Chapter 29

An unusual lightening in the form of fear struck him when Seokjin landed on Earth.

His mouth opened to inhale air, eyes scanning his surroundings quicker than the speed of light. He found himself standing in front of a house in a small village. Maybe she's here somewhere; alone, scared. With a deep inhale, he started to search for Yoon Min sharply without missing a single spot.

The night seemed brighter to him tonight. Every star bigger and shiner, blurred among the clouds in the most fascinating way. A crescent moon lightened the world with its hope and love. He happened to admire the endless beauty of the sky in the middle of his search and rescue mission. Gazing at the undescribable canvas, he only thought of her as he released a sigh.

Yoon Min would have liked the sky too.

After exploring and inspecting almost eight villages, he was starting to give up. He was exhausted, breathless. There was no sight of her anywhere. As much as Seokjin wanted to flop down on the ground and rest, the picture of Yoon Min panicking in fear didn’t let him. Poor her had to go through so many dangerous events since she became a guardian. She was unknowingly the target of every evil force. He didn’t give up and kept going around looking for her, praying for her safety.

Seokjin stopped in the middle of a field. Coldness knocked his skin as the faint touch of air embraced him wholely. The green grasses on which moonlight had fallen were swinging like little kids. His eyes spotted a soul standing with her back facing him in a distance, watching the stars in wonder. Her figure, her glow, her amazing scent proved his assumption correct.

He found her.

Seokjin never felt so much happiness before as he made his way to her slowly. He was already grinning at the fact how shocked she would be after seeing him. His light footsteps on the grasses was enough for her to be cautious as her one ear moved like a rabit. Him reaching her closer called her gently not to surprise her,

“Song Yoon Min...”

She heard him and immediately turned around. Gasping in shock, she took a step behind as her hands covered her mouth.

“Jin Seonbae?” her voice was nothing but a whisper.

He smiled as widely as possible; a huge relief drowned his mind. “Are you alright?”

Yoon Min was still in bewilderment. She didn’t look like she cried or she was afraid. Seokjin forgot for a moment she was actually very strong mentally. She blinked her eyes continuously to figure out if he was real or not. Because it was impossible for him to stand before her. He wasn't that kind to break a rule for her. He shouldn’t.

Her eyes never left his as she asked, “W-what are you doing h-here? Y-you... How--”

“I came to take you back.” he answered her walking more closer.

Her voice was cracking due to the coldness, “N-no...you can't be here. That means you b-broke--”

He was already standing a few inches away from her, staring at her eyes as if she was a beautiful flower, waiting to be bloomed. Yoon Min's eyes quivered in place as she couldn’t even imagine him doing something like this. Why?

“It's alright. Princess Aereum won't say anything to me.” he looked proud when he said that.

It took her one second to let out all the teardrops she was holding inside her eyes and shake her head in guilt. Without speaking any word, she just closed the gap between them and placed her head on his chest, her hands gripping his jacket tightly.

Seokjin couldn’t tell if he was dreaming or not, but he was way beyond speechless. She was practically hugging him. And she was crying. He was frozen in his place, not able to word out or do anything; being taken aback by her action.

He refrained himself from holding her. As much as he wanted nothing more than her being this close to him; he just was scared if he couldn’t let her go after he hugged her. So he just remained there still, letting her cry on his chest as he knew if he took another step, things might change between them. Also, the fact something happened between them a few nights back and she wasn’t exactly happy about it; he took his all not to hug the poor girl.

He was just curious why she took the courage to hug him.

She stayed closer to his warm body until she didn’t feel the need to cry anymore. Realizing what she had done, she pulled herself away from him against her will and her cheeks were reddening each second. Seokjin smiled at her reaction and decided to tease her,

“Aigoo, look who's shy...”

She glared at him which caused him to giggle and all on a sudden, she yelled out, “Who told you come for me! Now the princess's gonna scold you!”

“Trust me, she won't. Now tell me, what the hell happened to you? I was worried to death?”

Yoon Min pressed her lips together in a thin line and showed him her watch, “My watch isn’t working. No matter how many times I press it, it won't just take me back to the universe.”

Seokjin wasn’t an expert in fixing watches but he did feel something fishy about it.

Yoon Min wiped her cheeks quickly and acted as if nothing happened. Well, no action of hers missed his eyes so he chuckled and ruffled the top of her hair to mess it.

“I was looking for you since 3 hours. Where were you hiding?” he asked like a man asking his dog where it hid his shoe.

She widened her eyes and exclaimed, “3 h-hours? For m-me?”

