Chapter 1

Blair's POV

"I can't believe you're making me go," I grumble and cross my arms. My loose hair blows in the wind, tempting me to just put it in a knot on top of my head.

I look at my house and think of how I'll miss it terribly for the next two and half months.

"Dad, can I please back out." I look at my father and whine. He loads in the last of my luggage and closes the trunk, shrugging sympathetically. "I wish it were up to me." He laughs and pats my back softly.

My mom pushes my hair back and plants a kiss on my forehead. "It's the best for you, you've been so stressed. You need a break before your senior year."

"I can get a break here, at home." I deadpan.

She ignores my comment. "After your senior year, your off the college." She steps back and looks at me. "They grow up so fast." She sighs.

"Well, at least we have Derek to keep the house alive while our honey bun is gone." My dad says teasingly referring to my dog, that I'm going to have to leave behind.

I mumble something about me never getting to make choices for myself and grab my carry on luggage.

"I haven't talked to Evie in months, does she even want me there?" I mumble and zip up my sweater. During this time of year, Dover can get really cold.

"Oh yeah, she's ecstatic." My mom says excitedly. "I'll get the car warm." My dad pipes up and jogs to the car.

"Mom.." I try once more to change her mind.

"No. When you get there send me pictures of Harper and Ryan and be good." She says seriously and gives me a look.

"When have I ever done anything against your orders?"

She smiles proudly and grabs my cheeks. "That's my girl,"

"And who knows? This summer may change your life." She winks playfully.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll get going. I love you, mom." I say with a tight smile and walk towards the car. I take one last look at our house and mom standing on the lawn.

"Love you too honey." She says and blows a kiss at me, waving.

"Tell Derek I said bye!" I shout and she gives me a thumbs up.

"Let's hurry Blair, you don't want to miss your flight." My dad calls out from the car.

I take a deep breath and hop in the car. I buckle up and lean back. "Call me when you land okay?"

I nod my head and we drive off to the airport.

I can only hope for these two months go by in a breeze.

Just got off the plane x

I send the message to my dad and take off my sweater feverishly. It's too damn hot. Of course, I had looked into how the weather would be at Florida but I don't expect this.

It's like a burning hole to hell. I'm used to rainy day weather and chilly days but here, it's like the sun never goes down!

I wipe the sweat off my forehand and look up trying to find Evie's face among everyone else's.

I spot a sign that has the words 'Blair Wilson' written boldly in black. Evie's eyes snap to mine and she smiles widely.

I take a deep breath and walk towards her. She hadn't changed a bit. Still the same long dirty blonde hair and same childish blue eyes, and sparkling smile.

"Hey Evie," I say awkwardly with a wave.

"Oh my god! Blair look at you!" She drops the paper and attacks me in a hug, taking me by shock. Her smell hits my nose and I'm taken back home. "Um, how are you?" I wrap my hands around her and return the gesture.

"Oh, I've missed you." She mumbles in my hair. "You're probably not used to this weather." She says with a laugh as she takes in my light wash jeans and Nike sweatshirt.

"You don't say," I mumble.

Almost everyone was wearing shorts and tank tops. "Where're the babies?" I ask tiredly and rub my eyes. Evies a single mother who works from home.

"They're at home with William." She picks up my luggage and we start walking towards her car. "William?" I ask confusedly. Mom never mentioned a William.

She pushes open the door and we step out into the hot Florida air.

"Oh, my boyfriend." She explains and her eyes light up at his name. "Does he live with you?" I ask unsurely and fan my face.

"No, he's got his own place. But he's really nice and sweet. You'll love him." She assures. I breathe out in relief, glad that I won't have to live with someone I don't know.

"I think you'll enjoy your summer here." She says with a smile. "I hope so."

We drive to Evie's house and I can't help but feel a little nervous about meeting her boyfriend. But I can't wait to attack the babies with kisses.

We pass shops and stores and I can't deny that Jacksonville Florida is actually really nice.

I read online that it's a fairly small town as well.

After about twenty minutes we pull into a neighborhood and the car slows down in front of an average sized dark blue house. There's a big lawn in front with a tree in the corner occupied with a swing.

"Nice house Evie," I mumble and step out. I roll up my sleeves to somehow let air in, I can't take off my sweatshirt because all I'm wearing underneath is a pajama tank.

