Chapter 18

"Let's burn some calories."

Portia had dragged them to the dance floor as soon as they arrived. They took the least crowded area of the floor, forming a small circle as they danced to their heart's content. Jimin learned he loved to dance and was pretty good at it. The crowd only increased with time, pushing them in a tight circle.

Jimin learned he loved to dance and was pretty good at it. The crowd only increased with time, pushing them in a tight circle.

"I'm thirsty!" Portia announced over the music. "I'll get something for us to drink."

"I'll go with her." Alvira followed.

Someone pushed into Jimin and he lost Katy for a moment. When he found her a moment later, she was being cornered by a man who towered over her. She sported an annoyed expression hands folded across her chest.

"No," Jimin heard her saying as he pushed the patrons away to reach her.

"Ah, come on, sweetheart. Let's have some fun. It'll be more fun," the man slurred.

Jimin slid his hands around her waist, pulling her back flush against his chest. Katy tensed but relaxed as soon as she saw who it was. "Do we have a problem?" he asked, resting his chin on her right shoulder, his narrowed gaze challenging the man with a lifted brow.

"O-oh, right." The man chuckled, backing away with his arms in a surrendering motion. "It was worth a try," he said backing up and turning away from them.

Katy snorted, "Pig." They didn't part right away. They swayed to the music with Katy giggling at his display of protectiveness. "All men are pigs, except you," she corrected before turning herself in his arms and wrapping her arms around his neck. "You're the only man I'll let anywhere within ten feet of my person."

Jimin snickered. "I'm honored."

"You should be." Her gaze darted behind him and he noticed a seductive smile lifting the corners of her lips. "Don't turn..." She met his gaze. "But I think your super-hot boss is drilling holes in my head, probably thinking of different ways to kill me right now.

"What?" Jimin frowned.

"Nine'o clock, next to the bar. He's with that cutie pie."

Jimin rolled his eyes at the description. He casually danced with her, turning them slowly and flicked his glance finding them right away. Jungkook had his hands deep inside his pocket, his outfit of choice matching exactly with Jimin as he stood there with an unreadable expression on his face.

Portia and Alvira returned with their drinks as if on cue. Whiskey on rocks for the former and Mock tails for the latter.

"Where's my drink?" Katy asked, arms still around Jimin.

"Oops, we forgot." Portia pouted. "I'll go get it."

"No." Katy stopped her. "I'll go." She released Jimin with a smirk.

"Don't," Jimin warned, grabbing her waist. The mischievous smirk screamed her intention to him. "Don't even think about it."

"What? I'm just going for a drink." She pried his hands off and stepped back, her grin growing wider and to his horror, she pivoted on her heels and marched toward the bar.

Jungkook and the man she identified as Taehyung had their backs turned to her as they perched on the barstool. Katy couldn't help the mischievous smile that tugged at her lips. The moment she saw Jungkook in the club she knew what she had to do.

After all, she was Jimin's caretaker while he was in the hospital with access to all his records. She knew exactly who this man was. The jealousy and anger in his eyes was something she enjoyed. She shouldn't have goaded the man like that, but Jimin had played along. As much as Jimin refused to acknowledge it, she knew Jimin was pleased by her actions.

He must have thought this would demotivate Jungkook if he saw him with a woman. However, Jimin wouldn't have seen it coming. Katy chuckled to herself as she approached the men. She squeezed right into the space between them and tapped for the bartender. In her peripheral vision, Jungkook tensed.

"Were you stalking him?" she asked. The bartender arrived with their drinks, his questioning gaze falling pointedly at her. "Two mocktails." She leaned on the counter crossing her legs at the ankle.

"Huh!"

"Jimin." She turned her head to face Jungkook. "Were you stalking him?"

"What? No. I...I didn't." Jungkook's eyes widened as he looked behind her to his friend.

"This is a public place, Ms...um..."

"Katy." She extended a hand for them to shake. "I know who you are."

"We're not stalking him. This is our usual place," Taehyung said, sipping his beer nonchalantly. Though his attitude said I-don't-care, he was stiff with his hand tight around the bottle.

"Jiminie is like a brother to me," she said hoping to ease some tension. "I work at St. Mary's. You must have already met Portia. I was there when you brought Jimin the other day."

Jungkook relaxed visibly, his attention fully on her. "I...um..."

"I know what you were to Jimin." Her Mocktails arrived. She grabbed a drink––one in each hand. "You should dance with us," she suggested. "Jimin loves to dance."

"I'm not sure if it's a good idea." Jungkook licked his lower lip, throwing an uncomfortable glance at his friend.

"Relax, dude. It's just a dance and it's a public space. Trust me on this one, will you?" She jerked her head to the dance floor. "Is he not worth the risk?"

"He's worth everything." Came Jungkook's immediate response.

Katy snickered under her breath. "That's what I thought. Come on, then."

Jungkook would be lying if he wasn't shocked in the least. Taehyung had dragged him to their usual hangout place for a drink. What he didn't expect to find was Jimin wrapped in a woman's arms.

He felt the stab in his heart and it took a moment to compose himself. Taehyung had stopped him from storming out of the place. "Jungkook-ah, you knew you this was never meant to be easy."

"I don't think I can do this. Let go." He tugged at the strong grip in his elbow.

"No. I don't care who that woman is. I won't let you give up easily," Taehyung hissed. "We came here for a drink and we are having that drink."

Jungkook didn't stop him this time. His mind was in turmoil when the same woman stepped between them with a broad smile. Their conversation had hit off with a hint of animosity, but the moment she mentioned Jimin was like a brother to her, Jungkook felt a weight lifting off his shoulder.

