Chapter 72

"Ms. Kim did...all that?"

Shock was drawn on Yoon Min's face, her eyes popping out of her sockets.

Seokjin gave a slight nod to her question without looking at her. He was sitting on the couch of the guest room, while she was in the small kitchen, making coffee. No night is ever complete without a mug of hot coffee.

"But how did she manage to do all of that?" She wondered, stirring the spoon slowly.

"Well apparently, Jisoo only instructed and paid Yeji to do everything. She was clever about it." Seokjin was still upset at his girlfriend.

Yoon Min honestly never expected Jisoo to end up doing something like that. It was always obvious she hated her, but she didn't imagine she could take this on a serious level. Plotting against her, planning out and even prosecuting everything...just to push her away from her boyfriend? Wow.

She really must've guessed her feelings.

Shaking her head to get rid off these head aching thoughts, she focused on making the coffee for them. She actually insisted to offer him dinner but he mostly wanted to take her back home tonight. But as she couldn't just leave suddenly, they decided to leave together tomorrow. They could spend the night here.

After making two mugs of coffee, she walked to him and gave one before sitting next to him comfortably. Coffee was something, maybe the only nice food she could make by herself. Otherwise, she would either burn or add extra salt like an idiot. The best and perfect cook was Seokjin. Sometimes he looked so professional when it came to cooking.

But now he wasn't drinking the coffee. And his action almost made her doubt herself. He seemed to be thinking something deeply.

"What's wrong?" Yoon Min asked softly, earning his attention.

Seokjin let out a tired sigh before gripping the mug tightly and confessed, "I'm gonna breakup with her."

She blinked once, then twice. No word escaped from her mouth. Although she wasn't as surprised as she thought she would be, she was mostly taken aback by his strong confession. Was he really going to do it? Will he be able to?

"CEO Kim, are you sur--"

"I'm certain that I wasn't happy being her partner. I made myself believe I was, because I was scared to lose her. I really disliked her personality and her improper way of treating you. I spoiled her too much and ignored her faults." He said straight without breathing.

"If I continue this relationship after realizing everything, I think I won't be able to forgive myself. I-I can't do that anymore. I need to end this relation." He inhaled a deep breath. "I'm done with her."

Yoon Min listened attentively. Sure she would've loved that, but she was a little scared if she was getting ahead of herself. Breaking a longtime relationship wasn't something to play around. And the last thing she wanted was any of them to regret their decision.

But if she thought carefully, Jisoo wasn't the right one for him. She cared for herself too much to think about others' problems, let alone treating her boyfriend the way he deserved. It was all one-sided, he was the one trying every single, hopeless way to save their toxic bond while she was busy presenting herself to the world.

Yes, he should break up.

Pressing her lips together, she suddenly had this mischievous thinking in her head, she slowly creped her hand behind his elbow to place her hand over his. Seokjin was brought back from his serious, deep thoughts and focused his gaze on their hands. Without any objection, he eventually wrapped his hand around hers tightly before resting them on his lap. A small smile fluttered on their lips as they began to think nothing in life could stop them from now on since they've truly found out each others' feelings.

Their intertwined hands were the first start of their own love story.

--------------------

"Stop kidding. You can't call that a date."

Yoon Min furrowed her eyebrows, "Yes, it was. We went out together."

"So? You call those dates? Let's see...did you two hold hands?" Seokjin asked with a cheesy smirk, since he was aware of the answer.

She blinked a few times before replying, "No?"

"You didn't do stuff like wiping others' lips with a tissue after eating ice-cream?"

When both of them thought the ride back home would be super silent and awkward, they actually found themselves arguing on a cute topic. Which was whether the times Song Kang and Yoon Min went out together could be called dates or not. It was fun and teasing.

"Um...no."

"Did you even want to go on a date with him?"

Now that he mentioned it, she did realize she only ever agreed to go out with Song Kang in order to move on from Seokjin, to show him she too can have some fun with a guy. But she couldn't tell him that.

"Of course! Who wouldn't want to go out with that tall, handsome, cute guy? I still want to pinch his cheeks and pet his fluffy hair." She giggled.

Seokjin widened his eyes and deliberately steered the car carelessly for a second so that she could bump her head to a window. And she even did.

