Chapter 78
14.02.2022
The world recognized the date as Valentine's Day. An anticipating day for the genuine lovers. They celebrate their relationship proudly and have fun spending the day with each other. At the end of the day, they make a promise not to let their tie break. They promise each other to keep the spark alive every day.
But for Seokjin, it wasn’t Valentine's Day anymore. The days of sending Jisoo truck of red roses on this day were over. Now 14th February was going to be the most important day of his whole life. This was the day he found out why he was born. This beautiful day was going to be his wedding. He was going to marry the most wonderful woman in the world and he was ready to be her husband. To him, this wasn’t the day he would show her far-away dreams; but this was the day he would make her dreams come true.
Taking a look at the full-length mirror, he found his lips curving upwards by the light of his good-looks. White dress shirt tucked under an eye-catching ash suit with a tiny bouquet of white flowers pressed to his chest, he looked dashing. He could confidently say he was the most handsome groom the world had ever witnessed. Chuckling, he brushed his hand over his black hair to fix it a little, then took a look at the clock.
It was time to meet his bride.
The mere thought of her weakened his knees, nervousness growing shamelessly as each second passed. What would he do when he sees her? Would he be able to stay sane and control himself? What if she looked so beautiful that he would want to marry her again and again?
Seokjin only smiled at his thoughts and exited his room.
Their wedding was held privately and arranged in a short amount of time. Literally there were no guests, no glamorous decorations, nothing. It was only him and her, maybe a few helpers who decorated their garden. No person could say this was the wedding of the famous businessman Kim Seok Jin, they guessed his wedding would be the wedding of the century with his ex-girlfriend. None of them saw the twist of fate. Here he was, a small wedding with a simple woman.
He made his way to her dressing room with a nervous heart. God knew how long his heart was throbbing inside his chest. Now he was even scared to see her.
Right that moment, two girls who were her stylists came out of the room with their girly giggles and got startled to see him. It was obvious the girls were starstruck by his beauty and charm. One of them even gasped slightly. They were already whining mentally about why they couldn’t find a handsome man like him. Clearing her throat, one of the girls came back to her senses and blurted out,
“She's ready, Sir. You can go inside.”
Seokjin nodded with a shy smile and the girls quickly left the place, murmuring about their bad luck. With a heavy exhale, he prepared himself and entered the room.
Breathtaking was the only word he could find to define how she looked right now.
Yoon Min turned around slowly and flashed a smile. She didn’t know how her simple white gown bounced in the air and pooled around her legs, her long veil brushed over her light brown hair in the sunlight made her look like a fairy. She didn’t even wear a necklace or earrings, yet she looked gorgeous. It was her true beauty that was enhancing her, and touched his heart. Even her beautiful, pure face that resembled the moon had light makeup. And the bouquet of white flowers she was holding was the same as his one.
Seokjin's felt like if he died the next minute, he won't have any regrets because he saw her already. Upon seeing her, not only raised the acceleration of his heartbeat, but also the warm tickling sensation in his stomach. His eyes were locked with hers, unable to break away anyhow. He could stare at her forever, not just now. He could do everything to see her like this again and again. And the fact made him more happy that she was dressed like this only for him. She was going to be his wife.
“Look at you--” He let out only this far and walked to her slowly, a palm covering his shocked mouth.
She raised her chin a bit and bragged, followed by a giggle, “Don't I look like Mrs. Kim?”
“You look gorgeous. N-no, more than that. You look so beautiful, Yoon Min. I didn’t know I could ever see you like this.” There were proud tears in his eyes that were refusing to fall.
Yoon Min blushed at his words and quickly changed the topic, “But look, someone looks too handsome that my insides are flipping right now.”
He chuckled softly and cupped her left cheek to look at her properly. Every part of her looked extraordinary. How could she look so beautiful? This was illegal.
“Stop staring, mister. I'm already too red just by having you in front of me.” Though she said that, she didn’t really want him to stop caressing her.
“I think I won't be able to keep my eyes off you for a second.” He closed his eyes and his forehead came in touch with hers.
Yoon Min loved him for making her heart go nuts over small things. They stayed like that quietly for a good minute, inhaling each others' scents, feeling warmth of their presence. Marriage was the best gift they could give each other. An everlasting memory.
After a while, he took her hand and stared at it, “I'm nervous.” He said with a concerned tone. “I'm happy, yes...actually I'm ecstatic for this. But I'm still nervous. Is this normal?”
She blinked and nodded her head. “We can do this. We can go through this. As long as we have each other, we'll be alright, Seokjin.”
