Chapter 34
A/N: I hate Eunji. She just won't give up.

When Jimin regained consciousness, the first thing he registered was the warmth that enveloped him. Or more like a strong hand wrapping around him, soft rhythm of heart beat against his ears and warm puff of air fanning his head. The second thing he registered is the calming and familiar scent of Jungkook. Home. A contented sigh drifted off him. The third thing was the dull ache all over his body.
Jimin inhaled deeply, taking in Jungkook's scent, snuggling to him more. The morning's accident came crashing into his memory. He forced his body to relax. He lay on his right, apparently his left side was damaged. His head still ached.
Why are you so kind even after everything I did to you? The words were at the tip of his tongue. Jimin hesitated, not wanting to ruin the moment.
He slowly lifted his head to see Jungkook awake. He stared at him with such an intensity that made him want to melt in his arms. "How are you feeling now?" Jungkook lifted a hand, brushing off the hair from his face. The tenderness in his touch almost brought tears to Jimin's eyes.
What was it? Why does this feel so familiar? He already knew the answer, only he couldn't bring out the memory like he wanted to. Jimin let the tears fall and allowed him a moment of weakness. Blame his migraine; he leaned to the touch, sighing in content when Jungkook ran his fingers through his hair, softly massaging his scalp.
"You gave me a scare, Jimin hyung," Jungkook whispered. "I died at least ten times waiting for you to wake up." His chin tested at the top of his head. "Don't ever scare me like that again."
Jimin's body shuddered, he shrank into Jungkook's embrace. Why does that make him so emotional? He choked on a sob. Was it because he always had to wake alone after an episode like that? Was it because this was the first time he had someone hold him while whispering words of comfort?
Jimin didn't know and gave up mulling when he sensed the slight ache starting somewhere at the base of his skull. He moaned a little as he buried his face into Jungkook's chest. His warmth blanketed him filling him with an odd sense of security. Not that he needed security, but it felt good. Not being alone felt good.
"Go to sleep, hyung. I'll be here when you wake up."
Jimin could only nod his head, even that small movement took a lot of effort suddenly. Letting out a sigh, he sunk into Jungkook's embrace.

Jungkook sighed as he wrapped his hands carefully around Jimin. The sun has set for the day. The recent events and Namjoon's findings had rattled him so much that after coming back from the coffee shop, he had climbed into Jimin's bed, holding him tighter with a fear of losing him if he let him out of his sight.
He had fallen asleep only to wake to soft whispers coming from behind him and Jimin stirring in his arms. Fortunately, his injuries were minor and only on the surface of skin. The bruises would take at least a week to fade. However, the incident had triggered his migraine and this time they were quick to act.
Jungkook could tell the eldest still hurt from the headache from the way he scrunched his face and reached for his head. So, he kept massaging his scalp in an attempt to soothe the ache.
When he glanced over his shoulder, he saw Taehyung and Hoseok hunched over an open file, Namjoon and Dr. Jin nowhere in sight. Who'd have thought the CEO he sought after was Jimin's hyung. The man who he chased after for over a year was now sitting casually in the same room as him, discussing the proposal with Tae.
Though things had fallen into place with Hoseok, Jungkook realized nothing mattered when it came to Jimin. The eldest had loved him without knowing his background or wealth. He never asked or cared. Initially Jungkook hid his identity to feel some normalcy, but later he forgot that part of him whenever he was around Jimin or Taehyung. With them, he wasn't a heir to the Jeon empire. To them, he was just Jungkook, a shy kid that stumbled into them in the locker room while searching for a private space to change before they headed off to practice.
Their first meeting still lingered in the warmest corner of his mind. He was an awkward teenager, too shy to fit in or mingle when he moved to Seoul. It was the first day of football practice. And Jungkook was momentarily paralyzed to the floor when he realized he had to change out of his uniform and into his practice clothes in front of a bunch of strangers.
None of the football jocks had paid him much attention when he entered. That didn't make it easy because of the curious glances he kept receiving. He had awkwardly stood waiting for them all to get out. Only that never happened. People kept coming and going into the locker room.
