How could he let himself fall for her?

Beomgyu asked himself this question several times. During his long stay in this universe, there wasn't anything that fascinated him. He didn’t want to be a senior guardian. He didn’t even have any interest to know his past. Some of his friends mentioned his soul was as dead as his body. While everyone else was excited to be a part of this journey, he didn’t find anything interesting to look forward to.

Until he met Yoon Min.

He wasn’t looking for anything back then. He wasn’t even planning to fall for someone. But when he met her, things just happened. She was new to everything but she was passionately dedicated to save suicidal humans. She treated him nice, she liked talking to him, she had a kind heart and a beautiful smile. And he found himself slowly wanting to spend more time with her.

It was intriguing how they were able to converse in deep topics. How similarities floated in the air and butterflies flew around. Soon, he developed feelings for her in a short time. He had been a guardian of this universe for 6 years and he never had a liking on someone this much. Maybe that's how it all starts; you're not looking for anything but suddenly you have something. He suddenly had Yoon Min after years of hopelessness.

When he realized his feelings for her, he promised himself he will get her no matter what. It was her; she was the one with perfect dreams and happiness. She was the only one for him.

But everything had to ruin because of Kim Seok Jin.

For strange reasons, she thought of him all day. She secretly watched him, wanted to impress him, stayed by his side even if that meant harm. She grew excited when he was around her, her eyes glowed when she talked about him. She was entirely different when she was with him, happier and content. However she wasn’t with Beomgyu.

So unlike the senior guardian who gave her cold shoulder and behaved rudely with her, he tried to cheer her up, compliment her, stick to her side all the time. He tried to make her feel special. But her attention revolved around the senior guardian fully and left no room for anyone else. She never noticed his little efforts to gain her attention.

And Senior Guardian Seokjin also favoured her more than others. He saw him talking to her sweetly, kept a protective eyes on her, wanted her safe and sound. He too wanted her the same way he did.

Beomgyu couldn’t let that happen.

Both of them were falling for each other, walking on the same line with the same motive. He knew he was going to lose her to another man because she was already too blindly in love with him that she missed her friend's every signal to let her know he liked her. He couldn’t lose someone this easily after finding her at the appropriate moment.

So when after their mission to the space was completed and Princess Aereum announced the three of them will be gifted a chance to get their wishes fulfilled, he knew this was the opportunity he should seize to claim her forever, to take her away from the other man. He knew this was the chance he must take to snatch her away and have her to all by himself.

His exacts words to the princess were:

“I like Guardian Yoon Min. I want her to choose me over Senior Guardian Jin. That's my wish.”

Princess Aereum looked like she wasn’t expecting him to wish something like that. Her facial expression told him all of that. But he couldn’t care less. He asked what he needed to have her.

When his wish was granted, he didn’t have to make efforts on her. He didn’t have to impress her or try to make her want him because he was aware at the end, she would choose him. She would fall for him at some point effortlessly. So he stopped worrying about her continuous bonding with the senior guardian and waited for the moment she would fall for him and run to him.

But that moment never did come.

Yoon Min and Seok Jin were together when they were alive. Not only that, he was her guardian and chose not to save her. It came out as an unexpected shock to every resident of the universe. They all knew about their close relationship but never did they imagine those two were connected in their humans lives.

Neither did Beomgyu. He had absolutely no idea they were lovers when they were alive. He had no idea they had a beautiful love story which was tragically put to an end. He had no idea those two loved each other madly, undoubtedly, completely that even death couldn’t defeat their love. That explained their current attraction towards each other, the same love that never died with their bodies but rather ignited the same feelings.

But he also didn’t know he was going to fall in love with her. He didn’t know he was going to want her so much. If he had the slightest clue that she was already fated to be with another guy, he would've never fallen for her or make that wish. If he knew Yoon Min belonged to Seok Jin rightfully and fatefully, he would had never put himself in the position to dream of loving her.

However it was too late. He was already in love with her.

As a result, Beomgyu avoided her as much as possible. He heard that Yoon Min forgave Seokjin and they were now preparing themselves to try out for the magical crystal ball. It hurt him to know those two were so happy with each other. He couldn’t understand it. After all those heartbreaks and terrible pains they put each other in, how could they find themselves in love again? How were they capable to love one another again knowing they hurt each other in the past?

Anyways he avoided her in hope to reach a solution about his own feelings. He still couldn’t let her go like that. He liked her, maybe not more than her true lover, but he liked her genuinely and purely. He would never think of cheating on her the way Seokjin did. Never.

And then, one day, a question popped inside his head. What happened to his wish?

The wish never came true. Yoon Min never acknowldged his feelings and finally had whom she always wanted. She was happy, content, ready to reincarnate with her lover. There was no occasion for her to choose between Beomgyu and Seokjin.

Did that mean the wish didn’t work?

Beomgyu was quite upset about it. He deserved that wish because he worked hard equally in the mission. It wasn’t fair to let his wish go in drain no matter what it was. Princess Aereum couldn’t do that, it was his basic right.

He had to meet the princess. Ask her why his wish didn’t come true.

With the help of the Department Secretary Baekhyun, he made an appointment as early as possible and right now on his way to meet her. He couldn’t wait to hear her explanation behind this.

