Chapter 24

It was another weekend and another party. Jungkook couldn't comprehend how he let the old man convince him to attend this one. His father had a way of manipulating him to do things and this was no different. He leaned over the high table, sweeping his gaze across the party hall —always the same, nothing new.

The trip to Paris was extremely good, mostly because he had the two most important people with him. They had explored the city on Sunday. Despite Taehyung's sickness, he kept insisting that he wanted to go out and they did just that. Nothing extravagant —just three friends hitting the streets like the old days. Something had shifted between him and Jimin that night. They had grown closer and for some reason, Jimin went along without question.

Jungkook often wondered if Jimin suspected anything or remembered their time together. He caught the eldest lost in thoughts and sometimes shaking his head while talking to himself. As much as he wanted Jimin to remember him, Jungkook also didn't want that to happen because of the pain associated with it.

He had already put the past behind them and moved on. Sure, the betrayal hurt a lot and it was a touchy subject, but Jungkook realized he couldn't live without Jimin. The eldest had changed and he didn't think it was fair to hold him accountable for something he didn't remember anymore. The fear and insecurity were still there. But —

Jungkook's blood boiled at the sight of her. His grip on the drink tightened as she approached him with a seductive sway of her hip.

"Mr. Jeon," she purred. "What a surprise?"

Jungkook forced a smile. "Eunji."

"So you know me," she smirked. "What are you doing here alone?"

He gritted his teeth as he glared at his nightmare. The woman had stolen his boyfriend once. The person he hated the most. Someone he never wanted to meet.

He was about to answer when her gaze jumped behind him and widened a little. Jungkook looked back and a wave of fury hit him.

"J-Jimin..." Eunji whispered.

Jimin casually walked to them with two drinks in his hand.

"Your drink," he said to Jungkook as he slid the glass of whiskey toward him.

"Hey," Eunji breathed and Jungkook swore he saw a strange sparkle in her eyes.

Jimin cocked his head to the side. "Hello."

"It's been too long." Eunji put a hand on Jimin's.

Jimin lifted a brow with a frown as Jungkook seethed. It was too much. It took every bit of his restraint not to storm off the place.

"Do I know you?"

Jungkook straightened at Jimin's question. An involuntary smirk replaced his scowl.

Eunji looked taken back but soon replaced it with fake laughter. Jimin just stood staring at her.

"You're funny, Jimin. How about a dance?"

Jimin shook his head. "Oh, sorry. I'm not good at dancing."

"Liar," she grabbed his hand in a firm grip just as the song changed. "Come on, I love this song." She took the mocktail from his hand and placed it on the high table.

"I don't think it's a good idea."

But she had already dragged him to the dance floor. Jungkook balled his fists and closed his eyes forcing himself to take a breath. The scene was like a Déjà vu. Her hands were all over Jimin. He watched bitterly as he downed the whiskey. Somethings never change.

Parties weren't Jungkook's thing. He hated loud places. Also, he barely got to spend time with Jimin as he was working even on weekends and Jungkook was busy with his academics. Today was one of the rarest days off for Jimin, but his boss had ruined the fun by inviting him to a party she hosted.

Jungkook hugged his boyfriend from behind. "You sure you don't want to skip the party?" Jungkook whined for the umpteenth time as he grazed Jimin's ears. They were at the elevator alone. The youngest wanted nothing more than to pin the eldest to the wall and take him then and there. It had been too long.

Jimin chuckled. "Jungkook-ah, she's my boss. I can't skip this."

He pouted. "You're always busy. Why don't you love me more?"

Jimin turned around in his arms to loop his hands around Jungkook's neck. "One hour. Then we can skip this party and go to our place," he whispered as he closed the distance to peck his lips.

Jungkook used the chance to deepen the kiss. He barely got a taste before the elevator opened with a ding.

"Jimin!"

Jungkook cringed at the high-pitch sound of Jimin's boss.

"Eunji!" Jimin left his embrace and stepped out of the elevator to hug Eunji.

Jungkook bit the pang of jealousy as he moved closer.

"You're late."

"Sorry, we're here now." Jimin turned to Jungkook. "Eunji, this is my boyfriend, Jungkook."

