Chapter - 61

The lack of warmth was what Jimin registered when he woke the next time. He rolled under the sheet, feeling better and relaxed. The curtains were open, giving him a view of the city lights. It was dark and he frowned lifting himself on his elbow as he looked for his phone.

It was fifteen minutes to eight in the evening. Shit. He had slept all day. He rubbed the heel of his palm over his eyes and threw his legs off the bed, heading to the bathroom to freshen up. When he went outside, Jungkook was on his laptop working diligently. His head snapped up, eyes brightening before an unsure expression crossed his features.

Jungkook placed the laptop on the table and stood with a forced smile. "Dinner is ready," he said softly, averting his gaze to the floor.

Jimin nodded and made his way to the kitchen counter. Jungkook flitted around the kitchen, heating their food and platting it before bringing it to the counter that doubled as their dining table.

"I made tteok-bokki with chicken."

Jimin hummed, accepting the plate and dug in. Jungkook had always been a great cook. He started cooking when he was still a teenager and has only gotten better over the years. The silence settled between them. Unspoken words clung heavily over them. Jimin didn't know how to start a conversation first. He bared his heart that morning and they still had so much to talk. Usually, it was Jungkook who gave him the silent treatment. Jimin didn't mean to shut him out, he simply didn't know where to begin.

Soon he finished eating and pushed the empty plate aside, waiting for Jungkook to finish. Jungkook once again took the empty plates to wash while Jimin sat sipping the water, seemingly lost in thoughts.

"Hyung, do you wanna go for a drive?"

"Huh?" Jimin looked up blinking.

Jungkook shifted on his feet. "The weather is nice. Maybe we can take a walk by the Han River."

Jimin nodded. "I'll get changed."

A few minutes later, they hit the road. Jimin welcomed the fresh air and change of scenery. His thoughts were racing but his mind was oddly calm. The silence settled between them. He could sense Jungkook's gaze on him from time to time, but the silence wasn't unnerving or uncomfortable like before.

He closed his eyes just enjoying the weather and the drive. Jimin didn't realize how much time had passed. It appeared as if they were driving forever when the car finally slowed down and Jungkook parked in the designated space. Jimin got out with a sigh, taking in the pleasant view, and pulled the hood of his hoodie over his head.

They both walked side by side, taking a stroll along the river before settling on a bench that offered a great view of the river. Jimin admired the luxury yachts in the distance, relishing the tranquility. Jungkook was silent, observing the scene.

A few minutes later, Jungkook reached for Jimin's hand, threading their fingers together. They stayed like that, just two people soaking up in the serenity of their surroundings. Jungkook's phone buzzed, interrupting their moment. The youngest apologized before taking the call and walking away.

Jimin sighed, crossing his legs and leaning on the backrest of the bench. When Jungkook did not return after a few minutes, Jimin threw a glance over his shoulders to the direction Jungkook headed earlier. A frown tugged at his mouth, seeing no signs of the youngest. His eyes darted to the trees. They were at the least crowded side of the park. There were a couple of people here and there, but they were too distant.

Where did he go?

He jumped to his feet and started to look around. Suddenly, a muffled voice from his left caught his attention. Jimin's senses went on high alert as he rushed to the source of the sound. This area was a bit darker with no street lamps and a bit was hidden from the public because of the trees and fancy bushes.

The sounds, more like grunts grew louder when he neared a fat tree trunk and Jimin saw movements behind the tree. The youngest being in any sort of danger, made him act immediately and he rushed forward.

What he saw froze him for a brief moment before he acted on impulse. Now Jimin was fit. He hadn't practiced Taekwondo in years, but he exercised regularly and it could be the muscle memory. Because before he knew what he was doing, he had kicked the man approaching Jungkook with a knife, effectively dislodging the weapon.

Jimin brought his right elbow up, hitting the side of the attacker's head, and heard a painful grunt as he went down. The other two holding Jungkook was on him in a moment. Jimin ducked, blocking a foot that was aimed for his stomach, and jabbed the other man's solar plexus. He staggered back and Jimin used the opportunity to knee the second man in his groin and punching his nose. The second one went down while the first one recovered and came at him with his fists.

His position was all wrong. Jimin dodged his fist, grabbing the same hand and landed a blow above his collarbone. The man let out a painful grunt, falling down and he saw Jungkook fighting another one.

Before Jimin could help, someone tackled him. This one was taller and well-built. He tried to put Jimin on chokehold, but the latter dropped to the ground, rolling to the side before kicking out at his knees. When the guy's knees buckled, Jimin punched out. But the guy was quicker. He blocked Jimin's attack and landed a blow on Jimin's stomach.

Jimin bent over, biting the inside of his cheeks as he moved in time to avoid the next punch. The other guy went all offensive attacking Jimin with everything he got. Jimin took a defensive stance, blocking his attacks. He received a punch on his jaw but used the opportunity to land a worse on the other's mouth. The other guy's lips burst, blood dripping from the wound.

With a growl, he lunged at Jimin. Both stumbled on their feet, Jimin barely avoiding the attack when the guy tried to head-butt him. Jimin landed one punch after the other aiming for the guy's ribs, receiving a few. But he barely felt the pain.

The guy backed Jimin into a tree, large hands enclosing his throat as he slowly squeezed. Jimin let his instincts guide him as he caught one of his attacker's fingers, bending it backward and hearing a satisfying crack. This was no practice match. This was a real fight where he didn't have to worry about breaking a few bones.

He was too focused on the guy he was fighting with and when he noticed the distinct whoosh and a vision of something coming at him from the corner of his eye. It was too late to intervene.

