I was in the office looking over the plans when Ross came in with Zacky and Paul.

"If things are as bad as Abigail says...." Ross commented

"Which they are." he stopped at the sight of me and glanced me up and down.

"What are you wearing?" he inquired. I looked down then back up at him with a confused look.

"Clothes, what are you wearing?" I counter and his mouth opens and shuts "I think you were trying to say that we need to make a plan.

"But will 'ee 'ave time for such a thing, now 'ee 'ave London matters to attend to?" Zack wondered. I saw Dwight.

"Dwight? How's Caroline?" I question "It was her time yesterday?" I told Zacky and Paul

"Sarah Enys is eagerly waiting to meet her Aunt and Godmother." he answers

"That's brilliant news." I chime. Zack, Paul and I go over to congratulate him. Dwight was happy to speak of Sarah and Caroline as any new father would. Sam came in a joined us.

"When I left the mine was in profit." Ross removed his coat  and rolled cup his sleeves "The lode showed no sign of petering out. And we even considered on taking on more men."

"'Twas a reasonable thought." Sam voiced

"So in the end we decided against." I went and grabbed the map of the mine and laid it out. Ross gave me a awkward look which I brushed off

"Which was fortunate. Since the lode has began to fail. So..we have a choice: continue with the load till it's exhausted or drive through to the Old Wheal Maiden workings." Ross suggested. The three men looked up at me with apprehension.

"Begin' yer pardon but what may seem simple to an outsider..." Zack began. All of us reacted subtly to the comment and I scratched to the back of my ear

"Meaning' no disrespect 'tis only we been' below all these months." Paul attempted to salvage the conversation.

"Seeing' how the land lies..." Zack continued

"As opposed to thee, been' above grass" Sam added

"And far away in London." Paul carried on

"Okay, boys that's enough." I call them out and they became silent. "You promised you weren't going to cause a scene, so don't start one." I folded my arms.

"'Tis a comfort to know we 'ave 'ee to speak for we in Parliament" Sam spoke

"Do you think me out of touch with my own mine." We didn't say anything

"They meant no disrespect. Did you?" They shook their head

"Let's think on it, talk further?" Ross suggested

"Actually we wonder what Mistress thinks..." Zacky turned his attention to me as did Sam and Paul. I glanced at Ross then back at them.

"Like Ross said. Let's think and talk further later." I exit with the men following me. "Why don't you show me where Ross is thinking about and we'll go from there." Zack nodded and we headed down into the mine

Caroline and Dwight brought Sarah to Nampara for her first visit and we cooed over her.

"A cherub." Ross stated going us

"A tiresome one which take up so much of my time, forcing me to neglect more important matter such as horses and dogs." we chucked. Speaking of children ours came in to join us. Ross took Eve who began fussing, though she needed to get used to him if not the time he was staying here.

"Beg pardon, ma'am, I finished the caps for the children. I must be on my way." Rosina told us

"Oh, Drake was just leaving. Perhaps you'd walk Rosina as far as Sawle?" I turned to him

"Oh, no, there be no need." Rosina shook her head. I glanced at Demelza and gave her a look to help out.

"I thin 't'would be a kindness with night drawn' in." she agreed with me, the gave a stare to her brother.

"We'll both go." Sam took his brother and left with Rosina. Demelza and I waited till the door shut before we started giggling

"A more blatant contrivance I've yet to see." Ross shook his head

"Is it wrong? The life he wishes is not for the taking so... besides with Demelza soon to be wed it's only fair we move onto the next Carne." I reply

"Wed? To who?" Demelza blessed in the firelight.

"Paul Daniel has worn me down." she answered I snorted in amusement.
