Chapter 10
When Jimin stepped out of the taxi that pulled into the driveway of Seokjin's home, he felt at peace. Jin lived in a luxurious villa in Gangnam, one of the expensive neighborhoods, but the best.
Jimin didn't know what to name the relationship he had with his doctor, but it was definitely more than just a doctor and patient relationship. Though he wasn't as close as Hoseok, he treated Jimin like his younger brother.
With Hoseok gone for the majority of the year, Seokjin aka Jin was the only person Jimin could rely on for emotional support and he was always there when he needed them. It all started when Jimin's panic attack struck him on a rainy night two years ago. Not knowing whom to call for help, Jimin had managed to send text SOS to Jin.
What he did not expect was for the kind doctor to rush to his apartment at midnight. Jin had stayed the night while he helped Jimin through one of the worst nights in his life. It was one of the triggers Jimin had. Long story short, now Jimin had Jin on his speed dial and Jin had a key to Jimin's apartment.
Usually, Hoseok stayed with him during those days. When he was out of the hospital, Hoseok had given him a place for him to stay and helped him back to his feet. When Hoseok's company expansion overseas two years ago, the business thrived demanding most of his attention and now he lived in the States.
Speaking of which, Hoseok hadn't texted him since Friday. Jimin quickly pulled his phone out as he rang the bell and typed a text.
Jimin: Busy?
The door opened, revealing the most handsome face on the planet. Well, not literally but his doctor hyung was definitely the man that made millions of hearts race by just existing.
"Jimin-ah..." Jin threw his arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug and clapping behind his back. He wore white long-sleeved FILA t-shirt with black jeans, his hair parted to the side with his forehead on display, and looked ready to kill the runway. Jimin had no doubt he'd give those models run for their money if he tried. His personal Instagram flooded with millions of followers and he did love to flaunt his handsomeness.
"Hyung, what's your secret? You seem to age backward." Jimin returned the hug, relaxing further as he stepped into the foyer and removed his shoes.
"Aish...you say that every time we meet."
"It's the truth." He chuckled and hummed when he caught the whiff of the delicious aroma. "Hm... Smells so good." Jimin's mouth watered.
"It's a beef bulgogi." Jin led him to his spacious kitchen with cream walls and cherry wood cabinets. "Coke or Sprite?"
"Coke please."
Jin turned to the refrigerator, his broad shoulders flexing when someone hollered from the hall.
"Hyung! I can't find my glasses."
"It's probably on your head!" Jin fired back.
"Ah...Fuck!" The loud crash and the curse came at the same time.
"Yah! What did you break this time." Jin ran out of the kitchen and Jimin followed.
A handsome man crouched on the floor with his lips tightly pursed. His brown hair looked like he ran his hand through them a few times and called it a day. He wore blue ripped jeans with black short-sleeved V neck t-shirt. His handsome face scrunched as he accessed the damage on the floor as if he was analyzing a crime scene. A flower vase or what was left of it broken at his feet.
"This brat really..." Jin walked to the man and crouched beside him. He slapped the man's hand away when he tried to pick the broken pieces. "Step back and let hyung do the cleaning." But his voice, even more, softened as he checked the man. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
"No, hyung. I'm sorry."
"Never mind." Jin stood seeing Jimin staring them with interest. "Ah, Jimin-ah, this is little brother, Namjoon. He has his own business and mostly lives with our parents in Itaewon." He turned to his brother. "Namjoon-ah, this is Park Jimin, a friend more like a dongsaeng. He's younger than you too."
Jimin smiled warmly as he finally met the clumsy brother Jin often whined about and he had the most cutest smile.
Namjoon's eyes crinkled with a warm smile when their gazes locked. "Hi," he beamed as he approached Jimin. "Call me Namjoon or hyung."
"You can call me Jimin." Jimin took the extended hand in a firm shake. Namjoon's hand was much bigger than his was and seemed to swallow his palm. "Nice to meet you, hyung."
Namjoon's dimples flashed as he adjusted the black-rimmed glasses with his index finger. Like Jin, this man too had a friendly, welcoming personality Jimin liked. "What do you do, Jimin?"
"I work for Jeon Corporation." Jimin tilted his head as he released Namjoon's large hand. "Hyung said you have a business. What is that you do, may I ask?"
"Of course..." Namjoon patted his jeans pocket and produced his wallet before plucking a business card. "I have a security firm, one of the best. But you already know that," he said his pride evident in his voice.
"Don't stand there. Come to the kitchen." Jin had managed to clean the mess Namjoon made and urged them to the kitchen.