Jungkook shot his hand out, blocking the attack and a painful cry slipped out of his mouth. The guy with the steel rod lifted his hand, aiming for another blow, but Jungkook used his other hand to punch him. The man with the rod doubled over. Jungkook grabbed his shoulder, bringing his knee up, kicking the man's head. The man staggered, dropping the rod and clutching his head.

With both hands occupied, Jimin saw an opportunity to break the man's nose with that being the closest thing he could reach and took it. He brought his forehead forward, slamming into his nose. The guy cupped his nose, the dripping blood confirmed that Jimin succeeded in his task. This guy was well coordinated, unlike the others he fought and put up a fight, but Jimin was better. Jungkook on the other hand was now fighting the other man, gaining upper hand with every punch he landed on their attacker.

Jimin switched his attention to the guy who was now backing away from him. And slowly his mind registered the distant sound of sirens. A crowd had started to gather around them and Jimin assumed someone must have called the cops.

Soon, the guys were on their feet backing away. A black sedan screeched to a halt and they were running to the car, jumping in and driving away.

Jungkook was holding his injured arm and Jimin took a protective stance in front of him, eyes darting around as he accessed the threat. Shit. That was close.

Jimin knew that attack was meant for him and not Jungkook. The youngest just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He eyed their matching black hoodies, hoods pulled over their head and blue ripped jeans.

With the adrenaline now wearing off, Jimin felt his hands shake. He pulled his phone out, calling Namjoon and giving a short briefing as the first police car pulled into the curb.

Fuck.

It's going to be a long night.

Jimin slammed the front door shut and urged Jungkook to the couch in their living room. The moment police had cleared them and permitted them to leave, he had shot out like a bullet with the youngest hot on his heels. A few witnesses were kind enough to give a statement, confirming Jungkook and Jimin were the ones that were attacked tonight.

Now that they were in the safety of Jungkook's home, Jimin finally forced his body to relax and dropped on the couch beside him releasing a long sigh. His heart thundered in his chest. Accidents were one thing, but assault...It meant whoever wanted him dead was growing desperate.

"Hyung..."

Jimin blinked realizing Jungkook was shaking him.

"Oh, shit. Let me get you an ice pack." He jumped to his feet. He had checked Jungkook's hand and was relieved it was just a bruise. Jungkook said it didn't hurt. The paramedic who arrived at the spot had examined Jungkook and advised to put on an icepack. Thankfully, it wasn't worse.

When he came back with the ice pack, Jungkook had already removed the hoodie and the t-shirt he had underneath. Jimin grimaced noticing the bruises forming in Jungkook's abdomen. Jimin too had taken a few hits, but he lied to the paramedic, not wanting Jungkook to worry. It didn't hurt, so he thought it wasn't something that would bruise. He crouched on the floor in front of Jungkook, pressing the ice pack over his bruises.

Jungkook hissed, closing his eyes briefly. He held the ice pack over his abdomen while Jimin pressed the second one to his arm. The adrenaline had worn off and numbness had settled in his mind. It was a situation where he didn't know what to think anymore. His mind was blank.

"What about you?" Jungkook asked, concerning etching his voice. "You got hit too."

"I'm fine," Jimin mumbled.

"Let me check." Jungkook dropped the ice pack on his lap and tugged at Jimin's hoodie.

Jimin sighed and helped Jungkook to remove his clothes, leaving his upper body bare. He looked down at his chest and abdomen, as expected it did not bruise. "See," he smiled. "I can take a few punches." He grabbed the ice pack again and pressed it to Jungkook's arm. "Does it hurt badly?"

Jungkook nodded. "A bit."

"Do you need something for pain?"

The youngest shook his head. "Having you here is enough, hyung. I already feel better."

Jimin chuckled and cocked a brow. "Are you indirectly calling me a pain killer?"

"Better than a pain killer." Jungkook leaned forward, pausing when he was only an inch from Jimin's lips. He searched his eyes for a moment. "Can I kiss you?" His voice dipped low, gaze unsure.

Jimin cupped Jungkook's face with both his hands, bringing their lips closer and kissing him. It started slow and gently, soon warmth replaced the numbness as Jungkook's homey scent clouded his senses. Jimin sighed into the kiss, a familiar burn coiling in the stomach as Jungkook dipped his head, deepening the kiss.

Jimin pulled away, looking at Jungkook fondly. He could sense Jungkook's desperation, the urge to hold him tight and never let go. But the youngest was holding back. Jungkook's eyes were pleading, hands trembling. He caressed the side of Jungkook's face, wondering how Jungkook would feel that Jimin had come so closer to death.

They still had to clear a few things, but right now he wanted Jungkook. Jimin had no clue how to deal with the situation but he had Jungkook within his arms and he wanted to feel the youngest in every way possible.

"I love you," Jimin whispered. "I want you, Jungkookie... Want to feel all of you tonight."

Jungkook dove in, capturing his lips.

They'll talk...but let's give the babies some space. They had a bad day today.

Anyway, today was such a good day. We got Run BTS, Jimin live and wow...That Jikook moment. I melted into a puddle. Jungkook looked like an alpha male when he hugged Jimin. Taegi was just so adorable. Suga's shy smile. I missed them so much.

Next week snippet had me wheezing. Imagine Jungkook lifting Jimin. Sigh. Soop editors have to learn from Run BTS editors. Soop editors edited out majority of Jikook moments in my opinion. I felt betrayed.

Until we meet again...💜💜💜
