Oh my gosh has it been a hot minute since I updated this book. I'm really sorry you guys I didn't think it would take me almost two years to get this chapter done. I just want to thank everyone that has stuck around and voted and given me such nice comments about this book. And thanks especially for 1k reads! I hope this chapter was worth waiting for.

Neo sighed in relief as she heard the baby in her arms snore softly, a tell tale sign that her son was finally asleep.

She placed Ryder in his crib and gently smoothed out his fuzzy ginger hair.

"Kid finally asleep?" Roman asked

Neo turned toward her husband and put her hands on her hips, ".....!"

"What do you mean no thanks to me?"

".......!!!"

Roman sighed, "ok ok I'm sorry I haven't been helping you with Ryder."

Neo looked down at the floor sadly causing the ginger haired criminal to sigh.

He reached out to put his arm around her and Neo cautiously moved into his embrace. It had been tough lately and even with Roman by her side the mute criminal was feeling nothing short of alone.

It had barely been two months since she had brought the newest additions to the Torchwick family into the world. A baby boy and girl which Roman and she had named Ryder and Angel. But Salem wasn't happy with the fact that the two of them would now be extremely busy with taking care of the children instead of carrying out her plans. So she forced the couple to give up Angel with the promise of giving a small fraction of her magic to Ryder in exchange.

Since then Neo had become extremely attached to their son while Roman had become extremely distant. It's not that he didn't love Ryder, of course he did in his own way, he was just afraid of the possibility that his child would be taken away. It had hurt enough to give Angel up and Roman really didn't think he could handle losing Ryder too.

But to Neo seeing Roman not even try to help her was basically the same as him saying that she was going to be raising the baby on her own. That thought scared her more then anything and it was really beginning to take a toll on her mental state.

Neo began shaking as sobs racked her body and she tried to pull away, but Roman was too quick for her and within seconds he had hoisted his wife into a bridal carry.

"Alright shortie come here," he said plopping her onto the bed before laying next to her.

"....."

"Don't lie to me Neo. You're not fine."

Neo rolled her eyes and turned over on her side.

"Neeeeeoooooo," Roman said in a singsong voice before poking her side.

The mute criminal slowly rolled over revealing her tear stained cheeks.

".....?"

"What?" Her husband answered in shock, "of course you're a good mom."

"....."

"Hon you didn't fail Angel. If anything you protected her. And now she's living in a new home with people who will love her."

"........."

Roman sighed, "I know you wanted her home to be with us. But you know that wouldn't have worked. She wouldn't be safe."

Neo blinked back more tears.

The ginger haired man took his wife's hands in his own. "Look Neo. I'm sorry that we had to give Angel up and I'm sorry I haven't been a good dad to Ryder. I'll make it up to him and you. You both deserve that."

"......"

"No I don't deserve anything. I've got the best family I could ask for. What more could I want?"

Neo blushed and hugged him.

Roman hugged her back and looked over at Ryder sleeping away peacefully in his crib. If that kid really was part him how bad could he be?

Just then a thought occurred to him and he looked down at the young woman snuggled up against his chest, "hey don't tell anyone I got all mushy ok? I've got a rep to uphold."

Neo smiled sleepily and held up her hand in a "thumbs up" gesture.

Roman smiled back at her before falling asleep himself. And there they were. Together. Just as it always would be.