RM Security Group it read. Jimin glanced up with a broad smile. "Wow." His company handled the entire security management for Jeon Corporation. Namjoon appeared less intimidating for a CEO, he radiated next-door-neighbor kind of vibe. But Jimin had no doubt this man could switch to the scariest person in the room if he wanted to.
"How do you know my brother?" Namjoon asked innocently.
"Oh, I was his..." Jimin cleared his throat. "I'm his patient."
"Patient?"
"Namjoon-ah that's enough," Jin intervened. "Jimin is a patient turned friend. And stop pulling your detective routine on him."
"I wasn't." Namjoon looked offended. "You rarely bring your friends home. So that makes him special. I just wanted to get acquainted."
Jimin laughed. He looked like a child with that small pout and Jin just rolled his eyes.
"I'm not that special, hyung," Jimin said. "Jin hyung is just joking. There isn't much to know about me. Really."
"You heard him. Stop asking him questions," Jin spat before turning his back to them.
"We just met, hyung. I just wanted to know––" Namjoon shut his mouth when Jin glared at him. "Alright, I'm not asking anything. You don't have to pull that look on me."
"Jin hyung, stop glaring at him." Jimin's eyes crinkled with laughter. "Joon hyung, you can ask me anything."
"Jimin-ah...don't," Jin's voice rang with a warning. "You don't know my brother. He will start profiling you the moment you start talking to him. It's not his fault, his brain works that way."
"Hyung, it's okay."
"Whatever." Jin waved the wooden spoon he used to stir the pot and turned away.
Namjoon just shrugged and started talking about work, which Jimin was happy to engage in. It was clear he didn't want to piss his brother and Jimin understood why Jin shut off the conversation before it even began. Jimin had anxiety issues and he would have had a hard time if Namjoon asked any questions related to his past.
The rest of the conversation had been platonic and Jimin appreciated how Namjoon carried the majority of the conversation skirting around general topics while keeping them engaged. He learned a thing or two about Jin. It felt good to be able to join a meaningful banter occasionally.
An hour later, Namjoon excused himself saying he had work. Jimin sat with Jin taking the game controller though he sucked at video games. Jin started including him in the game two years ago and Jimin soon realized games weren't his thing. But Jin's friendly banter and unadulterated laughter made him join every time though he knew he would lose every single round with the doctor. It was one of those times when Jin shed his professional mask and acted like a ten-year-old. Jimin always welcomed his contagious enthusiasm.
"So, how is work?" Jin asked after a few rounds of games. He sifted through a few movie channels before settling on a romantic comedy.
"Good." Jimin kicked his leg on the table and rested his head on the backrest.
Jin bumped his shoulder. "What's with that smile? Did you meet someone?" The eldest wiggled his eyebrows.
"Aish, hyung. No." But Jimin's face heated up because one face suddenly popped up in his mind.
"Who?"
"Huh?" Jimin blinked incredulously.
"I've known you enough to know there is a reason behind that shit-eating grin of yours. Now give me the name." Jin turned to face him, throwing his arm over the backrest, one knee resting between them.
"It's not what you think." Jimin shook his head, mild panic settling inside his chest.
"What did I think?"
"Hyung..."
"I'm a good listener." Jin tilted his head, patiently waiting as Jimin contemplated.
He nibbled at his lower lip as he finally let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding. Jimin didn't know what was special about last night, but talking to Jin offer helped him figure things.
Jin hummed after a while. "You're improving at your people skills. And it looks like they're warming up to you."
"Hyung, you know I'm good with people as long as they don't ask me questions I don't have answers to," Jimin stated as a matter of fact.
"Right. Now tell me, why you were laughing you earlier?"
Jimin rolled his eyes. "I told you everything."
"Is your boss that hot?"
"Yeah. Huh? Wha––"
Jin was typing away on his phone with a smirk.
"Hyung, what was that? It's just that he's all so intimidating in the office, but last night..." Jimin's smile stretched involuntarily. "He was the opposite."
"Hot is not the word I will use to describe him." Jimin flicked his gaze to Jin's phone and the heat climbed to his neck when he noticed the sneaky doctor had searched Jungkook on the internet and now scrolling through his Instagram. "Tall, well-built, killer jawline, soft eyes," Jin listed without taking his eyes off the screen. "He's a whole package."
Jimin gasped in horror when it dawned on him what his doctor hyung was implying. "I'm not into men."
Jin lifted a brow. "Yeah, okay. But it's okay to appreciate beauty like that."
Jimin shook his head in disbelief and snorted. "Can we watch the movie now?"
"Yeah, whatever."
I love these covers my best friend made for me :)
Until we meet again...💜💜💜
