Chapter 85

For the last two days, Stardust Hotel had been a trending topic among everyone regarding the harassment. News reached media that night and by now, every person in the world knew about the incident. Which meant more pressure and stress on Seokjin. The reporters kept asking for interviews, demanding the truth. Director Yeon didn't take any step as of then, but that didn't give any guarantee that he won't soon.

Seokjin was overloaded with work all on a sudden that he found no time to take care of himself. He had to attend board meetings, emergency meetings everyday. He avoided the media people in all case, not ready to face them now. He was overstressed with everything that his head felt like bursting any time in pain.

But hey, at least Yoon Min was coming today.

He was typing in the speed of light inside his office, arranging papers and signing on documents by himself. That's when his phone started to ring on the desk. He glanced at the name and instantly smiled for the first time in the past few days. He stopped what he was doing, took the call, walked to his couch and flopped down there to have a little rest. He laid his back there and heard his wife saying from the other line,

"Jin..."

Her voice was mixed with worry and concern. He absolutely missed that.

"Hi, honey."

There was a deep sigh on the other side, "Are you alright? It must've been very hard for you."

She must've got to know from the news. She sounded sad and pained.

"It's...fine."

"What's going on over there now? Is Director Yeon still mad?"

He closed his eyes and replied, "I think so."

"Oh. What about the media people? Why haven't you set a meeting with them?" She knew exactly what to ask.

"I-I...can't do it without you." He answered honestly, voice cracking a little.

"Jin..." She was moving on the phone. "I'm sorry you went through that alone."

Seokjin felt a tear rolling down his face, "If only you were here, Yoonie...if only you were here, I know for sure you could've fixed this somehow. You would've...talked to the director in your own way, convince him, talk to the reporters with me, attend these meetings with me...I'm sure you would've done that."

Yoon Min was silent then. She didn't know how to respond. Surely she left him in a very bad time. She mightn't had played a valuable role there, but she could've supported him mentally. She should've been there as his secretary and wife.

Then he let out a long exhale and said in the phone, "But at least you're coming today, right? When do I pick you up?"

He couldn't hear her answer. Which kind of confused him so he called her name to make sure.

Her voice was a little scared and nervous, "About that...I don't think I will be able to come t-today."

Seokjin jolted his eyes open, heart stopping at her words. "W-what?"

"I'm sorry, Jin...it's just...the new manager is supposed to come but something happened so she won't make it today. Which is why I can't leave the children..." She tried to sound as logical as possible.

There was silence from his side. Pure silence. But she knew he was growing mad, terribly furious and upset. He should be of course.

"I don't understand..." He finally said after a minute. "You won't come today?"

She let out a sorrowful sigh and bit her lip; but didn't answer. She let him take her silence for yes.

"So the kids are suddenly more important to you?" He let out a bitter laugh and sat in his couch.

Her eyebrows knitted together, "No! No, it's nothing like that, Jin."

"But it is, right? They always were. From the very start. More than me, more than your own husband!" Seokjin raised his voice unintendedly. His voice was full of anger in a matter of seconds.

Yoon Min from the other line was surprised. She expected this, but shw didn't expect him to get mad so quickly and even shout. She had to calm him first. "No, never. Jin, you're most important to me. You know that."

"Then why can't you come back? Why can't you leave that place and come to me? I need you! I need you so much right now. You know what I'm going through here."

She licked her lower lip, chest restless at his upsetting words, "I'll be there tomorrow, I promise. Just not t-today, Jin. Please try to understand."

"No!" He yelled on the phone. "No, I need you here today! Right now, right here with me. You hear me? You come back right this second!" He was roaring at her.

Hearing him, she was scared to even talk now. She couldn't blame him. His brain was messed up due to loneliness and stress hence he was behaving like that. But she really didn't know how to make him understand her over phone.

Seokjin ran his fingers through his hair, "I can't believe out of every stupid person in this world, it's you who can't understand me! You can't feel my pain or my headache. I'm a mess here and you can't feel that. I'm about to lose my business just like that and you want to stay with your children?! They aren't even your kids, Yoon Min! Ever thought that? So why are you so goddamn worried for them?!"

Her heart broke when he said it like that.

"J-Jin..."

"I don't get you. How can you say that to my face right now? As if what's going on isn't enough! You know you should be here with me, but all you care is about those kids, that darn orphanage you came from! Not me. Not your husband who gave you everything! Is this what I get from you?"

Yoon Min fought her fear and took courage to say something. But what he said next silenced her in the most shocking way.

"God...I can't believe I married you. I hate you! I really hate you so much right now."

She may had told him something she shouldn't had. Maybe she was being selfish. Maybe she wasn't doing her duties as a wife then. She admit she told him something no man should hear in a tough time like this.