"Thanks, I think you'll like your room." She says excitedly and claps her hands.

"Let me call William to come and get the luggage." She takes out her phone and calls her boyfriend.

I look around and stretch my arms and legs a bit. There are little kids running around from house to house with water balloons and families laid out on their lawns having picnics.

Soon a man walks out of the house carrying two babies. I gasp and run towards him with my arms outstretched. I completely disregard him and focus on the smiling babies in front of me.

"Oh my god! Aren't you both adorable?" I gush and take them both from Williams' hands.

"Hey! Your Blair right?" William asks with a laugh at my excitement. I look up at Evie's boyfriend who looks to be about twenty-seven or so.

"Yup that's me. Nice to meet you." I respond politely. He's got dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He's got a welcoming smile and he doesn't seem too bad.

"Will, help me!" Evie yells out in annoyance when she couldn't lift a bag.

"Well, I'll get the luggage. Hope you'll enjoy Florida." He pipes. He leaves to the car and I'm left with Harper and Ryan.

"Hello there. I'm auntie Blair." I coo and gently grab their hands.

They smile and I literally felt my heart melt. Harper looks just like dad and Ryan looks just like Mom.

"Evie they are so cute," I say unbelievably. "I know right? I still can't wrap my head around it." She chuckles.

"Oh, it's the Millers!" William says to Evie and starts waving.

"Good afternoon Mrs. Miller," William calls out. My eyes snap to the house in front of us I'm met with like five pairs of eyes.

There's a lady holding a tray with glasses of juice and a girl laid out on the grass with a boy next to her. And two shirtless guys who are throwing a football at each other.

They all look about my age, and that terrifies me. Am I going to have to make friends?

Is Evie gonna make me hang out with them? I'm kind of really socially awkward.

The lady looks about Moms age with flawless skin and blonde hair that's tied into a ponytail.

"Hey, William! Who's this?" The lady asks as she lays friendly eyes on me.

"This is my sister, Blair, she's visiting for the summer," Evies calls out and stands by my side. She takes Ryan and Harper from my hands and only then do I realize how heavy they are.

"Your so pretty, just like your sister," she gushes and turns around. "Henry, Harrison get over here." She says to two boys.

"This is my youngest son, Harrison," A shirtless boy jogs up next to Mrs. Miller. He's got dirty blonde hair and the prettiest blue eyes I've ever seen. He seems about fifteen or so. He gives me a toothy smile and I wave back politely.

"And my oldest, Henry." The other boy who was playing football catches the ball that was thrown at him, his eyes snap to mine and I feel my mouth go dry.

He's got the most captivating dark blue eyes and dirty blonde hair like his mom, with a sharp and defined jawline. He's gorgeous.

Why don't I look that good?

He stares at my face for a second gives me a not-so-discrete once over. He looks like he's eighteen or seventeen, my age.

He smirks at me and pursues his lips at my sweatshirt, like he's holding in a laugh. They've got some good genes, him and his brother, can't deny that.

Him being shirtless didn't help either.

"Stop oogling." Evie nudges me.

Damnit. I turn bright red and stray my eyes to his mom, not wanting to get more embarrassed for staring and smile softly at her.

"This is Ivy and Blake. Their friends." Mrs. Miller introduces me to the girl laying on the grass with the boy next to her.

Ivy leans up from the grass and takes off her shades. She's stunning. Shes got black long hair and tanned golden skin. She gasps immediately when she looks at me.

"How are still alive wearing that." She shrieks.

Okay, is it like a sin to wear a sweatshirt?

"And why are you so pale?!" She comments again shocked.

"Yeah, you must be burning, let's get you hydrated and changed." Evie comes to my rescue. William had already taken all the luggage inside. And is now sitting with the babies on the grass.

"I need a shower," I grumble and pick off hair that is stuck to my forehead from sweat.

I make my way inside and look at the Millers once more, Mrs. Miller had gone inside and Ivy is back to tanning with Blake. The Miller brothers are playing football and Henry's eyes snap to mine.

He stares at me for a few seconds before giving me a sly wink and throws the ball back at Harrison.

My mouth parts from shock and I feel a blush take over my cheeks.

"Evie, where is my room?" I say unhappily and practically stomp inside.

This is gonna be a long summer.