Taehyung had given him an encouraging smile and Jungkook followed her to the dance floor, eyes fixated on Jimin who was now dancing with two other women. He recognized one, Portia.

"Hi," Portia beamed as they joined their small group. "What a surprise! Nice of you to join us, Jungkook-ssi."

"Likewise," he said, his nerves in haywire. The women all wore a black knee-length dress, simple but looking at their best. What eased his mind was the friendly aura they radiated.

"I'm Taehyung." He extended his hand to shake with each of them.

Jimin though looked taken back at first, just smiled, mostly sticking to Katy's side.

"I'm Alvira," the third one called over the music.

The music changed to something upbeat, causing the women to squeal saying it was their favorite. Jungkook saw the fond smile on Jimin's face as he joined them. The atmosphere changed considerably. Taehyung had easily mingled, swaying to the music and Jungkook found himself moving to the rhythm.

Several songs later, Jungkook realized he was having fun for the first time in years. The three women were full of fun. They paired up for some songs and danced in groups for the others. During one such moment, Katy had pushed him and Jimin together with a wink. Taehyung was paired with Portia and Katy had her hands around Alvira that left Jungkook and Jimin.

Jungkook swallowed the nervousness and extended his hand to Jimin, who pursed his lips but took his hand after a moment of hesitation. However, it was like the fates had been in a great mood that night. Someone bumped into Jimin, sending him more into Jungkook.

The song changed to a slow beat and the lighting dimmer. They were pressed to each other in the tight space. Jungkook wrapped his left hand around Jimin's waist, resting his palm on his lower back. He pushed his right hand deep inside his pant to avoid the temptation. Jimin had both his hands tentatively placed on Jungkook's hip.

It brought a surge of memories of nights they spend dancing, especially of their first dance in that after-party after a victorious football match––the one Jimin initiated. That night it had been Jimin who had him under his spell, it was his hand on Jungkook's lower back as Jungkook tentatively gripped the eldest. Still unsure of his feelings toward the eldest and only sixteen at the time, he was mesmerized by Jimin's eyes.

Jimin was a great dancer. When he was on the dance floor, a crowd often formed a circle to see him dance. Girls vied for his attention, they swamped him for their turns to dance with him, and Jimin being the good soul he was always entertained them.

Even that night, Jimin had owned the floor like he always had. Only he wasn't taking any dance requests. His eyes were locked with Jungkook and the youngest had felt as if his senses had heightened under his attention.

"Jungkookie, come let's dance."

"Hyung..." Jungkook had laughed nervously when Jimin dragged him to the crowded floor. The world around him faded as Jimin's hand snaked around his thin waist, holding him close. Heat rose to his cheeks and spread to his neck as he tried to decipher the intense look Jimin had been giving him. That night and every night after that Jimin danced only with Jungkook and of course Taehyung. He never had another in his arms until...that unfortunate night.

Jungkook swallowed the sudden emotion balled in his throat and tried to focus only on the warmed memories. He still remembered how Jimin's hand had discreetly slipped under his t-shirt, a finger tracing the bare skin on his waist making him shiver. He still remembered the first kiss they shared in the dark corridor of the school.

Jimin had dragged him out of the makeshift party hall before pushing him against the wall. He had stopped only for a second, silently asking for his permission. When Jungkook breathlessly nodded once, eyes wide with anticipation, Jimin had closed the distance and kissed him like he was the most precious thing in the world. His first kiss was soft and sensual––no tongue, just their lips moving against each other, their breathe mingling. Jimin had kissed him with all gentleness he could muster.

Even now, Jimin looked ethereal under the soft glow of lights with his platinum blonde hair. The eye makeup he had on highlighted the sharp features of his eyes. His plump lips were set in a thin line and he looked anywhere but at Jungkook. The young CEO ignored the clench of his heart and relished the warmth while it lasted. But when he sensed the discomfort radiating off Jimin, he released him immediately, stepping back though it killed him to do so.

Jungkook glanced around finding Taehyung pressed to his back. With a sigh, he tapped at his friend's shoulder signing that he wanted to switch pairs. Taehyung had thrown his hands around Jungkook's neck in an instant.

Two more songs later, he decided it was time to call it a night. The women also nodded quickly saying they were tired.

Jimin said nothing when they exited the club. The night's breeze was surprisingly chill compared to the heat during the day.

"That was fun. We should totally do this again," Portia exclaimed, slightly tipsy as Katy reached to steady her.

"Yep. Why don't we share our numbers?" Katy suggested, wiggling her eyebrows.

Jungkook saw Jimin shaking his head with a narrowed gaze, but Katy ignored him. Jungkook already liked her. She was like a woman on a mission with her agenda. She just pulled her phone from her purse and thrust it to Jungkook. "Just put your number here. I'll add us all to a group chat."

"I'd love that," Jungkook found himself saying and Taehyung winked at him.

"I had a great time tonight. You guys are really cool," Katy said. Alvira clung to her back, eyes half asleep. "We will get going then."

"Sure." Jungkook smiled. Jimin nodded curtly and followed Katy, his hands around Portia as he guided her to the car. "Jimin-ssi," Jungkook called.

"Huh?"

"Good night."

Jimin nodded once, a small smile stretched his lips. "Good night."

Then he was gone.

"That went well." Taehyung threw a hand around his shoulder and leaned to him. "Really really well."

"It did." Jungkook let out a contented sigh. "I'll book a taxi."

"Mhm..."

"Thanks for taking me out today."

Taehyung smiled. "All credits to Namjoon hyung."

"What?"

Taehyung pursed his lips, his expression changing immediately. "I have something to tell you."

"Hyung..."

"Not here, Jungkookie."

"Okay."

Until we meet again...💜💜💜