"Oh," her smile didn't reach her eyes. "Nice to meet you, Jungkook."

"Likewise." He shook the extended hand with a small smile.

Half an hour into the party Jungkook decided he didn't like Eunji. The woman was way too touchy with his oblivious boyfriend. She would laugh out loud and used the chance to fall on Jimin whenever he said something funny.

"Can we leave?"

"It's not even thirty minutes," Jimin hissed under his breath.

"I don't like that woman."

Jimin had simply smiled with a shake of his head before nudging his side. "Is someone jealous?"

"Where you are concerned, yes," he deadpanned as he locked his gaze with Jimin.

His boyfriend licked his lips. "I have my eyes only for you." He moved closer, cupping the side of his face. "Thirty more minutes, okay? Then we can leave."

He wanted to protest, throw a tantrum, and drag Jimin out of there. The youngest could never say no to his lover, especially when he used that soft tone with those twinkling eyes. His shoulders slumped. "Thirty minutes," he agreed with a scowl only to realize how wrong it was.

Jimin had pulled Jungkook onto the dance floor and he managed to relax a bit, focusing only on the chocolate brown eyes that looked at him with so much adoration. However, the peace didn't last long. Eunji had dragged him away and Jungkook ended up watching from the sidelines for the rest of the night.

His boyfriend had thrown him a few apologetic glances but that didn't make it any easier. That was the first time they ever fought.

Jungkook stopped the waiter, grabbing another glass, and chugged the liquid down this throat. It burned his throat but did nothing to ease the heaviness in his heart. I brought this to myself. His jaw tightened. If he had listened to Taehyung and shred that resume none of this would have happened. Pain sliced through his heart, ripping the old wounds open.

Eunji was too close to Jimin for his liking and it once again brought the memories he tried hard to erase from his mind. Unable to take it any longer, he stormed out of the place.

***

Jimin squirmed under her intimate gaze and touch. What the heck was wrong with this woman? They just met for god's sake.

He had known who Eunji was, but the way she spoke to him was suspicious. They never met before.

"You look sexy," she purred in his ear as they moved on the dance floor. "Sexier than the last time I saw you." Her fingers traced his taut abs over the shirt, leaving a trail of heat.

"Eunji..." He tried to pry her hands off him and put some distance between them. What was she talking about?

"Yes, Jimin."

"When did you last see me?"

She blinked, tilting her head to see him clearly. Then a mischievous smile spread across her lips. "Six years ago that night at the party." She ran a finger over his chest. "You forgot that already?"

Jimin frowned. Six years ago? A dull ache started at the base of his skull. He was about to ask her how she knew him when he noticed Jungkook wasn't in the place where he left him earlier. His eyes widened when a pair of soft hands slid down to grab his ass.

Fuck!

He moved away as if he touched the fire and forced a laugh. "Sorry, Eunji. But I gotta go."

"Wait..." she called. "We just met after all these years."

But Jimin didn't feel the same. The way she behaved stirred his suspicion. She acted as if they were well acquainted. There was something odd about the woman though. He couldn't exactly pinpoint what it was. She wasn't his type. No way in hell would he associate himself with someone like her.

"I realized I have something to do." He quickly backed away from the dance floor and rushed outside.

Ten minutes later, he found Jungkook in the rooftop garden, staring down at the busy city. One thing he figured about his boss recently was that he preferred to be alone when he was upset.

"Here you are." Jimin let out a relieved breath.

Jungkook didn't turn to face him. "How was the dance?"

"Horrible." Jimin chuckled. "It's already too late. Let's leave this place." He approached his boss.

Jungkook turned so quickly that it startled him. "It didn't look that way to me. You both looked cozy."

Jimin blinked. Did Jungkook look mad? He laughed hiding the way his heart skipped a beat. Why would Jungkook be mad?

"It was nothing."

Why did he feel the sudden urge to explain it to his boss? He was a grown man with his own life. Sure they were in a corporate party, but that didn't mean he can't have a dance. In his defense, Eunji dragged him to the dance floor, despite his protests. Jimin found himself saying, "It meant nothing." His voice had lowered, heart racing.

