Chapter 9

"I ordered you a hangover soup. Come here," Jimin said as soon as he saw Jungkook. He looked even adorable with his messy hair and flushed face in the morning.

Jungkook perked at the smell of food, Taehyung unwrapped and wordlessly strode to the couch dropping beside him. Jimin grabbed three bottles of water before sitting cross-legged on the floor. They served themselves in silence and Jungkook immediately began to dig in, a contented moan leaving his mouth.

They continued to eat in silence before Taehyung spoke, "Minnie, where did you park the car? I didn't see it outside."

Jimin froze for a moment, his spoon lifted halfway to his mouth. Minnie...There was that word again. His two-storey building didn't have a dedicated parking lot. The residents usually parked in front of their home, wherever they found space.

"I...didn't drive last night," Jimin said. "After you left I ran into a few guests and ended up having a few shots," he lied smoothly not wanting to raise suspicion. "We took a taxi home."

"Oh." Taehyung didn't push further.

"I...I'm sorry for the trouble last night," Jungkook said. "I usually have a driver, but Geonu's wife is in hospital, so I gave him off this week."

"Is she alright?" Jimin lifted a brow.

"She's pregnant and is expected to give birth this week," Taehyung said.

"That's sweet of you," Jimin admitted. Jungkook really cared for his employees. First, Jasmine and now Geonu. At the moment, Jimin felt grateful to work for someone like Jungkook. "You were no trouble last night," he said. "I don't remember the last time a guy used me as a human plushy."

Red tainted Jungkook's cheeks and he averted his gaze to his food, chewing at his lips. Taehyung on the other hand stared between them with his mouth agape.

"I...I'm..." Jungkook blinked.

"If anything, you called me hot, kissed me a few times, and hugged the life out of me," Jimin teased.

Taehyung sputtered. "You kissed him?" His eyes bugged as he glared at his friend.

Jungkook sunk into the couch. "I...I'm really sorry," he mumbled, fiddling with his chopsticks. "I didn't mean too..." He looked adorable.

Jimin burst out laughing. "Relax, Mr. Jeon. I was just joking about the kiss." But his own cheeks heated up at the memory of Jungkook nuzzling his neck intimately. "Other parts were true."

Jungkook pursed his lips and grabbed the bowl, shoveling the food into his mouth while Taehyung looked at him incredulously.

"Sorry...couldn't help it," Jimin smiled and continued to eat. An awkward silence filled the living room after that and Jungkook didn't lift his head at all. Did he push it too far? He just wanted to lighten up the mood. It didn't take long before they finished the food and Taehyung helped cleaning. Jungkook didn't move or speak a word.

Ten minutes later, Jimin flicked the TV off, sunk into the couch, and threw a his forearm over his eyes. He was alone again, only with the silence to accompany him.

Life had been anything but perfect for Jimin. The unfortunate accident that left him with selective amnesia had thrown him off the grid. His life was anything, but normal. If waking up with no memory of his own name wasn't enough, it hurt more to know no one ever came looking for him.

The doctors said it was a miracle he survived, but Jimin saw no point in their claim. What was the use of living on when you had no purpose? He had no one.

Oh, what he would give just to have a few friends to hang out with and talk nonsense. He had Hoseok, but he was too far away and too busy. His doctor encouraged him to make friends and start dating. It was easier said than done though.

Jimin tried dating scene and soon decided it wasn't for him. A simple question such as 'What's your favorite color?' or 'What's your favorite food?' or 'What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?' frustrated him. Because he couldn't remember the answer. He couldn't remember even the simplest things.

"Jimin-ah, just because you can't remember these things doesn't mean you can't live your life normally," Seokjin, his doctor had told him once. "You know what's even better? You can experiment with things, decide what you like and what you don't." They were at a park. Seokjin had taken interest in him when he found Jimin had no one. They often met outside his therapy room. He along with Hoseok had played a major role, helping him reintegrate back into the community. "Look around you now, Jimin-ah. This place is full of colors." His voice enthusiasm was contagious. "Tell me what you like."

Jimin looked around the luscious grass, flowers, and all-around before lying on his back. As he stared at the sky, he found a sense of calm settling in his chest. "I like the sky," he decided.

"That wasn't difficult now, was it?" Seokjin had smiled encouragingly. "I understand it's not easy, but life is worth living, Jimin-ah. Think of it this way, fate has given you a chance to start fresh. Use this chance and rediscover what type of person you are and what you want to be."

He had tried to follow his advice and built himself over the years. But letting someone close to him wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. If not for the bag he was carrying with him, he wouldn't even have found what his name was. The file that held his educational achievements and the resume he had with his work experience listed had been his lifeline.

His phone was missing and he didn't remember if he ever owned a phone, so no help there. Hoseok tried to find him on social media and said he found nothing. He had attended Cyber University so it made sense if he didn't have many friends.

