Chapter 62
In the paradise resort of their hotel, Seokjin and Jisoo were in their own world, sitting around a table with drinks in their hands and chatting with each other like every couple there. The sun hadn't set yet, which made the whole sky and the atmosphere orange and a hint of purple. This was the most exciting moment while being on a trip in a beach. To watch the sun drip into the west sky, a beauty that could only exist in fairytales.
He didn't enjoy an afternoon like this in forever. His loving girlfriend was here with him, what more could he want? Well, maybe...a presence of someone else? He didn't know he wasn't entirely in peace because of the absence of her.
Hiding her face from the public, Jisoo was drinking the cocktail secretly. She usually wore the mask all the time, but she took it off while drinking and was cautious about anyone noticing her. While doing so, her eyes caught something interesting, or rather someone she didn't expect would be doing that. Her lips formed a smirk and she had to tell her boyfriend about it.
"Whoa, Secretary Song's got her own boyfriend, I see."
Hearing the sentence, Seokjin blinked rapidly and followed her gaze hurriedly in search of finding the accurate meaning behind her words. And he almost gasped to see the sight in front of him. Yoon Min was with a guy, both were talking and laughing while walking around the paths on the hill. They had no idea they were being watched by two people from a distance as they were too engaged in getting to know each other.
Unaware to him, his hand was clutching the glass tightly, almost wanting to break it.
Jisoo chuckled and returned to drinking, "For the first time, she's doing something right. Don't you think so?"
She received no answer from him. Which caused her to shift her eyes on him. She immediately furrowed her eyebrows in confusion to find his seat empty. When did he get up? She panicked a little and scanned around her place, fortunately spotting him going towards somewhere without even telling him.
"Butterflies?" Yoon Min asked with a curious smile.
Kang nodded, walking beside her. She had a playful smile on her face as she let out, crossing her arms, "Rare to find a man fond of butterflies."
"Because I'm unique." He singsonged which made her giggle.
It wasn't that long they could spend their joyful time together, because suddenly she saw someone walking towards them in a fierce, annoyed mood, as if he could kill both of them. She stopped on her steps and stared at the familiar person with eyes widened.
"S-Sir?" she murmured under her breath.
Kang also stopped and looked from her to the stranger in curiosity.
"Secretary Song, I'm very curious to know what you're doing." Seokjin asked her once he stood before her, giving a sharp glare to the other man.
Being slightly taken aback, Kang glanced at her and asked softly, "Do you know him?"
Yoon Min was lost in her thoughts. She was sure Seokjin was here to ruin everything. She had to act cool not to let any misunderstandings rise.
"I-I...umm..." She mumbled only nonsenses at first. "Um...Kang-ssi, this is Kim Seok Jin, my b-boss. And Sir?" She looked at Seokjin. "This is Song Kang, a ballet dancer."
Learning his name, Kang almost exclaimed, "Ah, the one you told me about?"
Yoon Min pressed her lips together at his words. Why did he have to say that now?
"Exactly what did she tell you about me?" Seokjin was quite serious, regarding the other with an icy glare.
"Nothing!" She yelled but Kang already started saying, "Nothing important, CEO Kim. Yoon Min-ssi just told me you have a kind heart and she's lucky to work under you."
Yoon Min stared at Kang intensely with fluttering eyes. She definitely said nothing like that. She talked so bad about Seokjin all day, some were false to make him seem the bad guy. And Kang listened to her attentively. Why did he lie though?
Seokjin was taken aback, no idea that the other guy lied. He hardly could believe Yoon Min would ever badmouth him behind his back. So he believed the other's answer, even though it wasn't the truth. If he ever heard how she defamed him, he would want to hang himself out of shame.
Nonetheless, he boldly took hold of her hand and pulled her away from Kang, surprising Yoon Min as she demanded angrily, "What the heck are you--"
"I've been meaning to ask, Secretary Song. I thought I told you to prepare the necessary information for my next meeting."
No, he didn't.
Yoon Min knew he was trying to take her away from Kang so she responded boldly, trying hard to pull her hand out of his grip, "We're on a trip, CEO Kim! There's no meeting scheduled!"
"Oh come on, shouldn't you be working on anything now? Did you reserve spots for us at the restaurant? You didn't, right?"
"Ugh, you guys are gonna have dinner there, aren't you? I'm supposed to book for your seats at least an hour earlier, not now!" she spat back, still trying to pull her hand away.
Seokjin hissed at her continuous attempts to stay with Song Kang and yelled more, "You're so disrespectful, Secretary Song. You--"
"Uh, excuse me?"
Both of them stopped bickering and glanced at the other man who looked like a scared puppy. Kang licked his lower lip and calmly asked her, "If you have important things to do, you can go, Yoon Min-ssi. It's not like I'm leaving, right?"