Finding comfort in her words, he wanted to kiss her but he didn’t know how he stopped himself then. He smiled and put a strand of hair behind her hair.
“Ready?”
“As I'll ever be.”
When they stepped out in their backyard, Yoon Min gasped at ethereal scenary in front of her. White; everything was white. There were white flowers of different kinds, white scented candles glowing, white balloons and ribbons fluttering around the garden trees. The color suit with the nature so well. She had a big smile on her face as she glanced at Seokjin.
A pleasant breeze from the north rustled in the surrounding shrubs when both of them took their first step on the pathway. They took it as their aisle. It looked charming in petals of wildflowers and green grasses. Lining their aisle were baskets full of seasonal flowers, their natural scents brightening the mood. Paper lanterns hung from the branches, rocking against the breeze.
At the end of the decorated pathway, there awaiting them was the pastor under the beautiful gazebo. The floral touch done there was eye-catching. He had a peaceful smile on his lips, with a book in his hands.
They walked to the gazebo gradually, step by step; reminding them the importance of this day. Finally, they stood before the pastor with a trembling smile, clearly obvious how nervous they were. A classical music was fading closer around them.
The pastor asked with a smile, “Lighten up, both of you. You're getting married!”
His advice seemed to earn a chuckle out from the couple. If there were families, friends, close ones cheering for them today, they wouldn’t had been so restless. They needed some sort of comforting words.
He cleared his throat and fixed his eyes on the book, “We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate an act of deep love. Kim Seok Jin & Song Yoon Min; in their devotion, respect, and love for each other wish to unite in the holy bond of marriage, and to dedicate themselves to each other's happiness and well‑being as life mates and partners. On behalf of--”
As the pastor continued his words, Seokjin could feel his bride's hand tightening around his arm as a sign of her anxiety. He glanced at her with a smile, and magically his gaze comforted her so she replied back another smile. They belonged to each other; and, no matter what life might hold for them, it could never alter that.
After some time, he looked at them and said, “And now, the groom and bride will recite their vows.”
“Oh my God, is it already now?” The groom let out a nervous chuckle, his ears turning red.
The pastor softly smiled, “Don't think about me. Just pretend I'm not here.” He even raised his hands to surrender. Yoon Min chuckled sweetly and looked at her groom with caring eyes.
Seokjin was fidgeting the folded paper in his hands, which contained lines from his romantic heart. Though he didn’t look like it, his heart was beating so fast right now with the thought of whether she'll like them or not. He stayed up all night writting these vows, even took help from the internet; he was nervous for his own hard works.
With a brave exhale, he flipped the page open and met her eyes. First thing he did was let out a chuckle and informed, “I uh... couldn’t memorize everything so I'm just gonna read it out loud. But I give you my word every single word here is from my heart.”
Yoon Min nodded with an exciting smile.
He nibbled at his lower lip and began to say, “Yoon Min, you came into my life at exactly the right time. When I wasn't ready, when I was battling with a fake woman. You appeared before me right when I needed your love. During the past years, I've come to realize that I feel more connected with you than anyone. Wherever I am, I feel at home when I have you with me. Now it is impossible for me to put into words how agonizing and hurting every moment feels without you. So I start with this promise that I will be beside you for all of eternity from now on. Some days will be easy, some days will be unbearably hard. But like you said, as long as we're together, we can do anything. I promise to cherish and respect you, care for you and protect you, comfort you and love you. You've made me the happiest man in the world today by agreeing to share your life with me. For that, I'm thankful and I promise with all my heart and soul to honor my vow.”
By then, she already had proud tears beaming in her beautiful eyes, which made the pastor chuckle slightly.
“Aigoo...does the bride need a tissue? Surely your man can speak some heart touching lines.”
She shook her head boldly but a few tears dropped down her cheeks shamefully. Immediately lowering her head to hide her unsightly face, she couldn’t possibly imagine how he thought of her and wrote down those amazing words. He loved her with his everything, did she really deserve him?
Her soft cries were interrupted by Seokjin who cupped her cheeks and cooed, “Aww I didn’t guess my bride will cry after hearing me. I would've kept it short and emotionless otherwise.”
He received a weak punch in the chest from her, “S-stop. It was perfect. I loved it. Really.”
Between their lovey-dovey moment, the pastor cleared his throat which caused the groom to back away instantly, embarrassed.
“You can have her all to yourself after we get this wedding done, Mr. Kim. Now can we hear our beautiful bride recite her vows?”