"Ow, did you do that intentionally?" Yoon Min lashed at him, gritting her teeth.

"Me? No. I'm a good guy. I may not be a tall, handsome, cute guy whose cheeks you might want to pinch and pet his fluffy hair; but I don't go around being jealous of my woman talking about another man." He casually replied with a mysterious smile.

Yoon Min's cheeks reddened at his direct flirt and pressed her lips together from preventing a smile. She looked away and bit her lower lip in excitement, thinking to stay quiet for the time being.

After they had arrived in their apartment, he was parking his car in their garage. It was early in the evening so the air around them felt a bit chilly since the first snow had fallen yesterday.

Yoon Min first got out of the car before him and took her bags with her. "For the last time, they were dates! I had a wonderful time with Kang-ssi back then."

He scoffed loudly to make her hear him, "If you really wanna know what dates are, then you're in luck! Cuz you've got the most romantic man in the world to teach you." He was still inside his car, looking for his wallet.

"No, thank you. I'm not inte--"

Seokjin looked at her when he heard her closing her words in the middle. He followed her eye gaze quickly and soon found out the reason behind her sudden silence. His hand that was gripping the steering wheel tightened more to see her presence.

Jisoo was standing at a distance.

He immediately got out of the car and shut the door. Taking a deep breath, the first thing he did was grab Yoon Min's hand and then walked forward with her. A new sense of confidence was felt within him so he believed in himself and his choices. Yoon Min on the other hand was scared and nervous. She didn't know what she would say to Jisoo or how she would act in front of her. But seeing Seokjin doing everything by himself, she had no choice but follow him.

As they continued walking towards her, Jisoo noticed them and immediately had a change of expression, it was an expression of relief and joy together. She was about to run towards her boyfriend, even took two-three large steps, but once her eyes caught their hands intertwined in a strong hold, she stopped automatically and took some seconds to take in the view.

Seokjin intentionally stopped in front of her, not scared or anxious like he used to be. In fact if he could, he wouldn't hesitate to call for a breakup right now. But he was patient and kind. He wanted both of them to end this relationship in good terms. So that no misunderstandings arise in the future.

There was a tension around the three of them, one was burning with anger and jealousy, another was confused and the other one was confident and fearless. The heavy silence was broken by none other than Jisoo,

"Y-You really brought her back?" Her teeth were gritted together.

Yoon Min could've bashed out on her, but at that moment, she was unable to think straight. So she let his girlfriend treat her like a worm again.

Seokjin breathed silently and took a soft look at her, "Yoon Min, will you give us a few minutes alone, please?"

She glanced at him surprisedly but nodded eventually. She should leave them alone, it was for the best.

"You've gone insane, aren't you?" Jisoo spoke once the secretary was out of their sight. She seemed like she hadn't slept last night.

Seokjin was calm with his approach, "What're you doing here?"

"What do you think I was doing? I've been waiting for you here since you left! And now that you finally come back, you bring her with you. Tell me if there is any common sense left in your head at all! Why would you--"

"Jisoo..." He called her name sternly, no love was there in his voice.

She became silent upon his call. It was actually that moment she noticed how cold his stare looked, how his voice was bitter, how he seemed like he was gonna say something really hurtful. And then she realized she messed up big.

"We..." He trailed off, looking down at his feet. "Let's break up."

Jisoo blinked once, then twice; her heart skipped a few beats in fear. She never imagined he would ever use that sentence. She never even thought he could ever have this courage. Her lips parted away in pure shock and her eyes couldn't look away from his face.

She let out a breathless chuckle in disbelief, "Yah, do you hear yourself? What the hell are you talk--"

"I'm not messing with you. I'm completely in my right mind." He interrupted her. "W-We both know this wasn't gonna work out. We didn't value each other the way we deserved and we made mistakes. We were both tormented in this dreamless love."

Shaking her head, she raised her voice and spoke quickly, "No! How dare you think of breaking up with me? I-I admit I was wrong in some places and I...overreacted. I wasn't paying enough attention to you. But this doesn't mean we've to end this."

Seokjin sighed and realized this might take some time to convince her. He spoke calmly, "Do you really think I'm breaking up with you because you didn't spend much time with me?"

