Chapter 66

Yoon Min's night dreams broke when her phone's familiar ringtone rung inside her ears. Faintly opening her eyes, she first glanced at the digital clock to check the time. Then she took her phone with an exhausting expression and checked the caller. It was very unexpected to see the man calling her at such an odd time.

Sitting straight on the bed, she took the call and cleared her throat, "Hello, Bang Chan-ssi?" She made it obvious that she was sleeping.

"Secretary Song? I'm sorry to disturb you so late. But this is an emergency." Judging the tone of his voice, she could assume he was anxious and scared for some reason. He was the manager of their hotel in Seoul.

Her ears straightened after she heard him for the next few minutes. Without wasting anymore time, she ran outside her flat, took the elevator and knocked on Seokjin's door for some time. She knew he put his phone on silent as he's been doing that since the past month after his mother's death. Sleep could actually help him escape to a better environment than this lonely, selfish world.

"Open up, open up..." She murmured under her breath and knocked on his door louder.

After some time, Seokjin opened the door, looking very annoyed as he should be. Squinting his eyes shut, he hardly let out since a yawn blocked his words, "What's wrong?"

Yoon Min decided to move to the main point, "Sir, Manager Bang Chan-ssi just called. Someone just committed suicide in one of our rooms."

Seokjin unwillingly widened his eyes and his face went pale. He took some seconds to take in her words as his brain refused to work right now. But he had to take decisions first. He told Yoon Min to get ready before both of them drove their way towards the hotel even during way over midnight.

"CEO Kim, I'm so sorry to have you called here so late. This is an emergency." Manager Bang Chan looked very nervous and scared.

Seokjin didn't reply to his words and asked a question instead, "What happened exactly?"

Yoon Min stood beside him in the lobby which was pretty much empty fortunately. It was late at night so probably everyone was sleeping. She was almost tempted to act like a detective and investigate the victim and look cool.

He explained, "It was almost an hour ago. One of our staff was returning from the 7th floor and when he was passing by, he heard something weird inside, like something falling down on the floor. He knocked on the door to make sure everything was fine. But none replied. He reported it to me so we both knocked several times on the door but there was no sound inside. We took the liberty to use our spare key-card and went inside. That's when...we found the woman living there hanging down from the ceiling."

Both the CEO and the secretary gulped down together. The manager continued, trying not to sound nervous, "I called Secretary Song first and haven't told anyone yet. We found no note or message. I-I don't know what to do, CEO Kim."

When both Manager Bang Chan and Yoon Min looked at him for an answer, Seokjin found himself in a tough spot, unable to come to a proper decision. This wasn't a light matter. This could destroy Stardust Hotel's future if taken negatively. He had to think of all possibilities before coming to a decision.

With a deep breath, he then said calmly, "First, let's call an ambulance and send her to the hospital. Secondly, we absolutely cannot tell anyone about this death. If people gets to know someone committed suicide in our hotel, there's a chance for bad reviews and public allegations against our hotel. We'll call the victim's family and show our condolence and let them take care of her."

The manager nodded immediately but Yoon Min had to complain, "But Sir, shouldn't we investigate first? We don't know why she took her life."

Seokjin gave her a soft look before answering, "It's none of our business, Secretary Song. And I suggest we keep our noses out of this."

Yoon Min blinked but nodded in agreement. Too much crime drama influenced her badly.

Manager Bang Chan then announced, "Ok, I'll call an ambulance and have them take her to the hospital." He proceeded to take his phone out and walk to a corner to make the call.

In the meantime, Seokjin felt a few light taps on his shoulder so he turned around to face her.

"I still think we should investigate."

He knew her so well that he crossed his arms over his chest and mildly glared at her, "What drama are you watching currently?"

Yoon Min got excited when he asked her such an interesting question so she immediately began to give a lecture, "Vagabond! It's about an ordinary man who comes across surprising circumstances that--"

"Okay stop, stop, stop. See that is where you should investigate and write down theories. Not here." Saying, Seokjin turned around and walked out of the place. Yoon Min followed him and during the whole driveway, she ranted to him about that drama's plotline from the first episode to the last.

--------------

The next morning, everything was normal and fine unlike how Yoon Min suspected. Which was good though for the company. She made her way towards the CEO's office to deliver him some files. Knocking on the door, she entered and found him looking out through his super expanded glass window that allowed him a clear view of the city.

She could guess something was bothering him and decided to keep it cool. Placing the files on his desk, she informed him, "These need your signatures."

He didn't look at her but gave a short nod. He still fixed his gaze outside the window.

Yoon Min licked her bottom lip and asked softly, "Is something bothering you, Sir?"

When he turned around to look at her, she could guess he wanted her to ask him this specific question so that he could share his feelings. She was the only one to hear him out anyway, according to him.

"Did you find out anything about the woman from last night?" He walked towards his chair and sat.

She blinked a little and replied, "Ah yes, her family came to the hospital. They don't have any specific guess behind her death. I also heard when she came to our hotel, she didn't look like in trouble. I wonder what made her kill herself then." She pouted sadly.

Seokjin sighed and took one of the files to work on, "Some people just thinks death can make them happy. Which is totally stupid." He closed that file and opened another one, "Anyway, did you send Manager Bang Chan and that staff their money?"

She nodded, "Yeah, hopefully they'll keep their mouth shut."

Just then, the door slammed open and Jisoo walked inside, wearing a sunglass even inside a building. Both Seokjin and Yoon Min glanced at her but didn't get surprised.

"Seokjin, I told you not to keep your shirt's top button open. Who are you trying to show?" That was the first thing she had to say after coming.

Being taken aback like a deer in front a car, Seokjin got embarrassed and cleared his throat before reaching to close the button. There was no point of giving her an explanation.

Jisoo walked inside, flopped down on a couch and was about to start a conversation. But she chose to glare at the secretary first and coldly spat,

"Why're you here? Get out already."

Yoon Min slightly widened her eyes in realization and rambled quickly, "Right, right, I was about to." Then she quickly walked out of the office, leaving the couple alone.

While she was riding the elevator to another floor, Yoon Min found herself seeping away into a deep thought. She couldn't help but notice Jisoo's weird reactions since the past month. Of course, she was alway rude and cold to her, but she seemed to be acting a bit different now. Jisoo would visit Seokjin's office almost everyday, she would finish her shooting somehow early and stay with him all day. Most importantly, she would keep a death stare on Yoon Min whenever she was around Seokjin. She wouldn't let her stay with him no longer than a few minutes and would try to get intimate with him in front of her.

As if she was trying prove who had the real power here.

Yoon Min usually never complained but, she was starting to feel like Jisoo wanted to throw her out of Seokjin's life somehow. And how being his girlfriend gave her the upper rights made her feel inferior and scared.

She didn't want Seokjin to take a decision that would distance both of them away forever.