Yoon Min wiped her eyes quickly and took a deep breath. Unlike him, she decided long ago what she would say as the lines were full of her true feelings. So she didn’t have to bring a paper. Rather she looked at him and smiled a little.
“Seok Jin, I can't say I fell in love at first-sight with you. I didn’t know when it began, but it was soon after you saved me at the orphanage. Back then, I met a perfect man who loves me and completes me in ways I never knew possible. What I thought I couldn’t have, is right here in front of me today. Today, I'm madly in love with you, I even love your jokes though I hate to admit it. So I give you my heart without hesitation. I know it'll be bruised at times by the chaos of life but it'll also know happiness. From this day forth, you will hold my heart in your hands and my life is forever entangled with yours. With this, I promise to listen to you, learn from you and support you. I will celebrate your successes and mourn your losses as though they were my own. I promise to be your friend and guardian in every step of way. I promise to do my best to be the most dependable person of your life. I promise to love you for a lifetime. And I promise with all my heart and soul to honor this vow.”
She received a smile from him, but it wasn’t an ordinary smile; it was a smile that is seen in a million years. A smile that showed her he was over the clouds to have her in his life, a smile as enchanting as magic, a smile that healed her wounds of her past. By that smile, she knew she was able to make him proud.
“Wonderful, dear.” The pastor spoke up with a smile. “Now please face each other and take each other’s hands for the exchanging of rings.”
As they proceeded to hold hands, he brought an elegant box that contained two rings inside.
“These are the hands that will give you support and encouragement to chase down your dreams. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years. So do not ever let of each others' hands, as losing each other will mean losing your other half.” he said.
They nodded and Seokjin was the first one to take the ring out. With a cheeky smile, he slid the ring on her finger and exclaimed, “It actually fits!”
She giggled at his cuteness. Then she took out the other ring and slowly placed it on his finger. Only she knew how her heart was beating powerfully inside her chest.
The pastor asked next, “Do you, Kim Seok Jin, take Song Yoon Min as your lawful wife, to have and keep, in sickness and in health, for worse and better, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?”
“I do.” Seokjin replied confidently.
“And do you, Song Yoon Min, take Kim Seok Jin as your lawful husband, to have and keep, in sickness and in health, for worse and better, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?”
“Yes, I do.” Yoon Min replied without hesitation.
Now they stood closer to each other, admiring the beauty and perfection of each other. The stars in their eyes and the soul of their love. They wanted to hear them married as quick as possible, because let's be honest, they were meant to tie the knot together.
The pastor finally closed the book and took a step back. With a relieved smile, he gladly announced, “In the name of one and only Lord, I now pronounce you: husband and wife. May God bless you both. Congratulations.” He glanced at Seokjin, “You may kiss your bride.”
Till death do us apart...
That day, the sun was dancing joyously along with the fluffy clouds, and the breeze was like the gift from nature. She only ever found infinite love and warmth in his mesmerizing eyes. As she felt his breath slowly fanning over her face, she couldn’t hold the excitement, the bursting happiness locked inside. And finally, his perfect lips came in contact with hers; it was a brush against each other at first; then slowly their lips danced softly, moved in harmony, signified the union of their marriage.
There were various feelings transmitted into the delightful kiss; a lifelong lasting love, forgiveness to the past and million promises for their destined future. In their kiss, they felt their heartbeats joining into one immortal song, which was written by their feelings.
“I love you.” Seokjin confessed after parting away, shocking the other. It was the first time he actually uttered that special sentence and believe me, she couldn't be more happy.
Feeling overwhelmed in a short amount of time, tears ran down her cheeks heavily as she barely managed to answer the same, “I love you, Seokjin.” She wrapped her hand behind his neck to pull him closer, until his forehead touched with hers; a touch of deep love.
“Forevermore...” She whisperd, closing her eyes in serene peace.
He took her hand and put that on his chest. And she felt his every heartbeat, as if a promise, his soul made with hers. His eyes closed on their own as he whispered back, “Forevermore.”
And it was finally official. They were married. They finally could claim each other rightfully, call each other husband-wife, spend the rest of their life bounded by this relationship. It seemed perfect, flawless, it seemed like fate. They were so sure of it. Their love couldn't cross any limits.
Somehow, everything felt like a fairytale to them. But not just any fairytale but a simple tale of love. In that tale, he felt her heart beating inside his ribcage and she felt his blood running through her veins. In that tale, he was called Seokjin and he loved a woman named Yoon Min. Nothing could change this idea. Nothing. They were going to make this work together.
