Chapter 7
A pinch of realization hit her as she was completely in utter dilemma. Holding her long breath, she turned around, keeping her position same as before.
“Jin Seonbae?”
He immediately flinched seeing her looking at him and stepped two steps away from her. He looked more surprised than her. There's a specific way of him being shocked. That is he really looked like a joker when surprised. He had the exact same reaction as her except he looked more cute and way more speechless than her.
Yoon Min didn’t know what made him so surprised like that.
He was frozen for a moment, ice in his veins. His eyes narrowed as he stared at her head to toe. The look in his eyes made her confused; as if he didn’t know her. Or he didn’t expect her here. There were many expressions on his face which is why she couldn’t judge what thought was lingering inside his mind. Now the fact she was eavesdropping two people's personal conversation wasn’t something so much to reveal, so she stood still waiting for him to ask her a question or make the next move.
But seconds passed, yet his eyes were staring at her in a mysterious way. He was scanning each and every part of her body again and again which was a bit uncomfortable. Yoon Min knew if she let him stare at her like that, he might never answer the question she was wanting to ask. So she decided to bring him back to his sense,
“Seonbae? What're you doing here?
She was a little scared if he would ask her back the same question as it was obvious for anyone to question her action of eavesdrop. Seokjin moved his gaze to her eyes, they were soft; his eyes. She blinked twice and repeated his name again as he wasn’t responding to her.
He finally after a long minute asked her something she didn’t see coming.
“Y-You can see me?”
“Guardian Yoon Min!”
She heard a soft voice calling her.
“Wake up already, will you?”
Yoon Min shot open her eyes and let out a silent gasp. The moment she opened her eyes, she clutched her eyebrows together in disbelief. She was still laying against the tree trunk where she was a while ago. Her eyes felt heavy as if she woke up from a sleep, and it was night-time already. The stars were sparkling brightly along with the various clouds and purple rays were painting on the sky. The light breeze gave her shivers down her body.
“G-guardian Yoon Min?”
His voice drew her attention and she raised her eyes to look at him, the fear and confusion on her face still remained.
It was Beomgyu.
“G-Guardian Beomgyu?” her voice sounded a bit harsh and low.
He nodded and said, “It's night already. You shouldn’t sleep out here.”
Sleep? When did she sleep?
“Was I sleeping a minute ago?” she asked with quite concern and curiosity.
Beomgyu was taken aback by her question but gave her a positive answer, “Yeah. I found you sleeping when I came back from Earth.”
She moved her gaze away from him and looked at nowhere. Her head was dizzy with some weight. Nothing was fitting. When did she sleep? After Beomgyu left for Earth, she went to the white bridge where she met Myeong Jo, Jimin and Jin. The memory of that moment however wasn’t so clear. It didn’t have an ending. She let out an “Ugh” and groaned in frustration.
Why couldn’t she remember what happened after? And how come she was sleeping? She clearly remembered she saw Jimin and Myeong Jo arguing and Seokjin behind her back. Speaking of which, that's where it ended. He said something odd and then she woke up. Woke up means she found herself back at the tree. Was she really dreaming? Why everything felt so real?
“Hello? Earth to Yoon Min?”
Beomgyu's voice made her look at him. He couldn’t figure out her problem. She looked quite uneasy. Well, it was surprising for him to find her sleeping under the tree where he left her and now she was acting weird?
“Are you okay? You seem so lost.”
Yoon Min shook her head, “N-no, I must've fallen asleep. And I dreamt of everything...”
He raised his eyebrows, “Dreamt about...what?”
She shook her head and mouthed a “Nothing” before standing up on her feet. It was clear she was hiding something from him but he chose to ignore it.
“Come on, let's go to the party.”
Yoon Min looked at him blankly, “What party?”
“Ah, you didn’t know? Today's Senior Guardian Kim Taehyung and Guardian Sung Rin's one month anniversary. They decided to throw a party tonight.”
She tilted her neck to the side out of confusion.
Why there's a need for a party when it's only been a month?
Beomgyu chuckled, “Pretty lame, right?”
“Anyways, they invited some of their friends. You should come too.” he offered while both of them began walking.
“Oh no, thank you, Beomgyu-ssi. But I don't eat dinner.” she politely declined.
He chuckled and looked down. There was something unique when he smiled. It was so sweet and adorable. Anyone could smile after seeing his beautiful smile. Yoon Min didn’t add anything else more.
“I'm not trying to force you but it would be rude if you don't attend your friend's party. Sung Rin is your friend, right?” she gave him a slight nod.