Jungkook stalked to him with that intense look on his honey brown eyes he couldn't decipher. A shiver ran down his spine.

"Did you enjoy the dance Jimin?"

"Huh?" Jimin laughed again with a shake of his head. He clasped his hand in the front as he averted his gaze. "Absolutely not. I told you that was..." He looked up and gasped to see Jungkook so close. "J-Jungkook..." Panic settled inside his heart. "She...she's not my type." He swallowed.

Jungkook tilted his head to the side. "Then who's your type?"

Jimin's heart hammered. What was happening? He hadn't dated anyone in these five years. Mostly because of, he was working his ass off and secondly because of his memory problem.

Before he could answer, the youngest had grabbed his waist, his fingers dug into his hips. Jimin's hands flew to his shoulders. Standing a few inches shorter, he had to crane his head to meet Jungkook's eyes.

"I asked you a question, Jimin. Who's your type?"

Women? The word stuck inside his mouth as he stared at his dangerously close boss. He was so close that he could smell his cologne. If he was into women, then why was he attracted to the youngest? He couldn't hide the flutter of his heart every time Jungkook looked at him. Jimin tried to laugh it off, but his heart continued to race. His gaze involuntarily slid to Jungkook's pinkish lips and he swallowed.

"You let her touch you." Jungkook clenched his jaw, his fury evident in the way he narrowed his gaze. But there was something more in that gaze. They were still close, hips touching and his hands were still on Jungkook's shoulder. The heat from Jungkook's body seeped through his clothes. It cinched his skin.

"It...It was nothing..." Jimin whispered, meaning every word. Eunji meant nothing. He didn't enjoy the moment. He should have as a man, but he couldn't. His thoughts were on a certain someone and he had ditched her on the dance floor even before the song ended.

"How ironic..." Jungkook's smiled bitterly. "Because it meant everything to me." With that, he closed the distance, crashed his lips to Jimin's. He slid one of his large hands to the back of his head, holding him in place.

Jimin stood frozen as his heart almost exploded at the contact. Jungkook's lips ignited something inside him. The kiss was anything, but gentle. It started possessive and bruising, but soon Jimin sensed the desperation and urgency. When Jungkook bit into his lower lip, Jimin opened his mouth or more like gasped because of the tingles it sent to every fibre of his body.

Jungkook's tongue delved into his mouth. His other hand traveled down to grab his firm ass. He tasted like whiskey and something more. Jimin clung desperately to Jungkook letting him claim his mouth. He couldn't remember the last time someone kissed him like this. Hell, he didn't remember if he ever kissed anyone for that matter.

The heady feeling weakened his knees and he leaned more to the youngest. Jungkook turned them around, backing him to the five-foot-high concrete railing. The hand holding his head left to slip underneath his shirt. The other hand continued to squeeze his ass at the same time he sucked his tongue. Jimin let out a throaty moan. His mind reeled.

Jungkook released his lips, taking the warmth away. "Who's your type, Jimin?"

Jimin blinked, fighting to catch his breath. His brain short-circuited the moment their lips connected. He couldn't think straight anymore. Who was his type? Well, he just knew he liked Jungkook.

As he watched, Jungkook's face tightened. He released him and stepped back. "Leave."

"Huh?"

"You heard me. Leave."

The sudden coldness sliced into his heart. "J-Jungkook..."

"Stay away from me, hyung." Jungkook stepped closer again. "You let her touch you." His intense gaze locked with Jimin's eyes. "You know how much I fucking hate it when you let others touch what's mine. If I had my way, I'll fuck you a hundred ways into tomorrow so you'll know who you belong to." He cupped the side of his face. "I hate you, Jimin-ah..." The youngest rested his forehead on his. "I hate you for making me feel this way."

With that Jungkook pushed him away, pivoted on his heels. Jimin's heart thundered in his chest as he watched the youngest disappear through the single door that led to the stairs. His knees buckled and he slid to the floor, his breath caught in his throat. Tears burned his eyes. What was that?

Until we meet again...💜💜💜

Happy birthday Jungkookie!
