One Year

Enjoy!

Tai let out a sigh as he entered the restaurant. It was late at night but Kari had asked him to come since they hardly seen each other. Tai looked around the restaurant and saw Kari smiling as she waved her hand to him, signaling him to come over. He made his way to her and was in shock to see the last person who ever wanted to see him. His ex fiance Caroline.

"Um Kari, what is going on?"

He asked looking between them and he wasn't surprise to see Caroline avoiding from looking at him as she glared at the wall beside her.

"This dear brother is called a intervention"

"For what?"

"Why else? For to rekindle your lost love for each other"

"But that flame is long gone Kari, I'm sorry but I need to go"

He said sadly as he was about to walk away but Kari quickly stopped him.

"Tai wait! Come on, at least talk to each other, it's been a year can't you both let it go?"

She asked. Caroline scoffs as she shook her head before looking to Kari.

"This is ridiculous, I'm not even interested in him anymore"

"If you weren't interested then why are you here?"

Tai asked with a raised eyebrow. Caroline glared at him heatedly.

"She has my hands cuffed under the table. I think you've gone psycho"

She said looking to Kari. Tai shook his head.

"Kari release her"

"Not until the both of you talk, I'm sorry but I had to take drastic measures in order for the both of you to be here"

"How did you know I will come willingly?"

Tai asked to his sister.

"Because your my brother and you love me. Now sit"

She said ordering to Tai who immediately obeyed as he sat across his ex.

"Now then, can we please be adults about this and actually talk this out"

"Are you insane? I want nothing to do with him. Its been a year and I have been just fine without him"

Caroline said angrily.

"Well good, now the both of you can catch up and don't worry about the food, the both of you order whatever you want and I'll pay"

She said as she happily stood up and was about to head to the bathroom but stop and walked up to Caroline before uncuffing her. Caroline glared at Kari as she rubbed her wrist.

"Now have fun"

She said leaving the two couples in a awkward position. Tai nervously smiled as he looked to Caroline who remained glaring at him.

"So it's been a year. What have you been..."

He said as he got cut off as she quickly picked up the menu to block her view from seeing him. Tai let out a sigh as he waited for her to put the menu down. A waiter soon arrived to take their order before returning with their drinks.

"I'm just going to eat my meal and then I'm gonna leave"

She said sternly making sure that was the end of the discussion. Tai took a gulp of his beer before looking to Caroline who remain glaring at the table. The food soon arrived. Tai remained eating while Caroline only picked at her food.

"Are you still living at the same apartment?"

He asked trying to start a conversation but Caroline just looked to him with a glare.

"Don't talk to me"

"Caroline..."

"Not today"

"Look can't we just..."

"See ya"

"Wait..."

"I'm gone"

She said as she stood up leaving her unfinished plate on the table. Tai bow his head sadly as he looked at the table. Kari sadly walked up to the table.

"How did it go?"

"Like how I thought it would go. Kari why did you do this?"

He asked looking up at her. Kari sadly smiled.

"Believe it or not, Caroline was the best thing that ever happen to you"

"Was"

He said. Kari looked at the table and gasp as she saw Caroline's unfinished food.

"Are you kidding me? She didn't eat any of this! This was the most expensive meal on the menu and Caroline knew that"

Kari said in shock.

"It was probably payback for having her come here by force but nonetheless Kari thanks but really the relationship between us is dead"

Tai said sadly.

"What's broken can also be mended and what's hurt can also be healed."

"But not this time"

He said as he got up and took out his wallet and put some money down to help with the check.

"I'm heading home, bye Kari"

He said as he left leaving the restaurant. As he was walking, he shoved his hands into his pockets as he made his way to the park. It was a quiet night, the sounds of the crickets made it less lonely. He sadly looked to the moon that was high in the sky illuminating the park. He made his way to a nearby bench and was surprised to see Caroline as he recognized her from behind. He was about to make himself known but soon decided against it and was about to leave until he heard her sniffling and crying.

"If you think I'm crying for you, you're sadly mistaken"

Caroline said causing Tai to freeze as she sensed he was right there.

"Then why are you crying?"

Caroline turned around to face him with tears.

"The day you left me at the alter in front of my family, was the day they disowned me. I just found out my father is dead and I can't see him one last time because they don't want me there. Not that you care anyways"

She said turning back around as she continues to cry. Tai honestly didn't know what to do, he knew it was his fault but there's no way he can change the past. He slowly made his way to sit beside her and gently comfort her without bitting his head off. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

"It's gonna be okay"

He said softly. Caroline sniffled as she looked to him with teary eyes before throwing herself at him as she pressed her lips against his.