“So imagine how upset she will be to find your absence? You can afford one night, can't you?” the way he was pleading her was indeed acceptable and cute.
Yoon Min wanted to say no. It's just she didn’t spend her night hanging around, eating, partying. She had many books pending to read which she definitely wanted to try now. But Sung Rin will also be disappointed in her.
“So, you coming?” Beomgyu stopped in the middle and asked her.
Looked like, he will make her agree no matter what.
She gave him a weak smile, still unable to come to a decision.
“Just one night?” he unexpectedly made puppy eyes.
Yoon Min laughed at his face, raising her hand to cover her ever-glowing smile. That's the second Beomgyu suddenly was affected. He didn’t know he had lost himself in her laughs. He witnessed every move of her silently. He could read every emotion displayed on her pretty face, each emotion melting into another creating a mass emotion of something hard to explain. The sound of her soft chuckle had him drove crazy. The way she looked right now was more than beautiful to him. That moment, he was unsure of the feelings growing inside his chest he didn’t know.
Yoon Min looked at him and found himself quietly staring at her. She assumed he was waiting for her answer so she nodded her head, “All right, I'll go to the party.”
He still didn’t manage himself yet. He was still seeing her the fairest, the kindest, the heart-stealer. The imaginary white light coming from behind her, making her glow in the dark was something he never saw in a person before. Not in a while. He couldn’t help but to let out his remarkable smile on his lips.
Now that he had spent quite a few minutes staring at her, she felt more than uncomfortable and weird seeing him. She decided to knock him out of his thoughts so that at least he can move his eyes from her.
“Hello? Beomgyu-ssi?”
He snapped back like she expected and his cheeks grew crimson red as he looked away, biting his lower lips. Before any misunderstandings rose, he excused himself by asking,
“You were saying?”
Yoon Min repeated her words, “I think I should go to the party.”
Beomgyu became happy like a light bulb and clapped his hands in victory.
“That's great! Let's go!”
--------------
As both of them travelled through the hallways while chatting about many things, they found many similarities between them and found out both of them liked mangoes. Also a lot of things were common between them. They felt like they already were good friends.
They opened the door to the canteen and found already many guardians present there. A large cake was placed on the table along with many other foods. The sight of such delicious foods made Yoon Min about to drool but she managed to hold herself. The seniors guardians were there along with her friends. She can imagine how excited they were feeling right now.
“Yah, Song Yoon Min! Where you been all day, huh?” Sung Rin made her way towards them. She looked mad and upset. Despite that makeup that made her look so gorgeous, she was still fuming. She could see Yian following her close behind, begging her friend to calm down since it's her special day.
She stomped right in front of her and threw a punch on her shoulder. Yoon Min playfully pretended she was hurt as she rubbed that specific area while mouthing a “It hurts.”
“I couldn’t even find you anywhere! Did you know it was our First Month Anniversary!? I wanted to invite you personally and here you are, busy saving humans.” Sung Rin pouted.
Yoon Min stole a glance from Beomgyu beside her who gave her a smile that showed that she did good by arriving at the right time.
Before she could reply, Yian was the one who exclaimed and looked at Beomgyu with a happy face, “Oh, Choi Beomgyu, glad you made it.”
She did a fist bump with him. It wasn’t surprising as Yian was friends with half of the guardians in the whole Universe.
Sung Rin however didn’t recognize him so she whispered into her friend's ear openly, “Who's he?”
Yian replied back; the only difference was she spoke openly, “Ah, he's Guardian Choi Beomgyu, a real sweet fellow. I had to invite him.” she ended with a smirk.
Sung Rin rolled her eyes and changed the topic to Yoon Min, “Where were you all day?”
Yoon Min suddenly hugged her shoulders, obviously faking a hug and cooed, “Sorry~ I will give you both a nice blessing, okie?”
Sung Rin scoffed at her fake blessing and pushed her away.
“Whatever, glad you came.”
She smiled sheepishly.
The party hadn’t started yet. The foods and arrangements were all ready. Taehyung also came, looking all handsome, his forehead revealed with a bandana. The other senior guardians were goofing around and talking loudly like local boys. Except for Seokjin. Speaking of him, he wasn’t even present in the party. Maybe he didn’t come.
Myeong Jo was reading three books this time at a corner, the empty small pot of vanilla ice cream on the table made it look obvious she was the one who finished it. Yoon Min slowly made her way towards her and stood next to her, her butt relying on the table a bit. Myeong Jo showed no reaction although she knew someone came to her. She's always like that.