But really...must he go that far with his words? Did he mean them? Anger speaks truth sometimes.

All Yoon Min knew was she couldn't breathe properly and answer him. She was speechless, stunned, heartbroken after hearing her beloved husband yell at her like that. She couldn't endure it. Her lips were parted in shock, barely air escaping.

Seokjin on the other hand hung up the call and threw his phone somewhere too hard, he was sure it was broken since the noise pretty much confirmed it. After that, he let out an animalistic growl and walked to the wide glass window that allowed him to see a full view of Seoul. He punched his fist on the glass quite furiously and yelled out his frustration for the next minutes.

After about five minutes, when his head cooled down automatically, he sat down on his chair and laid against it, closing his eyes. Then suddenly he realized what he did. He opened his eyes slowly and gasped in shock at his own action. His own words rung inside his head like a ringtone, adding to his headache. How on Earth did he do that?

"Oh God, no. No, no, no...what did I say to her? No, no I shouldn't have, how could I? How could I be a jerk..."

Seokjin ran to the spot where he threw his phone and picked it up. He saw it was completely shattered and it wasn't even turning on. Which meant he couldn't even call her back to apologize.

"Shit! God no! I didn't mean that...I swear I didn't...What have I done!? Oh no...Yoonie..." In a minute, he broke into sobs on the floor, crying like a pathetic jerk who hurt his innocent wife just like that. She didn't say anything wrong. But how awfully he said some of the worst words a husband can say to his wife so easily.

He messed up again.

----------------

The place was exceptionally full tonight. It was squirming with every kind of drunken person; dancing, laughing, hooking up with others. The party lights weren't on though, there was a gentle light everywhere. There was music playing one after another in the highest volume, stirring pain into his headache more slowly. But people seemed to enjoy that loud music.

After treating his wife like that this morning, Seokjin didn't feel like going home. A home he shared with his precious wife, who wasn't there. He couldn't work all day because of his behaviour. Every time he got reminded of his terrible treatment towards her, he felt like stabbing himself in the heart and die. She didn't deserve to hear those vile words. So after work, he came to a bar where he used to come often when he used to date Jisoo. To clear his head from her narcissism. But tonight, he was here to clear his head from what he did this morning. Because due to that, he felt like he couldn't sleep tonight.

He didn't know how many glasses he finished already. Maybe two bottles. He didn't know. The man on the other side of the bar wasn't complaining though. He was politely polishing some glasses and filled his glass up whenever it was empty. That's because Seokjin already paid a handsome amount just for drinks.

By now, he was very drunk, to the point his headache was starting to fade away and instead his head filled with nonsensical thoughts such as Yoon Min divorcing him. He whined, ready to cry again and dropped his head on the counter. Just how could he say that to her?

After a few seconds, he felt the seat next to him being taken and it of course made him a little curious to see who it was, be it a stranger or an alien. Especially the familiar luxurious perfume that came from her body. But still he didn't raise his head. He was too tired and too sad to do that.

"I'll have a pina colada, please." The voice was definitely familiar, and not desired. He groaned a sigh and raised his head to check if it was her or not. Once checked, he dropped his head again as if sleeping was a better option than talking to her.

"Yeah, I'm also surprised to find you here, Seokjin." Jisoo replied nonchalantly to his reaction, eyes staring at his exhausted body.

"Leave me alone." He said sternly but his voice was bubbly due to the alcohol.

She scoffed and decided to do what he wanted. Leave him alone, that's what she's been doing the last three years. How hard can some couple of minutes be?

The man gave her a glass and filled it up. Once he stared at her and finally recognized her, he started fan-girling right there and asked for her autograph for his daughter. She signed on his paper quickly and gave him a don't-bother-me look. He happily agreed.

"So...what makes a happily married man come here and finish two bottles of wine like a drunkard?" She put one leg over another and turned to him.

Seokjin didn't answer obviously.

"I might be able to help you, who knows?" She sipped her glass loudly to annoy him.

That tickled his brain. Maybe Jisoo could help him. She's a woman, Yoon Min's a woman. It could happen, right? Or maybe it was his drunken brain speaking.

He raised his head and his fingers played with his glass, desperately wanting it to be filled. He sighed and confessed, "I yelled at Yoon Min."

Jisoo didn't want to but she ended up laughing at his words. When he gave her a look, she immediately defended herself, "Don't look at me like that! Anyone would've laughed in my place."

He sighed again and thought if he should tell her or not. She didn't seem to be the right ear.

"Yell like in a bad way?" She asked curiously.

He nodded his head, "In a very bad way. She was supposed to come today from the orphanage. But she told me she can't and...I was extremely furious for some reason. I told her some things I really shouldn't had...Now I'm so guilty because once she comes back, she'll act like nothing happened. She'll still talk to me and love me but the scar she received from me will never be healed."

