Chapter 17

The words died in Jimin's throat at the sight of the disheveled male on the couch with a deep frown. He looked like hell. Jimin stood rooted in his spot on the doorway, taking in how Jungkook looked as any anger he felt a while ago ebbed.

"Mr. Jeon?" he called softly as he made his way inside. He had just spoken to Portia and she had said Jin had already cleared the bill, which he'd pay him later.

Jungkook's head whipped to him, doe-eyes widening as he jumped to his feet as he wrapped his strong arms around Jimin. "Hyung..." he breathed into his neck, holding him so tight that Jimin forgot to breathe for a moment. "You're okay? I thought...I thought something happened to you again and they took you somewhere." He released him, keeping him a breath away as he gave a once over.

Jimin tried to say something, but the concern in Jungkook's eyes and the sincerity in his voice rendered him speechless. When was the last time did he see so much worry in someone's eyes? All that was meant for him. Why did Jungkook care?

"I'm sorry, hyung. I'm so sorry," Jungkook said, his eyes widening as he removed his hands from Jimin's shoulder. "I won't drink again. It won't happen again. Nothing happened last night. N-nothing. I...I...just...that..."

"It's okay, Jungkook-ssi. We..." Jimin searched for the right words, failing again. "We should leave."

"Jungkook."

"Huh?"

"It's Jungkook to you," his boss said in a low voice. He looked down, fiddling with his threaded fingers, chewing at his lips.

Jimin wanted to kick himself for even being angry with the kid. He cursed at the thought. What was wrong with him? He didn't understand why he felt the sudden urge to comfort the youngest instead of chastising him for what he did. When Jungkook lifted his gaze, still looking lost Jimin's shoulders slumped. He blinked several times, trying to come up with something. Before he could say anything, someone tackled him from behind, sending him crashing into Jungkook's chest.

"Minnie!" The male behind him called, a high-pitched squeal that made Jimin wince, but he also sensed the relief that stirred something in him. "You scared the shit out of me, dude." Taehyung rested his head on Jimin's shoulder. "I'm so happy to have you back."

Jungkook's spicy scent––a mixture of cologne and sweat––hit him hard. Jimin turned his nose, involuntarily inhaling the heady scent that felt like home. Sandwiched between two males he met a couple of weeks ago, his face buried in Jungkook's chest, his world stopped spinning. It felt as if he knew them all his life yet so strange.

Jimin's hand rose, wrapping them around Jungkook's slim waist as he allowed himself to relish the sense of security blanketed him. Taehyung was rocking them side to side as if he'd done this a million times before. He felt his body relax further.

"Taehyungie..." Jimin whispered––the name slipped out before he could think if it was right to call him that.

"Mhm."

"I want to go home."

Taehyung released him. Jimin stepped back, blinking several times and shook his head once to clear his thoughts. He didn't dare to look at Jungkook as he turned to face the man behind him. Tae sported a boxy grin that took away any edge he had a minute before. The assurance that the smile offered was something Jimin couldn't fathom.

"Sure. Let's go." He stepped back. Jimin stood awkwardly, glancing at the men. And there was a moment as if both men realized something. A mask slid into Taehyung's face while Jungkook simply averted his gaze and clasped his hands in the front.

Jimin regarded their faces for a moment before letting out a sigh with a nod. He was no fool. There was no way one could build that sort of skinship with someone in just a few weeks. He had lost his memory not his intellectual.

"Don't leave me again."

"Missed you..."

"Are you really here?"

The unadulterated emotions of the youngest revealed in his intoxicated state was a dead giveaway. Even now, the way he looked at Jimin with a longing.

"I missed you."

"Minnie..."

"Hyung!"

Jin hyung wasn't a person who talked about Jimin's past with just anyone. And Jungkook wasn't a person who just threw himself at anyone. Byeol said he didn't even like to be touched. They could be the missing puzzle pieces to his memory. Deep down he had a feeling he couldn't pinpoint yet.

Now that he saw the youngest, he was sure of one thing. Their pasts were connected and for some reason, they were playing hide and seek. For now, he decided to follow Jin's advice as his determination solidified within him.

Despite the mounting frustration, Jimin decided to play along and go with the flow of life for the sake of his sanity. Twenty-three years of his life was erased just like that. What did he have to lose anyway?

The rest of the week had gone exceptionally well with Byeol expressing her concern for his health. It had created a stir in the Jeon building since he was rushed out in the ambulance, but once they saw he was well, it quieted down. Jungkook kept his conversations minimal while Taehyung was always engaging him in their conversations. Then again, work had been hectic with the approaching launch that had to be pushed earlier because Jungwoo-ssi thought so.

Jimin suppressed the urge to roll his eyes. It wasn't his place to judge the man that was Jungkook's father and their ultimate boss. But he firmly believed that man was purposefully making things difficult for Jungkook. The youngest had spent most of his day in the office because of the unexpected changes. Jimin was left to handle the itinerary and accommodations for then investors flying in for the event.

Thankfully, the Jeon building had a spacious conference hall that occupied the entire forty-fifth floor for events such as this. So he just canceled the booking they had with Hilton and moved the event to the Jeon's building.

Jimin looked forward to the Saturday dinner. He made plans to meet the bombshells in the Thai restaurant. It had been a while since he hung out with the girls. After food, they might hit a club and do a bit of dancing. It felt good to unwind a bit before the busiest week.

He had to go in on Sunday to work on the presentation and other couple of things with Jungkook and Taehyung. This product launch was one of the biggest launches in the history of Jeons.

