Chapter 2
Jimin couldn't contain his excitement when he marched up to the huge building that had been his dream for the past three years. The receptionist asked him to go to the sixty-eighth floor. He hummed a soft tone as he got into the crowded elevator. A few caught his eyes and nodded politely. He knew no one, but the ID that hung from his belt hoop said who he was.
The crowd in the elevator thinned with each level and he was alone once it crossed sixty. He smoothed his crisp white shirt and adjusted his tie for the umpteenth time. He wore one of his finest suit to work being his first day. He wanted to make an impression. Why am I so nervous? It wasn't like this was his first job.
Jimin chuckled nervously as he ran a hand over his face. Jeon Jungkook, the young CEO had a notorious reputation in the business world. People feared him as much as they respected him. Jimin had always respected the youngest for being the top of the game at such a tender age. Jungkook took over his father's business empire when he was twenty-two and barely out of college. Within a year, the company had seen tremendous growth, becoming the leader in the healthcare technology and they kept going.
He couldn't contain the excitement that bubbled within his chest. He was finally going to meet the person, whom he had seen only on TV and newspaper. Though they worked in similar field Jimin has never met Jungkook in person. The elevator dinged, announcing the arrival of the designated floor. He checked his watch. He was thirty minutes early. He took a deep breath and stepped out.
The spacious, sophisticated office astounded him. As expected, the CEO had a full floor to himself with a great view of the city. His boots echoed across the pristine marble floor. He approached the receptionist.
"Hi, I'm Park Jimin," he introduced with a smile.
"I'm Sang Byeol." The beautiful female who appeared to be in her late twenties returned his smile. "You're early." She glanced at her watch and stood. "Good thing. Mr. Jeon's first meeting is in an hour. That should give you enough time to familiarize with the tasks you have to do today."
Jimin nodded.
"I'll show you around. Come with me."
The next ten minutes, she showed him around the floor while giving him more details about Jungkook. How he preferred to work and what he preferred to eat. Because starting today it would be his job. He made a mental note of everything Byeol said as he stared at the small notebook in his hand. The previous manager had retired and left him a notebook with detailed instructions on how to handle his duties. He mentally thanked the unknown woman as he followed Byeol into a cabin next to the big one that said CEO in sparkling gold letters.
Wow. His office was two-third size of his rented apartment and took his breath away. He didn't let his surprise show in his face. The floor offered a killer view of the magnificent city below. A simple yet huge cherry wood table sat at the center of the room with a twenty-seven inch apple screen. Perfect.
Jungkook hadn't arrived yet. So he had enough time to organize his tasks for the day. Later, he would be meeting the heads of various departments to introduce himself.
As soon as Byeol left the room, he turned to his computer and got to work, memorizing Jungkook's schedule for the day.

The Monday morning arrived with a headache that had Jungkook snapping and honking at the drivers while Taehyung stayed silent at the passenger seat.
When they arrived at the office building, Jungkook held his car keys in a tight grip as he stepped out of the elevator. Tae followed close behind. Their shoulders were stiff with tension. He had a really busy day ahead and regretted his decision to let Jimin in. He wasn't ready to face him yet. What have he done?
Byeol stood from her seat and bowed. "Good morning, Mr. Jeon."
"Is the new recruit in?" he asked with a casual lift of his right brow.
"Yes, sir. He came early."
He averted his face to hide the grimace. "Send him in." He walked past her.
"Jungkook-ah..." Taehyung called in a hesitant tone once they were in. "I'm not ready to face him."
"Why?" Jungkook threw an irritated glance at his friend. "You're not the one he cheated on." He didn't mean to snap, but he couldn't help it.
Taehyung sighed. "You know what I mean."
Jungkook nodded. "If there is anyone that should be afraid, it is him." His tone hardened. When he prepared the employee contract, he made it so special that Jimin would be trapped with Jeon Corporation for the next three years with no way out. I've got this.
Just as he took his seat, a knock caught his attention. His breath hitched as he clutched his chair handle in a tight grip.
A platinum blonde stepped inside with a bright smile on his face. He wore a crisp white shirt and black slacks. The slim fitted suit jacket accentuated his shoulders and thin waist line. A black tie was secured to his neck and his soft hair was deeply parted to the side, revealing his forehead. "Good morning, Mr. Jeon, Mr. Kim." He bowed. "I'm Park Jimin, your personal manager. Nice to meet you."
Jungkook's breath hitched, caught in his throat and stuttered out. Jimin looked nothing like the man they knew before. Gone was his chubby cheeks and mischievous smile. His hair was now blonde and he looked... sexier. His jawline had sharpened giving his facial features a sensual edge. And what was with his sound? It had lost that thick edge he often spoke with and had softened to the point it reminded him of their personal moments––the only time when Jimin used that tone.