Yoon Min's eyes softened at his concern, which Seokjin didn't miss and getting the chance, he pulled her hand hard to move her behind him as if he was protecting her from Kang. He flashed a sweet, fake smile before stating,
"Well, thank you, Mr. Song. I see you have common sense unlike my unhelpful secretary." He even chuckled to mock her. "We will be going then. Bye!"
Like that, his strong hand tightened around her wrist and dragged her to the opposite direction, completely against her will. Yoon Min couldn't even object, she already gave a few tries but she was weak comparing to him. So with a sad face, she followed him but turned her head around to look at Kang again. He was watching her go away with a confused smile and waved at her.
She raised her thumb, index and pinky finger to form the phone gesture and yelled loudly for him to hear, "Do call me, Kang-ssi!"
"I will!" He yelled back with a chuckle.
Seokjin pulled her hand a bit more forcefully than before after hearing her bold attempt and walked as fast as he could to separate her from the young, good-looking man behind. God, he couldn't let Yoon Min be on her own from now on. Who knew she would decide to hang out with some guy?
"What is your problem, CEO Kim!?" Yoon Min couldn't suppress her anger once they reached the same resort he was there with his girlfriend. "How could you do that? You just embarrassed me!"
Seokjin finally let go of her hand, satisfied with the fact he successfully managed to bring her with him. "Yah, why were you roaming around with a stranger in this island? You should be careful."
"You brought me here." She seemed really mad, judging by the tone of her voice. "You brought me to Jeju Island just to...what, leave me alone in my room? While you will have a nice time here with your partner? I mean, why did you even bring me here?"
The question silenced the CEO. He couldn't tell her why he actually brought her here. If he told her he wanted her to be by his side all the time, she might take it differently as she should. So he couldn't do that.
But before he could explain, she opened her mouth to let out more angry retorts but, at the end, she just didn't waste her time. "Aish, I'm so done." She didn't give him a chance before she started walking away from him. The only place she could go now was back to the hotel.
Seokjin was upset that he hurt her and did something he shouldn't have done. What was this feeling he was having inside him? Why couldn't he bear to see Yoon Min with another guy? Why did it feel like she was betraying his emotions?
At least, she wasn't going back to that guy.
--------------
Yoon Min was really getting on Seokjin's nerves.
For a few days he noticed she wasn't in her room most of the time. He would find her hanging out with that tall guy almost all day; laughing, chatting, giggling, walking, doing fun activities. And when she would get back to her hotel room, he could hear her talking to him on the phone with soft chuckles. As if she was dating that guy.
He scoffed, thinking about them dating. They would seem like the worst couple in the world. Yoon Min and Song Kang? Definitely no. Even fate would say that, he was sure.
And when he was watching Yoon Min eating with him, dressed up in a fancy dress; he wanted to vomit by their cute interactions. Him and Jisoo were sitting in another table, far from them in the same restaurant. Seokjin looked like he only came here to spy on them, not to eat as his big, envious eyes were staring at them all the time.
Which didn't please his girlfriend.
"People will think you're jealous." Jisoo calmly commented and ate a slice of steak with a fork.
Seokjin glanced at her and thought to complain to her, "Have you seen her, Jisoo? She's acting totally different after she started hanging out with that Kang guy or whoever. She's all giggly with makeup on her face 24 hours! It feels like I don't even know her." He face-palmed and closed his eyes.
Jisoo smiled at his childish behaviour, "Well, I don't find her weird. She is acting like she should. After all, we all try to impress our partner when we start dating."
He shot open his eyes and almost immediately asked, "Do you think they're dating?"
She stopped cutting the steak and glanced at him with a confused look, "Aren't they?"
That answer grabbed Seokjin and pushed him from the seventh sky. The sky broke on his head and wet clouds started raining on him. Imaginary lightenings struck him and damaged his heart while he sat there dumbfounded. He couldn't let her date another man!
"Omo, I think I forgot my shawl at the beach." Yoon Min exclaimed slightly, looking around their table.
Kang wiped his mouth with a tissue and said, "I'll go find it."
"No, no, I should go, Kang-ssi. I probably left it in the women's bathroom and you won't be able to go in there." She chuckled, trying to make it sound like a joke.
But he protested, "I can't let you go alone. It's dark out there."
Yoon Min blushed by his extreme concern for her. She stood up from her seat and told him, "I'll be alright. Why don't you finish up your dinner first? I'll be back by then."
Kang objected a few more times but upon her strong denial, he gave up and cautioned her to be careful. She nodded and walked her way out of the dinning hall.
With no idea, someone else decided to follow her.