Receiving her expected silence, he continued, "This isn't about our time or the mistakes you made. This was about every time we had a fight between us and I was the one trying to fix it. Every time you left, I begged you to stay but you never listened. D-Do you know how hard it was for me to act normal after whatever happened? Do you know how tough it was to go back after what you did?" He licked his lower lip. "Honestly you know...deep down, I always wanted us to have a large fight, a fight that could actually bring an end to our relationship so that I don't have to go around chasing you, leaving my dignity."

Jisoo would never admit everything was her fault. But she was willing to apologize to make him stay,

"I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry; I said it twice and you know how hard it is for me to say it...but I-I said it so...please forgive me."

This wasn't common from her. This was something totally surprising. Jisoo apologizing was a scene that will come in a millions years. But somehow, he wasn't moved by her apology, not anymore. His heart already belonged to someone else, someone more rightful.

She licked her lips and added, "Look, I was born this way. I can't change myself for you. I can't hurt my ego, my self-esteem for you. I can't do all these. I know you did for me...but I can't, I don't know how to. I thought you would understand but seeing you acting this way, it makes me sick. But still I'm willing to save our relationship, Seokjin. Please let us start over again."

Seokjin lowered his gaze on the ground, breathing softly. He found himself speaking softly,

"You know there comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. And in the end, you learn who is fake, who is true and who would risk it all for you." His voice was low but sure. "I've come to realize I don't have to try harder for someone who never tries. I don't have to waste my time on someone who gives me no effort."

Then he looked at her, "Jisoo, whatever we had can't be called Love or something worth to remember. Looking back at our memories, all I can remember is my limitless efforts to satisfy you, my hidden pain, my longing for someone else. I can write a hundreds of poems about you, yet you can't write one sentence about me; even you did, we both know it would be a lie. I just wish I had walked away when I met you and ended things at Hello."

She was being taken aback by the power of his words, stuck in the moment to find better words. She was losing to him before she knew it.

"So before we both make a mistake and drag this emotionless relation further, I want us to stop. Let's stop pretending we care for each other, let's stop thinking we're in love, let's stop whatever we had. I know we'll be so much happy without each other, we'll be free."

Jisoo shook her head, and believe it or not, her eyes were stinging, "N-No..." But she was an actress. And that's what people doubts about an actress's honesty. "Don't say that...please don't."

He took another deep breath and explained, "I don't regret you, Jisoo. Because of you, I've learnt a great lesson of my life and learned to recognize who actually cares and loves me. You'll always hold the title of my first love; though I'm unsure whether my feelings for you were true love or not."

"Stop....please, Seokjin. Why can't you...just look at me the way you look at h-her?"

Her question caught him off-guard. But he knew the answer so he answered with a faint smile, "Maybe because she's the one for me and I truly love her."

Jisoo didn't know what to do anymore. She didn't know what she was feeling. Wronged? Accused? Angry? Upset? Guilty? As if all emotions were bursting out from her heart at that moment. She didn't imagine a shining wannabe like her could also be rejected.

She was wrong after all.

"I'm sorry, Jisoo. It's too late now. Thank you for everything." Saying that, Seokjin showed her a tiny, faint smile before walking pass her, leaving her like a nobody.

And she knew. She knew even if she tried, even if she turned around and called his name, even if she apologized a thousand times and changed herself, she would lose him forever. She lost him to an ordinary girl who had nothing. She lost such a person whose place can never be filled by someone else.

She lost him.

Seokjin exhaled a large breath once he was inside the elevator. He couldn't believe he just did that. A grin appeared in his face as he patted himself mentally for doing a good job.

Once the doors slid open, he was greeted by the face of a worried Yoon Min who was supposedly waiting for him there. Finding him, she gasped slightly and walked to him before scanning his whole face as if he came back from a war.

"Sir? Are you alright? What happened?"

He answered with a smile, "It's done. We're no longer together."

Yoon Min's smile increased slowly that melted his heart. Finally he could be with the person he wanted to be. His home; his sweetest home.

"Yoon Min?" He suddenly called her name, a mischievous smile hiding behind his lips.

Once she hummed in response, he actually asked her that,

"Should we...go on a date?"