Jungkook gulped. What the fuck Jungkook? He couldn't avert his gaze. Despite the pep talk he had with himself this morning, he found himself doing the opposite. It was just like the day he met him for the first time twelve years ago as a fifteen-year-old. He was staring.
"Nice to meet you, Jimin." Taehyung broke out of his trance first. "...Ah, sorry, Mr. Park."
"Jimin is fine." He smiled before shifting his gaze to the boss. "Your first meeting is in fifteen minutes. I have everything ready. Would you like to eat or drink something before we leave?"
Jungkook stared at him in disbelief. Jimin was still smiling. The silver hoops in his ears caught his attention. Did he add two more? There was no shock in his face. He didn't even blink as he spoke. He must be really a good actor. Jungkook thought bitterly as he stood. "Coffee. I need coffee," he managed to say in a thick voice with no emotion.
If Jimin caught the disdain in Jungkook's voice, he didn't show. "Sure, I'll be right back." Jimin turned and left while Jungkook turned to Taehyung.
"What the hell was that?" Taehyung met his gaze with wide eyes.
How can someone be this good with acting?
Jungkook frowned.
"Jungkook-ah..." Taehyung shook him. "Are you alright?"
He shook his friend. "He...he's different." He clenched his fists. How could Jimin be so normal? There was no panic or nervousness. Did he feel nothing at all? Jungkook's heart was still beating harder within his chest. Why does that matter anyway? If he had felt anything for me, he wouldn't have cheated.
"Listen, we don't have time for this now. We will talk later, okay?"
Jungkook nodded as someone rapped on the door.
"Act cool." With that, Taehyung pulled his phone out and went to occupy an empty chair.
Easy for you to say. He almost snapped but bit his tongue. Tae was Jimin's friend since childhood. It must hurt a lot and Tae was very good at hiding his emotions. Jungkook hurried to his seat.

The rest of the day went without a hitch. Jungkook attended one meeting after the other. The thoughts of Jimin had completely slipped off his mind. Well, he was always on edge with Jimin being so close to him but work had kept his thoughts from straying away.
He stretched his neck, hearing the satisfying crack. Meetings always drained his energy. Fortunately, he had Taehyung to shoulder some of his responsibilities. Hiring him was one of the best decisions he ever made.
Jungkook reclined in his chair and closed his eyes. The refreshing aroma of coffee caused him to sit straight. Jimin placed the steaming cup of coffee with a plate of chocolate cookies on the table. When their eyes met, Jimin just smiled and went to sit on the adjacent chair focusing on his MacBook. They were still in the conference room.
The thoughts from morning suddenly came crashing into his mind. He sipped the coffee as he regarded the elder. Jimin's hands flew on the keyboard with ease, eyes narrowed in concentration. He wore contacts now instead of the wire-framed glasses he preferred to wear. The grey contacts really suited his blonde look.
Jungkook's head was pounding. Why did Jimin react as if he was meeting them for the first time? Even as he stared at him, the elder didn't even sneak a glance. What was his deal? Jungkook's irritation flared. How was he supposed to confront Jimin when he acted as if they were strangers?
Jungkook's phone dinged as if on cue. He checked the notification to see several emails that reminded him, he hadn't checked his email since morning.
Sure enough, there were many emails from Jimin. Seeing his name on his screen brought a sense of nostalgia, which he tried hard to push away. He clenched his jaw as he opened one email. An involuntary smile crept onto his lips upon seeing the meeting notes––so detailed and to the point. He nodded to himself as his thoughts raced.
Jimin stood from his seat, shutting his laptop and securing it in his grip. "Mr. Jeon, you have an early zoom meeting at seven in the morning tomorrow. I have already set a reminder on your phone. Is there anything else you want me to do before I leave?"
Phone? Jungkook frowned for a moment realizing he used two phones. As his personal manager, of course Jimin had access to the cell phone he used for work. He eyed his old friend again. Jimin looked at him as if they had no past together.
How can you maintain a straight face while talking to me? He suppressed the urge to shake him and yell at his face. Instead, he just gave him a nod, averting his gaze. What game are you playing now?
He almost asked aloud but another voice interrupted them.
"Any plans for the evening?" Taehyung poked his head through the door.
Jungkook jumped to his feet, grabbing the phone. "No. I'm heading home."
He left the room ignoring Jimin only to realize he had unintentionally responded to him while he was actually answering his friend.
What the hell did you get yourself into Jungkook?
Jimin with blonde hair is really something.
I love the Maknae line friendship. They're are chaotic and funloving.
What is your favorite BTS song at the moment?
Until next time...💜💜💜