He learned he came from Busan and later moved to Seoul from one of the school certificates. He went to Busan, starting from the place of his birth. His parents were dead and one of the people who knew his family had told him, his grandfather had moved to Seoul with him after his parent's death. And then he too had died. It explained why no one came looking for him.

He went back to his school and tried to find something. His persistent trips back and forth to his previous workplaces hadn't helped either. Either the people who had worked with him had little knowledge of him, or they had already left. He gave up after three years and resigned to this part of his life.

As much as it hurt, he was determined not to let this bring him down. Initially, they were hopeful that he would get his memory back. A few incidents triggered something in him, but it only resulted in severe migraines that led to frequent panic attacks and depression. Last year he finally decided to let go of his past.

Minnie...

An involuntary smile tugged at the corner of his lips. Though he didn't admit it aloud, he liked how Taehyung kept calling him that.

Call me Tae.

Jimin couldn't understand why he felt like he knew Taehyung for all his life. There was this strange connection. Just being in the same room as he had put his mind at ease. He didn't understand why Tae was being skittish around him. The awkwardness between them was so obvious. Why did a social butterfly like Taehyung behave weird around him?

His boss was whole another story. The man was too handsome for his own good. He sighed as he sat upright. Don't think too much, Jimin-ah. He tended to overthink things when he had nothing to do. The familiar irritation was building in his mind again.

He pulled his phone out, scrolling through the handful of contacts, and stopped when he saw Seokjin's name. He dialed it without giving it another thought.

"Yah, Jimin-ah...How have you been?"

"Good." Jimin sighed. "Hyung, are you busy today?"

"Nah, want to come over? I'll cook. We can play games and watch TV."

"Sounds like a plan. See you in an hour."

"Sure."

Jimin jumped to his feet and hurried to his room. Seokjin had started treating him like a younger brother over years and he was always a person he could turn into when he felt like the world was slipping around it. Now he needed someone to talk to escape the dull pounding in his head that started at the base of his skull.

"Really, Kookie?" Taehyung yelled in his signature pissed voice for the hundredth time that evening. "Of all the people you can spend your night with, you had to go to Jimin again," he scoffed. "I wish you had rather gone with Yuna last night."

Jungkook gasped, "Hyung..."

"What?" Taehyung lifted his brows. "You slept with Park freaking Jimin."

"I didn't sleep with him."

"He said you called him hot and kept hugging him. We both know what that meant."

"I'm sorry..." Jungkook looked down to his hands on his lap, he fiddled with his fingers as he mulled over the events from last night.

"Why did you call him hot?"

Jungkook swallowed. Because he looked so delectable last night. He didn't say it out loud, fearing Taehyung would lose his shit if he did so. "I don't remember that."

Taehyung grabbed the water bottle, drinking a generous amount before fixing his brown gaze on him. "Jungkook-ah, I don't think you realize the weight of the situation yet," he said, his eyes softening after a moment. "You're falling for him again."

"I'm not," Jungkook blinked as he mumbled. He couldn't meet Taehyung's gaze.

"Sure. Do you think I'm a fool? I've known you since you were fourteen. I've seen how it all started between the two of you. You were head over heels for Jimin even before you were sure of your sexuality."

Jungkook didn't respond, instead he looked at the sky. They were both in Taehyung's apartment again, lounging in his terrace like they did every weekend.

"You look at him like your entire world revolves around him. Jungkook-ah, I just...I just don't want to see you going through all that again. Stay away from him. It's not too late. We can still transfer him to some other location and hire someone new."

Too late. Jungkook realized. The moment he had Jimin back in his arms he knew he couldn't let him go again. Last night flashed in his mind again. Though he was drunk, he remembered most of it now. Jimin had let Jungkook hold him the entire night.

"Jungkookie..." Taehyung knelt in front of him and Jungkook met his gaze. Both staring silently as a look of understanding settled in Taehyung's face. He shook his head slowly and stood. "I see... You're playing with fire, Jungkook-ah. Proceed at your own risk. When you crash and burn, hyung will be here to catch you."

With that, Taehyung walked away leaving him alone. A lone tear trekked down Jungkook's cheek. He hated himself at this moment. He tried hating Jimin for what he had done. He thought he had succeeded until Jimin waltzed into his life again. Now he realized that no matter what Jimin did to him, he could never hate that man. As painful as it was to admit, Jungkook would rip his own heart and hand it to him if he ever demanded that.

For years, he had wondered what it would feel like to have Jimin back in his life again. For years, he imagined Jimin apologizing to him and begged him to give him a chance. For years, he had dreamed of starting fresh with Jimin.

But then, he also couldn't let go of the pain Jimin inflicted on him. He really didn't know what to do anymore.

Writing this story started as a fun challenge between me and my friend. This plot had been swimming in my head for a while now. But when we were at it, I realized this would make more sense with Jimin and Jungkook in it. So, here it is...

If you're wondering...I do write Contemporary fiction under a different name. Fanfiction is a new to me. I'm enjoying so far. Hope you like my scribbles. Let me know what you think.
