Chapter 83

The filming was coming to an end nearly. Though it would take almost another week, still this was a good news for Seokjin. At least, he could get rid of Jisoo and never had to see her again. On the other hand, Jisoo delayed her every scene deliberately so that she could stay for a little while more. So that she could at least look at him from a distance and find solace. It's weird how one news can have different responses from people.

It was in the late afternoon when he felt the need to call his secretary and give her a task. As he called her from his landline, she didn’t pick up. He gave it a few more tries, then switched to his phone, but the result was same. Sighing, he made his way out of his office and towards her room. Opening the door without knocking, he was taken aback when he found her room empty. Where did she go?

In the middle of calling her repeatedly, he went around his company asking about her and apparently no one could tell anything useful. Team Leader Kim saw her a few hours ago in the cafeteria and that was all. As if no one even noticed she was absent in the office.

Seokjin grew a little tensed and walked back to his office. His mind was so concentrated on his phone that he walked passed the woman he was ignoring for a couple of days. He took a few more steps ahead when he heard her saying from behind.

“She left early.”

He stopped on his shoes and turned around, stared at her without blinking.

Jisoo added nonchalantly, “I saw her running outside about half an hour ago.”

“That's not right. Why would she leave an hour early without informing me?” He muttered to himself, not expecting an answer from her.

But she had to provoke him with her pestering words. “Perhaps she's seeing another guy?”

Seokjin sighed and lowered his head out of frustration. He couldn’t believe a person had such inappropriate thoughts in her head just for fun.

He didn't feel the need to answer her as it'll only make him look stupid so he turned around and walked again. But he should've guessed she would follow him.

“Heard the news? Our shooting is almost done. You must be happy, right?” For the first time, he was glad she could read his mind.

“Yes, Jisoo. I'm very excited and thrilled about that.”

She scoffed, “You know, I actually thought you would be a little sad since we won't be seeing each other anymore.”

Entering his office, he walked to his desk and answered without looking at her. “I've no reason to be sad.”

Jisoo calmly stood in front of him, watched him clean his desk and take preparation to leave. Maybe he was going to his wife again. She had her arms crossed over her chest, a little smirk appearing on her lips.

“Are you certain about that, Seokjin?”

For some reason, he ended up meeting her gaze blankly.

“You won't have any silent excitement in your body after I'm gone. Your heart won't flutter or cheeks redden, or have your stomach clench with my presence. No more thinking I'm staring at you, no more me desperately wanting you, no more me in your life.” She smirked more to find his silence. “You'll miss all of these unexplained feelings for me.”

Like a bullet in the head, she managed to shoot him where he had no chance of surviving. How did she read him so well? Only Yoon Min could do that. Only she could ever guess what was going on his head. If Jisoo could easily figure out his weakness towards her, did she too?

It shocked him then. Maybe Yoon Min realized him a long time ago but still remained quiet and patient. Maybe she figured out he did have something left for Jisoo whether it was resentment or desire, but she still trusted him. She always trusted him more than anyone.

Overwhelmed by various feelings together, Seokjin dominated her by his cold words.

“Look Jisoo, it’s time for you to stop acting like a child. A spoiled kid on top of that. You won't always have what you want. Whatever we had is over so there's no point in having this talk. You should move on like me. You'll find--"

“You moved on? Admit it Kim Seok Jin, you still have feelings for me. Maybe they are too little to be acknowledged, but I can see it in your eyes.” Jisoo seemed confident.

That's why, he shouldn’t use the gentle tone with her. She never listened.

“I'm not asking much. You won't have to tell your wife. We can spend some time alone. It's nothing serious...”

Seokjin wanted to gasp at her shameless offer. He immediately wanted to leave and get away from her. “You're sick, Jisoo.” He walked out of his office quickly, leaving her there.

While driving his car, he couldn’t take his thoughts off Jisoo. He should be worried over Yoon Min but her sly look and attraction were a bit too hard to focus away. Because he knew so well he felt something for her, something wrongful.

One knows himself the best. That's how he knew Jisoo had an effect on him. And it shamed him more when he knew the effect wasn’t love or hatred, rather craving and hunger. That was all he felt for her. He wanted to kill himself every time he thought of her that way. How more pathetic he could become? He was married to a precious wife who loved him back in every way he did. Then why? Why did he have to feel this way towards his ex-girlfriend?