“Yes, kid.” all his efforts from the previous minutes went to drain when he himself pulled her towards him and hugged her again. Seokjin just thought it wouldn’t hurt to show his care since she liked being adored by him anyway. She could hug him so he could too, right?

Yoon Min being startled felt thousands of emotions ruining her pure mind and she knew her face was red. But she secretly smiled like a fool.

“Shall we go now?” he asked when they spent quite some time together really close to each other.

She nodded repeatedly as she pulled away flashing him a tiny smile.

Seokjin held her hand tightly; and then both of them disappeared back to their home together.

Maybe things don't change between them. They just get closer more.

-------------

Princess Aereum's eyes were examining the watch strictly. Her watch was kept on her desk as told so she was studying its features for some time.

Baekhyun and Yoon Min were quietly standing in front of her.

She shifted her eyes to her secretary, “We never had a watch gone wrong or manipulated, right?”

He shook his head while fixing his glasses and said gently, “No, Princess. This is really shocking and weird. The watches are created with powerful magics, causing them to last till forever. This never happened before.”

The Princess moved her gaze back to the watch. Taking it in her hands, she started to investigate the reason behind it by staring at the watch from every possible corner.

Baekhyun was still talking, “What if we never realized Guardian Song's absence? She would be stuck in Earth forever! And what if this happens with the others?! The unive--” he sealed his lips quickly when the Princess gave him a fearful look for being talkative.

Yoon Min was the only who didn’t know what to do.

Soon, Aereum glanced at her and said, “Forgive us, Guardian Song Yoon Min, for the unexpected occur. As of now, I'll be keeping this watch with me. You can take another watch from my secretary for your human services.”

She nodded politely.

“You may leave now.”

Hearing her, she bowed for the last time and came out of the office. She released a loud breath in relief.

Beomgyu was leaning against the wall, he stood straight when he saw her and made his way towards her.

“Well?”

“Nothing as of now.”

He sighed, closing his eyes. The reaction he gave when he saw her return made Yoon Min speechless. He was almost crying while hugging her and mumbling many apologies though he wasn’t at fault. Ella too was bursting in tears since she believed it was entirely her fault for not realizing Yoon Min's absence sooner.

She smiled, connecting her arm with his.

“Hey Beom, I'm fine. Don't keep that long face.” she cooed the last sentence.

He looked at her with some grief in his eyes, “I'm mad that I didn’t even knew you weren’t in Love Universe. I could've spent the rest of the day, thinking you must be somewhere around. I-I...what if--” he sighed, unable to finish his sentence.

Yoon Min knew it wasn't his fault so she tried to cheer him, “But you did anyway. That's what matters! Now come with me to the cafeteria. I'm hungry.” she intentionally changed the topic.

Hopefully, dragging him with her forcefully was the only way to stop his worries for her.

-------------

When both of them reached the cafeteria, they noticed a table being fully taken by the 7 senior guardians, all chatting loudly and playing games. Of course, not Seokjin.

Beomgyu held her wrist and quickly said, “Let's go somewhere else.”

“Why? What's wrong being here? I'm hungry.”

“I will bring you food so just come with me.” The second he took the second attempt, his watch beeped, alerting him a human needed him.

Yoon Min glanced at his watch and pouted softly. Beomgyu sighed in annoyance, shutting his eyes not to show how mad he was right now. Can't he even spend some time with her?

“Y-you should go, Beom.” she took her hand back. She tried giving him a warm smile though she was upset about the wrong timing.

Beomgyu's eyes softened looking at her. He cupped her cheek with one of his hand and tried to console her, “I'll be back soon.” and knowing he couldn’t delay, he vanished in front of her within a second to attend a human.

Yoon Min sighed again and looked back at the cafeteria. Should she go? Her stomach was craving for some cake so she just marched inside, with an intention to avoid him as much as possible.

“Guardian Yoon Min! Long time no see!” Hoseok was the first one to spot her at the counter.

Seokjin being flabbergasted instantly followed his friend's gaze to see her.

Yoon Min had thought she would be able to escape from him after getting a piece of cake. He was very focused in reading so he didn’t notice her from the start. Too bad, Hoseok ruined it.

She slightly glanced at Seokjin's face and then moved it quickly to Hoseok, flashed a nervous smile, “Hello, Seonbae.”

Hoseok being the over-friendly type waved his hand and said, “I didn’t see you for some days. Are you doing well?”

Yoon Min knew she won't be able to eat her cake so she sighed mentally and walked to their table as a sign of respect. “Y-yes, I'm good.”

“Hey, why would you disturb her while eating?” Yoongi murmured from beside.

Hoseok unfortunately didn’t hear him so he continued asking about her health. That's why people call him the “Kind Soul”.