When two seniors approached him and asked why he hasn't changed yet, he was too afraid to state the reason. But Jimin or Taehyung never laughed at him or made fun of him like the others did. Jimin had looked at him for a brief moment before kindly explaining that there was no privacy in these locker rooms. He then told him to change before turning his back at him while he watched the door for others.
That small action went long way for Jungkook and he found himself shadowing the boys for the rest of the practice. Soon, they had included him in their circle, protecting him from the other jocks or bullies.
They stuck together even when Jimin came out as gay. It never changed the way Jungkook looked at him, though he wasn't sure of his sexuality then. The youngest knew he liked his hyung more than as a friend. When Jimin initiated something on that prom party, Jungkook was only glad to follow through.
An involuntary shiver ran through his spine at the thought of someone hurting Jimin. Why would anyone do that? Jungkook didn't remember a time Jimin did something that would warrant an enemy like that. He was too good for the world. That was what he always thought about him until those photos and videos came along.
Now that Jungkook thought about that, he wasn't sure anymore. He would like to think that incident never happened and move on. He inhaled Jimin's calming citrusy scent and closed his eyes again. He had avoided work all day. Fortunately, he had cleared most of his schedule for the meeting with Hoseok. So, he would worry about the rest tomorrow.
However, there was one thing that nagged his mind. His father must have already found about Hoseok's presence in the office and would want to know why the JH Inc. CEO visited him. He nibbled at his lip as he thought of a suitable response.
Ugh!
Why did it matter to his father anyway? That man never appreciated anything he did. He barely uttered a word when he brought in a big investor recently. Jungkook had put up with his antics for years. Now that he had found Jimin again, he realized he was really at the crossroads. It was time to make his move.
As much as it unsettled him and made him anxious, just having Jimin in his arms again settled his nerves. Even if he lost everything, he'd still have Jimin. Wouldn't he?
Katy earlier said Jimin knew about the past though he didn't remember anything. The eldest let him kiss him even after knowing that. That should mean he still had a chance, right?
Perhaps, he could show his hyung how much he loved him. Yes. He would do anything to make Jimin fall in love with him again. Fuck memory loss. He did it once. He could do it again as long as Jimin gave him a chance.

Alvira threw the empty Styrofoam cup into the trashcan. It was close to seven in the evening. She still had an hour before she could call it a day.
Earlier in the afternoon, Alvira had watched her best friend emotionally shutting down and immersing herself at work. Katy stayed away from Jimin's room because of Hoseok. She switched the job with a nurse from emergency ward and refused to come for lunch at their usual time claiming they had an emergency.
Katy was stronger, but still emotionally fragile. It was a side she never showed to the others. Alvira and Portia knew, Jimin knew an extent from the day when she had an emotional breakdown in the mall after her encounter with her ex. Oh, how much Alvira hated that man.
She sighed as she sat grumpily at the nurse's station. It was a slow day, nothing much to do. Portia was nowhere to be seen as expected. Of course, she'd be hiding in a hole somewhere or in Room 207 since her Jinnie showed up to Jimin's room after his shift. She huffed in annoyance, wondering why both her friends behaved like this. Can they just pick the courage to accept the affection from the men who liked them for once?
Alvie was a lone wolf for most of her life. As an only child her early life was not much fun. It was boring and normal. Then she met Katy and Portia in the college. They shared the same room and soon became friends. With them came life's most adventurous ride. She'd watched both of them falling in and out of love.
Both Portia and Katy's families weren't much supportive. Katy's parents disowned her when her relationship with Dong-gi fell apart. They even had the audacity to blame her for not being able to be a good girlfriend to the bastard. They only cared for the money and reputation the marriage would bring. Alvira thought Dong-gi planned everything from the beginning. He purposefully trapped Katy in his love maze because he thought she'd be the wife his parents wanted him to have. He didn't expect her to become brave and call it quits. It was a huge blow to his ego and the fool still couldn't let go.
Portia has had the most stressful relationship. Her family though not cold hearted like Katy's weren't any better. When her ex began stalking they were more worried for her younger siblings than her. Her mother asked her to move out for the sake of their siblings and the slowly the communications reduced. They wished for her birthdays and Christmas. When her sister got married a few months ago, they informed her about the event, but there was no invite. Her cheerful friend had gotten drunk and ranted all night.
