Chapter No. 41
Archer's POV:
Today is the last day at the hospital, Eve got discharged earlier due to the fact she's recovering rather quickly also due to the fact that she was already in the hospital for 2 almost 3 months allowing her body to heal internally. Now she only needs to return to life as it is. This'll be the hard part. Doctors had a private meeting with me, Bernard, Aunt Saira, Mom and Dad. They told even though, she looks normal she's far from it. She has been suffering from a long time and even in the state she was; it was suffering for her. It would most likely advised that either she sees psychiatrist for treatment or she remains healthy and happy, any sort of stress would most definitely effect not only her mental state but her physical as well.
We all came to the conclusion that it would be best to have her under our observation without being to obsessive about it since it can easily contribute to her stress and just allow her to be herself as she wants to be. None of us have told her about the chances of her having stress related problems. Neither do we plan to.
On my daughter's request we went shopping as father-daughter, to pick Eve's clothes for her discharge over all change of her wardrobe at my house. Yup you guessed right. Charlotte quite literally forced Eve to stay at our mansion, because of 2 reasons; 1. She calls her mommy and as her mommy she has to stay where she stays. 2. Aunt Saira and Cam both sold the old mansion and shifted into our neighborhood meaning Cam and Lotte have daily sleep overs so, yeah.
Also a hidden reason is because I can't live without her anymore and soon I am planning to let her know but the way she deserves.
Since I know she's being discharged, I went outside for awhile so I could do something special for her. Mom is completely on board with my idea and since I know Pretty girl doesn't like anything fancy I did something worth while, something I know she'll appreciate.
Making my way to her room I see through the glass that she's already changed into the outfit especially bought by me and Charlotte. I smile seeing her happily chatting Ana and Chris.
While Lotte is in her arms. Chris spots me first, nodding in direction before taking Lotte, making Eve pout which has me chuckling, damn she loves her even more than me, than again my daughter has a way of wrapping everyone around her little pinky finger.
Knocking I enter her room and see her turn neck towards the door, as soon as she spots me she has a smile that make me fall to my knees, it's that radiant.
"Hey, Pretty girl, this is for you." I take the bouquet I was hiding at my back side with one hand and hand it over to her. She smiles seeing its her favorite flowers in one, purple roses and gardenias.
"You didn't have to, Archer." She smiles taking the bouquet.
Nodding, I move forward, bending down I kiss her forehead, "I know Eve but I wanted to. So do you like the gift our daughter prepared for you?"
Taking a seat beside her placing my arm around her petite waist, in the 2 and a half months she's lost even more weight making her look more like a skeleton but at least she has more color than before which is quite an improvement, "Yup, the bracelet and the dress are really beautiful, I was just complimenting my sweet daughter that she really out did herself!"
With I see Charlotte blush and hide in her uncle's neck making us all laugh. She always is shy to compliments. A few moments later they all leave and immediately I capture her sweet lips in a kiss. She puts her hands on my chest. I want to deepen the kiss but I know we'd be easily disturbed so forcing myself I let her lips go. She looks so cute whenever I kiss her. Everytime feels like the first time.
"I was coming here when I saw a pendant that pretty much in the shade in which your cheeks are whenever I kiss you, so I couldn't help myself but buy it." I say not guilty at all since I like buying her presents even though she gets angry with me.
I know she's gonna let me have an earful so immediately I say, "Please?"
She sighs, "No point in arguing with you so yes. And thank you."
I smile widely, taking the pink crystal pendant I put around her neck and as I thought it looks beautiful on her.
She looks at it and then looks at me, "It's breathtakingly beautiful, Archer!"
She engulfs me in a hug, I chuckle at her behavior. I feel her sniffling I immediately pull back to look at her to see her beautiful eyes having tears in them, "What's the matter, Pretty girl?"
I wipe the tears that managed slip, "It's just that... I'm scared Archer... What if someone tries to snatch our happiness once again? Everytime I thought everything is over fate proved me wrong... What about now?"
I get where her fear is coming from, "As long as our loves remains strong for one another no one and I mean no one can touch or harm us not now, not ever again. That's a promise from your Archer."
With that I kiss her forehead, "What happened after I collapsed, Archer?" She asks sweetly.
"Xia died in the encounter we had, whereas the entire Thompson clan has gone completely under. We have enough proof that they won't be seeing the light of for the next 75 years and some of them have been given death sentences. They are no longer a threat to us, Pretty girl. And before you ask, the entire Colton clan has also been seized for having relationship with them and of course they finally confessed to have been involved in the murder of Ashton Colton. All the demons of your past have finally got what they deserved my Pretty girl. Now you can focus on only recovering." I finish with a smile.
She pouts on the last sentence, "I've already recovered!"
I raise an eyebrow at her sentence, at which she has the decency to look a bit embarrassed, "Okay maybe not completely recovered but I'm still almost recovered...."
"Don't even bother, Eve, I'm not listening to any of your excuses. You're not allowed to step out of the house until I don't see you completely okay. I will have Aunt Scarlett check on you everyday, till she doesn't give 100% green signal that you have stamina I'm not letting you out of my sight. As a matter of fact none of us will. So get used to it." I say with complete finality.
She pouts but doesn't disagree knowing I won't be budging no matter how much she tries. That day when we went home she was utterly surprised to see the house decorated in flowers and balloons, with a huge banner of 'Welcome Home Evelyn'. She was a mess but a happy mess one I'd welcome any day. The surprise went even better than I'd expected.
******
I smile at the end remembering those 3 months. It was a living hell but after every storm there must be a rainbow as its nature's law. My rainbow is that I have my Eve safe and happy with us. Without her we are incomplete to no extent!
