella was back but another one of Alice's vision said that it was Charlie Swan who did. They all stood up whilst Bella and Nia sat on the couch. Closest to them was Rosalie who wouldn't leave Bella's side since her pregnancy was announced. Nia wondered why. She knew very well that Rosalie Hale couldn't stand Bella. Nia also had noticed that Edward kept avoiding his wife's gaze. Finally, loud knocks were heard from below. Carlisle Cullen left the room saying, "I got it."
Moments later, Jacob practically ran to Bella's side until Rosalie blocked his view. "Close enough" She said glaring at the wolf.
"What's you problem?" He replied with the same venomous attitude.
But Bella got in the middle before anything happened. "Rose, it's okay." The blonde hesitantly moved away. Jacob had a strait face however, so Nia wasn't so sure of what he was gonna do next. Jacob was still concerned though, he could'nt even recognise Bella because she was practically a walking stick! He sat down rather calmly at the seat in front of her. "You look terrible." Nia exhaled in relief that he didn't shout.
"It's nice to see you too Jake." He nodded. "So are you gonna tell me what's wrong with you?"
Bella looked at Nia who nodded a 'yes'. She thought that it was rather best to show then tell. With the help of Rosalie and her sister, Bella managed to get off of the couch making the blanket to fall exposing her swollen belly. That was when he started shouting.
"You did this!" he marched up to Edward. Emmett was the one who stopped him from hitting the father to be.
"He didn't know that it was possible. No one did. The only thing we know that it's strong and fast growing. We don't know for sure what it is." Carlisle explained.
Alice also stepped up, "I can't see it either." She looked own on the ground. "I can't even see Bella's future anymore."
"Then why haven't you done anythig?! Take it out of her."
That's when Rosalie snapped. "This is none of your business dog!"
"None of this fighting isn't goof for Bella." Esme stood in the middle.
"The fetus isn't good for Bella." Alice retorted. She shook her head at her adoptice mother who gave her a disapproving look.
Rosalie glared at her and continues lashing out. "It's just a little BABY!"
Jacob looked at Carlisle in despair. "You got to do something-"
"-NO" Bella's voice boomed. That's the first time she joined their debate. She glared at Jacob, then Alice, even at Edward. "It's not any of your choice. I'm keeping my baby and if you al love me, then at least support me. Right Nia?" She looked at her sister expectantly to agree.
But all Nia could do was stutter. Cold sweat ran down on her arms. There were two teams in this debate. Pro baby and abort baby, she was neither, she couldn't make up her mind. But the eyes burning holes at Nia in the room told her to pick a team. She couldn't bear knowing that the little 'angel' inside her sister's womb would eventually kill her sister, at the same time, she could never forgive herself if she forced Bello to go ahead with this abortion.
Up till now at three in the morning Nia had yet to make up her mind about oicking a side. BElla refused to talk to her after Nia settled with a "I-um-uhh". She shifted positions again, this time she was facing the window. A silhouette of a person climbing her window started her. She grabbed the baseball bat hidden underneath her bed and prepared to swing. By the time the 'intruder' opened the window and climb in, Nia had let go of the bat and jumped back right into the bed. She looked at him with curiosity. "How do you know that I'm still wide awake this late?"
Paul smiled at her and placed a hand on her cheek. "Your my imprint darling. Of course I would know if something was up." She patted the empty space beside her to which he gladly laid down on and began spooning her. "Want to tell me why you ran out on me today?"
"I kind of don't want to, please."
"Okay" he said softly placing a gentle kiss on her cheek. The last thing she heard before she drifted off into a dreamless sleep was Paul whispering in her ear "I love you" before soft snores echoed throughout the room.
