Chapter 3

Aparnas's POV.

It was almost dinnertime.

'Where is my towel, Ashi ?' I screamed from the bathroom.

After playing pillow fight, I had coffee, scrolled through Instagram for some time, and decided to take a shower as we planned to go out to get some fresh air.

'I don't know Appu, it may be in my wardrobe. Wait I'll get it for you ' said Ashi and went to her room.

After waiting for 5 long minutes which felt like an eternity, I understood she was playing around with me.

'Ashi, don't you dare play these tricks on me. I quite remember my towel was right on the sofa.' I playfully threatened Ashi.

She is the over-dramatic girl Ashi said 'Is it.. then I'm not giving you your towel, You can only come and take'.

'Come on now, we will be late to go out ' I said trying to convince her with my sweet voice.

After making me wait for almost 10 minutes which according to her was "revenge", she decided to give me my towel so I threatened her that I would never step inside this house again.

She laughed her heart out as she knew that wasn't possible.

This was how we always were. We were like role models for best friends. This was one of the main reasons I love Ashi. She was childish and innocent.

I wore one of her trousers and a tee which she chose.

After getting ready we both stood in front of her vanity mirror and saw ourselves.

We were so much alike and people who never knew us would ask us if we were sisters. Somehow we both had become unofficial sisters, or what people tell sisters from another mother, but our bond was much more than that.

Strange, a year back I never knew her.

We were completely from two different backgrounds and places, yet we fit perfectly right. It was destiny I guess.

Having the same thoughts running in our minds, we both made disgusting faces and laughed.

We decided to deliver Ashis cake which she had prepared and Rome in my bike for some time and call it a day.

Ashi bakes delicious cakes and her business is quite good. For an amateur, she did amazingly well.

After coming back home, we were not in the mood for a big dinner as our lunch was heavy, so we decided to cook Maggie.

Maggie was always our favorite dish. Ashi knew a special way of making them and we loved eating them and watching the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S on Netflix.

That was usually our weekend ritual if we had nothing planned or if we did not have any to-do lists.

We were completely exhausted. Our minds was tired of doing the thinking job.

We both dozed off to sleep watching TV at about midnight.

This time I was half hoping to get a dream and half hoping not to cause the afternoon dream was a big question mark.

I don't know why I was hoping, maybe to meet Mr. White Horse. I don't know. I usually don't wish for any guy to appear in my dream but this was different.

It turned out I never dreamt that night.

                                                                          x---x---x----x----x---x----x

Waking up on Monday morning was my hatest. Ashi's alarm was so loud that it could wake up a whole lane, but not her.

Getting a headache from her alarm. I put it off and woke up, got out of bed to get some water, and started my usual yoga routine. Being an early bird I always made sure not to miss my yoga and I was kind of a fitness freak.

I believed in converting all my morning energy into something as beautiful as yoga.

Ashi was quite the opposite of me. She preferred to be a night owl and not sleep until late in the morning.

She was more of a sunset person than a sunrise person.

For some days after getting to know her, I made efforts to wake her up early. But that did not work. She always found excuses to miss waking up. Eventually, I gave up.

While doing yoga my mind wandered on all the things that happened over the weekend. The rose, my dreams, roaming out.

Even though it seemed like a normal weekend there was something strange about it. I did not want my mind to be lost in thoughts so I decided to meditate for some time until Ashi woke up.

After my meditation, I took a bath and started making coffee for both of us.

It was half past 7 am. I came to Ashi's room with coffee and the smell of coffee woke her up. She woke up with a big yawn and messy hair.

I kept coffee by the bedside table and told her I'd be leaving as I had my daily work meeting at 9. She did not respond to it and went to the washroom to get fresh.

Strange, I thought and came to the dining area.

She came out of the washroom after what felt like forever.

We both sat on the dining chair sipping our coffee and finally, Ashi spoke by asking me,

'Appu please stay over for the day ' with a sleepy face.

I gave a sarcastic expression. Her voice was serious. So I did not want to push her further. I nodded my head.

She smiled and hugged me in response. Deep inside I knew she needed me and also I did not want to leave her alone.

My home was just a 5-minute walk from her house. My mom was more fond of her than me, which meant I was allowed to do anything if it involved Ashi,

Ashi started her morning chores and I got dressed in one of her cute pajamas and left to get all my working materials and some extra clothes from my house.

As I was closing the gate behind me which is a big thing for Indian house owners I noticed a 'white' car heading my way.

The car was so fast and it was coming in my direction, I stood like a statue. I thought the car hit me and killed me on the spot, so I screamed.

But to my luck, the driver drove past me with inches of gap between me and the car and parked the car so professionally on the opposite lane.

I felt so embarrassed.

I then remembered my dream of a white horse. I was shocked.

The driver got out of the car and had a smirk on his face.

He knew he had got me and I could feel my ears go hot and my face red.

Having a high adrenaline rush I stood iced in front of the gate without moving an inch and I had the best possible frown on my face.

He came up to me and said 'Hi, I'm Kishan, nice to meet you.' with a wide smile

For some reason my body was acting paralyzed at the moment, noticing every detail about him.

His cologne was so strong that it made me nauseous.

His cooling glass was more bigger than his face but it looked good on him.

His trimmed beard highlighted his jawline, He looked fit in a white formal shirt and beige formal pants.  He seemed well-maintained and groomed. So definitely he wasn't just a car driver.

'Omg, why am I looking at him and noticing all this about him ' I mentally hit myself for doing that. This is not me. Shaking myself back to reality, I noticed it had been a few seconds after 'Kishan' (the guy who drove the car)  had introduced himself and held his hand out for a handshake and I stood there looking dumb not knowing what to do.

It seemed like he was looking right through me, and still having that smirk on his face. Just when I was about to open my mouth I heard Ashi's voice from far away, she must have heard me scream.

Remembering the way I screamed I felt embarrassed all over again and mentally hit myself the second time.

It was seen on my face cause I heard the so-called 'Kishan' laugh. I gave him a stern look. It was all because of him that I felt embarrassed. I wanted to shout at him but held back my temper.

Ashi came running down the stairs, asking me what happened all along the way.

When she came to the parking lot which was inside her gate she also froze seeing me, and 'Kishan' and his hand out in front of him for a handshake.

Seeing her Kishan immediately took his hand back and murmured something under his breath.

Ignoring his gesture I replied to Ashi saying ' Nothing happened Ashi, just some small misunderstanding'.

She looked back and forth at me and him in confusion. She did have a killer look at first when she came down, but then I could see how her expression slowly changed when she started noticing Kishan.

It turned all flirty. Her eyes sparkled. She started walking towards us with glee and confusion.

I thought 'How can she manage to be all charming and attractive just out of bed, and here I am all dressed and still so dumb'.

She shook his hand, introduced herself and I guess they spoke something but I was in no state to listen to it. My mind was still thinking about the dream in the background.

I looked at him and it looked like he was in awe with Ashi. The way he looked at her was something very different. If I'm not wrong it looked like love at first sight or that's what I thought.

I tried to pull her hand and make her stop talking, but no use. She was involved in having a conversation with him and vice versa. I did not like it. He was a stranger and she could not straight away talk to him like that so freely.

Not wasting another minute there I decided to leave, I whispered 'bye' in her ears, and she turned and gestured for me to wait. I ignored it and gave her a look, she understood that I would not wait so I left from there, letting them continue their conversation.