On top of that, Jisoo wasn’t silent in her place. Since the previous months, she had been giving him gestures and expressions too, maybe those turned him on. Everything was making him disgusted at himself.

So he wanted her to go away from his life as soon as possible. Feared of betraying Yoon Min and his own heart, he thus got furious and yelled at Jisoo to vent his locked desperation on her. He knew he was wrong. But the only way to fix this was push her out of his boundaries way too far.

Seokjin reached their home soon after some time. He parked his car in their garage and made his way inside.

“Yoon Min?” He called out her name once he was in the living room. “Are you home?”

Receiving no response, he made his way towards their bedroom because sometimes they couldn’t hear one another since their house was large, spacious enough to be called a penthouse. Quickening his pace, he opened the door and looked inside.

A wave of relief drowned his body when he found her sleeping on the bed. He really thought something happened to her.

He walked inside and scanned her more. She didn’t change her dress from work. As if she came home and went straight to bed. And it was weird to be sleeping at a time like this. It was almost evening and she didn’t even tell him she was leaving early. Something was definitely wrong.

Seokjin sat on the edge of their bed and that little movement broke her nap because she slowly opened her eyes. Surprised to find him, she only gave a weak smile before closing her eyes again.

“Yoonie, you okay? What happened?” He asked gently, reaching to hold her hand.

She nodded her head and replied softly, “I'm sorry I didn’t tell you I left early.”

“It's fine. I was worried. I called you so many times.” He didn’t forget to check her pale face. “Are you sick? Is something wrong?”

Yoon Min then proceeded to sit on the bed, hair tangled in a short amount of time. Her gaze was lowered and she looked sad, broken mostly. With a soft voice, she told him,

“I just got a call from the orphanage. Mr. Choi...died.”

Seokjin's eyes widened, lips parted away and it didn’t take him long to hover on the bed and take her in his arms. “Oh my God, I'm sorry, love. I'm so sorry.” He pulled her head to rest on his chest while wrapped an arm around her to hug her sympathetically.

She wasn’t crying though. Maybe she already did. Maybe that's why she came home early after receiving that shocking news. He knew how much she loved the orphanage though she lived a hell life there. And Mr. Choi was like a fatherly figure to her. She respected and loved him in the same manner.

Yoon Min was silent for a minute. Then she opened up, “I'm okay. It just took a troll on me at work.”

He nodded his head. He wanted her to cry in front of him but he couldn’t force her.

“The funeral's tomorrow. I wanted to go.” She whispered softly, as if she was asking for his permission.

“Of course, Yoonie. I'll go with you. Don't worry about anything.”

She pulled herself away from him and said, “No, Jin. I want you to stay here.”

Being taken aback, he stared at her, “What, why?”

“You need to supervise the company right now. The shooting is finishing soon so there will be reporters asking for interviews with you too. I heard Tom Cruise will be staying at our hotel, and that is definitely a huge thing for us. So I'm not letting you come with me.”

Even after hearing everything, he whined, “No way! I'm coming with you! I can't let you go alone.”

Yoon Min smiled a little at his behaviour. “I'll be fine, Jin. I've visited the orphanage many times without you.”

“Yeah but this time, it's different. Besides, we can put Mr. Joo on charge while we're gone. Nothing's gonna happen.”

They bickered the next minutes arguing on this topic. Yoon Min basically didn’t want him to come because she thought it would be too much for him and she didn’t want to burden him. And the company needed him so she genuinely thought it's better for him to stay. But Seokjin will never let her go alone.

At one point, she whined, “I'll be gone for probably five days. Think about it. We can't leave our business at a crucial time like this. You're the CEO. You need to stay, Jin. Listen to me.”

“I know! But I just can't leave you...”

She scooted closer to him and hugged his waist. “I'll be fine. Trust me. I'm grateful anyway that you offered to come.”

Seokjin sighed and gave up. Both of them were right in their own places. She thought of their company before herself, showing her dedication as his secretary. But as his wife who would want him to come, she hid that side. He wasn’t exactly sure if he should stay or go with her.

