The Beach.
Today was the best day to go to the beach. The sun's shining nicely down on them, the birds chirping a nice tune that had anyone relaxing. The red hot sand that's pretty much burning their feet, the sound of the ocean calming them and the sound of children laughing making reality a dream that you will never believe the horrors of reality.
Cole Maroni had on his shades, looking up at the darken sky as the sun shone down on him. He ran a hand through dirty blond hair that he let stick up in any direction. He made a mental note to shave when he got home as his fingers slid across the stubble on his chin.
Cole looked to his right to see his best friend, Mattew Lumberg, reading a comic, hardly noticing anything around him. He kicked him on his leg but Mattew paid him no mind as he flipped to the next page of his comic.
Frowning, Cole continued to pester his best friend but throughout Mattew ignored him, more focused on finishing his sad excuse for a comic.
Unlike Cole who wore just his red loose swimsuit, Mattew wore a black swimwear and an orange short sleeve shirt which he didn't button up, flaunting his very attractive chest. Not that Cole's wasn't attractive, actually, his was the most attractive of the trio.
Said third person, Marcus Lumberg, Mattew's elder twin, was flirting it up with girls from the bar. Marcus was what you would call tall, dark and handsome. Thanks to his black hair and velvety black eyes, he has that dark and mysterious thing going on for him.
As for Mattew, he had short brown hair, russet brown eyes, not all that tall. And no, they weren't identical in any way.
"Come on Matt, Let's go play. We could build a sand castle if you like," Cole begged.
"Not interested."
"Please! Marcus is being a whore again and I am bored off my ass." He turned in his seat to face him.
"Why not join him?" he asked dryly as he flipped the next page. He was almost done because Cole could actually count the remaining pages.
Cole frowned at his question. It wasn't like he didn't like flirting with girls or hanging with Marcus, he just wasn't interested in any of them. Marcus fine, Girls troublesome. In other words, he was gay. A closet case. "I don't want to. Matty puh-lease."
"No." He said with a finality in his tone but Cole wasn't taking it. He stood up quickly to snatch up the comic. Matt glared at him, sitting up, "Give it back."
"I am bored. Let's go play in the water."
"No Cole. I want to read. Give it to me," He ordered. Mattew was always the serious one.
"No," Cole replied firmly. "Catch me if you can." He added, turning towards the ocean and running.
"No, don't go there," He said, right behind his friend.
Cole laughed as he reached the shore, turning to whip the book in his face then acted as if he was going to throw it in the water.
The horror on Matt's face had him grinning from cheek to cheek, "You know I wouldn't Matt. Jeez and you claim to be my best friend."
"Yeah, after you ratted me out about that glue thing, trusting you became a problem," Matt said, squinting from the sunlight the sun was generously giving them.
Cole remembered that day so clearly. Marcus and Mattew had planned to glue Derick Cloud, their one of a kind bully, to his seat and Cloud had been nice enough to give him a day free of beating and toilet dunking.
He just had to. He preferred the twins torment more than the enormous bully's anyways. "I am sorry." Was what he said then and what he said now.
"You are always sorry. Just give me my comic and we can forget this." He rose a brow at him.
"Yeah right." He smirked then ran into the tides, laughing when Mattew groaned and ran after him.
Turning, he splashed the salty water on Matt making him spit them out and try to wipe the water off his face. He glared at him, taking a dangerous step towards him and making Cole's smirk die when he saw the angry look on his best friend's face.
He took a step back as he said, "Matt, we are joking here. No need to look so mad."
"I am going to fucking kill you." He roared then lunged at him. Chasing him deeper into the ocean, totally forgetting the book in his hand. Matt managed to knock him down, just when a big wave came and separated them, pushing them towards the shore but by then, Matt's comic was already taken away by some unknown water force that was into comics.
Cole slowly stood up and retreated into the beach as Matt searched the water for his comic.
He knew war would start when the realization finally hit him so he tried to move as far away as possible but as usual, Matt caught on immediately. Searching the crowd for him and when their eyes met, Cole swallowed. Yeah, let the war begin.
Mattew ran out of the water to chase Cole around the beach. They pushed people aside shouting sorry in their wake.
Cole ran towards the bar Marcus was in, in hope he would help him out. He saw him sitting on one of the bar stool talking to some blonde who was giggling to what he was saying. Cole stopped in front of them, looking back and smiling when he saw Matt running in the distance. He turned back to them and grinned at their confused expression.