“Yoon Min, come sit here.” Seokjin pulled a chair beside him and gestured her to sit next to him.

She widened her eyes and stared at him in surprise. One girl among 7 handsome men?

“That is a nice idea! Sit down, Junior. Let's have a good talk among ourselves.” Hoseok encouraged her with his bright smile.

She tried being polite, denying a few times but knowing she couldn't reject her seniors, she ended up sitting beside him, feeling awkward.

She noticed the maknaes were busy in playing a game called “Zenga” so they didn’t even bother to look at her. Rude.

“So I heard about you today. Boy, I was extremely surprised. Your watch really didn’t work?” Nam Joon asked with concern. He's the type to talk about serious subjects.

Yoon Min answered, “Yes, Seonbae. Even Princess Aereum found it weird. They said a watch has never been malfunctioned like mine. Currently, they are investigating it.”

He nodded and sipped his drink slowly. Yoongi turned in asking questions out of curiosity, “So what did you do in there?” he was expecting to hear that she cried or she was scared.

She saw Seokjin focusing on his book instead of her so she felt less uncomfortable and began to talk freely with them,

“Just...watching people’s lives. How they wake up, eat breakfast, go to work/school, play, have fun, laugh around, sleep, go on dates...” she trailed off.

Hoseok butt in again, “I know right? Humans don't realize how precious they are! Look at us. We all want to be humans even after we took our own lives. Funny, right?”

“I agree with Hobi. Life is something invaluable, priceless and worth to live it. I bet when we were humans, we considered our lives as trash. Now I badly want to go back to Earth again.” Nam Joon supported his friend.

Yoon Min didn’t knew other guardians also wanted to be humans. It's good to find some similarities.

Yoongi seemed to be against them, “Hey, why do you guys keep wanting to go back? Just live how you are now. Guardians are thousand times better than pathetic humans.” he slurped down his juice by a straw.

Hoseok grimaced at his comment and whispered, “He's nuts!”

She smiled and eventually spoke out,

“Do you guys ever feel the absence of anything?”

Nam Joon answered, “Sure, I like the absence of Hobi and the maknaes. They keep bugging me, you see.”

Yoongi cackled while Hoseok whined, hitting his friend dramatically, “Hey, not fair.”

Yoon Min chuckled before shaking her head, “No, not that type of. I mean... something inside you?”

All three of them looked confused.

She smiled and pointed to her left chest, “Heart.”

Nam Joon somehow seemed to understand her since he let out a soft, gentle chuckle with a nod.

“This area of mine seems vacant. Like nothing's there. While all other parts of my body are still functioning correctly, this heart has been put to an endless sleep. Knowing it's still there but it isn’t beating like it always used to when it was alive...I feel insecure. I would like to feel the fast beating of my heart again someday. I want to hear my heart thumping inside me, letting me know I am a human again.”

“Also, being stuck in time bothers me. Humans can move forward. They will be born, move forward, live their old ages and die. While us? Nothing. Serve suicidal humans until Almighty knows how long. If it's possible, I would also like to be a human again...just to meet myself as an 70 year old woman.” she joked at the end, earning a laugh from her 3 listeners.

Yoongi suddenly confessed after hearing her wholely, “Now I want to be a human.”

The others chuckled at his change of decision and gave him a few shoulder patts. Hoseok secretly whispered to him, “I like her thoughts better than Nam Joon's.”

“Hey!” the tall guy heard him unfortunately and got offended.

Out of nowhere, Yoon Min felt someone patting her hair anonymously and she blushed, hiding her smile. When was he listening to her?

“Aish, Hyung is flirting!” Hoseok threw a piece of tissue at Seokjin who immediately stopped his action and yelled,

“Yah, no one's flirting here! Gosh, you guys are so--” he returned his attention back to his book which caused Yoon Min to pout a little.

Taehyung got bored and upon falling his eyes on the girl, he suddenly screamed like a woman. Jimin and Jungkook paused their game and looked at her, both of them also screamed as if they've seen a ghost.

The others looked at them while Yoongi scolded them, “Why are you folks shouting?”

“When did SHE join us?” Jungkook pointed his finger at her.

Yoon Min scoffed lightly and replied, “I've been here for half an hour.”

Jimin returned to being normal and cheesily said, “Aigoo, you guys should've told me. I would love to chat with Yoon Minnie.” he was just oiling her.

And the rest of her night spent with her watching the senior guardians bragging about their friendship and showing her all sorts of funny habits, lame jokes and theories.

She just wished nothing bad happened to the people she cherised even though death hadn’t spared her out of danger...yet.

I don't know what I should do🙂