“Hey, Myeong Jo.” Yoon Min greeted.
She replied with a hum.
Now the flashbacks of the mysterious dream kept appearing in front of her eyes. Yoon Min couldn’t help but to bother about what happened earlier. She didn’t remember falling asleep. And even if it was a dream, that whole time if she was actually dreaming, why everything felt so real?
Yoon Min softly asked Myeong Jo, “Yah, Myeong Jo-ah...did you perhaps talk to Jimin today?”
The mention of his name made a big effect on her. She gritted her teeth and moved her eyes to a far-away Jimin from her books. It was clear she was cursing him silently.
“That jerk dragged me to the bridge in the late afternoon. Aish, so annoying!” she closed her eyes out of frustration.
So it was true they talked on the bridge right that time.
“Did you guys fight or just talk normally?” Yoon Min pretended she didn’t know anything.
Myeong Jo let out a scrawl and nodded, “What can we do other than fight? He's literally forcing me to give him a chance. Why? I don't like him at all.”
Yoon Min didn’t exactly understand everything. So Jimin and Myeong Jo talked on the bridge like she saw in her dream? How was it possible? According to Beomgyu, he found her sleeping. And it had to be a dream as it ended with Seokjin being surprised by her presence. Nothing was linking with each points.
She sighed in frustration lowly and noticed an orange juice beside on the table. She realized her throat was dry so she took it and began gulping all of it at a time. She needed to clear her mind first.
After some minutes, Koushi walked towards them with a disappointed face. She stood beside Yoon Min and frowned sadly.
“Jungkook's ignoring me.” she pouted.
Yoon Min and Myeong Jo both didn’t care to hear her out as they had their own problems. The last thing they wanted wa another problem. Taehyung and Sung Rin were walking here and there, arms linking with each other and both of them talking so sweetly. Wow, what a party!
Koushi decided to bury her sorrow and go to another topic, “Hey, any guess why Jin Seonbae didn’t come?”
Myeong Jo surprisingly answered, “He is like that. A boring old guy.”
“Still it's his friend's party. He should come. Don't you agree?” she elbowed Yoon Min who was lost in thoughts.
Now that she interrupted her thoughts, Yoon Min put the juice bottle down on the table and sighed. Crossing her arms over her chest, she mumbled, “Taehyung should invite him. Not us.”
“Speaking of which, Taehyung did invite him. But Jin declined like four times. How come he's so boring? There's life more than reading books and working.” Koushi informed. She usually got all the information at least two hours before it happened.
All three of them were spacing out when suddenly Taehyung came over to them along with Hoseok by his side.
“Hello, Ladies.” Taehyung greeted with that infamous smirk of his.
“Oh Hi! Guardian Koushi, Guardian Myeong Jo and Guardian Yoon Min!” the cheerful guy spoke after him.
None of them replied back.
Taehyung took a glass of red wine in his hand and slurped some down his throat. He turned towards Koushi and asked, “Hey, Koushi...Did you talk to Jin Hyung again?”
She shook her head disappointed, “I tried after you said. He didn’t come.”
Taehyung sighed, biting his lip. Maybe he really wanted Jin at the party. “So there's no chance he will come?”
She shook her head with disappointment.
Yoon Min mumbled silently, “Someone knows how to be a party pooper.”
That's when everyone looked at her promptly. All eyes were on her. Yoon Min took a look at all of them and gulped down openly. Did she do some sort of mistake?
“Hey, we can send Guardian Yoon Min.” Hoseok smiled like his usual self.
She widened her eyes and was gonna ask loudly but her throat shook, “H-huh? W-who?”
“Yeah, Jin Seonbae listens everything if she insists. Hey, Yoon Min, go bring Jin to the party.” Koushi slapped her arm.
It felt like a burden weighted the whole sky fell on her shoulders. Yoon Min tried her best to stay away from Seokjin at any cost. Because of the heartpain and tears. She barely could resist them and it was a matter of great luck no one knew about it till now. But gravity seemed to be against her will. It kept pushing her towards him.
Taehyung smiled, “Yeah, you should, Guardian Yoon Min. Hyung has a good eye on you. You can insist him one more time and if he denies, we'll start the party.”
Before she could say no, the others already decided. Is there anything called personal opinion? Yoon Min blinked her eyes rapidly and a weird feeling occupied her chest. Guardians' hearts don't beat. So it's impossible to know what your heart is feeling right now as it never guides you.
Her heart was dead too.