"And what is it that you said you really shouldn't had?"

He sighed, this time deeply and closed his eyes, "I-I said...I hate her and I shouldn't have married her."

Jisoo didn't respond immediately. She stared at him for some time blankly and then replied,

"You really shouldn't had said that."

Seokjin looked at her in mere curiosity. The man noticed his empty glass and filled it up again. She sipped the wine from her glass slowly and licked her lower lip.

"That hurts a lot...what you said. Any woman would've gotten hurt if their husband said that."

Now that a ruthless person like her said it, it sounded more true and he couldn't regret more than he did now. He closed his eyes and gulped down his glass at once, his heart ached along with his brain. He never yelled at Yoon Min after their marriage. She never gave him a chance to be mad at her. It must be taking a lot on her, seeing she didn't do anything like that to hear those.

He heard her commenting, "Woah, I thought you guys were in a perfect relationship. Guess nothing is perfect, right? You fight too."

Perfect...He still thought his marriage was perfect. But if anything or anyone ever had flaws, it was him. Not her. He always ruined everything.

If there is a way to control ourselves when we are angry, we would save a lot of things than we think. We can stop ourselves from hurting another person, we can stop destroying things around us, we can still have the chance. If only we had a way...

Seokjin thought it in his head and gulped three more glasses. Each time he put the glass down, he panted, wondering about his mistake and invisible regret. He wanted to run to her, pull her in a tight hug and apologize to her. Carry her to their bed, let her fall asleep inside his embrace and wake her up with another apology. He just wanted to apologize though he knew it couldn't fix her.

"Song Yoon Min..." Jisoo suddenly spoke her name, blankly and gently. It was the first time she ever mentioned her name this way. "She'll forgive you. She already has. She's that kind of fool." She tapped her finger on the counter and the man immediately refilled her glass. She took the wine down her throat at once and said, "So just be a man and apologize properly."

It was a wonderful miracle to see Jisoo speaking like a good person. She fascinated him right now. She didn't taunt him about their broken relationship or didn't make fun of him. She never acted like this. It's true a good heart enchants us more than a charming heart.

Seokjin nodded his head and suddenly felt the need to cry. He covered his eyes and tears rolled down his face gradually. They were confused tears of regret. He regretted his words and behaviour since the second he hung up the call. He was stressed after all with all those overwork and her absence.

When some of his tears dropped on the counter, she noticed them and bit her bottom lip. She never consoled him when she dated him. She only said stuff like why he was crying when he's a man. She knew after their breakup, she was the imperfect one in their relationship and she caused his sorrows and pain. So this time, she knew she had to give him a little consolation and put her hand over his strong back, and gave him a few pats.

What she didn't know that action would be the reason behind a terrible heartbreak.

She saw Seokjin meeting her eyes; his eyes were bloody red and in a second, he wrapped his arms around her and sobbed. She got taken aback by the sudden touch and was out of ideas to react. Should she hug back or stay like this? One thing she realized he was hella drunk and he reeked of alcohol. It gave her answers of why he acted like this.

But the thing he did next was mumble incomprehensible things under his breath and moved his hands to cup her face. Her eyes were widened in surprise but she was kind of liking this close proximity. He stared at her eyes he never did before and it was almost like he was looking at someone else. His gaze felt so loving, so caring. It was no wonder his drunken eyes were mistaking her for his dear wife.

His face was so close her face that she could feel his warm breath and it gave her feelings; feelings she felt years ago. Beautiful, passionate feelings. She started to think this perfect man was once hers and the whole world supported them. But she lost him just like that.

How would it feel to have him back? For one night?

Before she knew it, her mouth was on his, literally holding his face to kiss him the way she wanted. A pang of guilt was shot inside her, but she just had to do this. She just had to have him for a little time. He was hers once before, she wanted him one more time. She didn't care if he belonged to someone else lawfully and rightfully, she didn't care if he had someone else in his heart. Right now, this mattered. She wanted to be the one who gave him her everything.

Unexpected to her and shocking to her, Seokjin didn't retreat. In fact, in a few seconds, he was kissing her back simultaneously. He touched her face and her hair and her shoulders like he meant it. Jisoo didn't know who he was thinking she was. He must be really drunk to be doing this because he definitely wasn't man to betray trust. But it didn't matter to her. She wanted to make this little moment worthy. Make him forget his pain, everything about this goddamn world and take him to a pleasurable dream.

And like that, kisses grew passionate and stronger as both of them hurried to his car and drove to his house to spend the night. A sinful night. For desires are unstoppable when the devil wants it.

When the devil wants it, no power of love or trust can save any pure relationship.