Opening the door, he walked inside the familiar office and closed the door. The princess was usual sitting behind her desk, working. She looked at him and said,

“Guardian Beomgyu. You wanted to meet with me. I hope it's something important because I'm very busy.”

He stepped forward and didn’t hesitate a second before asking, “What happened to my wish?”

Aereum stopped whatever she was doing and slowly shifted her gaze towards him. He could clearly tell she was tensed.

“I made a wish and I don't think it has been given to me or will be.“ He added. “I believe I should know the reason.”

She looked away for a second before clearing her throat and confessed. “The reason is, I didn’t grant your wish.”

Beomgyu's eyes peered into her soul, raising an eyebrow. Was he deceived all this time?

“I believe as your princess and the ruler of Love Universe, I should had granted your wish and make it come true no matter how bizzare it was. But I felt the need to hold it.” She explained.

He questioned quickly, “Why?”

She didn’t answer for a brief while. “Love is as deep and mysterious as the sea. To discover love, all must prepare to drown. Some finds death, others find paradise.”

“But you didn’t even try to discover.”

Her words were valuable and full of wisdom. But he couldn’t get what she meant.

She continued, “Your wish was you wanted Guardian Song Yoon Min choose you over Senior Guardian Kim Seok Jin. Tell me if you really liked her, should you had made that wish or simply give your best efforts to make her fall in love with you?”

He gulped down his throat, silence embracing him.

“We should work on impressing the one we love. We must learn to love them without hoping they'll love us back one day. What you wished wasn't an effort, rather it was your chance to leave your responsibilities. You thought after your wish is granted, you won't have to worry about anything and relax. That’s not how you should make someone love you back. You should had fought for her.”

Her words were true and valid. Maybe that's why he didn’t get her. Maybe Almighty didn’t want to give her to someone as pathetic and ignorant as him.

Aereum took a breath. “That is why, I chose to deny your wish. I did it for your own good. The good news is, you still have your chance to wish for something.”

Something clicked inside Beomgyu's head as an idea popped suddenly. She said he didn’t try to discover love. What if he did now? What if this time he used this chance properly that will give him what he wanted the most without anyone actually denying him?

He didn’t lose yet.

As he looked at her, he asked, “Can you give me your word you will not deny my wish this time?”

She blinked her eyes, “Yes. As long as it's not bizarre like the last one.”

“Don't worry, this time I'll have it your way and get what I want.”

She didn’t entirely understand what he said but she said, “And I cannot hold your wish twice. I eventually will have to grant this one. So just name your wish.”

Beomgyu straightened his shoulders and let out,

“Cancel Yoon Min and Senior Guardian Jin's reincarnation.”

Aereum widened his eyes and her jaw almost dropped. It was clear she wasn’t expecting this at all.

“Are you mad, Guardian Choi Beomgyu? Do you know what you're saying?”

He didn’t reply, his facial expression stayed same.

“This is more bizarre! What is the reason behind this inexplicable wish?!” She sounded upset now.

He answered calmly, “Why, I thought this is a good wish. If they don't reincarnate, I can make Yoon Min mine by doing my whole best to impress her. You know...make efforts finally. I'm doing what you said.”

His wish was meritoriously twisted. He was playing the role of a villain by trying to be good and ideal.

She spat out, “Guardian Yoon Min does not love You. She is in love with Senior Guardian Seok Jin and there's nothing any of us can do about that. She will not love you no matter what you do--”

“You don't know that!” Beomgyu raised his voice, his eyes turning red. “You don't know the ending. She might love me back! She will! I will make sure she does. I will make sure she leaves that cheater and comes to me!”

Aereum stood up from her chair and glared at his disrespectful behaviour.

“Think of your words, Guardian Beomgyu. Their reincarnation is needed to protect Love Universe. Don't you see every day residents are getting more and more volitant? They want to know their memories like those two. Instead of concentrating on their duties or reincarnation, they are protesting to be given the same rights as those two. I ordered them to try out for the crystal ball so that they can distract those residents into thinking they should focus on reincarnation instead of receiving their memories! Your wish is gonna change everything!”

He replied instantly, “Well I don't give a damn care about that. I want Yoon Min and I'm gonna have her by any cost.”

The princess was taken aback by his bold response. She couldn’t grant this wish, it was gonna risk the universe.

“Guardian Beomgyu--”

“Princess Aereum, you have to grant my wish this time. You've got no choice.” He smirked at her. “If you don't, that means you will break a promise and you will lose the throne. That's not what you want, right?”

This time, she was silent with a knot inside her throat.

“Grant my wish quickly. Or else, you know what happens...” He turned around and left the office slamming the doors open.

Baekhyun immediately entered and worriedly asked the princess, “Princess Aereum, what are we gonna do?! I never expected Guardian Beomgyu to threaten us!”

Aereum was so anxious that she couldn’t speak. What just happened? If a single guardian can come inside her office and threaten her, then what are the armies of guardians capable of? She never imagined he would ask for something like this. His second wish was more dangerous than the first.

The universe was going to be under a huge fight. It will be caused by its own residents. Because of their jealousy and rivalry.

She looked at her secretary and ordered, though it came out as a whisper,

“Bring Senior Guardian Seokjin and Guardian Yoon Min.”