Five days without her would feel like five months.

“Yoonie~”

Yoon Min sighed for the tenth time, ignored her husband practically clinging to her body while she was packing her luggage the next morning. She could've done it quicker if he wasn't back-hugging her like a koala.

“Do you really have to go?” He pouted and asked for the millionth time.

Receiving her silence, he whined, “I won't be able to live without you! You know that!”

She had to let a little chuckle out.

Finally finishing packing, she changed her dress and stood in front of the mirror. While Seokjin was playing with his fingers with a huge pout as if his cuteness would change her mind.

“I can drive you there myself, you know?”

“It's alright. The train takes less time. You should be happy that I'm letting you drive me to the subway at least.” She replied.

They took their own car to the subway station. Yoon Min didn’t want Seokjin to waste a minute on her. Especially in a time, when he needed to be at work. He shouldn’t sacrifice his career for the sake of her, that's ridiculous.

They arrived 10 minutes early and did the necessary steps to get on the train. After that, they waited in the platform with other people also waiting for the train. Most of them were busy looking at their devices or talking on the phone.

Yoon Min glanced at Seokjin who was still wearing a sad mask. It broke her heart into tiny pieces.

“Jin, don't do this to me. How am I supposed to leave if you look like this?” She faced him and cupped his cheeks.

He murmured, “Now you're finally noticing. Thank you very much.”

She breathlessly chuckled, “Hey, I'll be back before you can realize it. Enjoy some time without your ugly wife.”

“Does my ugly wife know she looks like an angel to me?” Capturing the opportunity, he sneaked his arms around her waist. And planted a kiss on her forehead. “I know I'm being silly but I really am gonna feel your absence after thirty minutes. You're always around my eyes, it'll be hard.”

She blinked and replied, “You'll be busy with work. You'll hardly think of me.”

“What about you? You won't miss me?”

“Probably a lot more than you, but I can manage.”

They continued talking sweetly when they heard the train coming. Everyone around them were alerted along with them. In a few minutes, the high speed train slowly stopped in front of them, the doors automatically opened with the air-conditioning air coming out a little.

Yoon Min saw people getting on the train so she detached herself from his hold and rambled, “Okay, time to go. Don't forget to take your pills and check the expiration date of foods in the fridge. I organised your schedules and put them on your desk so you won't have a hard time hopefully. Most importantly, take care of yourself. Eat properly, drink a lot of water and take enough rest. Don't play games too--”

Her speech wasn’t coming to an end sooner as he thought so he decided to finish her words by pressing his lips on hers, which took her by surprise but eventually she returned it with the same amount of love and emotion. Their eyes closed sensually and none of them knew that both closed their eyes, only to fight the tears from falling. They weren’t teenagers or newly lovers, now both were adults with responsibilities. Crying over a goodbye didn’t sound good.

Seokjin proceeded to hug her, pulled her hard against his chest. She repeated his action by wrapping her arms around him tightly, taking in his scent that will have to satisfy her for the next days. He pressed a gentle kiss into her hair and whispered,

“Just come back to me quickly.”

She nodded her head and smiled faintly. It wasn’t a request, it was a plead from him.

When she realized people brushing them as they passed them in a hurry, she realized the track of time and said, “Um...Jin? You can let me go now.”

He didn’t respond.

“Jin?”

“What if I don't?”

“Oh my God! Help! Someone--” Yoon Min tried pushing him away while laughing. “I'm gonna miss the train, you fool! Let me go.”

A few people glanced at their side due to their own mischief.

Seokjin finally let her go with a smile. She wasted no time before grabbing her luggage and murmured a "Bye” and ran inside the train. The door closed right after she entered. He must've held her off too long.

But Yoon Min forgot to do something. Something extremely important. So she opened the window next to the door and yelled,

“I love you!”

Seokjin was taken aback by her boldness as he started coughing with pink cheeks. This woman will be the reason behind his heart attack one day.

The train started moving in a minute. He held out his hand and waved at the train, as if he was waving goodbye to her. Slowly but quickly, it disappeared into the tunnel; his heart immediately ached thinking of her.

He whispered lowly, wishing the breeze might take his letter to her, “I love you too.”