He winked at Marcus then said to the blond girl who was now smiling back but still confused, "Hi, I'm Cole. I'm Marcus' buddy."
"Oh hi. Chloe." She giggled stupidly.
Cole looked back at Marcus who was glaring at him, silently daring him to say something stupid like he always does. But he just shrugged and looked at Chloe who was grinning at them both. "So Chloe. I am so sorry but I have to cut your date short. I need his help to get a drunkard off my ass." He said glancing back to see Matt had gotten so close.
He shifted impatiently on his feet then looked back at Chloe who was already standing. She smiled at him flirtatiously as she twirled her hair, "Oh, it is fine. I have a party tomorrow, do you guys wanna come?"
The boys shared looks and exclaimed, "Yes!"
"Lovely!" she said as she took something out of her purse. She handed it to Cole then winked at him, "See you there." She smiled at Marcus then turned and walked off.
Without giving the cute Blondie another glance, Cole turned to Marcus to see him glaring at him hatefully which made Cole give him his familiar sorry face. "You took another girl from me again."
"I didn't do this one purposely." He explain then gasped when he saw Matt coming his way. "Stop Matt from trying to kill me." He added then slammed the invitation on the table in front of him.
"Why?" he stood then looked behind him just as Matt passed him to get to Cole, but thank God Marcus had a sharp reflex because he grabbed on to his waist, pulling his brother against him. "Whoa bro, what's got your panties in a bunch?" He asked as he tightened his grip on his brother when he began to struggle against him.
"This bastard threw my comic in the fucking ocean."
"I doubt the ocean is in any kind of relationship." Cole said thoughtfully.
"That's not what I mean you asshole."
Cole feign disgust at his words, "Eww that is disgusting."
"You really want to die, Cole." Marcus frowned at him but he just grinned back.
"Hey, I was kidding with the guy but he just had to go all baby and cry for his comic. We could buy another one next week, okay?"
Now Matt was seething with rage. He was acting all tinkerbell now. His pretty face was red and he was struggling more against Marcus who looked surprised by Matt's sudden strength.
He looked back at his friend and said, "I think you should run. I can't hold him anymore."
Cole stiffened. He wasn't that mad, was he? He can't be that pissed because of a single comic? Or was he also pissed about what Cloud did to him?
He took a step back just when Matt spoke, "Marcus! How can you let him stand there remembering this idiot watched as Cloud and his stupid friends glued us to our seats, poured honey on us and...and were those feathers? Whatever it was, my mum almost killed me when she saw me. I am so going to kill you!"
Marcus froze behind him then slowly, their eyes met. Cole knew he had met the wrong person just then because Marcus let go of Matt and went after him.
The race didn't benefit him in anyway. He fell a couple times, got pushed by people, his feet burned and that painful sensation you get when you work your body too much, yeah, and that too.
He didn't know how long he ran but he knew he couldn't run forever. So defeated, he fell to his knees just then Marcus caught up with him. Mattew was just a few steps behind him, slumping down in front of him.
"So..." Marcus started breathlessly, "What are we going to do with him?"
"I would have...beaten him up...but, I wasted all that energy, running here." He looked at Cole with a raised brow, "How can...you run so fast...and not feel like dying?"
He smiled at them, taking short breaths before talking, "I am not on the track team for nothing. And I lived four years with Cloud tormenting me. It was kind of like that Usain Bolt story. Kept running from the guy."
Sadly, Marcus and Mattew only came in two years ago so Cole had been Cloud's personal bully doll for two years. It reduced when he got them but now he bullies them because of Cole though. Said he missed him...
"So what? You are like his second or something? Cole Bolt?" Marcus asked. Every the dumbest.
"I don't think it works that way, Marc." Matt squinted at his brother just to see him shrug.
"OK. So what do you guys plan to do to me. I know I deserve some beating for what I did." When the brothers looked at him with their grins, he cringed at their happy expression. "Well, but not on the face though. I still want to look hot to school tomorrow."
Matt huffed as he stood up but Marcus just shrugged, pushing Cole down on the sand so he was lying flat on his back.
When the brothers loomed over him, he closed his eyes and tried not to fight back as they covering him with sand. Just doing that took about an hour or so but he said nothing as he tried to relax into the blanket of sand.
It was when they started stomping the sand down on him did he finally opened his eyes. They smiled at their work then grinned at him.
"See you in school arse!" Matt gave him the finger as Marcus laughed and walked off, pulling Matt with him.
"Actually, it is very comfortable!" he yelled back at them but they paid him no mind.
Well, I guess I better get comfortable.