From betrayal to breakup and then stalking to physical abuse, Alvira had seen it all. They had come a long way from all of that. Moved to the capital to start fresh, even went as far as to change names and using it only for official purposes.
Alvie often claimed she experienced the pain of love and breakups through her friend's relationships. If one thing she learned, it was to never trust men and the words that came out their mouth. It wasn't like she didn't like men at all. She just hated the idea of love and the complications associated with it.
With nothing much to do, she took the book she always kept in her draw and started reading. She looked up when she sensed someone approaching her, a smile curved her lips upon seeing Hoseok.
"Hey," she greeted him.
"Hey." He grinned as he came to lean over the counter. "She's hiding again?"
Alvie shrugged in response.
Hoseok chuckled under his breath. He knew her best friend well. "Is she okay?"
Alvie shook her head, slouching in her seat. When she initially figured Hoseok's interest in her friend she had confronted him and he'd said that he only had best interests at heart. However, Katy's insecurity had led them nowhere. She couldn't tell him why Katy avoided him. It was her secret to tell. But she definitely aimed to melt some ice and form a bridge between the two.
Alvie nodded. "She doesn't think and does things when she's furious."
He nodded. "I can see that."
Alvie couldn't say what was in his mind. His eyes grew distant as he looked outside through the window behind her. She sighed, closing the book and putting it back inside the draw.
She couldn't wait to go home.

Portia was heading back to her ward after briefly visiting Katy and forcing her to eat a croissant when she saw the woman. Fury licked her veins as she halted in her track. What the fuck is she doing here?
She pulled her phone outside and hurried upstairs, using the staff elevator when she saw the woman moving from the reception. The hospital allowed them to keep their phones on their person, muted that was. Using them during their break time was allowed. Good thing she was on her break.
Portia: I saw Eunji in the reception. She's coming up.
She quickly fired a text to Taehyung and prayed he saw it before rushing out of the elevator at her desired floor. Alvie perked up, sensing the urgency as Hoseok frowned.
"Both of you go to Jimin's room and stay there." She lifted a hand and stopped them before they opened their mouth. "Don't ask anything. Go," she urged and breathed in relief when they hurried without further questions.
Portia took Alvie's spot and inhaled deeply. She pulled her glasses from the draw, not that she needed them, but she used them when she wanted to feel confident. They sort of wrapped her with a sense of security and now she needed every fibre of strength to stay cool and not lash out.
Not a minute later, the elevator dinged and the said woman walked out with a bouquet of flowers. Dressed in black skinny jeans, flowing crop top and heels she definitely stuck out like a sore thumb.
Portia forced a smile, slipping on her professional mask. "Is there something I can help you with, Miss?" she asked politely when Eunji stopped in front of her desk.
"Oh, yes." Eunji licked her red-matted lips. "I'm here to visit Mr. Park. He was admitted here this morning after a minor accident."
"I think you got the wrong floor miss," Portia said, not letting her anger get the best out of her. "The floor you should be looking for is number three. This is floor seven meant for older patients associated with Dementia and the likes of it."
Eunji frowned. "Oh, I was told he was in this floor." She looked down before meeting Portia's gaze again. "Room 705, Park Jimin, yes, that's what they told me."
"Park Jimin?" Portia forced a smile. "Oh, you're then mistaken, Miss. He's one of the volunteers at this wing. He works as a caregiver for the older patients during weekends." She looked at the calendar at her table. "It's only Monday."
"Oh...I...um..."
"Why don't you try calling him?" Portia offered a smile. "Also, don't bring real flowers next time. Few of our patients are allergic to flowers. We can't risk them falling sick because of this."
"Oh, yeah, sure. Thanks then." Eunji's face fell, but she collected herself soon before pivoting on her heels and walk away.
A scowl marred Portia's features. How the hell did she know Park Jimin met with an accident today?
Forgot to tell you something. Please feel free to replace your name instead of Katy, Portia or Alvie. I thought of putting y/n, but it would be too confusing since there are three girls and you won't know which y/n is dating with BTS member. Yeah, so feel free to guess.
Until we meet again...💜💜💜