His phone vibrated with a text.

Katy: Come down in 5 mins

Jimin: Ok

He secured the belt and slipped on his shoes before checking himself once in the mirror. His black ripped jeans, black v-neck t-shirt, and a black leather jacket suited well for the night out. Jimin quickly grabbed his keys and wallet before locking the door to his apartment.

A white Honda civic was already waiting for him in front of his modest apartment complex. "Jiminie!" They waved at him with excited smiles beckoning him to get in. He jogged to the car and slipped into the backseat.

"Hey, girls!" he chimed, their contagious excitement sucking him in. They looked great in their shimmery outfits Alvira had her hand up for a high five, which he returned, enthusiastically before turning to Portia and Katy. "It took you, girls forever," he complained.

"Work is kicking our asses." Portia expelled a loud breath and reclined in her seat. Jimin understood. Pulling fourteen to sixteen-hour shifts was no joke and they worked closely with the emergency ward that was always busy.

"It should get easier with more interns joining us this week. We can stop pulling double shifts for once," Katy said easing into the traffic.

"I'm so glad we're going out today. How long had it been?" Alvira whined beside him. "I can't remember the last time we went out together."

"Because we haven't gone out in a while pabo," Katy snorted. "So, how is your boss? That one is definitely an eye-candy." She met his gaze through the rearview mirror and he rolled his eyes in response.

"I'm not talking about him."

"Ah, why? We wanted details," Alvira pouted. "Come on, Jiminie. Give us something."

"There's nothing to give." He looked out of the window. "He's just a man I work for. Period."

"A very hot one for that matter," Katy snorted from the front seat. "Anyways, Jiminie when is your Hoseok hyung coming to Seoul?"

The other two burst out laughing.

Jimin grinned. Right. It almost slipped his mind that Katy had a crush on Hobi hyung. "Later this month," he said happy for the diversion. "Maybe I should plan a dinner once he's back. I'll invite Jin hyung too. What do you say?"

Portia who was drinking from her water bottle sputtered all over. "What?"

Alvira laughed, clapping her hands. "It's just dinner, Portia."

"No way. Are you even serious?"

"I'm sure Hobi hyung will be happy to see you, Katy," Jimin teased, enjoying the way her cheeks reddened at the mere mention of his hyung.

"And maybe Portia will grow some balls to say something to Jinnie," Alvira said.

"Shut up!" Portia hissed. "I think I'll pass."

"Yeah, me too," Katy piped in.

"Chickening out already? Aww...Come on girls. It will be fun," Jimin smiled.

"Only if you invite that hot boss of yours." Katy caught his eyes through the rearview mirror with a smirk.

"What about me? I'll be the only one without date," Alvira jumped into the conversation. "It's so unfair that I don't even have a man to crush on. You girls took all the hot ones."

"Oh, I might know someone," Portia quipped.

Alvira turned pink. "Don't even go there."

"Am I missing something?" Jimin tilted his head at Alvira with a lopsided grin.

"Yep. You missed the legendary moment when our little Alvie ran into the hot brother of the world wide handsome, tripped him, and gave him a concussion."

"Hey!" Alvira moved to the edge of the seat with a threatening growl. "It was his mistake. I was in a hurry to grab blood bags and he got in the way."

Portia and Katy ignored her outburst and continued to laugh. "You should have seen them Jiminie. Namjoon-ssi was trying to get up, our Alvie here slipped again and hit his nose. Poor thing had to rest for an hour with an ice pack after that."

"That was one time," Alvira huffed.

"One time?" Portia turned one-eighty degrees in her seat, twisting her upper torso to pin Alvira with her gaze. "I heard you guys created quite a hustle in the cafeteria yesterday."

"I'm not talking about it."

"What did she do?" Jimin asked, doubling with laughter.

Alvira hit his arm. "Your question should be what he did. I was minding my own business when he tripped out of nothing and showered me with his iced Americano."

"And proceeded to pat her dry with paper towels," Katy added.

"Ugh! Stop it!"

Jimin wasn't sure if the redness on Alvie's face was because of the red light that happens to fall on her face or due to embarrassment. It was due to both he decided.

"His hands were all over her." Portia pretended to pat Katy all over and Jimin couldn't hold it in anymore. He would have slipped out of the seat if it wasn't for the seat belt holding him in place. His eyes closed as he fell sideways on the seat beside Alvira who was huffing in annoyance.

"You girls are making it worse," Alvira grumbled, sinking further into her sitting with her arms folded across her chest.

"Just stating the facts." The women shrugged while Jimin continued to laugh.

As the women continued to bicker, Jimin realized how much he missed their light-hearted banters. He met them for the first time when he opened his eyes in the hospital after being in a coma for close to eight months. They were hovering above him with wide smiles and teary eyes.

The weeks followed after were particularly hard with him constantly frustrated with his lack of memory. They had taken turns and kept him company throughout the day despite their hectic work. There were days when they had slept in the hospital after their shifts because he needed them. He reclined in his seat, resting his head in the backrest. They had seen the worst of him and it had only brought them closer over the years.

They played a great role in bringing him back to the society, patiently teaching him the basic things he forgot, holding his hands during the nights he had trouble sleeping, hugging him when he had his emotional meltdowns––they've seen it all.

"We're here," Katy announced, pulling him out of his thoughts. Jimin hopped out of the vehicle with a huge smile. It was going to be a great night.

Until we meet again...💜💜💜

The men are so dangerous to our hearts.
